Saiki’s mom calls out to her son, “Ku! Check who’s at the door for me, please?”
Saiki nods. He’s already heard the inner voice of whoever rung the doorbell to his home– he knows it’s you, and he knows why you’re there.
“Belated happy birthday, Saiki! Sorry I’m late, I didn’t know your birthday at first.”
Now, he needs a way out.
First, he accepts your gift. Maybe you’ll leave after he takes it. Of course, Saiki can’t just rudely shut the door on you– he doesn’t want to hurt your feelings get scolded by his mom. So, he engages in small talk. “It’s alright. You got the month right, at least. The only ones who greeted me correctly are Mera, Aiura and– to my surprise– Toritsuka.”
Confused, you ask, “And who... got the month wrong?”
“Everyone else. We partied in May. Is that all?”
Saiki tunes in to your thoughts, and he’s hopeful he’ll spend the rest of the day alone. Yes? No? I wanted to hang out, but maybe not? He clings onto that “maybe not” of yours.
Like any other person, you get curious. You ask him again, “No...? May? You guys partied in May?”
“It’s a long story,” he says. He’s hearing your (still) inquisitive thoughts. Saiki internally sighs. I need to get this over with, quick. There’s a show I want to watch that airs at 4:30 PM. It’s only 1 PM, but time is fast. He steps to the side, allowing you to walk past the gate. He doesn’t know why he’s letting you in. Saiki takes off his footwear before entering his house, and you do the same.
Saiki announces his presence to his mom, as well as yours. “Oh, dear! Are you here to celebrate Ku’s birthday? Have you eaten lunch already?”
You nod in response to both questions from Saiki’s mom. “Well, I’m not too sure about the celebration part... I figured I’d just give Saiki his gift, then leave–”
Saiki’s mom shakes her head. “No, stay! You obviously made the effort to come all the way here. Stay as long as you’d like.”
Good grief. Saiki forgot to take his mother’s friendly nature into account...
“Okay, I’ll stay.”
... As well as your politeness. Not to mention, the fact you’ve been looking for opportunities to be alone with him.
So, you and Saiki head up to his room.
You two aren’t the closest of friends. Sure, you’d go straight for him when you needed a partner for school and you two would sometimes walk home together, but you aren’t as close to him as Nendou and the others.
That doesn’t stop you from having feelings for Saiki, though. What started as a silly crush to help you pass the time in class developed into full-on fantasies of going on dates with him.
Usually, Saiki wouldn’t mind such things when it came to people like you– people who don’t act on their feelings– because that means he wouldn’t need to actively avoid you, but you confused him.
Saiki sometimes wanted nothing more than to ask you about your feelings for him, but that just felt uncharacteristic for him to do.
He wants you to act on your feelings– tell him how you feel. For what reason? He cannot put a pin on it. Not yet.
Saiki opens the door to his room, letting you enter first.
You sit on the foot of his bed and ask, “Did you have fun?”
Saiki sits on the chair in his room, which isn’t too far from you, before answering. “I don’t really celebrate my birthday in the way others would, but I splurged and bought lots of coffee jelly. My mother baked cake too.”
You give him a small smile. “So, is that a yes?”
Saiki nods.
Saiki didn’t really have much of a plan or intention to kick you out of his house. You didn’t talk his ear off as often as his other friends, so he figures you two can sit in his room alone in silence. He doesn’t hear you mentally complain, anyway. Most of your thoughts at that moment were in regards to the way his room looked.
Most of your thoughts.
I should ask about the show that’s going to air later this noon. Oh. My god. I can’t believe I’m alone with the guy I like, it’s the perfect time to confess!
Saiki hears your thoughts, yet he does not do anything about the confession part. He and you both know you’ve thought of confessing your feelings multiple times but chickened out everytime.
Hm. Saiki wonders if this time, you get the courage and finally tell him. He knows what he’ll say.
Your eyes dart nervously to Saiki, then at the TV right next to his bed, where you’re seated.
“Have you... Do you know about the show that’s airing later? 4:30?”
Saiki nods.
“Would you want to watch it together?” You take a deep breath after asking. Fortunately, he nods.
“Would you like something to drink? Or eat?” Saiki asks. If you’re staying, he might as well be a good host.
“Ah, just water. Maybe, uhm, coffee jelly– if you’re going to get some of your own.”
Saiki nods and he exits his room, leaving you alone.
You eye the gift you handed to Saiki. You had only gotten him a cardigan, unsure of any specific tastes of his, although the design was quite... un-Saiki; it wasn’t plain, but it wasn’t too much design. It just didn’t look like something he’d wear often, though you figured he could probably try out new things.
You just hope he likes it. To be safe, you had bought him a gift card to the store you got his gift from.
Saiki opens the door with a tray in his hands. Two cups of coffee jelly and one glass of water.
You make yourself comfortable on the floor of his room, Saiki sitting across from you and setting the tray down.
You take a sip of water before muttering, “Thank you.” Saiki gives a small nod before silently eating his coffee jelly.
He doesn’t really like being talked to while he’s eating, you think. You’re left to just look at Saiki with that expression he’s always wearing when he’s eating anything sweet. It’s cute.
You’re opting to confess, Saiki feels it. As unromantic as the scene seemed to be– two friends sitting on the floor without talking– he figures if he should be confessed to, it’d have to be nothing grand.
Plus, he knows what he’ll reply, anyway. He’s prepared his response since the first time you backed out of confessing to him.
You grab a plastic spoon and open your cup of coffee jelly. Before you take a bite of the sweet treat, you finally say the words.
“I like you.”
I know. I’m still chewing, hang on.
You quickly eat a spoonful of coffee jelly before Saiki could even respond. Say something, please?
You anxiously eat your coffee jelly, waiting for Saiki to finish eating his.
...
Finally, finally, Saiki replies.
“I don’t really know yet, but I might like you too.”
You feel as though a wave of relief washes over you. At least it’s not a rejection. Oh my god. “Really?”
Saiki nods. He doesn’t say anything else, and in shock, neither do you.
“Don’t ask me how I know this–”
Mentally, you interject, I probably won’t, but continue.
“–but I know you’ve liked me for a while now.”
You sigh in frustration. “I thought I was hiding it well...”
I can’t help that I have telepathy. Saiki discards that thought, instead saying, “No, you were pretty obvious.”
You laugh quietly. “God, I’m sorry! Glad that you might like me back. At least that being obvious wasn’t in vain.” You smile at Saiki. “Belated happy birthday, again. Next year, I’ll be sure to greet you on time.”
Saiki lets out an amused hum. “We’ll see.”

Saiki has always been someone who swore that his friends piss him off, but in reality, he has a big soft spot for them. So when Kaidou’s birthday came around, what kind of monster would he be if he didn’t attend the party and get the best gift ever?
He curses his brilliant mind most times, but when he needs the calculator from it, it’s always there for him.
Just like Kaidou…
Oh dear, now he really needs to go above and beyond.
He spent ages perusing the shelves of multiple stores, comparing prices and name brands (while also considering the off brands.)
After three hours, the treasured gift lay pristinely wrapped in a blue wrapping paper, adorned with a large, red bow.
He looks down at his watch and- oh dear, he would be late.
That’s alright, better to show up with an excuse than to show up and have the risk of someone seeing him telep-
In a flash, Kusuo appeared down the block of Kaidou’s home. He checked his surroundings to ensure that no one had seen the action.
What had happened?
There was a roach, naturally.
Regardless, he checked his watch once more and he was perfectly on time.
Kusuo raised his hand to knock on the door and did so. He was met by a rather enthusiastic “C’MON IN!!!!!!”
When he entered the house, he was truly taken aback…
He was the only one who was in there other than Kaidou.
Okay, now he was pissed off, like really pissed.
“Kaidou, am I the only one that you invited?” He had to check, there’s no way that his friends wouldn’t-
Looking rather melancholic, the silver-haired boy replied. “No, just waiting on the others! You know them, late for everything! Haha!”
The psychic felt a tinge of remorse in his chest. It didn’t require him reading his friend’s mind to understand that Kaidou was devastated.
“And your family?”
“They uh, they went out to celebrate Toki’s birthday… it’s not even his actual birthday today either.” he murmured.
“What the hell is their problem?” Kusuo hissed. “It’s your birthday; this is your day.”
“Look, Saiki it’s-“
“Don’t say it’s okay, because it’s definitely not.”
“They have to celebrate my little brother, it’s-“
“Without you?”
The question left the birthday boy in silence. He turned toward the wall and averted his gaze. It didn’t take a psychic to notice his heaving chest and understand that he was crying.
“Kaidou…”
“N-no it’s… it’s o-okay.”
“Look at me.”
The silver-haired boy turned toward his friend with puffy eyes, tears leaking out of them.
Kusuo wasn’t sure what possessed him to do so, but his hand moved upward and gently swiped away the tears that were falling. “No one cries on their birthday, not on my watch.”
The Jet Black Wings smiled, cheeks tinting pink as he scrubbed at his leaking eyes. “You always know how to make me feel better, Saiki.”
“Hey, hey, no. You’ll rub your eyes raw. Let me do it.” Saiki gently wiped his friend’s eyes once more, eyebrows knit in remorse. This of course only made Kaidou cry harder.
The pink-haired boy short-circuited when he felt the latter lean down against his torso for a hug. But, somehow, something in him told him to hug back…
“S-Sorry for making t-things so awkward.”
“Not awkward at all; it’s not like I’ve never seen you cry before.” Kusuo hummed as he gave a few pats to the boy’s shoulder.
“Uggghhh that’s right.” He shoved his face into Saiki’s shirt, indubitably staining it with tears.
Poor Kaidou… what can he do to make him-
That’s it.
He’s seen Nendou do it before, and scientifically it’s impossible to mess up.
But what if he hurts him? That’s the last thing Kaidou needs right now.
Well, no time like the present.
In a moment of comfortable silence, Kusuo carefully pressed his fingers into his friend’s sides, pinching a bit. He felt the latter shift in response, whining a bit.
“Nooo, don’t tickle me.”
“I told you that I’m not letting you cry on your birthday.”
Kaidou’s hands came up to cover his ears, weird.
“What’s wrong with your ears? Why cover them?”
“N-Nothing.” Kaidou’s voice was up by at least an octave as his hands shook.
“Well, you left yourself wide open.”
“…You wouldn’t.”
Oh he would, and he did. The pink-haired boy brought his hands up to the birthday boy’s underarms and gently wiggled them.
“Hyehehehahaha! Saha-sahahahaihihihikihi! Nohohoho!”
Kusuo hummed fondly when his friend brought his arms down, revealing why he had covered his ears. The tips of them were flushed a beautiful shade of scarlet red, and it was creeping down his neck. “Ohhhh, you’re embarassed, aren’t you?”
A giggly whine was what he received in reply, the blush deepening. “Sahahahihihikihihi- dohohohont—hehehe—behehehe mehehehean.”
“Mean? I could never be mean. Didn’t you know that? I’m completely devoid of human emotion, I thought we’ve covered this in the Dark Reunion episode.” Hands traveled to Kaidou’s ribs and began their attack.
“AGH! DOHOHOHONT BREHEHEHEAK THEHEHE FOHOHOHOURTH WAHAHAHALL!”
“Should I listen to him, everyone?”
“STAHAH-STAHAHAP THAHAHAT! YOHOHOHOU KNOHOHOHOW IHIHIHIHI HAHAHATEHEHE- HYEHEHAHAHAHA! SAHAHAHIHIHIKIHIHI!”
“What’s wrong? Embarassed?” Kusuo could feel the warmth in Kaidou’s face as he continued his ticklish assault.
“YEHEHEHES!” A whined reply.
“Mmm, sounds like you’re still crying though. You know I can’t have you crying on your birthday.”
When hands traveled down to his tummy, it was over. The silver-haired boy fell backwards on the couch, covering his horrendously red face with his hands. He screamed into his hands as he whined incoherently through his laughter. “OKAHAHAHAY! IHIHIHI- IHIHIHI CAHAHANT!”
“Oh? Is this spot ticklish?”
“YEHEHEHES! TOHOHOHOO TIHIHICK- OHOHO MYGOHOHOD! STOPSTOPSTOP KUHUHUSUHUOHOHO!”
When he had heard the rare usage of his first name, Saiki let off his attack. A smile was on both of their faces as Kaidou panted into his hands.
“Oh you’re such a dick, dude.”
“Maybe, but at least you’re smiling.”
As if on cue, the doorbell rang. The two turned toward it, and of course, Kusuo already knew who it was.
“C-Come on in!”
The door opened to reveal all of their friends, drenched from head to toe, and holding boxes under their clothes.
The birthday boy gasped as he jumped up from the couch with a huge smile. “You came! You came!”
“Yeah, sorry we’re late,” Aren hummed. “Nendou forgot your present at home and then it started pouring. SOMEONE-“ he gestured to Hairo, “decided that it would be a “fun challenge” to run through the rain without an umbrella.”
A giggle escaped him, “Don’t worry. I’m glad you’re all here.”
“As for you, why are you so red?” Nendou accused. “Got something you’re hiding from us, buddy?”
“Wh- no! Nononono! I don’t have anything to hide, Saiki just tickled me and- uh oh.”
“Tickled you, huh?”
Kusuo could hear the menace in Aren’s voice, opting to stand up as the group abandoned their gifts and tackled Kaidou to the couch.
“Go easy on him, he’s still catching his breath.”
The four nodded at him and soon the joyful giggles of the birthday boy filled the room once more. The psychic smiled as he used his powers to check under the wrapping paper and-
Oh no…
Nendou had bought the same present he did.

Saiki x Male!Reader
「Your Mind」
Request by: @ipeteruso (That didn't work i think, idk why, my apologies, I hope you still see this-)
Characters you can request
-
Saiki sat in school, hoping the day wouldn't get even more exhausting than it already was. Kaidou and Nendou had come up with the great idea to hang around Teruhashi for the whole day and since they were by Saiki's side all the time, Teruhashi was too. He was happy that school would end in a few minutes and he could finally go home, since not only Teruhashi's presence was the problem. She had said something earlier that made the day even shittier.
"[Name]? Oh yeah, i know him. Don't tell anyone, but I think he has a crush on you Kaidou, he keeps trying to talk to you!"
Now the questions was, why did those words make the day horrible? Well, it kind of started when Saiki had noticed how hard it was to read [Name]'s mind while it was effortless to read the mind of others. It picked Saiki's interest and soon, almost without noticing, he had been trapped into the web of... Love? Having a crush? One of those. He still tried to figure that much out.
He really didn't notice it at first, but he catched himself smiling (which, alone, was already a phenomenon) at [Name]'s concentrated face when he was writing something in class or observing him when he accidentally met him out of school.
God, the [shorter/taller/same-heighted] boy made him as happy as silence and coffee jelly together, it creeped Saiki out! Though, the thing was, 1: He had a rough idea how confessions worked, but he never dated someone before, let alone have the thought of ever dating someone. He would be hopeless as a boyfriend. 2: Teruhashi did have a point. [Name] often glanced at Kaidou or tried to talk to him. Even if Saiki hated to admit it, his heart stinged at the thought of Kaidou and [Name] dating, only the thought of him crushing on the odd boy was hurtful! But then again, what could he do? Except using his psychic powers, that just would be wrong and cheating.
Though, after school had finally ended and Saiki walked out of the classroom (after everyone left so noone would see him), he ran straight into [Name]. He didn't even feel his presence correctly. Something unexpected happened to him because of the odd way that he couldn't read the other male at all! "Oh! Saiki- I'm sorry, I forgot something in class", [Name] explained while looking at the pink haired boy, who simply stepped to the side for the [brunette/blonde/etc..] to enter.
[Name] quickly walked inside and even if Saiki was hyped to go home only a few seconds before, he turned around and waited at the doorframe, watching as the other boy took his bag that he had forgotten. Saiki's eyebrows furrowed. Effort. He hated his mind reading power, but he really needed a hint. That he didn't know whether someone liked him or not oddly drove him crazy, since he normally pretty much knew everything. Then after a lot of effort, he finally caught them. [Name]'s thoughts.
"Saiki is still here, what should I say?! Maybe I should ask him out finally?! If he says no, I would literally kick the next building, hoping it crashes and takes me with it!!"
The pink haired's expression changed from focused to surprised. Ask out? Like in a date way? "Saiki?", that voice brought him back to reality, "Are you okay? You look shocked".
With a quick and small nod the boy looked at the male in front of him, thinking of something to say.
"Saiki do you-" "Come over to my house?"
[Name] looked at Saiki with a surprised expression before smiling and nodding. "Yeah, sure! For like, hanging out or home work or something else?", He asked with a happy smile. Saiki thought for a while before he remembered the coffee jelly he still had at home, "Do you want to eat coffee jelly with me?".
Again, the other boy was pretty shocked. He knew that it was not the easiest thing to make Saiki talk to you, let alone invite you over to eat coffee jelly! It felt like an achievement. "Of course! I would love that", [Name] stated, getting the faintest smile from Saiki, almost not noticeable. Though, the male in front of him notice his happiness, even if he did good to hide it.
After they walked to Saiki's house in absolute silence and survived an attack of the pink haired's mom calling his new friend [handsome/pretty/etc..] and more, they were finally sitting in Saiki's room. Coffee jelly on the table before them and even more silence between them.
"So, uh, I know you really like Coffee jelly, is it really okay I eat it with you?", [Name] asked, unsure of the boy's feelings. Saiki only sighed in response and took a spoon of coffee jelly himself, trying to calm his heart from exploding. Who knew if his powers actually made the boy's heart jump out of his chest. "What now? This is akward", Saiki thought before a question popped into his mind.
"Do you have a crush on Kaidou?", He questioned a little too straight forward, getting a puzzled expression from the boy before him. Was Teruhashi wrong? He looked confused. "Kaidou? No I have a crush on y- uh- noone-", [Name] said, immediately regretting answering that question without thinking. The boy's face heat up at his almost confession and the pink haired boy let out a quiet sigh yet again.
Saiki didn't need any more words. It was obvious now, that [Name] wasn't crushing on Kaidou but on him. Another question crossed Saiki's mind now, "If you have a crush on me, why were you looking at Kaidou all the time?". [Name] was clearly caught off guard by the boy's words, realising that Saiki knew anyway, so he wouldn't have to hide it.
"Well, you see.. you seemed close, so I envied him and wanted to befriend him. You seemed so hard to approach and Kaidou is much more out-going so it would be easier? I don't know if that makes sense..".
Saiki was a little surprised by the boy's honest answer, but he didn't mind it. He couldn't read [Name]'s thoughts that easily, so honesty was great. "Well, I approached you now", Saiki stated a-matter-of-factly.
A short while of silence crept in until [Name] broke it.
"I like you" - "I know".
"Do you want to-" - "Sure".
"You didn't let me finish" - "Finish your coffee jelly first".
And with those words they both finished their bittersweet dessert in, a more or less, comfortable silence. Even if Saiki calmed down a while ago, he was still nervous. If he started dating [Name], he would have to be a good boyfriend, he wasn't sure if he would manage that.
Suddenly the boy looked at him. "Saiki, if we start dating, just know that I don't mind you being distant or something. I really like you, because of how happy you get when you enjoy you coffee jelly and how visibly annoyed you are when your friends talk the whole time about things you don't want to hear!", [Name] explained with a small fit of laughter at the end.
Saiki looked at the boy with surprised eyes, gritting his teeth after. It had been a while since he felt that much happiness.
Within a few seconds he pulled [Name] into a hug, surprisingly smiling a little wider than normally. "Thank you", Saiki thought, not brave enough to say it out loud. But to his surprise, the boy just returned the hug without much hesitation, "I know, you're welcome".
Maybe it was [Name] who read his thoughts and not the other way around. Either way, he was happy.
-
Yay, I'm done! I loved writing this honestly (Even if I had to rewrite it). The idea of Saiki struggling with reading someone's mind, would never cross his own thoughts. He would definetly get invested in someone like that!
If you see any typos, I'm really sorry. I did reread this a few times, but I'm really tired- TT-TT
Have a good day/night/evening

saiki's crush who never pays attention to him because she thinks he's gay 😭 she's seen him stalking hiroshi saitou and just assumed he had a crush on the guy
IFBSKFK BUT LIKE THAT WOULD BE SO EASY TO MAKE A MISTAKE BC OF KSJHFDSF (like Saiki stalks Hiroshi so uh, surprise you think he's a flaming homosexual <3)
I'm lacing it with crack again I hope you don’t mind bby
Tumblr media
Warnings: Laced with crack (check out my other works for reference LMAO), Swearing as usual
Pronouns: she/her
Summary: Saiki's gay for Hiroshi... right? Well, it's getting questionable with what you keep learning about him.
Tumblr media
To you, Saiki Kusuo from the next class over was… in most situations most likely gay. Not the happy kind of gay, as in he was probably a flaming homosexual gay. You didn’t pay much attention but… you’ve caught him stalking Hiroshi in your class more than enough times. Another win for the gays you guessed. Saiki was in no way ugly.
This much thought of conclusion was reached after you saw him, and another purple haired boy in your class, stalk Hiroshi and Hii-chan while they were out on a date after school. Not to mention that he was literally telling Toritsuka about how he worshipped him. You also heard Toritsuka talk about ghosts at some point. You didn’t really care, they didn’t seem significant enough to you- wHICH WOULD’VE BEEN THE CASE IF YOU HADN’T WALKED IN ON AKECHI AND THE OTHER TWO TALKING ABOUT SAIKI BEING PSYCHIC.
“Do you two know that Saiki-san’s actually a psy-“ the two dragged him up the stairs and you had happened to pass.
“DON’T SAY THAT HE’S A PSYCHIC OUT LOUD YOU IDIOT-“
You dropped your milk carton and everyone turned to look at you.
“Shit.”
Your poor, poor miserable life…
So here you were, stuck with the four of them, somewhere in the middle of nowhere. (It was actually Oshimai but you didn’t really care)
“So… you’re telling me Saiki-san has to stop a volcano from erupting?” You never really understood all of it. You weren’t complaining though, you got to go on a fully paid trip thanks to Saiki.
“Yeah,” Aiura smiles.
‘Y/n, stay with Aiura, I’m going to try and solve this issue once and for all,’
You tucked yourself behind Aiura and thought over everything you two had done.
“He’s staring again?” You throw your carton away. “Is he gay for him or something?”
The other two stare at you in confusion. They try to make out words, and eventually they reach the same conclusion you did. “Holy shit he might be.”
“So what are we? A mean bisexual, a horny teen that harasses people, a detective, a psychic and the caffeinated parent?”
“Wait wait wait who’s the mean bisexual?”
“Aiura… unless somehow she’s straight,” You hum.
“I will neither confirm nor deny that,” Aiura shrugged.
You didn’t know, but Saiki heard that conversation.
The night before you three were here, Saiki had booked a hotel room for Aiura, you, and Toritsuka.
“I know there’s a reason that you called us three here, but isn’t it a violation of human rights to leave us here with him??” You point at Toritsuka and he scoffs.
“I did no such thing!”
“You told us to take a shower, and then you moved the two beds together.” Aiura deadpans.
‘Did Aiura explain everything to you two?’
“No, I was told that I was going on a trip.” You hum, taking a sip of water.
‘I’m going to attempt to stop a volcano eruption tomorrow,’ Saiki explains.
“I’M SORRY WHAT?” You spat out your drink from that one.
“The mountain here is going to erupt,” Aiura notes.
“What are we in? Hawaii???”
‘No but we’ll be dead if I don’t fix it,’
“Nice, so what’s the plan?”
There’s a bright light and then a blast, and you find that both you and Aiura are in one piece. Saiki’s breathing heavily on the ground, and you two rush over.
‘I can’t believe that worked,’ Saiki pants.
“Can I kiss you?” Aiura blinks. You choke on your spit.
‘No.’ Saiki glares. You reach a hand out to him to pull him up, but instead, you find yourself pulled on top of Saiki.
“AcK-“ You land with a thud and Saiki rests his face into your neck.
‘That was exhausting,’ He rests himself for a bit before the three of you hear people coming. You get up and pull Saiki up for real this time. The group blinks in confusion at the sight of two Saikis.
‘They’re not supposed to be here,’
“We know, we know,” The three of you glare at Toritsuka as he looks away. Toritsuka explains to Saiki what was going on and you snicker.
“We’ll explain it eventually. It’s a secret for now though,” You smile, holding a finger up to your mouth. “You trust us right?”
The group complains before Nendou speaks up.
“Well, they don’t have to tell us if they don’t want to… I think pal will tell us in his own time! A true friend wouldn’t pressure you into telling secrets… right?”
Your smile softens, and your eyes shine slightly. You watch Saiki speak for the first time.
“Good grief, you guys are really a pain… seriously…” Saiki’s eyes are glimmering.
You pause as Saiki disappears from next to you. Your memories remain but you don’t bring it up. When you all return to school, you find that Saiki’s limiters are gone.
“Saiki-san, did you get rid of the hair clips?” You tilt your head curiously.
“Yeah,”
“It feels weird seeing you as a normal human being,” you smile. “We’re aging so fast!”
“Y/n.”
“Hm?”
“I like you.” Saiki attempts to run away before you grab him by the wrist to pull him into you.
“You… DON’T GO AROUND CONFESSING TO PEOPLE AND RUNNING AWAY SAIKI-SAN!” You hiss, and Saiki’s eyes widen. “I… may have fallen for you too.”
“Oh thank god,” He hugs you and you hum.
“Didn’t you know? With the psychic powers and all?”
“No, you only thought about how I was gay for Hiroshi most of the time so I gave up on your thoughts,” Saiki mumbles.
“Ah, well that would make you gay as in happy now.”
“I hate you,”
“Don’t worry, the feeling’s mutual,”

Campfires and Confessions (Kusuo Saiki x Reader)
Angsty at the start but ends off cute!  Reader is gender neutral in pronouns (as in no she/he) but it is slightly implied the reader is female in one small part.
WC: 1627
Italics are Kusuo “speaking” aka telepathy.
In which the reader and friends are on a camping trip, but they convince themself that their feelings will not be reciprocated.
-----------------------------------------------------
You and your friend group had decided that going camping together would be a great idea this summer. That’s how you, 3 girls (being Teruhashi, Yumehara, and Mikoto) and 4 boys (being Nendou, Kaidou, Saiki, and Kuboyasu) ended up here, sitting around this campfire. Generally, you’d been having a wonderful time. All of you were somewhere that was free from regular day to day responsibilities and overbearing adult figures. It was rather nice, except for one small thing.
Saiki Kusuo. One of your closest friends and incidentally also your crush. There had been many times you’d considered telling Saiki about how you felt but stopping yourself every time out of pure respect for his clear boundaries. Over the past couple of weeks, you started to realize maybe you weren't as close as you thought you were. You had begun to convince yourself you were nothing more than a bother for Saiki and had contemplated distancing yourself from him. Would it be better for him? Would it make him happy for you to give him the space you felt he desired so badly?
Ultimately, you decided it would be better to leave him alone. The very last thing you wanted was to cause any further trouble for Saiki and you knew that more than anything he didn’t want to draw attention to himself. It wouldn’t be easy, considering how close you thought you had become but you knew you’d be able to manage. You had all your other wonderful friends with you and this may be a great chance to get even closer with some of them. What’s a better way to bond than being stuck in the wilderness for a week?
You had been zoned out for a while now and were surprised to see Teruhashi’s hand waving in front of your face.
“Y/N? Are you alright?” Teruhashi asked you, a rather clear worried expression on her face.
“Yeah! I’m fine.” You managed to get out unphased. Thankfully, the worried expression was wiped off of her face and was replaced with a gorgeous, glowing smile.
“I’m glad, Y/N! Anyways, we were talking about heading back to our tents for the night, but some of the boys are staying out. Are you coming?”
Thinking for a moment about her question, you glanced over at where Saiki was sitting, trying to deduce if he’d be heading in for the night too. Seeing that he was getting ready to pack up, you decided you were in the clear to stay out longer.
“I think I’ll be staying out a little longer. I’d like to chat!” You said eagerly in reply.
“Alright, Y/N. Just don’t stay out too late, okay? Good night!”
“Goodnight, Teruhashi!”
Moving your gaze towards whoever had chosen to stay outside, you see only Kuboyasu and Kaidou. They would be fun to talk to. The three of you talked about nothing and everything until the sun had fully set and countless stars painted the deep night sky. You decided to ask about Saiki. They were rather close to him, and you trusted them enough not to tattle.
“I have a weird question. It’s about Saiki.” You tested the waters with that. If they didn’t react too well, you’d just ask something unimportant like his favourite sweets, or manga series.
“What’s up Y/N?” Kuboyasu was quick to reply, obviously curious as to what you wanted to know. Kaidou also tilted his head out of curiosity.
“Well… do you know if Saiki likes anyone?”
Kaidou was even faster to jump in.
“I can’t say for sure, as he doesn’t express… much emotion. I’m not sure.”
The small look of victory on your face gave everything you felt towards Saiki away to the two boys in front of you. Maybe you did have some chance. Kuboyasu smirked at you, promising that he and Kaidou would keep quiet about your little crush.
Finally getting tired, and rather satisfied with what you had learned tonight, you said your goodnights to Kuboyasu and Kaidou who promptly did the same. You quietly made your way into your shared tent with Teruhashi, seeing her already fast asleep. Settling in for the night, it wasn’t long before you fell asleep too.
The next morning you were one of the first awake. Climbing out of the tent, you were greeted by none other than Nendou and Yumehara. The two of them were busy cooking breakfast for the group, something you were extremely thankful for.
Once everyone was awake and had eaten, you all left for a hike up the trail that was near your campsite. The walk was nice, and it was a good time being with your friends. You were lucky enough to end up walking next to Mikoto and Yumehara at some points, actually having a nice time with her. You had forgotten how well the three of you got along. Nevertheless, you still managed to avoid Saiki.
Meanwhile, during all of this, your thoughts were becoming unbearable to Saiki. He knew why you weren’t talking to him, but it didn’t mean a little part of him didn’t miss your company. Saiki was surprised to realize he couldn’t stand knowing you thought he disliked you or was picking someone else over you. It wasn’t the case, at all. It had taken his all not to telepathically tell you you’re wrong and he wanted you to come to talk to him. He knew he had to do something about it himself.
Walking up to you, he said he knew you’d been dodging him and asked you to meet him by the lake that evening when most of the group had turned in for the night.
Surprised by Saiki’s sudden looming presence over your shoulder, you hesitantly agreed to meet him there tonight. A part of you was excited, not knowing what caused him to suddenly ask you that. Another part of you was filled with doubt. You had no idea what he wanted you for. Was it possible he was mad at you? For a split second, you considered not going. Then the rational part of you took over, this is Saiki we’re talking about, and suddenly you were nearly certain he wouldn’t pull you aside to yell at you. You made up your mind, you were going to meet Saiki by the lake tonight.
Once night arrived, you quietly headed out towards the nearby river. As soon as you found it, you spotted Saiki, sitting on a picnic blanket, with a basket beside him. It was quite the sight to behold, Saiki was rather pretty, seemingly shining from the moonlight that wrapped around his shape.
And so was the scenery. The lake was serene, peaceful in every sense of the word. The moon and glowing stars reflected perfectly in the still water, with nothing daring to disturb the perfect atmosphere. It was stunning, and in any case, you were mesmerized by the seemingly glowing lake in front of you.
Silently, you sat down beside Saiki, only for him to start talking right away.
“Y/N. Listen. I know this is going to be a lot, but there’s something I need to tell you.”
This was worrying. Was he okay? You looked at him with a worried expression painted on your face,
“What is it, Saiki?”
He took in air, clearly nervous. This was out of character for him.
“I’m a psychic. I have many abilities, ones I won’t get into right now as there is one I need to tell you about. I can read minds… I constantly hear thoughts telepathically, including yours.”
Oh. Oh no. This wasn’t good. So he knew? Is that what this was about? Feeling the panic rush over you, you closed your eyes and hid your face as you started tearing up. You had no idea how to react. You’d never been more certain Saiki hates you.
“I like you too.”
Your head shot up immediately. Saiki.. felt the same way? Despite everything, he didn’t dislike you? He wasn’t annoyed by you? Even though he knew what you were thinking that whole time?
“Far from it. I do like you.” Saiki said, reaching to rub your back and help calm you down.
“I can’t believe this...” You were practically shaking from shock. You were happy, despite knowing he could read your thoughts this whole time. If it couldn’t be helped then you supposed you’d have to accept it. Though, both you and Saiki were surprised at how easily you accepted his powers. He was still Saiki, after all. Nothing had changed that, nor would it ever.
“I should ask to be official, Y/N, will you go out with me?”
“I think you already know the answer to that. Yes, of course, I will.” You were surprised by how calm and steady your voice was.
“I apologize I never said anything sooner. I didn’t want to give myself away.”
“Oh, Saiki, I understand. You don’t need to be sorry.”
“I know it was only a few days, I missed you.”
You smiled at him, “I missed you too.”
Saiki slid over towards you, adjusting his body so you could place your head on his shoulder. Which you did, and he placed his head on yours. Opening the picnic basket that had been long forgotten, you and Saiki enjoyed a nighttime snack sitting out by the gorgeous lake.
“So... you’re a psychic? Will you show me what you can do?”
Saiki couldn’t believe what he was about to say. Good grief, you brought out the best in him. Not that he minded. He was glad you accepted him, and he trusted you enough to keep his secret. He looked over at you and gave a small smile.
“Gladly.”

Headcanons for if Kaidou’s sister got a crush on Saiki
Fic time here we go babeyy. Starring the lovely Kaidou Sora.
Tumblr media
It was a rough and cold day. One with winds that whipped you back and forth with no mercy. It was the kind of day that would gain your trust by having the sun tickle your skin, and then destroy the fragile warmth with a booming and freezing breeze. Sora wished she had stayed inside instead of going to the store to buy eggs for her mother. She cursed under her breath as another dreaded wind came and tangled her hair.
"Shun...? Shun!" She spotted her older brother loitering outside of another grocery store.
"...Sora?" He jumped, turning to face the smaller female "Oh, hey. Heading home?" She nodded.
"Well, I have Saiki with me. I can drive you home though" he turns to the pink haired boy who was still eyeing a rack of coffee jelly from outside of the store window.
"Drive? You can't drive. This isn't America, dumbass. You're not old enough to get a license and you don't even have any type of vehicle with.... you..." she slowed her words upon seeing him walk up and start a motorcycle with some unappealing (not to mention, chuuni) decorations; only shun would decorate something to look that stupid.
"I forgot you had one.." she awed. Though, the last thing she needed was more wind slapping her face "But no thanks. I'll walk. You don't even have an extra helmet."
Saiki turned to the bike he had been pure pressured into bringing. 'Yare yare' he mumbled as he sat down too fast, causing his head to ache. This place was crowded, so it made sense that his head would hurt naturally- or, that's what he thought until he saw Shun's sister getting kidnapped. Good grief. No way to sit still after seeing that.
'Hey' saiki called out to her, placing a helmet on her head. 'You can ride on the back of mine. It's going to be dark soon and then it'll get even colder.' He said, walking back to his motorcycle.
"Alright, fine" she got onto the seat behind him. Shun smiled at Saiki before starting his bike down the road, and the psychic then followed.
The wind came strong and angry. Sharp and bitter. It threatened to kick her off of the bike and caused her to have to wrap her arms tighter around the boy infront of her. He didn't care much for the wind. Nothing special, no reason for his heart to race because with his powers, his instincts don't sense danger. It wasn't much painfully cold, either. With his pyrotechnics it wasn't a problem at all.
Maybe I should tell him to stop... this is too cold Sora thought to herself
Saiki sighed as he used his fire power very carefully to bring heat to her body as well. He can't have Shun coming to school crying about his sister everyday. Especially when it's so easy to avoid.
This feeling...
Oh no.
it's gotten so warm... next to Saiki.. no, it must be that I... I have a crush..?
Good grief... this is uncomfortable the psychic thought
.....
And in days to come, the Jet Black Wing's sister would come to bother him about his friends. After that, her crush began to develop in a similar way to Chiyo. She would watch him with eyes that saw a round eyed prince. She would admire how smart and well mannered he is, and she would act especially polite when he made his presence infront of her.
Saiki Kusuo, was also thinking about her often. However; not in the way you might be thinking. He was forming strategies on how to avoid her. All of which were miserably failing. With her mother and his mother on her side, she couldn't fail. Discovering his family power structure, she would have Shun call Kurumi (his mother) and invite him over.
And with her own mother bothering Shun to hang out with his two "genius" friends everytime his grades would slip. Of course, Nendou rarely came because he was "always busy" (in reality, Shun didn't want Nendou and his mother interacting anymore in fear of her finding out that he's an idiot)
So, of course, this all worked out best for Sora.
.....
The group of four walked home like usual. Kuboyasu, Nendou, Saiki and Kaidou. They were discussing which character in Shounen Jump is the weakest while Saiki was praying for Nendou to ask them to ramen so that he didn't have to go to Kaidou's house again. Sora had been coming up with gifts for her crush so that he would take notice and start a conversation with her. Of course, she had almost no idea what would peak the boy's interest.
"Hey, Saiki. I thought maybe it would be a good time to ask you" Kuboyasu, the former delinquent spoke up. "Heard there's somethin' weird behind that 100 yen store. Wanna come check it out?" He offered.
Saiki almost shook his head and provided an excuse on instinct before remembering his main goal (to bLow up and act I like dont know nobody aghaghaghaa.) So he simply nodded.
"I wish I could come see!" Kaidou beamed before looking back down to the ground dramatically "yes... I wish I still had time to question those weird things around me... to leisure in activities like such. Though, I have a sacred duty at hand..." he clenched his bandaged fist
"Gotta take a shit? Me too" Nendou chimed in.
"NO, IDIOT! I have cram sch-- I um.. I m..mean I have to meet with the phantom force! Th-that I'm helping train to work as soldiers against dark reunion!!" He stumbled all over his sentence before finally turning his body to strut off over to the direction of his house.
"Shun. I need you to help me with.. homework" his sister quickly requested and dragged him into her room, pushing him on the floor infront of the small table that sat in the middle of the room, just like his.
"What can you tell me about your friends? Start with Saiki kun" she reached for a notepad and a pen.
"Shouldn't you be referring to him as senpai or something because he's a second year?" He mentioned before being cut with her glare. "R..Right! Okay, sorry... he likes sweets an-"
"Sweets and what!? Why'd you stop??" Sora pressed
"Why do you need to know about my friends? Is this a homework assignment..?" He questioned her
"Yeah sure." She rushed "he likes sweets and what?"
"Ohh! I think I remember having this assignment in middle school, too! You're supposed to write about your closest friends and their interests right~?" He thought back to his middle school year and looked at her with warm eyes. Empathy began filling his soft face, adjusting his features on her. "Sora, I couldn't make any friends in middle school either, so...!" He began "I've noticed you've been really nice to Saiki.. so if you want to be friends with my friends-!"
"I can make friends. I'm not some lonely loser like you who needs a hero complex to interact with people his age." She interrupted, sending an imaginary arrow through the highschooler's chest.
"Guh-- well if you don't want my help then in leaving!!" He stood up and caught notice of a small hand stopping him
"Wait! I'm sorry.." She got onto her feet and bowed "I'm just... embarrassed about not having friends." She lied, not wanting her brother to know she had the hots for his bestfriend.
Her phone chimed, once, and then again. It was three of her friends trying to reach her to hang out at the movies. Then she got a phone call, interrupted by another phone call.
"You should answer those" shun said
She hesitantly picked up the phone and answered the call.
"Put it on speaker" her brother ordered.
"...okay.."
<"heyyyy! Sora where have you been? Me and everyone else wanted to go to the movies with you. You're always knee-deep in studying so we wanted to help you relax a bit for once. You've been out of school for like, three days just shadowing and checking out Pk academy. It's still a while before we get into high school, grandma~! Anyway, the 7 of us wanted to show we love you by taking you to see that movie you mentioned wanting to see. So get ready, we want to be there by 7:30"> the girl on the phone ranted on before Sora could speak up against it, and hung up.
".....Shun-"
"SEVEN!?" he exclaimed as Sora rushed into another apology. This must be the first time he's ever made HER scared of HIM.
"Don't apologize Sora!! That's amazing, I'm so happy you have great friends... ahyuuu...." he teared up
"Oh... thanks, I guess"
"But one thing" he said and stopped her from leaving the room
"Huh?"
"Why did you need to know about my friends for that project?" He tilted his head
She looked over to the door knob as if she was begging it for help as her face was overpowered by a dark red hue. "W....we-well-- Sh...shut up! Get out! I need to get dressed!!" She pushed him out.
"Ow!! Ouch~! I'll leave!!" He practically screeched as he was rushed out. "But I'll stand outside of the door until you admit!"
A few minutes later, she yanked open the door and sprinted down the hallway. She knew her small brother wouldn't be able to catch her with how weak and slow he is.
But her little brother could.
She tripped and landed on her face after having her legs caught and wrapped in bandages by Toki Kaidou.
"Now tell me why!" Shun stood proudly over her despite not having done anything.
Toki went back to his room as Sora nearly freed her feat from the poorly tied bandages, that is before Shun, someone who actually knew how to tie a knot, fixed them.
"Fine!! Just let me go!" She yelled at him "I... is there any reason for it? I think he's cool. You can always have new friends. You're just stupid and think that 7 is the max" her face was once again drenched in a dark pink color.
"Oh my god." He said
"What!?"
"You like him!!!" His eyes widened as he stood up frantically. "You have a crush on Saiki!!"
"Yeah, so what about it!?" Sora snapped at him
Shun gasped "Sora!! You're only in middle school-"
"Yet I'm more put together than you are" she said defensively
"But that's still kind of wrong.. we're about to be third years and you're not even in highschool yet..."
"I will be by the time you're third years though!!" She shouted, then slumped down.
"Yes- bu-" he began, getting cut off
"I know. I just... I really like him and I've never liked a guy before. I know it's stupid." She sighed, defeated
"No no, Sora I'm sorry... You can't control who you like, right? I was being mean-" he began
"It's fine, you're right about it being weird. Just untie me so I can go to my room"
"What about the movies with your friends?"
"...whatever"
....
'Yare yare,' Saiki sighed, taking another bite from one of the homemade cookies Sora had anonymously sent him before placing it down and uncrossing his eyes. (he had checked with his powers and knows the cookies were from her)
'I guess it can't be helped' he sighed once more before sending out a telepathic signal
"Sora!" She sang as she knocked on the large door infront of her.
"Hello?" Shun answered and opened the door wider for the girl to come in "you're one od her friends!" He chirped "She said she isn't feeling well enough for the movies; I think you should try cheering her up."
"Oh, okay... um, where would her room be?" Upon entering the house, the girl suddenly grew nervous. For some reason.
"Here, I'll show you" Shun lead her to Sora's door and sprinted away to hide before the girl could knock on it.
"What do you want." Sora snapped after hearing the door knock
"Eek! Sorry, I just.. uhm...wa it's Yui! your b..brother let me in" she stuttered unlike how she spoke on the phone
The door opened and inside was a girl with messy hair and red eyes. An embrace came soon after.
I thought you might've needed a hug... Yui intended to say, but instead voiced out:
"You... h.,,hug. Yeah. Needed yes...mn"
Sora laughed, at first came a weak chuckle, then as the hug parted it became a strong belly laugh (upon seeing Yui's flustered face)
.....
"Shun!" Sora called, making the timid boy jump and start shaking from fear
"Y-yes?" He was sweating bullets
"I'm going to the movies with my girlfriend." She took Yui's clammy hand and headed towards the door.
Shun blinked. "Wh--"

Summary: Saiki isn’t supposed to have regrets, but he thinks that letting you wither away from him was his worst mistake.
Warnings: Hanahaki, Mild mention of Star Tears, angst
Tumblr media
You first talked to Saiki in middle school. You had been classmates with him since kindergarten, moving almost always at the same time he did. You wondered if it was the universe telling you to befriend the boy.
Your only early memory of the boy was that he was the undefeated Rock Paper Scissors champion of kindergarten. He grew to be antisocial later on in middle school but you loved his hair clips so you asked him where he bought them. He had looked at you incredulously and had told you he had them custom-made. You wouldn’t stop pestering him about them afterward, especially since you caught him red-handed burning a sheet of paper.
“Is that…”
‘Don’t you dare tell ANYONE’
“Only if you finally tell me where you bought your hairclips”
Saiki looked 100% done with you and you had stuck with him ever since.
You noticed a handful of things about it Saiki after you started being friends with him. You noticed that his eyes light up whenever he was eating coffee jelly. You noticed how despite the fact that he claimed his friends were nuisances, he still hung around them. You noticed how his eyes were a certain shade of purple, and how he was much more caring than he claimed himself to be.
You had stuck around him despite knowing that he could read minds, and he had given you a germanium ring in your first year of high school, claiming that it was so that he wouldn’t hear your thoughts. You got a bit of privacy after that, and you started to wear the ring out of habit in your high school years.
The first issue came in your second year of high school. Saiki had managed to keep himself on the down-low so far, and you had stuck around with him as his self-proclaimed best friend. Nendo was his pal after all. He had caught the attention of Teruhashi, the school’s goddess. Saiki had told you that she was far from how she seemed, but you didn’t mind that much. She was pretty, and you didn’t mind at first.
Then came the petals. At first, you thought you ate something that had petals inside them, but it became clear when you wouldn’t stop throwing them up. You had caught Hanahaki, and you were in love with your best friend. You hid them well, and you never coughed despite how much Teruhashi was trying to catch Saiki’s attention at school.
The first time you weren’t able to hold it in was during PE. Teruhashi had made a move on Saiki, and he didn’t push her away. You had to excuse yourself to the bathroom so that you could let your lungs breathe properly. It was a bigger batch than usual, and you knew that didn’t mean anything good for you.
You went back to PE as if you hadn’t just thrown up an entire basket of flower petals.
The second time came when Teruhashi visited Saiki’s family for cooking lessons. It had become a tradition for you to visit Saiki every weekend. You had walked in, almost missing the familiar tuff of blue hair. You greeted the family, and you set the coffee jelly down on the table. Teruhashi had asked you if you were into anyone and you had managed to avoid her questions while doing Saiki’s suspicions at the same time. When they turned the tv on you felt your lungs collapse and you rushed to their bathroom to let the petals flow. They were stained with blood that time.
The third time came when you visited the shrine with the two Saiki brothers and Teruhashi. You stayed with Kuusuke after Kusuo and Teruhashi managed to dodge the influx of hate, and you had started to cough violently after Kusuo dragged Teruhashi away. Kuusuke caught you and you threw up a bud before him. His eyes widened and you had brushed it off as a magic trick you were preparing. Kuusuke didn’t believe you, but he let you off that time.
The fourth time came when Teruhashi asked Saiki out on a date for summer. You had been fine with the flowers so far, and the petals were still rather small other than that one bud from the shrine visit. But you felt your stomach lurch when you saw Teruhashi asking Saiki out on a date over summer. You ran to the bathroom, missing the look of concern on everyone’s face. You threw up premature flower blossoms that time. When you got back, you told them that you had a bad lunch.
Kuusuke called you the day of the date, and he had taken you out for a drive. When he passed the amusement park and brought you in, you felt your lungs tighten and you started coughing up half bloomed flowers. That confirmed Kuusuke’s suspicions. He brought you to his lab to run a few tests, and after the x-ray scan, he was completely sure that you had Hanahaki. He urged you to make a move on his brother.
“You can’t keep this to yourself forever,”
“I can,”
“No you can’t y/n, you’re going to need the surgery unless you confess,”
“Then how about this…”
You had made a bet with Kuusuke instead, if Kusuo found out about your petals first, then you would admit defeat and you would confess to Kusuo, if Kusuo made a move on Teruhashi first, then Kuusuke would fund your surgery so that you could get rid of those godforsaken feelings for the psychic. He agreed, sure that his brother wouldn’t be able to miss the fact that his own best friend was throwing up petals. You prayed secretly that Kuusuke would win the bet so that you could live out your fantasy.
You found that it was hard pretending to be ok, you hadn’t stopped coughing up flowers since summer, and that new transfer student who was rather close with Saiki wasn’t helping. Aiura was her name. She wasn’t as pretty as Teruhashi, but she was certainly different from the others. You had stopped talking as much as before, telling everyone that you had a rather bad cold since school started.
You had caught her clinging onto Kusuo like his lover one day after school. You were waiting for him to finish school so that you two could walk home together, but you had caught him with Aiura instead. The look on his face had you make a double-take before you confirmed it. You watched as she talked about their love life with the girl with pigtails, and you had listened as she talked about how active they were. You felt the flowers climb up your throat and had run away before anything else could happen.
The final straw came when Teruhashi was noticing the differences for everyone. She had spent the entire night memorizing everyone’s names accord to Kusuo, and you had listened to him narrate the whole situation. Kusuo talked about her quite a bit by now. You weren’t even surprised anymore when he brought her up. You parted ways with him to deal with your club’s paperwork at the office and the next sight was not one to be expected.
You had won the bet. You were heading outside of your clubroom when you had saw Saiki princess carry Teruhashi to the nurse’s office with your very own two eyes. You had won the bet even though you prayed that you wouldn’t. You had won the bet and that meant you needed to get the surgery. You prayed you wouldn’t win, yet it seemed that god liked Teruhashi more as usual. You ringed Kuusuke in the middle of the school day because of it.
“Hey, Kuusuke?”
“What’s wrong?”
“I won the bet…”
Kuusuke, as promised, sent the money for the surgery to your account. Now it was up to you whether or not you wanted the surgery. You knew you did, but a part of you desperately wished that Saiki would love you back so that you didn’t need to get the surgery. You were throwing up full-on flowers by now. No longer the buds you suffered from, no longer the premature flower blossoms you threw up once. You had little to no time unless you confessed to Saiki soon.
Then you remembered that he had let out an ‘offu’ at Teruhashi. You had heard it while you were nodding at him in class. It was loud, in fact, Teruhashi heard it but she thought she was hallucinating. You remember the sound of your own heart breaking when you heard it, you felt like the world had crashed down on you. It had happened a while back, but now you were completely sure about it. Saiki was in love with Teruhashi, and you couldn’t do anything about it.
The surgery was half a success, half a failure. Your feelings had gone away for Kusuo as promised, but you lost your voice because of it. You weren’t able to speak anymore; you couldn’t talk like you used to. You went to school with tears in your eyes because of it. The first person to notice was Kuboyasu, who greeted you but when you didn’t greet him back, he asked if your throat hurt. You burst into tears because of it.
The group gathered around you at the sight of you in tears. You never showed strong emotion around them, you only helped them with their issues and bottled your own up. You let out small hiccups and Nendou was surprisingly the first one to point out how you didn’t have a voice. You typed on your phone in tears, and you held it up for everyone to see.
‘I lost my voice permanently’
The group was in shambles afterward. Kaidou was asking how, Kuboyasu offered to beat up the person who caused it, Yumehara pulled you in for a hug. The group wanted to know, and you still wore your ring so Saiki wasn’t able to read your mind. You typed that you had gotten surgery for your throat since you caught a sickness and the surgery was a success at the cost of your voice box. You didn't give them any more information after that.
Toritsuka offered to summon a spirit to hopefully help you be able to speak again but you turned him down. Aiura tried finding out with her glass ball but it didn’t work either. Kaidou pushed you for further details. You didn’t tell anyone that the surgery was for Hanahaki. Nendou offered you ramen, in hopes that it would cheer you up, you shook your head no. Not that day at least.
Saiki was in shambles at the news, how had you even lost your voice to begin with? You hadn’t done anything and unless you got surgery within the span of a weekend, you weren’t able to have lost your voice. He reaches for your hand and tries to take the ring off. You ripped your hand away with a sad smile, signing him it’s ok, that it wasn’t that important anyway. Saiki was still bothered by it.
Akechi was surprisingly the person Saiki resided in for help. He was always able to figure things out even without it being written fully for him. Akechi didn’t even bat an eye when Saiki approached him. He had actually expected it. Saiki stood there in shock as Akechi explained about your sickness.
“She got surgery for Hanahaki obviously. She didn’t have a terminal disease or else she would’ve been hospitalized for longer than that. The fact that she had Hanahaki affect her throat as well only means that she was severely affected by the flowers. I think I saw her throw up coffee flower petals once. She was throwing up behind the school while we were picking sweet potatoes with the class. She made me swear to not tell anyone but since she got the surgery I assume that she’s ok with people knowing now,” Akechi rambled, and Saiki lost himself at coffee flower petals. She had been in love with him, how dumb could be he? He was a psychic for goodness sake!
You started carrying around a tablet to communicate with people better. You always wrote down comments about certain things, and you always laughed along with everyone. It was like nothing had ever happened. You acted like nothing had ever happened and Saiki hated that.
Saiki was bothered and you figured out quicker than he liked to admit. You knew him way too well. You had walked up to him after school one day asking if he was ok. He promised you he was, but you didn’t believe him. So you dragged him up to the room and forced him to talk to you about what was bothering him. He asked you the only question on his mind.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
You had paused. He had spoken to you with his actual voice and you frowned.
‘Tell you about what?’
Saiki looked exasperated.
“About the flowers, the Hanahaki, the surgery. Why didn’t you tell me?”
You blinked at him, shrugging before writing down your response.
‘It didn’t seem important’
You figured that Akechi had told him. Saiki groaned.
“I think my best friend throwing up flower petals is very important thank you very much”
‘It’s not like It matters anymore. The feelings and flowers are gone'
“But your voice-“
The loud noise of a digital pen was heard on the rooftop. The silence was suffocating.
‘But this, but that, it’s all over anyway it’s not like it’s important anymore’
Saiki chooses his next words carefully.
“Were you in love with me?”
You pause and nod your head enthusiastically. Saiki feels his own heart break.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
‘You liked Teruhashi. All the signs pointed to it and I got Kuusuke to pay for my surgery’
Saiki’s shoulders droop. It felt like he was holding the weight of the world on his shoulders. He reaches for you, and you take a step back. He wants you to know he loved you too, he wants to show you how much he liked you, how much he was actually in love with you.
He finds it’s too late however when you shrink away from the touch you used to cherish and love. You excuse yourself from the rooftop to meet up with Nendou and the others for your daily after-school ramen. Saiki watches your figure escape his sight. The feeling tastes bitter to him. It tasted like that cup of dark coffee he had once watched you down after pulling an all-nighter.
Saiki isn’t supposed to have regrets, but he thinks that letting you wither away from him was his worst mistake. He swears he hears the twinkling of stars when he starts crying. Perhaps this was the universe’s way of paying him back.

Hi. Sry to bother you but I saw requests were open. Could I maybe get a Kusuo x male reader? They are on a date and maybe Kusuo is a little more laid back and soft. His friends catch him with this very sweet boy and are kinda confused. It’s revealed that they are dating and his friends are kinda ???? cause they didn’t really know Saiki was gay? Ik this is bad but I just love my husband and wanna read abt all his dumbass friends trying to wrap their heads around Saiki being a soft and caring boyfriend (and him being with such a soft and caring boyfriend). Pls no pressure and you can ignore this of course. Have an amazing day/night!
Hi! You are most certainly not bothering me, and this is anything but bad, it's so damn adorable!!! I really hope this is good, it was so so much fun to write and I loved that idea so much. I apologize if this was a bit overboard or not really what you wanted! And, hey, nothing wrong with wanting to see Saiki being soft, I mean, don’t we all? You have an amazing day or night yourself! Thank you so so much for this request!

Reader is male! This is very cute! No warnings.

Italics are Kusuo “speaking” aka telepathy.
In which the reader and Kusuo go on a cute date, but the nuisances stumble upon them, forcing Kusuo to introduce his boyfriend.
—————————————————–
“Kusuo! I’m here!” You yelled out into his house. You’d received a telepathic message that said nothing more than Come over from your boyfriend. Interested, you were quick to arrive at his house, feeling free to just let yourself in. You opened the door looking for him, walking into the house.
“There you are!” You exclaimed, happily running towards him. Kusuo was quick to open his arms, pulling you in for a hug with a small smile. You were rather lucky, being the only person to ever see him this sweet and soft. The two of you hugged for a short time, neither one wanting to let go. It had been merely two days since you’d last gotten a chance to see each other, but it felt like an eternity. Separating from the hug, you looked up at Kusuo, your smile growing. You stared at him for a bit, before opening your mouth to speak.
“So what did you need?” You said, a more serious expression replacing your previous smile. Kusuo froze at your question, clearly not sure how to answer.
“...Nothing. I just missed you.” He reluctantly replied, trying to hide his face without making it obvious he was even the slightest bit flustered. As your smile came back, you had an idea.
“Kuu! Let’s go somewhere!”
“Where are you thinking?” An ironic question - as he knew exactly where you wanted to take him. All you did was smile, grab his hand, and make your way downstairs. Off to the park, it was! After a quick stop in the kitchen to pack some lunch boxes, you and your boyfriend were out the door.
Sitting hand in hand, casually eating your lunches and chatting, you and Kusuo were quite happy on your date. It was perfect out, there was a nice light breeze and it was far from too hot out. Kusuo was calm and relaxed, which was a rare occurrence. He usually looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and it probably wasn’t an obscene guess to assume he really did.
Despite that, you enjoyed being like this. It was so nice to see Kusuo relax, and you knew he appreciated the chance for peace and quiet. You’d made sure he put his ring on before sitting down so that he could truly enjoy it with you. Even if that meant less talking from him, he hated actually speaking - you really didn't mind, he was able to relax. Besides, he loved listening to you talk to him anyway. Kusuo’s eyes were closed as he rested his head on your shoulder. Lunch was long finished and you were telling him about something silly that happened at school the other day. It was so clear how badly he needed this, and you were more than happy to oblige.
Suddenly, that was all ruined as his shoulders tensed up, and his head lifted off your shoulder. You heard it too.
“Hey, pal!”
Nendou. Great.
“Hey look, it’s Saiki! Oh- who’s that he's with?” Teruhashi? Was she here too? You’d heard all about his so-called friends, but never met them as Kusuo “didn’t want you to suffer from their stupid”. You adjusted your hand that was holding Kusuo’s, carefully moving so that his ring would come off but you wouldn’t have to let go. You could tell having them here without being able to read their thoughts was a stressful experience for him.
Kusuo let out a sigh, now being able to identify who had come up behind him. He counted three, recognizing the thoughts of Nendou, Teruhashi, and Kaidou. This was not preferable. He was in no way prepared for them to meet his boyfriend, he hadn’t even told them he had one. He felt your thumb rubbing circles on his hand in comfort. He may act like he doesn’t like his friends, but you knew he was scared they wouldn’t accept him nonetheless. Despite being able to read their thoughts, it was still anxiety-inducing for him to actually have to tell them.
Teruhashi was first to take note of how relaxed he looked (despite his current internal struggle), and your hands being interlocked together. She was highly observant, after all. You were sitting close enough to him that your arms were touching. Was her conclusion really correct?
“Saiki? Is that… Are you...?” She trailed off, not sure if she should continue or not.
Kaidou picked up where she left off, “You have a boyfriend?”. He said as he pointed towards your hands, still tightly locked together.
Kusuo looked over to you, where you simply nodded to him, silently letting him know it’s okay to continue. He sighed, was he really ready? Oh well. No avoiding it now.
“Yes. I’m gay. And… Y/N. His name is Y/N.” He stood up to face them as he spoke, pulling you with him. You extended your other hand out to shake each of his friends' hands, politely introducing yourself to each of them.
All of his friends were focused on how close the two of you seemed. They saw already how happy you made Kusuo, and they were all prepared to support him no matter what. They had no idea he was gay but were delighted that he now trusted them enough to tell them. What they couldn’t believe was how sweet he was being? They saw before, he was all cuddled up to you? Never had any of them imagined Kusuo could be so soft towards someone. He seemed really attached to you, and they’d never seen him more relaxed nor this content. It was clear Kusuo wanted to be near you - something none of them had ever seen from him before. It was something he would likely never admit out loud, but it was made clear by his actions and his body language around you. It was a strange sight to see but in the best possible way.
Even more, you seemed way too sweet to be with someone like Kusuo. You had a large smile painted on your face the entire time, and it seemed like on the surface you were polar opposites. They just didn’t expect you to be Kusuo’s type. They were really learning a lot about him today, huh? Somehow they unanimously agreed they’d never expected someone like you to be with him, but needless to say, if Kusuo of all people liked you, you had to be pretty great.
“Well,” Teruhashi started, “we’d better leave you to enjoy your date. Have fun!” She spoke, walking away with the two others as not to impose. As they left, the group discussed what they’d just discovered. They were shocked. But overall they were excited for you both, although still, a tad bit surprised both at Kusuo having a boyfriend and his entirely different demeanor.
“I don’t believe it,” Kaidou spoke in a tone of pure confusion, “Saiki can show emotion?” The rest of the group laughed a bit, clearly, he was kidding, although they did agree with him. It seemed Nendou hadn’t understood the situation, he was even more confused than Teruhashi and Kaidou. None of them could quite comprehend what they’d seen but were rather happy about having learned of a new side to their pink-haired friend.
After Kusuo’s friends left, it was decided that it was time to go home. That had been pretty emotionally draining for Kusuo, and it was better to give him a chance to rest. Once the picnic was packed, you walked back to his house, still hand in hand (Kusuo not-so-secretly preferred it that way).
Once back at his house, you made your way up to his room. Kusuo looked up at you, tears in his eyes. You pulled him in so that his head was resting on your chest and you wrapped your arms around him. Worried, you pet his hair and let him let his feelings out.
“They… accepted me. Y/N, they accepted us.” You’d never seen Kusuo smile so wide.
“Of course they did Kusuo, they do genuinely like you.”
Kusuo let out a small sniffle. You could tell just how much their acceptance meant to him. He started moving towards his bed, that whole ordeal was tiring. He needed a nap. You started gathering your things, getting ready to leave so that he could sleep in peace when you felt your hand being grabbed.
“Stay. Please?”
“Of course.”
You laid down beside him, allowing him to roll over and be close to you. As Kusuo dozed off, you continued to pet his hair, planting a small kiss on the top of his head every now and then. You both stayed like that the rest of the night, you eventually dozing off as well. It had been one of the best dates you’d ever had.
