Monster High and Ever After High fanfic writers are both missing the opportunity to have Cupid say some absolutely batshit insane stuff and just be like, “but yeah, that’s how my cousin Dionysus would deal with this” or something.

Or like, the Ever After High students canonically visit the Wind Gods every year. Cupid could have been like “Damn, I missed out on visiting Zephyr? I love that guy, he helped kill my aunts” and everyone just has to process that this pretty pink love goddess is all happy that the beach dude helped kill her aunts?

Or just like “Yeah, my family reunion got cancelled this year because my grandma got caught cheating on her husband with his brother again– my grandpa– and we’re not quite sure when step-grandpa is gonna let them out of the elaborate trap he built to catch them.”

I want horrified looks from the students as Cupid presents her family tree project and it’s a fucking subway map. I want someone to ask why there’s a special notation on the line from Uranus to Aphrodite and to immediately regret it. I want Blondie to just be like “wow, I was so worried about my own family tree project and here’s Cupid causing half the class to gasp in horror–WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE WAS A HORSE?!”

Just like, Greek myth is wild and I feel like Cupid should reference her family with total nonchalance like all the time. For the average student of Monster High and Ever After High, it’s the stuff of nightmares. For Cupid it’s Thursday.

Thinking about how unsure Jay was at the start of joining with Chip, but now she knows where she is is correct and her sister would’ve been on her side

Thinking about how devastated Lizzie must’ve been at that bar in Allport when her and Jay were finally getting along but then all she could see for a moment was Ava and was struck with the loss of someone she loved

Just, god her impact on the narrative is so encompassing

YALL. everyone go watch story of kunning palace i swear it’s worth it im still riding an insane high after i finished it last night.

it’s a very good solid drama for 30 episodes kinda slow burn but well written with good characters and decent plots.

and then in the last 8 episodes, the guy’s sidekick tells him “maybe you should show her how you really feel. show her the real you” and he proceeds to go batshit feral insane. which after watching her pine after and then reject the most morally upright guy ever it fucking WORKS ON HER because she is ALSO insane!!

after that it’s just 8 episodes of him being sloppy desperate for her and begging her to give him an answer while she’s just there buffering because she has to readjust her whole worldview with this news that he’s liked her all along?? she went out to meet her former crush and when she got home he sat her down and made her eat a dinner he made. that was drowning in vinegar. because if he had to drink vinegar then SO SHOULD SHE. and after she doesn’t eat much at dinner he plops down a tray of her favourite cake. that he had given her before earlier in the drama. announces that he made it with his own hands. and she’s like :0 “you made it for me even back then?? but back then we were only….” and he’s immediately like “only? only what? what were we back then? what about now? is it different now? what are we?” and she’s just like .

It’s over now😭. I don’t know what I’m supposed to look forward to at the end of the week now that both Frieren and 7th Timeloop are over. BUT! We aren’t here to mourn right now, let’s talk about the last episode!!!!

I’m so proud of them! They’ve come so far in these last 3 weeks (both our time and their time) and you can tell! We went from this:

To THIS:

Full circle baby! However, the part I want to focus on the most is the importance of these pivotal moments!

From the beginning we see that Arnold feels somewhat bad about “forcing” Rishe to be engaged to him. We don’t fully see how much he loathes himself because of it until their conversation both after the kidnapping incident and the balcony scene.

And each time we see Rishe reach out and basically judo flip his self-deprivation in the other direction.

This is so important because not only is it building the foundation of their relationship, but it’s setting the precedence in Arnold’s mind that there are other ways to live than planning for one’s own future death. It’s the first time anyone has EVER told him these things without ulterior motives, and he doesn’t know how to react. For all we know, these are the first times he’s ever been at a loss for anything.

Moving on to the freaking PROPOSAL (pt. 2). THIS SCENE IS SO MONUMENTALLY IMPORTANT FOR BOTH PARTIES! And let me explain because the psychological breakdown is all I can think about!!!!

Arnold still holds onto the guilt of brining her to his country. He can’t stand forcing her to do anything when he’s already “forced” her to marry him. But Rishe refuses that BS and thus leads us to the most important part of their relationship in this season. She lets him touch her without gloves.

Remember, the main reason she didn’t want him touching her was because she would get PTSD flashbacks of him killing her. At the beginning she held very grudging respect for him, but still resented him for the past lives he lead. Her letting him touch her freely from this point on shows just how much she’s grown to trust and rely upon him.

This man has been waiting for this moment for a long time, and he is very gentle and respectful the entire time. He understands just how important it is to her but it’s also just as important to him. That tenuous divide that was constantly between them has finally been shattered!

But of course we can’t miss this! In every shot when we first see the ring Arnold’s eyes are vividly there, begging us to contrast them. We see how much she admires the ring, while admiring his eyes even more at the same time.

I would absolutely love and adore a season 2, but even if we don’t get one I’m satisfied with everything we got. These two have come so far in their relationship and the new and still blooming trust, respect, and affection and I’m just so proud of them. The team did such an incredible job putting all of this together and you can feel the passion and love that was put into every little detail. I don’t know what I’m going to look forward to next every Sunday, but hopefully we’ll all find something!

a water is wet statement i guess but considering how discussing women in terms of their fuckability as a casual topic of conversation seems like a second nature to more or less all cishet men i’ve spent time with in exclusively male spaces (like, including just physically rooms or cars with only men in them) it doesn’t seem like it should be particularly offensive or controversial to argue that a large chunk of the reason so many men react to trans women as a concept with such abject disgust and with such a singular focus on genitalia specifically is not because they’re so worried about safety and fairness but because there’s nothing that repulses them more on an existential level than a woman they don’t want to fuck

before the crash, everyone was an asshole to Natalie except for like 3 people.

her dad was abusive, her mom is absent, everyone at school — including most of her team — calls her a burnout, tells her she’s a “mess,” smells like alcohol & weed and needs to get her act together, slut-shames her and are just generally horrible to her.

but in The Wilderness, she’s strong. she’s the one who uses the rifle; she’s their hunter, she’s their protector. she was the logical one when everyone else was going crazy. but even with all of that, they still had their ungratefulness for it. they didn’t realize what she was doing for them. they made unfair comments about Natalie not having brought home food in the winter, about not having found Javi yet.

Jackie was the worst in her ungratefulness, calling her a burnout, continuing to slut-shame her, sleeping with her ex-boyfriend, etc. and The Wilderness took her first. but Natalie still treats her with respect after her death.

when she found the moose again in the lake, she was desperate to bring it back, to provide for the group, to make them grateful for her waking up at ridiculous hours of the morning and drinking Lottie’s blood and wandering in the cold all day. she nearly died trying to get that moose, but The Wilderness protected her.

and like Lottie said, when the team tried to kill her in their first hunt, Javi died in her place. The Wilderness protected their protector once again.

the look on Natalie’s face when Lottie declares her Antler Queen, says that she’s The Wilderness’ favourite, she’s shocked. she’s important to them and it’s what she’s been waiting for and it feels so good but she’s still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

then Lottie kisses her hands, and the others follow suit, bowing to her, treating her like a queen. coronating her. she’s crying and she’s smiling and she’s laughing. and it’s heartbreaking to see with the context we have of her life.

it was hard to get here. it hurt to get here. but she’s finally cared for. Natalie is finally getting the respect and love and reverence that she deserves.

she matters. she has a purpose. she’s someone’s favourite. and even if it’s just tree spirits, and her teammates listening to those rustling branches, she’s still the favourite. finally.

but if she, of all people, could be its favourite, then maybe it’s not all made up. maybe Lottie and Van and everyone else have a point about something else being out here with them, watching them. or maybe there isn’t. maybe it doesn’t even matter if there is.

but now she matters.
