Memoirs of a Summoner: Part 1
Rules are simple my fellow Summoners, the prompt works for anyone and everyone. Feel free to use them but with credits. This works for canon (Kiran, nonbinary/male/female), original characters, and self-inserts/readers.
Ship intention: Alfonse X Reader / Summoner X Reader? Note: Okay uhh here’s a quick thing, the Summoner can be Kiran, your OC, whatever you’d like because there will be two important ppl in this short fic - YOU, the reader and the Summoner. So yeah, take your pick. And happy reading!
This is a really old fic that I made last year (May) 2021, I never went through with it but it was an interesting thought if we’re gonna you know... take in account of the official art for the Summoner. You see I like me my mystery men but the summoner can be any gender depending on your preference
-----
PART 1
You’re not the Summoner. You’re only but a faceless member of the Order of Heroes. You grew up reading and listening to stories about the Legendary Great Hero who would one day wield Breidablik to bring peace to the continent, and end this senseless war. You wanted to do your part, much like anyone else.
Commander Anna knows you - of course she does, as commander, she should know the names and faces of every single member who volunteered for this cause. And that alone she’s grateful to you.
But the Askran siblings - you know they were nice, and you know that they have the same goal as you. But you weren’t important and you weren’t a Hero - when you die, no one will remember your name. You’re just one of those nameless soldiers who died for the sake of their kingdom. A sacrifice. Cannon fodder.
You knew this and yet you fought anyway. It was all for your family. It was all for the friends you left in the village. Because someone needs to help.
Training was all left to you and ranking members who weren’t anything special in the order. Your captains did their best to make sure that your training was on par with the Heroes, making sure that none of you were in the way, making sure you all knew what to do. You were a few, couldn’t even call yourselves a platoon. A lot of people tend to forget that the Order had human beings like you, and when they say “Order of Heroes” it was.... well... always the Heroes and their reckless royal siblings.
The heir to the throne and his spare were both putting themselves at risks. Some of the few members understood it to be setting as an example, in hopes that more members would join and that they wouldn’t rely too much on Heroes. But in truth, it had an opposite effect. It was reckless, it was stupid, if both of them died, who would lead Askr to a future? If the King dies and both of them are gone, where is the future?
It wasn’t... royal like. You weren’t even part of the nobility, never even stepped foot into the royal castle. You were a mere commoner trying to make a living while protecting the kingdom in your own way. Even when there’s no recognition to it. The thought of fighting so your family wouldn’t was enough for you.
The Order didn’t make any money. It was mostly being funded by the government, and if the monthly budget didn’t make it - they had to think of ways. You reported the discovery of Aether Keep to the commander, and she commended you and your unit for a job well done. Your fellow members commended you guys for it, because it meant that no more part time jobs to feed those Heroes with your own labor. They weren’t all bad, the Heroes. Even though you were invisible to them, they showed kindness when they saw you.
But one thing did bother you. The royal siblings - Aether Keep was something of the past, to battle in the skies. It provided so much for the Order such as inns, crops, a music hall, everything they needed to relax for once instead of training on an endless basis. Yes, the commander, your comrades and some of the Heroes commended you for a job well done - but not them.
They were above you. You know that. They wouldn’t be talking to a lowly commoner like you, but it just bothered you. Because you and your unit found the Keep and yet... it was the Summoner who was congratulated. The Summoner who was praised.
You didn’t have any ill-will towards the Summoner. They were kind, concerned, innocent, good - they knew nothing about warfare and yet they did their part to help end this war. Just like you did when you first came. You were there to protect not for recognition.
Heroes who died could be revived, thanks to the Summoner’s powers. But your comrades... your comrades who fell did not share the same mercy from the gods. When they die, they die. Cannot be revived. It wasn’t the Summoner’s fault. You keep on telling yourself.
You saw it with your eyes. The Muspell flames.
Your task was simple, you and your unit were to go to a certain place in Askr to see what was going about. A woman who seemed to be like a Hero to you, was fighting by herself while the village was being destroyed, burn down into ashes until there was nothing left. You knew this village, you knew these fields - you used to come with your siblings to play around while your parents were having their own leisure of an alone time.
Now it’s gone. Nothing but the red sky and ash smoke. You fought. You all fought. But it was no use. None of you had magic, that wasn’t the law of your world. Mages were rare and not all mages wanted to sacrifice their lives for nothing. You watched your captain burning, reaching his hand to you as you felt the painful fuel of the flames of Muspell.
Run. He said with his dying breath. Run. Warn them.
Miraculously, as if it were the Dragon of Askr’s will - you made it back to the Order of Heroes. Your skin covered in burns and all you could mutter to your Commander was one phrase: The flames... the flames....
None of them thanked you. Few of the Heroes (mostly the Heroes who healed you) thanked you for your service, and gave their condolences for the loss of your friends. You were in your room, ordered to stay in and rest, Sakura and Wrys would come to you four times a day to tend to your burns - and try to cheer you up. They would bring friends, although you were thankful for their kindness - your heart still felt the loss of your unit... your squad, your family.
The commander came and offered her condolences and had assured you that their families have been well compensated, all Anna hoped for was for you to forgive yourself.
Even when you’re stuck in your room trying to regain your health, you weren’t important. You knew you weren’t important. Everyone was more focused on this new Hero named Fjorm from the Kingdom of Nifl. And as always, the Summoner was praised for finding her.
The Summoner this.
The Summoner that.
The Summoner wasn’t the one fighting the battles, it was all you and your comrades. The faceless, nameless comrades who died... who were just forgotten because they weren’t Heroes.
You couldn’t help but hate the Summoner. Hate the Prince. Hate the whole Order.
None of you were important. The volunteers from Askr were not important. Even when everyone dines together in the mess hall, you all knew your place. You had your own place at the edge of the hall as the Heroes dine and laugh with the higher members such as the commander, the Summoner, and the royal siblings. There was such a wall between the normal folk and the Heroes - there finally came a time where some volunteers... left during the war with Muspell and Embla.
Because you all didn’t feel welcome in the ranks at all.
"You’re leaving too?!” You could hear Commander Anna’s reaction from across the corridors of the ancient castle.
“I am so sorry Commander.” Your fellow comrade bowed in apology, behind the pillar you couldn’t help but listen and started thinking for yourself as well. “But even when all our goals are the same, to stop this war and protect the ones we love... I don’t feel welcome at all Ma’am. It’s not your fault or the Heroes. It’s just... I can’t keep it up anymore. I’m tired of trying to keep up with big names and we’re just... us volunteers are just nothing.”
“Are... are you all feeling this way?” The Commander’s tone was sincere. Broken. As if she was starting to question her own leadership.
“We all have... especially since (y/n) came back to us.” Your comrade admitted in complete shame. “She and her unit... her captain brought out the best in us, trained us, took care of us. But seeing their sacrifices meant nothing to the Order - what’s the point of service if we’re just going to be forgotten in the end?”
“I didn’t...” The commander was in utter shock. She couldn’t comprehend on how this was going around the volunteer members. “I wasn’t...”
“We don’t blame you ma’am. And we are grateful for the opportunity to serve Askr. We have... outlived our purpose now, ma’am. With all of these Heroes, you don’t need us anymore.” He bowed, you couldn’t help but feel his full sense of hesitation and even regret. “I’m really sorry ma’am. I wish you the best on the war effort.”
You couldn’t help but wonder if it was right. Did you truly outlive your purpose?
The following morning wasn’t better when you saw your roommate packing up their things. And you said. “You’re leaving too, huh?”
“Yeah,” your roommate casually answered as they continued to pack their belongings. “I gave my resignation to the Commander earlier. I don’t want to leave but… we’re not needed here anymore and the Order made that clear.”
“You’re a captain, what will happen to your unit?”
“My unit is leaving with me.” You looked at your roommate as they just finished packing. Giving you a smile of reassurance was all they could do for you. “It sounds like we’re ganging up on the Commander, doesn’t it?”
You were still in a state of shock. And yet, you didn’t question their decision, it was understandable. “I won’t lie… but it does… but… but why—I don’t understand.”
“Surtr is trying to attack every village he could find that doesn’t have a strong protection from the Order and the Knights. Commander Anna is doing everything in her power, we know that. King Gustav too and I know we have much more Heroes than before, and they’re a more capable bunch that us… they’ll do well.”
“What will you all do?”
Your roommate sighed. “We’re all going home to our respective villages. Muspell is playing with the Knights but they’re only defending the capital, the Order is more focused on gathering intel for the king but… even we were replaced by Heroes in that field. Protecting villages with no fighting force seems to be the most logical option. That’s what the others are doing. How ‘bout you?” Your roommate gave a wary smile. “Are you still going to stay?”
“Maybe.” You shrugged, avoiding eye contact. You didn’t know what to do. A part of you still wanted to be involved with the Order because of your beliefs but, the other part didn’t want you to say because none of you were being valued. “I’ll try to stay for a while, I won’t lie… leaving has also crossed my mind from time to time.”
Closing their suitcase, your roommate nodded. “Alright, I’ll see you in the village if you made up your mind then.”
After giving you a pat on the shoulder, you just watched your roommate leave. Things weren’t progressing as smoothly as everyone hopped for. Some of the Heroes did notice the decline of volunteer folks and you couldn’t help but wonder if this became a problem for the commander. You wondered if the Summoner or the Prince and Princess noticed it themselves. The more people left; the more Heroes were being summoned into the Order.
The mess hall was livelier than before now. With more Heroes meant more friends but, you looked around to only find almost no familiar faces that were in your circle. You realized; you were the only non-hero in the mess hall now. Everyone else left. The music, the laughter, the jokes, they were all noises for you now.
You were just one nameless soldier in a room filled with important figures.
“You haven’t touched your food (y/n), something on your mind?” You looked up to find one of the castle’s servants looking at you with concern. You didn’t realize that everyone in the mess hall was already gone, including the Commander and the Summoner.
“There is, actually.” You couldn’t help but sigh. “I’m also thinking of leaving.”
“You too?”
You smiled at that ironic question. “Yeah… me too. I guess leaving on my own free will is better than being sacked eventually. No one even noticed the decrease of numbers; the Summoner just keeps on replacing us anyway. The more Heroes they summon, who knows when the Commander will tell me to just sleep in a tent outside so they could have a room and a bed.” You joked.
The servant Dahlia sat across you, giving out a small pout. “Now, now… you know Anna wouldn’t do something like that.”
“It… just crossed my mind.” You answered honestly. “With the volunteers leaving, there would be more room in the barracks for the Heroes right? It hasn’t been even the following day and I already have a new neighbor. Maybe my comrades are right… we already outlived our purpose. Everything was simpler when Zacharias was still here.”
Dahlia just nodded. “Things were simpler when the captain was here but, he’s not anymore. Do you think Captain Zacharias would be happy seeing you all like this?”
No one knew what happened to Zacharias. Though he was close to Prince Alfonse and Princess Sharena since they were young, he used to be your unit captain. He took care all of you, trained you, scolded you, gave you wisdom – the Summoner was no replacement for him. Everyone knew that. Zacharias would want you to follow your heart. Not think of yourself a burden.
You shook your head. “Good.” Dahlia smiled. “No one can force you to stay or go, (y/n), that’s your decision to make. And if you’re leaving too well… all I can do is wish you luck on future endeavors.”
Perhaps with a bit of luck you would know what to do. But fortune frowns before you, you didn’t know what to do. For years, all you could think about was joining the Order of Heroes to do your part. To help fight and protect those who couldn’t protect themselves. The years were kind and fruitful, filled with laughter and friendship – but now they’re nothing but a shard of a memory as you walked down the cold, empty corridors of the castle.
In your room, you proceeded to write a letter. Describing your thoughts and explaining why your decision to leave the order was made. Neatly folding it, you left for the Commander’s chamber. Knowing Anna, she would still be awake by this time – after all, she was once a volunteer like you before the old man retired and chose her to be his successor.
In your mind, you rehearsed and rehearsed what you were going to say to her. How you made up your mind and will follow the decision of your former comrades. Many good soldiers came and went, and they were gone not because they were killed in the battlefield, but rather they left on their own free will.
You were about to knock, but for a single moment, you hesitated the moment you heard crying from inside.
Anna’s crying. You noted to yourself. Found yourself froze in front of the door, with your hand about to knock the door. You couldn’t do it. You wanted to. You wanted to leave. You were unhappy with what the Order has become and how you were all treated. You wondered if you were an ungrateful soul, wanting recognition for things you have done – things that any Hero would do, but because you had no name, you were nothing, you weren’t recognized.
You knew Anna was grateful, wasn’t that enough for you? Was it too much to ask for the whole Order to know the deeds you have done? The sacrifices that you had to endure? Hearing the commander cry made your heart feel even more pain than the burns on your skin.
“May I help you?” You jumped in fright, turning around to see the Summoner. “You heard the crying too, huh?”
“Yes… Summoner.” You looked down. Not wanting to look into their eyes. Even if you did, you couldn’t see them. The Summoner always wore their hood and no one has ever seen their face. Some did speculate that only members of the royal family and the commander are able to do so, but there was never any proof.
But Kiran already had an idea why you were in front of Anna’s room. “What’s that on your hand?” They asked quietly. It wasn’t stern or serious, but rather calm and worried.
“My… resignation, Summoner.”
Kiran nodded. “You’re leaving too. I see… may I ask why?”
Why?! You wanted to snap. How… how could they? After everything you and your comrades did for this Order, wasn’t it obvious why you chose to follow? But it was late and you didn’t want to cause anymore trouble for Anna. You’d be gone in the morning anyway. So, you answered. “I don’t belong here anymore, Summoner.”
The Summoner was quiet, but continued to listen to what you had to say. “I’m aware of the damages that this war has caused the kingdom. I’m also aware of the selfishness that has come to mind, thinking about myself rather than the benefit of those who need our protection. I won’t speak for my comrades who left before me – but I’m not being valued here. When a soldier leaves, a Hero takes our place right? We’re not important to this Order. Not anymore.”
“I see.” The summoner was calmer than you expected them to be. You were waiting to be scolded with the importance of duty. The Summoner was a tactician, one of the keys to the Order’s victory in so many battles. They were the Legendary Great Hero, who would ever doubt them? Who would put them in the wrong? “Here,” the summoner spoke as they offer their hand. “I’ll give it to her for you. I wish you the best.”
It was all you could hear from anyone at this point. Not all of your burns have been healed up and yet, it feels like your heart too, was also burning from the pain. You bowed in the Summoner’s presence as if they were of high importance. In this castle, you couldn’t help but wonder what the Summoner was really like behind that hood of theirs.
The Summoner never really spends time with normal troops, they were always with the Heroes. People expected Prince Alfonse to take on that role more, since he’s the crown prince but to no avail as well. He too, was also hands on with the Heroes.
You couldn’t even sleep that evening. All you could wonder was the whole impossible idea: would people still be leaving if Captain Zacharias was still in your ranks?
You found yourself packing the following morning, ignoring the rushing footsteps from outside of your room. You jumped in shock the moment the door burst opened to find Anna holding your resignation in her hand, and the Summoner calmly standing behind her. The commander was taking deep breathes, you wondered how long she actually ran. From her face alone, you knew she had a sleepless night too – the bags in her eyes were deep, stains of tears could be seen on her cheek.
But none of that mattered to her anymore, all that mattered was her proposition to you. “(y/n)!” She shouted with determination as your eyes both met. Her gaze was even burning hotter than Muspell flames. “I have a proposition for you!”
In a sense, knowing the commander for so long, a part of you already knew that she didn’t accept your resignation and is about to offer you something you can’t refuse. “Be my steward!” Anna stopped, knowing that she said the wrong words to you.
You blinked. “Forgive me commander,” you answered as you closed your luggage. “But I do not see how that will make me stay.” You were confused. What soldier would want a stewardship? You thought that they were taking you as a servant. The order doesn’t pay well, you were stuck doing side jobs just to send back money to your family back in the village.
“Ack!” Anna couldn’t help but scratch her whole head with both of her hands, letter still in hand. “I’m! I’m sorry! Those words were completely wrong! COMPLETELY WRONG! What I’m trying to say is – PLEASE STAY!” The commander clapper her hands together, bowing in front of you. This sight alone was enough to make you feel worse as it is.
You knew Anna before she became commander. All of the people who left knew her personally before she took on the burden of the Order. Even with the fancy titles and all – she was still Anna, but compared to you, Anna was more important. She had more significance. “I – I know I’m not doing my best to make you all feel welcome. Especially when Kiran had been summoning Heroes left and right increasing our numbers! But I want to make things better for everyone! So please (y/n)! Give me another chance!”
If it was their previous commander, this attitude wouldn’t stand. They respected Anna but respect wasn’t the problem, it was pure negligence.

_____________________________________________________
“Catch me if you can!” You called out to behind you, giggling all the while. Claude was laughing too, running after you as you ran through the monastery. “Or are you just too slow?” You teased, running across the bridge to the ruined chapel.
“Don’t be so cocky! Don’t you know you’re running from a master tactician?” He called right back, hardly two meters behind you. You picked up the pace, sure you could lose him in the church and then run back across the bridge without him noticing.
“There’s not much to think about! We’re just playing tag!” You laughed, watching as the guards hurriedly opened the door for the two of you running into the chapel. You burst in, turning right sharply so you would be going down the stairs to one of the lower areas. You barely slowed down, heart pumping too fast to care if you tripped on your way down the steps. Claude was right behind you but the steps surprised him and he had to take a moment to catch himself, giving you enough time to rush down the stairs yourself. By the time you reached the bottom Claude was half way down. You were too caught up in going up the next set, that you didn’t see his eyes light up. He would cut you off in the church its self– there were only two ways you could leave, after all, through the main entrance or the one leading to the goddess tower. Either way, he had your cornered.
“That mistake will cost you, _____! I’ll catch you before you know it!” You heard Claude’s distant voice call to you. Looking briefly over your shoulder, you saw his climbing the stars you just decended. You didn’t have time to worry about his plan as you took the next set of stairs two at a time. You had to stay ahead of him!
You rushed past people and animals at a break neck speed, trying to regulate your breathing and ignore the stain in your leg and guts. Claude was right when he said this would be a much more fun way to get your training in, that was for sure but now you didn’t want to lose to him. As you entered the church you saw Claude come in through the main entrance. Pushing yourself even more, you ran to the left exit, seeing the Goddess tower and getting a fantastic idea. Claude couldn’t tag you if he couldn’t touch you!
“Just try and get me!” You laughed with renewed vigor. Claude didn’t know where you got all this energy, he was just as ready to call it quits. Reaching the exit himself Claude could only wonder why you choose to go to the Goddess tower and trap yourself. With no time to question it, he simply followed you through the open front door, hearing your footsteps echo loudly as you climbed the tower. Claude could hear your heavy breathing, just over his own, and figured he had you at this point.
“Too bad for you–!” Claude blinked as he watched you push open and close the large door shut right before him. He tried to push it open, hearing your breathing just on the other side. He gave a push, only to meet with resistance; you were on the other side, using the last of your strength to make sure he didn’t get the door open!
“Guess… guess I win this one.” You laughed through the door, slowly regaining your breath. You could still hear your heart beating wildly in your ears, feel the heavy thumping of your chest as you panted.
“I… gotta admit.” Claude let out a chuckle. “You seem to have got me this time, _____.” His voice was muffled though the heavy wood of the door. It was quiet a moment, then, the both of you waiting for the other to move, to speak. “But… you’ll have to leave, eventually. And as of now, I have a lot of free time of my hand.” He laughed, sliding down to sit with his back against the door, just as you were on the other side.
“You gotta be kidding me.” You huffed. “Can’t you just admit I’ve beat you? Just this once?” You pleaded.
“Mm…” Claude pretended to think on it. “No, I don’t think so.”
“Surely our army needs its leader, no?” You countered.
“The professor has things handled! I’m training, after all.” He laughed.
“I could leave out one of the windows…” You hummed.
“I’ll be waiting below to catch you in my waiting arms.” He said. “To make sure you don’t get hurt. And then maybe win.”
“What can I do to make you leave me?” You sighed.
“Oh? Are you bribing with me?” Claude’s voice came in such a way that you knew this was a bad idea. Your pride left you with little other choice, though.
“What do you want, Claude?” You sighed. Your gut was twisting in a way that wasn’t entirely uncomfortable but still had your heart beating as fast as it was during your little chase.
“Do you remember 5 years ago? When we were here alone like this?” He said softly. You hardly caught the words.
“How could I forget? It was on the night of the heron ball…” You remembered it fondly but stayed alert; he was probably just trying to lower your guard after all.
“You promised to stay by my side… until I could see my dream fulfilled.” He sighed wistfully.
“I’m still here,” You said, heart jumping into your throat. It was getting harder to speak.
“And I appreciate that, friend. I don’t know what I would do without you…” He took a deep breath, one you could hear clearly from your side of the door. “Since we found our way here again, would you mind if I made one more selfish request of you?” His voice had gone so soft. You were leaning closer to the door, straining to hear his every word.
“I-I don’t mind.” Your words stumbled out of your mouth. Even without seeing Claude, his words had your blushing. You were glad for this door between you, lest he see your fluster.
“Would you mind staying with me, even after this war is over?” There was more he wanted to say but the words caught in his throat. Claude found it hard to speak with the silence that followed.
“Claude…” Your voice saying his name so sweetly had him taking deep breaths, reminding himself to say composed. “What are you trying to say?” You swallowed thickly at the lump forming in your throat, both thrilled and scared about where this conversation was heading.
“I… I guess I’m saying I love you.” Even if the door hadn’t been between the two of you, Claude’s words would still have been mumbled. His heart was pounding faster than it ever had been minutes before when he was chasing you, the thought of rejection playing on his mind.
“…You’re not playing with me, are you? This isn’t some cruel joke to get me to open the door?” You asked back softly, doubt playing with your fragile feelings.
“N-no! I would never do anything like that!” Claude quickly scrambled to his feet despite their complaint, facing the door as he spoke earnestly. “____, I swear, I love you more than I could ever express!” Slowly, Claude watched as you opened the heavy wooden door, looking at him with eyes that glistened with unshed tears.
“You promise?” You asked, softly, taking a step back into the Goddess Tower proper.
“I promise.” Claude followed in after you, small smile gracing his face as he watched you light up.
“Then… yeah. I’d like to stay by your side, Claude. Now and always.” You took a deep breath, moving closer to pull him into you. “I love you too.” Claude placed a chaste kiss to your forehead, arms finding way around your hips as yours wound around his neck.
“I guess in the end I do win.” He chuckled softly, causing your cheeks to flush. “After all… in the end not only did I catch you but your heart as well.” You pouted at him as he laughed on, sighing and rolling your eyes.
“Fine… fine. You win again.” You couldn’t help but smile, though, too happy to really care about your loss at his hand. “Just don’t brag too much, okay?” You asked.
“Of course not! I have much more important things to brag about now, like how I’m so lucky to have you.” He placed another kiss on your nose and you were left sputtering and blushing at his affectionate gestures.
“O-okay, actually, that’s worse. I would much prefer you brag about beating me!” You whined, hiding your face in his chest.
“Aww, it’s okay.” He cooed. “I swear, after while everyone else will be begging me to shut up too. You won’t be the only one embarrassed then!”
“Claude!” You looked up at him with wide eyes and flushed face and Claude once again found himself struck by you.
“Though… maybe if you kiss me enough, I’ll stay quiet.” He winked, looking down at you.
“W-we’ll see…” You huffed. If he was going to act like that, he could wait for his kisses. “Let’s just leave here, the rumors are already going to spread once we’re seen leaving together…” You sighed.
“And that’s just why I have to speak louder than any gossip.” He laughed. You shook your head, going down the stairs with him hand and hand this time. Who knew being ‘it’ could be so sweet?

Thank You
Just as the title states, this is a Christmas/Solmare appreciation and thank you. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to try and do for this year’s anniversary. The only thing I could think of was a short story starring the wonderful characters that Solmare has given us. Those who have routes and those who don’t. (This story will be a reader insert, which was a bit hard for me because I think this is the first time I’ve written a reader-insert story, so I really hope I’ve done it justice.)
I know that right now, there’s quite a bit going on in the fandom, including some negativity regarding some of the new changes. The least I could try to do is try and write a thank you story and hopefully spread some smiles and positivity, because honestly? This game, as cheesy as it sounds, it probably the only reason why I’m even writing today. It gave me inspiration and motivation to keep pursuing my passion. So Solmare, thank you, thank you for releasing a game which has filled my life was joy and has kept the flame of passion alive in my heart.
"Clipboard...pen...shoot, where did I leave those papers at?"
While taking note of all the items I was needing for today, I realized that I was missing something important. A stack of papers with a list that was created just for today. I clipped the paper to the clipboard and began reading its contents, crossing out things on the list that were either completed or had been changed. As I did that I heard a tapping at the prefect office's window; fearing the worst, I carefully put down my stuff and made my way over to the window, pulling back the curtains and opening the window which revealed quite the sight.
"An owl?"
"Not just any owl, he's my familiar! Where are you?!"
"What do you mean 'where am I'? I'm here at the prefect office. I told you and the others that last night at the meeting."
"Yes, well, we could really use some more help over here. We're a little behind schedule over here."
"Why, what's going on?"
"We're having some issues with the decorations. Everyone has their hands full with all of the other tasks given to them."
Suddenly I heard a crash coming from Elias's familiar, followed by Elias' screams.
"Luca! Be more careful with those ornaments!"
"Sorry boss."
"Elias, we have a problem..." Alfonse's vice entered next
"What is it?"
"Felix is stuck in the massive tree we got."
"He what? How did this happen!?"
"Well...it's partially my fault, we were talking about the different kinds of trees and another student came along and accidentally cut one of the ropes binding the branches while we weren't paying attention. Now he's stuck somewhere in the branches with a lot of tree sap."
"You've got to be kidding me.."
"Um, guys?"
"Hey! Good to hear your voice!"
"Wait! Have you been listening this entire time?!"
"....yes."
"Ugh! Then hurry down here and help us! Oh and cut the call familiar!"
There was a sound of static and the owl began fluffing its feathers before leaping off the branch and then flying off into the blue sky. Meanwhile, I closed the window and moved the curtains back into place before grabbing my things and leaving the office.
I was checking my list once more the moment I reached the auditorium entrance, only to find my ears filled with screaming and people frantically running around. My eyes widened as I looked at the scene before me.
"Thank goodness you're here."
Elias ran up to my side, clearly out of breath.
"You weren't kidding when you said we were behind schedule." I sighed. "Okay, so give me a rundown on everything. What areas need the most help?"
"Decorations, including the ornaments -- speaking of which, Luca ended up breaking a few because of his carelessness. So Azusa, Leon and a couple of others are helping to make new ones."
"Alright, ornaments...tree..." I began jotting down on the paper. "Okay, so what about the lights?"
"Joel and Rex said that they have that all covered. They took a few students from the music club with them to help prepare."
"And the food and drinks?"
"Hisoka, Willem, Hugo, Vain and Yukiya are in charge of that."
"Vain's helping with cooking?"
"More like he's helping to keep Hiro, Zeus, and Ted away from eating everything, even though they're supposed to be helping set up the tables and chairs with me, Gray, Cerim, Lucious, Guy, and Caesar."
"Okay, I'm making a note of that, that way they can get an earful later." Once I was done writing, I clicked my pen and then put it into my pocket. "Alright, I'll go ahead and start making my rounds. If there's something else that comes up, send me a magic note."
"Will do."
Elias and I parted in two separate directions, with him going to go check on the setup and me, heading over to where the Christmas tree accident had occurred. By the time I got there, Alfonse was helping Felix brush the pine needles out of his hair, while Mel gazed at the tree, almost as if he was analyzing it.
"Hey everyone."
"Hey! Glad you could show up!" Alfonse beamed "As you can see, we're in a bit of a sticky situation at the moment."
"Can you please stop making puns of my predicament. At this rate, I'm going to be smelling like one of those scented pine cone air fresheners I hear about."
"But at least you'll smell like Christmas."
Felix grumbled something under his breath and then sighed.
"Anyways." Alfonse picked out a couple of more pine needles before tossing them into the small bowl he had right beside of him. "You're all done."
"Thank you, now can we please hurry this along so I can go and change into something a little cleaner."
"Right. Hey, Mel, we're going to be decorating the tree now, are you going to be helping us."
"That sounds like such a chore..."
Mel spoke nonchalantly before walking away.
"That human is one of the strangest that I've met so far."
"Mel just moves at his own pace and on his own agenda."
"Alfonse is right." I chuckled. "Mel has always been like that though. He'll probably show back up sooner or later and help out. But until then, I'm here to help out as much as I can."
I watched Alfonse and Felix give an appreciative smile my way before they began rummaging in the boxes, grabbing out multiple strands of lights.
"Now the real question is how are we going to get all of these things on there?"
"Simple, we'll use magic."
"For the whole tree? I can only imagine how tiring that will be."
"Tiring for you, but for me it'll be a piece of cake."
I watched as Felix put down the strand of lights on the ground before holding his hand in the air, waving it back and forth gently, which created rings of wind to wrap around each layer of branches on the tree.
"We'll drop the lights and that shiny stuff here and it'll travel up, wrapping itself in the proper place. Think of it as an upwards slide."
"That's incredible!"
Laughing, I took the strand of lights that Felix had put down and dropped it into the stream of air, watching it swirl and wrap around the tree. Alfonse followed suit and dropped his strand in there as well and before we knew it all the lights were on the tree. Then came the tinsel and when that was done, we reached for the ornament boxes.
"I'm not sure how well this is going to work for the ornaments."
"Perhaps I should change the current stream of air?"
"Or you could use our invention!"
A couple of new voices chimed from behind; it was Lars and Randy, each of them held a strange contraption in their hands.
"Hey you two, weren't you guys helping with the decorations for the tables and such?"
"We were."
"But we finished already."
"S-Seriously? That quick?!"
"Yep! With the help of our new invention."
"We call it...THE DECORATOR-INATOR 3000!"
Lars and Randy both shouted out with glee while holding up their inventions triumphantly above their heads.
"I keep thinking humans can't get any weirder and each time I'm proven wrong..."
"Hey, we're not weird. We're what you call...eccentric! Besides, after you see the power these things have, you'll be thanking us." Lars grinned.
"Shall we show them, Lars?"
"With pleasure, Randy."
The two of them began loading the water gun looking objects with ornaments before pointing and firing them at different parts of tree. Within just mere minutes, the tree was covered in ornaments, except for a few places that would later be filled in with the ornaments that Azusa, Leon and the others were making.
"Lars, Randy, that was amazing!"
"Haha, thank you!"
Lars and Randy took a bow and as they did, a small butterfly-shaped note came flying in my direction, landing in the palm of my hand. As I opened it and began reading the contents, I could feel the color drain from my face. It was from Elias and it looked like Vain was currently in a fistfight with one of the three hungry beasts, as he called them.
"You've got to be kidding me..."
"What is it?"
"I'll see you guys in a little bit, there's some things that are needing my attention."
I left the area as fast as I could, bolting right for the place where Willem and the others would be setting up. There I saw Vain with Ted in a headlock while Hugo was keeping Zeus and Hiro at bay with his magic, allowing Hisoka and the others to begin moving the food to their proper places.
"Zeus, Hiro, Ted! What is the meaning for all of this!?"
My voice boomed loudly, drawing the attention of not only them but others in the surrounding area as well.
"Hey, stay out of this."
"Yeah, they're denying us food and now they're attacking us."
Ted's words almost mumbled as he struggled against Vain's strength.
I sat my clipboard down and then proceeded to take a deep breath before shouting out as loudly as I could, sending a wave of primitive magic their way. Vain, Zeus, Ted and Hiro all staggered back a little bit, before looking at me.
"Good. Now that I have your attention, let me start by stating that you three." I pointed at Zeus, Hiro and Ted. "Were supposed to be helping unload the tables and chairs for Elias' team for setup. Instead, I hear about you all goofing off! So here's what's going to happen. All of you are going to go to your original positions, or I'll never make food for you ever again."
"But..!"
"Are you serious?!"
"Yes, I'm serious. Now go."
I watched as Zeus and Hiro left, once they did Vain let go of his grasp on Ted before looking at me.
"Nice one little bunny."
I rolled my eyes at his remark and reached out to my clipboard when a new voice called out.
"Nice one indeed."
"Viggo? What are you doing here?"
"I heard that the meathead and his little band of misfits had gotten themselves in a bit of a pickle. So I came out to check it out, sure enough, there was quite the show going down, one that I thoroughly enjoyed."
"There was nothing enjoyable about that at all." Hugo spoke up while glaring at Viggo. "How about making yourself useful and helping us next time with those idiots since you think you're such a tough guy."
I heard a scoff come from Vain as Viggo looked at Hugo with disbelief.
"Tsk. I got other things to do than help you guys."
Without another word, Viggo took out his pipe and disappeared within the smoke.
"So much for that. How about you guys?" I turned to look at the others. "Are you guys doing alright?"
"Yeah, we'll be fine as long as those fools don't come back again."
I sighed. "They always do this at any occasion. When they hear that there's going to be food, it's like they have feral instincts that kick in."
"Well, if they try it again, then I can't make any promises on their well-being."
"V-Vain..."
"Don't mind him." Hugo walked up to me. "He's probably grumpy that he has to actually do work for this event and not go and pick on Felix and Willem."
"Speaking of which...he..he hasn't tried to do anything to Willem, has he?"
"No. Not yet. I'm keeping him in line right now." Hugo smiled. "Point is, we'll be alright, thanks for helping out."
"Oh hey! Hugo?"
"Yeah?"
"What made you want to come out and help us?"
I watched as Hugo's face turned a light shade of red. "I didn't have anything better to do."
With that, Hugo briskly walked away, joining up with the others. Meanwhile, I took a look around and smiled. Everything was going smoothly now. The tree was set, the food was being set up and I was sure that Elias' team had probably set all the tables and chairs up as well. All that was left were the lights that were supposed to be hung up around the ceiling. That was supposed to be Rex and Joel's jobs, but I hadn't seen them at all yet.
"Hey, Elias?" I had just walked over to where Elias was at the great progress they had made.
"Oh, hey, what is it?"
"Have you seen Rex and Joel? I haven't seen or heard from them at all yet and I'm beginning to get a little worried."
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling the same way."
"So you haven't heard from them either then?"
"Nope, not since they left with a couple of others. They said they had something planned for us. "
"I hope they show up soon..."
"Hey, it'll be alright. How about we take a breather. You've been working yourself pretty hard. Bouncing back and forth from station to station to help and even keep the peace."
"I don't know..."
I watched as Elias pulled a chair out and gestured for me to take a seat. I took up his offer after pondering for what seemed like an eternity. Elias then pulled out the chair next to me and took a seat.
"So, I never asked this before, but why in the world did you decide to come up with and organize this whole thing?"
"I got the idea after I heard some students talking. They said they couldn't go home for holidays for their own personal reasons. So, I decided to come up with a plan to host a big Christmas party here at the Academy for all the students that are staying here. That way they don't feel alone during the holidays. When brought it up to Schuyler, the idea was almost immediately accepted. But, I had to make sure that everything would fit the Academy rules and would be cleaned up and in tip-top shape afterward."
"I see. That's rather a thoughtful thing to do."
"You know what surprised me the most though?"
"What?"
I smiled and leaned back into my chair.
"I'm surprised that all of you have come together to help me out with this. I mean, you and Alfonse could have gone home already for the holidays."
"We both wanted to help you out first before going back home. For the last five years, we've all had Christmas together. I suppose it's become such a common thing that the thought of not having a Christmas spent you and the other would be...weird."
"I feel the same way."
Elias and I chatted for a little while longer before a magic note had landed on the table right in front of Elias. I watched his face as he read it and watched as he raised an eyebrow.
"Something wrong?"
"Well...yes and no." Elias then handed me the magic note and I began to look over the contents. "It looks like Joel and Rex teamed up with Nox and Clive and they'll be unveiling the lights later on when the sun goes down."
I put down the letter and sighed. "Let's hope they'll be there or the lighting ceremony won't go according to plan."
"Even if it doesn't, everything will be alright. We'll bounce back from it."
I smiled. "You're right."
Minutes blew by and soon a couple of hours passed before Joel and his team returned back to us. Other students had gathered at the Auditorium by this point, all were engaged in chatter or dancing to the music that was being played through speaker magic. Even Klaus, Vincent and Glenn were engaged in chatter while taking drinks of their punch. Everyone seemed to be in such a good mood that it brought a smile to lips. That's when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"We're ready to go whenever you want to gather everyone up."
"Awesome! Hey, everyone!" I grabbed my wand and recited an incantation which was followed up with a puff of pink smoke. "Hello? Testing one, two, three."
Everyone began gathering around after I had cast my own speaker magic.
"Alright everyone, it's with great joy that I announce that the lighting ceremony for this year's party is about to begin!"
Applause filled the room and I stepped out of the way for Joel and the other to take their place. Suddenly, there was a spotlight of light magic coming from a few students who held their wands up high, shining down on Joel and Rex. Rex had a portable keyboard that he had set up and was now beginning to play. His fingers moved gracefully over each key as each cheery note filled the room which soon followed by Joel's sweet soothing voice.
He matched the same key that Rex was playing in and timed every single one of his notes to the keyboard. As the music began to reach its peak, so did Joel's singing which began to send orbs of light soaring through the room like shooting stars through a beautiful night sky. Gasps filled the room as some of the lights which hovered like small little lanterns, while the others shot out towards the tree, lighting it up instantly.
There was a roar of applause and clapping when the music died down. Joel was practically breathless as he walked down from the small stage that had been set up. Afterward, people resumed their normal conversations. I had just scooped out a bit of punch into my cup when I looked out at the scene before me. Smiles could be seen and laughter could be heard filling up the room.
"Thank you...for another wonderful year." I smiled. "and to many more.."
I lifted the cup to my lips and took a sip before heading over to the center of the room to converse with everyone. I was beyond happy to have made it another year with the ones I loved the most and I hoped that the future was filled with more fun-filled years just like these.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Alfonse & Sharon | Sharena Characters: Alfonse (Fire Emblem), Sharon | Sharena Additional Tags: Trans Character, Trans Male Character, Trans Female Character, Sibling Bonding Series: Part 1 of can you tell me what it's like (or how it's going to be?) Published: 2018-06-01 Word Count: 936 Summary:
Alfonse came to Sharena with this in the first place because nobody else would cut his hair short like he wanted.
my thoughts under the cut
ah yes. the start of my trans alfonse fics... of which i still have at least two i want to write, still. maybe even three or four. funny how that works out, sometimes. anyway funny things happen when you’re trans and want to write some Trans Stuff, including fully embracing headcanons you don’t necessarily share just because you think “well this content needs to exist and if hardly anybody else is writing it then i guess i have to”
and i also wanted to write sibling bonding so i... did
i also managed to fit in a complaint about getting haircuts and how the hairdressers never seem to cut it like i want (not inserted in here is the whole Thing they do where they’re like “oh but it’d be such a SHAME to cut your hair short, it’s so beautiful...” like miss i am Paying you please just do what i want. but i digress) which is pretty funny and good in my opinion
i also had a fun struggle with this fic because i didn’t want to use the word trans because i wasn’t quite sure alfonse and sharena would have or know the word for that? (spoiler tho. the third fic in the series, though not done yet, is basically gonna be about that so i don’t have to DEAL WITH THIS anymore because oh my god it’s so hard) but obviously i had to make it clear some OTHER way that they’re both trans and it was hard not to make it extremely awkward. think i did pretty okay, though
this is actually one of my favorite fics i’ve written, this and my other trans alfonse fic. idk what it is, maybe it’s just that writing about trans people makes me happy. either way, big faves
i love trans sharena a lot? i feel like i might be one of the only people with that as a headcanon that i know of, but it’s REALLY GOOD, OKAY... please let this cute bubbly trans lesbian into your heart. i love you sharena fire emblem
trans zacharias/bruno is also a good headcanon, despite being barely implied in this fic. this i feel less alone with tho bc i’ve had plenty of friends just go “yeah he’s trans” when i talk about it. it’s good. thanks pals. (also now i feel obligated to either make a standalone post abt trans bruno or just. ramble on about it in my commentary for the next fic in this series. either way I Will and Soon)
the ao3 description for this series is “everyone is trans and there’s nothing you can do about it” which is also very good. i don’t know how many people noticed that, i think it’s worth pointing out. it’s honestly just how i described this series to people on the brufonse discord server. it’s also a mood. just love rubbing my trans little hands on everything i love. i’ve claimed it. it’s mine now
favorite part: “I already did half of what you’re going to do, though, and that turned out… well, it wasn’t great, but it’s okay? It could have been worse! And besides, aren’t we going to be doing what’s right?”
“Fighting for our people… I wish we didn’t have to, but they are our people. It’s our duty to protect them, any way we can.”
“Not just that, though you’re not wrong!” Sharena laughed a little, almost nervously, stepping back. Alfonse knew better than to open his eyes just yet, she was just checking over her work right now. “I was thinking more like… what’s right for us? It’d be unfair to ourselves if we just let people keep on thinking I was a boy, or that you’re a girl. Okay, you can look now!”

__________________________________________________________
Alfonse knew how you loved the preforming art festivals; it was one of his favorites too, seeing how happy and carefree all the heroes looked. It was a great distraction from what was happening. For you, himself and of course the heroes that participated as well. For the few years it had been going on you had always insisted Alfonse sit next to you to watch as heroes danced, sung, and played to their heart's content. And every year, without fail, his eyes would end up drifting from the stage to you instead.
You always did look so happy watching the heroes at play. Your eyes would light up, reflecting the shimmer of dresses and flashes of color; your mouth would open slightly in that cute way it did when you became so memorized by something you couldn’t bear to look away. And of course, the charming way you called out to him never failed to make him blush.
“Oh Alfonse! Alfonse look! Don’t Berkut and Rinea just look so darling on the stage together?” You cooed, sighing as said couple waved happily to the two of you. You waved back enthusiastically and Alfonse gave a small wave of his own, unable to hide his fluster as the two of them sent a knowing look his way. Alfonse had been working up the courage to tell you how he felt for well, years now… But still, he felt he couldn’t admit his feelings for you.
“They really are happy together, aren’t they?” He sighed dreamily, gaze once again leading him to you. You, who he desperately wished he could take to that grand stage one day. You, who never failed to make him smile and feel such deep love. You, who Alfonse wished he had the courage to simply hold your hand…
“Yeah! I hope one day I can be that in love with someone…” You sighed sweetly in return, gaze softening ever so softly. Alfonse could feel it then, the way his love for you grew so greatly and overtook him that moment; you just looked so happy, eyes carefully tracing the dancers on stage, gentle lights highlighting your features. In the moment, Alfonse had never been more love with you. He couldn’t help the words that tumbled out of his mouth, clumsy as they came.
“Um…” His voice caught your attention and suddenly those stunning eyes were on him, taking his very breath away. Still, he found the will to continue speaking, love for you outweighing any other feeling at the moment. “Could... I hold your hand?” His voice squeaked a little, for no matter how much he loved you, Alfonse would always be a nervous wreck but you didn’t seem to mind, eyes widening as your own nervous words dropped from your lips.
“Oh,” In return, you were turning pink, unsure how to tell him more than anything, you would love it if he held your hand. You decided, in the end, just saying that would suffice. No need to overthink things now, right? “Yeah, I would, uh, really like that actually.” You smiled shyly, watching as Alfonse’s eyes lit up with pure unadulterated joy. The sight made you feel all warm and mushy, far softer than even the sweet sight of heroes forgetting their worries did. You offered him your hand and gently as if he were sure if he moved to quickly you would flee like some poor rabbit, he entwined his fingers with your own. The two of you were left staring at your hands, marveling at it all; how your hands just seemed to fit together just right, how warm the other was, and so on. When that long moment passed and the two of you caught the other starting you were quick to throw your gazes back at the dancing heroes, hiding your entwined hands in the space between the two of you. The two of you were left in the slightly awkward silence that followed; neither of you willing to let the others hand go but also unaware of how to go on with the situation.
“Um… thank you, _____.” Alfonse spoke your name softly but you dare not look at him, dark blush still covering your face. That was okay, Alfonse knew you were listening. “It’s difficult for me to say this out loud but… I’d like to uh well…” Alfonse paused, trying to think of the proper way to word what he was trying to convey. “In the future… I’d like to be able to do more than hold your hand.” You shot up to stare at Alfonse, wide-eyed as he spoke on. Alfonse was unsure how he managed to say as much without flustering up even more. “T-that is to say… _____…” He took a deep breath, preparing himself as best he could to admit the words that had been on the tip of his tongue for too long now. And yet he found himself struck by the look on your face; from the blush dusting your cheeks, the slight gape of your mouth, the way your eyes sparkled and looked so sweetly at him… It was far, far too much for his poor heart to handle and Alfonse found he lost the will to say those important words. “I um…” Now his voice rose in pitch as he realized he really had nothing to say now. “For now… I’d just like to remain like this.” Somehow, he managed to finish strong and give you a small, closed eye smile. Though confused, you smiled back.
“If… that’s all you have to say, then I look forward to whatever it is you have in store for us then, Alfonse.” you laughed slightly, giving his hand a gentle squeeze before returning your sight to the stage. You knew… when he was ready, Alfonse would tell you what he really meant. For now, you were content to take the first step with him…

Can I get “Muffled, from the other side of the door” with Alfonse? Pls and thanks
Pairing: Alfonse x reader
Prompt: [I love you, muffled from the other side of the door.]
Description: It was a mistake, you were never meant to walk in then, never meant to hear those words. Who knew they could hurt so bad?
Rating: sfw
Content Warning: angst, hurt/comfort, crying
Word Count: 1264
Notes: Did someone ask with some angst with a side of hurt and comfort? bc that’s what I supplied!
Edited: 6/3/21, apox. 3 am. This one is more modern so it shouldn’t take too long
Alfonse could only wonder how it came to this; how he was crumbled outside your door, near tears at his mistake. He could hear your soft sniffles already, your cries only making his heart hurt more. You were never meant to overhear the  conversation he had with Sharena and Anna, never meant to have to hurt like this.
Alfonse was speaking with the two of them, trying to seek advice. He had admitted, much to the teasing of the two of them, that he was smitten with you. Try as he might, he couldn’t keep you at a distance. You wiggled your way into his heart and there was no use denying. You, of course, had only wanted to abide by his wishes; he didn’t want to get close to you, to the heroes? You could respect that. Or, at least try. So it seemed, it was just in the job description to grow close-- these things couldn’t be helped sometimes.
So you were tentative friends  and then loyal allies. And like these things do, your bond only grew and Alfonse fell in love with you. He tried his best to deny the loud beating of his heart when you were close, or the sweating of his palms when you so much as touched him. It was all to much, so for good or for worse, he would confess, if only to try and regain some of his focus. But of course, he was hoping you felt the same. You were never too keen on not getting close to heroes, anyway. And so he found himself speaking with Sharena and Anna; what had happened was a misunderstanding, you had walked in at the wrong time and taken things out of context.
“I was never meant to get close to them, how can I tell this to them without sounding rude?” he could understand why you got so upset hearing him say that; he would have felt much the same, had he been in your situation. There was little he could do in the moment to save the situation. Your words were a knife, then, cutting him open and mincing the pieces with every word you spoke.
“Oh,” Your voice broke with the first word, emotion betraying how you truly felt. “No need to worry, Alfonse, I-I understand.” Alfonse whipped around horrified at seeing you standing at the entrance of the meeting room. Before he could stop you, call your name, comfort you, you were gone, running down the hall trying not to cry aloud as you fled the scene.
Sharena and Anna couldn’t usher him out fast enough, Alfonse’s legs couldn’t carry him to your room before you had shut and locked the door. And thus he found himself, crumpled by the door, hand gripping the wood in desperation and shame.
“Please, you have to understand,” His voice was weak, horse with the emotion welling up inside of him. “What you heard us talk about, what I said–” You cut him off.
“Go away! I already know how you feel, if you didn’t want to be my friend, you should have just told me upfront!” His heart sank, because more than anything, he wanted to be so much more. He wanted to be in there to dry your tears; knowing it was he who caused them only fueled him to fix this more. Even if you didn’t feel the same, your friendship, the bonds the two of you had created together were worth too much to him now to just throw away.
“Please _____” Now he couldn’t help it; desperation filled his tone and tears clouded his vision. “Those words were never meant to hurt you I just–” Again, you wouldn’t hear it.
“Just leave me alone! Haven’t you done enough?” He was silent, considering just leaving you as you asked. Perhaps, when you weren’t so upset, maybe when Sharena or another hero had comforted you, he could tell you the truth;  for now, he couldn’t reach you. But he could still hear your soft sobbing, could imagine the tears streaming down your face. Alfonse took a deep breath, and wiped his own tears; it was now, when you needed to hear it, or never.
“I love you!” His words were muffled by the thick wood of your door, but he didn’t stop there. “When I was talking with Sharena and Anna, I was asking how best to confess to you, _____. I promise, I never meant to hurt you like this… I feel terrible for making you feel this way. Please, please, know I never meant to hurt you.” It was quiet in your room, and Alfonse couldn’t hear much of anything. He took that as your answer; you didn’t feel the same but maybe, you wouldn’t be so upset at him when you emerged and your friendship could at least be salvaged. Just as he stood, and prepared, your door clicked, and opened slowly. Alfonse watched as you peeked your head out to stare at him.
“Do… do you really love me?” You still sniffled a bit, and your cheeks were stained red with tears.  Alfonse’s heart broke seeing you in that state all because of a mistake he made. He took a tentative step closer, speaking again.
“Of course I do, how could I not?” His voice was soft and he could feel tears threaten his eyes again. “I was foolish to ever try and push you away.” You didn’t step away and allowed him to face you at the door. “I… understand if you don’t feel the same, after all this. What I said–” He was hushed when you pulled him into your room by the hand, closing the door behind him as you did so.
“I love you too,” Your voice was muffled now as well, only because you shoved it into his chest, pulling Alfonse into a hug and holding him tight. “Why do you think it hurt so much to think you didn’t like me?” Upon seeing tears in his eyes, your voice rose in pitch a bit, and you started sniffling again.
“I-it’s okay now though,” Alfonse attempted to comfort you because now he was crying at seeing you tear up again. “I love you so much, I never want to hurt you like that again.” Alfonse hugged you back just as tight. You were crying again at seeing him cry, and you realized, this would probably be a vicious cycle. You tried to not let that worry you now.
“It’s okay, I-I overreacted,” You were smiling, despite his tears and started blubbering. “We’re okay now, we’re okay…” You cuddled into him, and Alfonse guided the two of you to your bed for more comfort.
“Y-yeah, we’ll be okay…” Alfonse laughed shakily, though he was still crying just as much as you were. “I’m still s-so sorry this happened.” He was carding his fingers through your hair, trying his best to comfort you and himself.
“It’s okay…” You sniffled, using one hand to try and wipe your tears away. “Everything worked out in the end, right?” You smiled, and he did as well. “As long as I know you love me, I’ll be okay…” He kissed the top of your head and laid with you then, just holding you. This situation could have gone so much worse… Alfonse was glad he had the power to be able to confess to you like that; at least, in the future, it would be something fun to recount. For now, he was just glad everything ended up being okay…

Pairing: Hrid x reader
Prompt: Soulmate AU; soulmates first words are written on your body.
Description: To be warm was nice, but the heat in Muspell was unbearable; you didn’t know how anyone could do anything there. The fighting was harsh and the enemy strong, for once you couldn’t be sure you would get out alive. But in all this madness, a ray of hope appears before you.
Rating: sfw
Word Count: 1720
Notes: Whoops meant to post this yesterday, but I got busy! I love Hrid a lot and this piece ended up much longer than I expected hehe.
“Oh my gosh,” It was Fjorm’s gasp that caused your small party to stop; it was yourself, her, Alfonse, Sharnea, and Anna, along with a few heroes for this mission. “That’s… my eldest brother Hrid,” She knelt next to his fallen form, fearing the worst. You could hear her breathe a sigh of relief upon feeling his shallow breathing.
“Fjorm...” Anna frowned. “We need to finish this mission. If he’s down, whoever did this has to be close by, right?” You were feeling a little uneasy. When that happened, you always like to hold your wrist; written on it were the words ‘your hands are so warm’. Those were the words your soulmate would say to you when you first meet and remembering that good times were still ahead always brought you comfort.
“I can still fight.” Anna still looked worriedly at Fjorm.
“I’ll take a look at him,” You placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “I know I’m not the best healer, but I’ve been practicing. It’s better than nothing, right?” You offered her an apologetic smile.
“Anything you can do would be a great help,” She smiled back. “My debt to you only grows the more time we spend together, but I can’t say that I mind it.” She laughed gently, rising back to her feet.
“Don’t worry about it, just get this done.”
“Uh, guys? I think that’s the enemy ahead...” Sharena’s voice drew everyone's attention to the west. “We better take care of them!”
“Will you be alright alone?” Alfonse looked at you before glancing at Hrid, frowning. “I know we’ll be within earshot but...” It was like him to worry, you didn’t mind.
“Of course, Alfonse.” You gave him a reassuring smile. “Once you guys take care of the enemy, we can take Hrid back to camp and have a proper healer check on him.”
“We’re off then,” No one looked very pleased with the situation, but something had to be done. “Be care, _____.” You nodded at Anna, and watched the group of them leave to defend you and Hrid. He was unconscious, you noted, and probably very lucky to be alive. Despite the heat around you, he was still cold-- he was running a fever though, and a cold sweat was on his body. You didn’t have much on you, but the least you could do was try and bring him some comfort.
“You poor thing...” The words came softly from you as you brushed some hair from his face. “Hold fast, okay? Soon enough we’ll be out of here, and you’ll be feeling better. He winced a little, and blinked slowly, looking up at you with blurry eyes.
“Your… hands are so warm...” He leaned into your touch, sighing in content from the feelings. You were too focused to realize the consequence of his words; you just wanted to see to it that he would be okay.
“Hey, it’s okay.” You smiled at him, and despite his pain, he smiled back. “I don’t know much healing magic, but if you tell me where it hurts, I can do something.” You offered.
“I….” He blinked again, trying his best to wake up and remember what was going on. “I was… supposed to go after Surtr...” He quickly sat up, and the two of you nearly bonked heads. “Oh Gods, what’s happened?” He looked around quickly, eyes wide and breathing heavy.
“Hey, hey take it easy!” You placed a hand on his shoulder. “I don’t know how you ended up here, but I promise, I’m not the enemy. I couldn’t hurt you even if I wanted to.” You head your hands up and laughed a little. “My group and I came upon you here, collapsed on the ground. You… seem okay, but Prince Hrid, did you overwork yourself?” He paused a moment, scanning you.
“I… how do you know me?” He looked around once again. “Who are you?” He added.
“My apologies!” You shook your head. “I’m _____, Summoner to the Order of Heroes. I only know your name because Fjorm told me.”
“My sister is here? She’s alive?” He breathed a sigh of relief. “That is…. Good to hear.” He seemed to calm down a little upon hearing that. “It’s, nice to meet you as well. If you’re with the Order of Heroes… where is everyone?”
“We were followed-- someone knew we were coming this way. I’m a tactician as well, so it's odd not being in the fray with my allies… but it felt wrong to just leave you here alone.” You were starting to feel nervous again, and went to look at your wrist for comfort. To your shock, the words weren’t there anymore; your skin looked as if nothing had ever been there, in fact.
“If there’s fighting, I should join.” Hrid moved to stand, but you pressed your hand to his shoulder to stop him.
“No, I won’t allow it. Not even minutes ago you were lying here, unconscious. You’re running a fever as well, you need rest.” The look you were giving him made him feel a little ashamed; it reminded him of the scoldings Gunnthra and even his own mother used to give.
“It’s… hard to stay put when you know your allies are in danger, though.” He sighed and shook his head.
“I understand, I’m usually right there with them. I know they can take care of themselves, but still, I worry when I’m not there directing them...” You sighed, but stayed silent, looking to your wrist again. It struck you then, just what Hrid said to you when he was still in a feverish sleep; the very words your soulmate were to say to you when you first met. He probably didn’t even remember saying the words himself, nor realize what you said to him while he was asleep.
Lucky for you, your allies returned sooner rather than later from their fight; it seems the enemy was hoping to take you by surprise, Sharena spotting them could have very well saved the lot of you. After Hrid and Fjorm reunited, and Hrid explained to you all what he was doing, you returned to your base of operations for the night. It was nothing much since you were well within enemy territory, but at least here a proper healer could look at Hrid. Like you had suspected, he had a mild fever from overworking himself in all this heat, but otherwise, he was doing well. Still, he was told to stay in bed by you, the healer, and Fjorm.
It was late in the night, and you were going over the day's events, trying to figure out the best course of action. The information Hrid gave you from Zacharias was no doubt useful but you weren’t sure if it was really he who gave it to him. You were growing increasingly aware you didn’t have many other options, though; the enemy followed you from the direction you came, and time was running out as well.  You would have no other choice but to follow this lead.
“Um, excuse me?” Someone peaked their head into your tent-- none other than your new ally.
“Prince Hrid? Is something wrong?” You frowned a little, closing up the map of the area you had been looking at.
“No, nothing, I was just told you’re usually up at this hour and I… I’d like to talk to you.” He stepped in all the way, and though he seemed fine to speak to you before, he couldn’t seem to meet your gaze now.
“Well, you shouldn’t be up! You still have a fever!” You fussed over him, standing and insisting he at least sit on your cot to talk to you.
“I know, I know,” He laughed softy and shook his head. “I haven’t been with you long, but Fjorm has already talked about you so much. She really seems to admire you.” He met your gaze with an easy smile.
“Does she?” You smiled just the same. “I’m happy to hear it, I admire her as well...” You paused, seeing his look.
“Look I… didn’t come to talk about my sister.” He sighed and glanced away from you. “There’s no easy way to ask this but I didn’t… say anything strange to you before I woke up, did I? And did you say anything to me?” He glanced back your way, looking shyer than you thought he could.
Your heart pounded in its cage, knowing what was getting at. It had to be true then, he… “Well… I was trying to comfort you since you seemed like you were in pain...” In that moment, the words came to you freely but now you struggled to get them out, shying up as you thought of just what you said. “But I said ‘You poor thing. Hold fast, okay? Soon enough, we’ll be out of here’. And as I went to check if you had a fever you… said I had warm hands.” You had met his gaze again to see staring at you with wide eyes, the both of you knowing what had happened but neither of you ready to say it out loud.
“I… never expected to find you in the midst of such a war so terrible,” Hrid shook his head but smiled none the less. “But still, I’m glad I did…. Can I uh, hold your hand?” he asked.
“S-sure,” You nodded, still lacking the right words. “I’m, happy I met you too.” Hrid took your hand and squeezed it gently, and you tried to stop yourself from feeling so nervous. But you were still left with the realization Hrid was your soulmate; how would this change things, going forward?
“Don’t worry, I’m scared to.” His words drew your eyes up to his. “But we’ll have each other moving forward to figure everything out.” You nodded and allowed yourself to smile.
“I suppose we will.” You breathed a sigh of relief. “It’s all strange and new but… just being with you now, maybe it won’t be so scary.” Despite his fever and your circumstances, you and Hrid couldn’t help but talk into the wee hours of the night; after all, you only got to meet your soulmate once, and the two of you wanted to cherish the moment.

Yandere? 46 for Alfonse please?
Pairing: Yandere! Alfonse x reader
Prompt: “It’s okay to love me. Please, I want you to love me.”
Description: To say it plainly, you loved Alfonse. You wanted to spend more time with him so, you went happily with him when he suggested the two of you spend some time together. To your s
Rating: sfw
Content Warning: Yandere, non consensual touching (but nothing not sfw), justification of unwell thinking
Word Count: 1452
Notes: I know I just answered your other ask but mmmmmmmmmmmm you make really in character asks that just fits them so well, and I’m a hoe for Alfonse so much… he deserves so much, so so much…
Edited: 6/2/21; added proper formatting, spelling, grammar, and since this is so old at this point (I wanna say 3ish but idk) did some general changes to how things were written. Added more words too!
Alfonse remembers when Anna first managed to summon you; how foreign and interesting you were. That was when you became their summoner… his summoner. You looked so strange in clothing from your world, fumbling with Breidablik for the first time and summoning Takumi. You all managed to defeat the incoming enemy and celebrate, despite your initial fear and near tears. It was a wonder feeling, winning with your help.
He remembers your proper introduction. The cute way you shyly introduced yourself, head bowed and wringing your hands together. Still, when tasked with saving their world, saving Askr, you lifted your head and gave them a brave yes. How when you were gifted your cloak you had problems saying yes, claiming such a precious gift wasn’t necessary... He remembers being cold to you at first; after all, if he never got close in the first place, it wouldn’t hurt when you eventually left. But… that was different now. He was different now.
He remembers how you cried upon summoning your first rare hero and how you were so happy you pulled him in for a hug. He accepted, not wanting to be rude- even then your arms felt right around him- but you quickly retracted, remembering how he felt about physical touch and well, you. Even then, his facade of acting cold had faded quick. Without even trying, you had made way into his heart. Did you even realize what you did to him?
So many fond memories, so many new heroes; he worried one of them would come to replace him but you always seemed to have time for him, at least once a day. You made sure to seek him out! Then again… you did patrol every day. You saw many heroes every day… But surely, he was as special to you as you were to him? In his eyes, no one could compare to you. He just wanted that same special place in your heart as well...
~*~
“I miss spending this time with you, you know? Our army has grown so much, we hardly have time with each other now.” You spoke suddenly as you relaxed with Alfonse. He had insisted you take an outing with him; not that you would have disagreed, since you were of the opinion both of you needed a little break.
“Me too, _____. I enjoy it when its just the two of us.” He replied, casting a glance your way. You were close but not close enough. The two of you weren’t far from home, in fact, you were just hidden in the castle’s garden, lying among the tall grass watching the clouds go by on a peaceful spring day.
“I like having all the heroes, don’t get me wrong… but sometimes I miss being small. When I could bug you all day, or when you were still pretending you didn’t like me.” You giggled softly but Alfonse sighed, blushing a little as he looked away from you
“It was an honest mistake _____. Can’t you forgive me?”
“I never held it against you, silly. I know what you’ve been through with Zacharias… And I don’t blame you for a second. I can’t imagine what I would do if I lost you so suddenly…” And there went his heart, beating rapidly just at your words.
“I wouldn’t ever do that.” He didn’t intend to sound so serious. There was a subtle change in him in that moment, not even one you could see.
“I know you wouldn’t. You wouldn’t want  to leave me now anyway, I’m too precious to you.” You teased mischievously, holding his hand now. “You know Alfonse? Chrom says we share a bond like him and Robin, do you think that’s true?” You were casually waving his hand with yours, raising up above the cool ground before softly letting it fall. He couldn’t help but glance at you, eyes soft. Didn’t you know what you were doing to him? Surely you did...
“Well…” He took a deep breath. “I’d like to think so, you’re very important to me _____.” Far more than you knew.
“You’re important to me too.” You squeezed his hand a little. Why were you always so affectionate? It drove him insane. Maybe you did know how he felt... maybe you were waiting for him to confess?
“But…”
“But what?” You sounded offended.
“Nothing, I think I just hold you a little more important is all.” he laughed, somehow keeping his voice even. It was his turn to tease back, now.
“What does that mean?” You sat up to stare at his lying form, his hand coming with you. “Y-you can’t just say that to me so casually Alfonse!” Was the blush on your cheek just his imagination? It couldn’t be. Here and now, you were waiting for Alfonse to tell you how he felt because you felt the same!
“Nothing, nothing.” He laughed a little more. It was fun to tease you. Alfonse intended to tell you how he felt for you, even if it did make his heart beat faster, or his palms start a cold sweat. It was nerve wracking but the more time spent out here with you, the more he thought you might feel the same.
“That’s not nothing!” You leaned over him, blocking the sky from his view. “Please, tell me?” You looked so cute, looking at him like that. Eyes trained on only him, mouth in a small pout. The thought occurred that you might look cuter under him, though, so he did just that. Faster than you remembered him being, Alfonse had tackled you so that you were the one on your back and he loomed over you, with a smile on his face. “Alfonse?” You stared up now, eyes wide and face shaded with a fine blush. Indeed, it was much cuter. He was the one in control here. You could only look at him now.
“At first I was afraid to grow close… but now I’m afraid to lose you. Isn’t that strange, _____?”   His legs were on either side of your hips, his face looming down, growing closer to yours with each word you. You couldn’t deny the blush on your face, the way your heartbeat picked up and your eyes widened at his actions. Alfonse seemed a little out of himself here. You tried not to panic, hoping to help him through... whatever this was.
“I… I’m here aren’t I? You can’t lose me when I’m under you.” You tried to smile, to crack a joke though it felt somewhat forced. Alfonse didn’t seem to notice. This felt wrong but at the same time, you’ve been waiting so long for something like this… You adored him, wanted to be with him.
“Do you love me?” The words made your heart stop, the smile on his face never falling. You didn’t know how to respond. Because of course, you did love him. With every fiber of your being. But deep down you knew, this wasn’t right. Still, Alfonse spoke on. “It’s okay to love me. Please, I want you to love me.” He sounded desperate, he now held your face in this hands. Yet, how could you say no to him? He was a good man, a loved and respected hero and prince.
“I-I do love you. I’ve loved you for a long time, Alfonse.” Your voice was so quiet, but Alfonse was close enough that the words ghosted over his lips. He smiled. You smiled, much smaller than his. Perhaps he... just didn’t know how to confess? Yes, of course. Alfonse was the type. He was simply awkward and didn’t know what was right or wrong...
“I love you too, Gods do I love you too.” You wanted to cry, though, for happiness or some other reason, you weren’t quite sure. This was… good right? What you always wanted? Why did it feel so wrong? You pushed that feeling back, even when doing so caused goosebumps to rise on your warm skin.
“I-its okay Alfonse, I won’t leave you…” You rested your arms around his neck, and he stared into your eyes, his shining in an unfamiliar way.
“No, I won’t let it happen again.” He seemed different but he still had on a smile. “I won’t let you leave me… please don’t leave me…” His lips met yours as if to seal your fate. His kiss was soft, caring; they felt pleasant against your own but you didn’t have it in you to kiss back. Alfonse didn’t seem to notice, or perhaps he didn’t care? All you knew was, what was supposed to be the happiest moment in your life just felt so wrong.

Chapters: 5/5 Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Summoner | Eclat | Kiran/Alfonse/Bruno | Zacharias Characters: Alfonse (Fire Emblem), Bruno | Zacharias, Summoner | Eclat | Kiran Additional Tags: Polyamory, Fluff and Humor, Angst, Literal Sleeping Together, Alternate Universe - Soulmates Published: 2018-07-16 Completed: 2018-07-20 Total Word Count:4823 Summary:
a collection of unrelated kiran/alfonse/bruno one-shots for tumblr user polyshipprompts' polyship week
my thoughts under the cut, it’s a REALLY long post this time because i’m covering all 5 chapters instead of making 5 separate posts
alright so. polyship week is something i try to do once a year over on @polyshipprompts, i basically give everyone tags to use prompts from for each day and just let them all go wild. 2016 i chickened out of posting anything because i just wrote for my ocs (one of those eventually got posted but not until a long time afterwards). 2017... there was no polyship week. i had planned to move it to winter, and then my laptop broke and i couldn’t really host it from mobile since i never use mobile tumblr
2018 was back to summer, though i think i held it earlier than i did in 2016. and i also decided “fuck it, let’s participate” so... i did. posting this is also reminding me that soon enough (in a couple of months) i need to start thinking about this year’s polyship week
anyway. i wrote kiran/bruno/alfonse (i’m calling the ship kirbrufonse, i hope more people make content for them and use this ship name so it catches on) because i was like “hm. ot3... well. this is the only thing coming to mind”
all the chapters have the prompts i picked in them already, i think most of them were prompts i came up with in the first place. it’s kinda funny
also i HAVE a summoner oc and i use him in all my fics that involve the summoner. kiran’s actually his nickname, but i use it instead of his actual name (cirino) so i don’t have to explain that to people. it’s fine
day 1 was fluff. it turned out a little bit more humorous than i thought/hoped but i still like it
of course it involves sleeping, because it’s me and that tends to come up in a lot of my fics (fun fact! “you and i have come such a long way” keeps getting called the “sleeping together” series by some of my friends. i guess that’s fair, my titles are pretty wordy bc i take them from song lyrics)
favorite part: Kiran married Alfonse, so technically the two of them were husbands. But that wasn’t the point, nor did Bruno particularly want to pursue that conversational topic because they’d had the discussion before. Many times, in fact. Kiran still felt like it wasn’t a completely valid marriage, even though Feh was technically ordained and qualified to perform the ceremony.
day 2... angst. tbh i don’t usually write angst, i’m not really about writing things that feel hopeless! feels like any time i do it, it’s more for someone else? which is okay with me
i came up with this weird au for this that i will literally never write because it confused the hell out of me to even think about. basically it involved kiran meeting modern reincarnations of alfonse and bruno. bruno remembered his past life, alfonse didn’t (and bruno hadn’t told him yet because it seems hard to believe). and the three of them got close again, even starting to date, AND THEN canon!bruno and alfonse figure out how to temporarily open portals to kiran’s world and... yeah. yeah it’s a clusterfuck. i think you can see why i didn’t and won’t actually write anything involving it. it’s just fun to think about a little
also i keep going back and forth on whether or not time passes here while kiran’s in askr? for the angst factor, i went with not for this fic since the idea of it being like nothing ever happened was too good to pass up. however i probably could’ve gone with yes, time did pass, and it’s suddenly years later which is... kinda horrifying to think about honestly! like did people think kiran died? (probably) how would he, or anyone, explain what happened? Who Knows
i could speculate on this some more, especially with regards to other heroes, too, because it is fucking INTERESTING and i have things to say on it but also this post is already real long and i have 3 more fics to cover so maybe some other time
favorite part:  “... Alright,” Kiran said, pulling the princes into a hug, sniffling only a little when they both held tight to him. “I’ll miss you.” He turned his head to kiss Alfonse on the cheek. “Both of you,” he amended, doing the same to Bruno.
“We’ll miss you, as well,” Bruno murmured, rubbing his hand up and down Kiran’s back.
Alfonse buried his face in Kiran’s shoulder. “I promise, one day, we’ll figure out how to get back to you.”
Kiran nodded. “Right. This isn’t goodbye forever. It’s just for now.” Maybe if he said that enough, he’d believe it, himself.
day 3! silly. god i wish i could think of a better name for that tag on the blog
it’s... another fic involving sleeping! alright. it also didn’t turn out as funny as i’d hoped it would. somehow my fluff fic was more humorous than this, at least in my opinion. it’s not a bad fic, by any means, but it sure isn’t how i wanted it to be
so my kiran’s a college student. communications major, which was an effort to make sure he wasn’t a self-insert since i was a liberal arts major. when i was in college (and even in high school tbh) i would stay up super late at night working on stuff, too. it’s not good, though, kids. don’t do it (i say, even though i STILL stay up until like 3 am most nights... it’s different now bc i don’t usually need to wake up before like 10 or 11)
rereading this to think of things to say about it reminds me how cute this is, honestly. i really am a sucker for characters sleeping together
favorite part:  “I’ll be done, soon, I prom--” Kiran was cut off as Alfonse pulled him down to the bed, moving so he was partly on top of his partner.
Kiran sometimes forgot about how strong Alfonse could be, but being pretty much pinned in place like this would ensure he never forgot again. “You’re heavy,” Kiran groaned, trying-but-not-really to push Alfonse off with his free hand.
“Be thankful it’s me and not Bruno doing this,” Alfonse quipped, and Kiran could feel his smile against his shoulder.
day 4 is au! aus are hard to write sometimes because they require like... being set up so you aren’t just thrust into everything without any idea what’s going on. luckily, i had the excuse of writing kiran as the pov character so i could explain things because he also wouldn’t be used to this
this day gave me some trouble. i made three separate attempts at this day. first attempt was like... a modern day college au that involved alfonse being set up by his parents with a childhood friend of his (zacharias) but because alfonse wasn’t interested in dating someone he hadn’t spoken to in years, he and kiran ended up fake dating for some kind of dinner they were all going to. but, true to fake dating form, they both actually had crushes on each other already
being polyship week, there’s really only one way for that to end: alfonse realizing “oh shit, he really is cute and i do still like him” about zacharias and then asking him out TOO in addition to clearing things up with kiran
i think i got stuck on Why alfonse’s parents would set him up w/ zacharias because i didn’t like the idea i had for it, so i ended up ditching it
attempt two was another soulmate au, this being one of the ones where you have your soulmate’s name on your wrist. but it was a zenith thing, not an “our world” thing. so alfonse and sharena had names, but kiran didn’t. sharena had fjorm’s name, though i don’t think i wrote that far ahead. fjorm/sharena is a cute ship and i should absolutely write something for it some time. but i did write abt sharena, who is trans because she’s trans in all my fics whether i mention it or not, being worried about what name her soulmate would have on her wrist. i probably wasn’t gonna follow up on that since it’s an ot3 fic but fjorm would absolutely have had the name sharena on her wrist
BUT THAT’S VERY MUCH NOT THE POINT anyway, alfonse has bruno’s name on his wrist... which has him thinking he hasn’t met his soulmate since bruno was going by a different name at the time (zacharias, of course)
i think what tripped me up is i tried to add in something about how the names would be on someone’s wrist in the handwriting they had at the age they’d meet? so it’d be implied he already met his soulmate but he wouldn’t know, which i think made things a little difficult for me to continue. had i gone on, i obviously would’ve gone through the reveal that bruno was alfonse’s soulmate
and i didn’t link what prompt i was using in my document like a fool. assumably it’s one of the ones i wrote about how soulmates aren’t The most important people possible, and people can have good relationships with people that aren’t their soulmates
what i’m saying is, alfonse and kiran would’ve gotten together anyway despite not being soulmates. i really can’t remember where i was going with this one though, tbh
anyway those both got scrapped bc i had issues with them, but third time’s the charm and i ended up w/ a red string soulmate au instead
i felt so bad writing kiran turning the both of them down even knowing the ending! i was like “no... come on, you could all be happy together” despite knowing exactly how i wanted this fic to end
i remember this one actually came pretty easily to me, thank god
one of my favorite things about it, that i don’t think many people might’ve picked up on, is the section with kiran and bruno. i mention there being too much food for two people, and kiran passing alfonse in the hallway as he’s rushing back to his room
what i was implying, and what i don’t think many people picked up on, was that alfonse was going to join the two of them so they could all talk about it (intending to tell kiran they were soulmates)
i don’t have any reasoning for bruno being able to see the strings between him, alfonse, and kiran. bruno can’t see everyone’s strings, it’s just those two because they’re his soulmates. but not everyone can see the strings, not even of their soulmates. really my reasoning was just “that’s how i can make this fic work” so i... did it. it’s fine
favorite part: Bruno averted his eyes, laughing nervously. “Well… I might have… fallen in love with you.” At Kiran’s face falling, Bruno went on, saying, “At first I was just grateful that you were so willing to help me. I’ve heard your eagerness to bring me home rivaled even Alfonse’s. But then, when I was finally back here in Askr, I got to see your kindness firsthand. It wasn’t just you wanting to repay a debt. You’re just compassionate by nature.“
You didn’t see me as Bruno, Prince of Embla. You saw me as an equal. I wasn’t used to it. I’m still not. The only people who treat me like an equal now are those who knew me when I was in hiding. It was more than a little refreshing.”
day 5 was a free day, where i could choose literally any prompt on the blog that i wanted. this one also gave me trouble and took 3 attempts to do. the other two both involved clothes swapping, which is another thing i’m weak for. one of those fics also had trans kiran and trans bruno in a way that was more than implied but still not like the center of the fic. honestly it’s something i should work on because i need people to know characters are trans when they read my fics, but i can’t just tag it without it being something actually PART of the fic
anyway. the end result i got was basically written the day it was posted, and like i said in the notes on it, written while i’d only gotten 3 hours of sleep. geo, my beta reader, is literally the reason this fic was any good at all. i’m not that fond of it personally? it’s not bad, exactly, just i don’t really like it much
i think parts of it were pretty good, and i did kind of like having kiran and bruno be the ones to get together first, instead of kiran and alfonse or alfonse and bruno. i should totally write some more about the dynamic between the three of them+in pairs.
i do like that i had alfonse sandwiched between kiran and bruno at one point. that was good and very galaxy brain of me. thanks to geo for helping me properly explain that part because it was very important to me people knew how the three of them were positioned
favorite part: Still, he stepped back, allowing the door to swing open more. The very moment Zacharias closed it behind him, Kiran practically threw himself at Alfonse. “We’re sorry!” Kiran cried out, pulling Alfonse into a surprisingly tight hug. The only reason the two of them hadn’t toppled over due to it was that Zacharias was upon them in the next instant, pulling them both upright. He also spun them around in the process, so Alfonse’s back was up against his friend’s chest.
aaaand since this post is technically about 5 different fics, i might as well include...
favorite fic: it’s a hard choice, but probably day 3! it might not have turned out how i wanted it to go, but i think it was probably the best of the bunch. i’m also super proud of day 2 and day 4, though
