I'm working in earnest on Chapter 2 of my gift fic for @artsyunderstudy, Hiding Out In The Open. Which is a getting together (a little bit) later fic centred on Simon and Baz bonding over a psychology podcast. I know, I know, it's A CONCEPT. Which leads me to my share today, which is a little bit of Simon POV of some texting about said podcast:

I add an emoji with a flourish before firing off my reply. something something science, something something wearing pointy shiny shoes worth more than my life is how complete wankers trick girls into liking them  :peacock emoji: 🦚  so there [redacted] My phone buzzes again under my thigh, where I've tucked it out of sight. I slide it out just enough that I can see the screen and casually thumb the notification down. Have you actually been looking up how much my shoes cost, Snow? Believe me when I tell you that attracting women has less than nothing to do with my Berlutis.

Hello, hello! I hope everyone is having an excellent week so far.

I have five active WIPs atm and it's crazy and delightful. I worried I'd struggle with focus, but all of them are at different stages of development (and one is being written by hand), so moving between them is quite easy.

The collab with @erzbethluna, For All Intents and Purposes, is coming along nicely! We are keen to share chapter one in the not-too-distant future. Here is a snippet.

When Simon turns towards me, the narrow alley curtains his face in shadows. He steps forward with such power that I move backwards into a wall. His hands plant on the brickwork either side of me. “Are you alright?” His voice is lower, gravelly; almost menacing.

“I’m fine,” I say, urging the words to come confidently and calmly. The knife is lying on the ground. “Fucking hell, Simon. You could have been–”

He leans into me, chest colliding with mine. Heat pours off of him as one hand wraps around my lower back, the other behind my neck. He kisses me passionately, fiercely, like he wants to consume me. My mouth must taste like a slaughterhouse floor, but he doesn’t seem to care, so I just let him. Frankly, I’m too stunned to do anything else. Then he’s pulling me into his arms like I’m a doll. “Home. Now.”

What Remains After The Storm is nearly done 👀 If anyone plans to read it in the near future, I'd suggest blocking the 'WRATS spoilers' tag as Eli will be sharing (very spoiler-heavy) art from recent chapters in the near future.

I'm feeling cheeky, so I'm adding a snippet from chp 14. It's below the cut as it's a little spoilery for readers who haven't finished chp 13 yet.

Sometimes a Fae approaches me, coaxing me to dance, brushing fingertips across my tunic and trousers. I shy away and [redacted] hisses. One elfin man smiles prettily at me, a cherry (a cherry!) held out in his hand. Before I can claim it, [redacted] mauls his ankle. The nearby Fae laugh as the elfin man squeaks and runs away.

[Redacted] leaps up, forcing me to catch him, then springs onto my shoulders. “Head for the bandstand,” he whispers into one ear before winding around to the other. “And don’t eat anything.”

“I wasn’t going to.” I mumble. (Definitely a lie. I’m knackered and I bloody love cherries.)

Bio

Hi! This is my alt blog, so don't expect a ton of posts, but I will post here if I don't want something on my main. I suppose I should probably tell you a bit about myself since this is a bio, so...

Personality: affectionate (wish I could hug most of my IRL friends but I'm a bit too scared to ask), fairly smart but in a "it's a thing that exists" way, also I love a lot of random gimmicky things

Name: Not saying because any name I give would give me away if someone I know IRL found this. I suppose you can say Anen (first four letters in my URL), but IDK what you should call me.

Pronouns: most IRL people use [REDACTED], but I prefer they.

Orientation: no clue, haven't liked anyone yet but I'm pretty sure I want to be with someone but I'm not ruling out aroace yet just in case. At this point, I'm pretty sure I don't even want to know.

AGAB: irrelevant. Gender beats AGAB. I win Pride Rock Paper Scissors again. Also, I think the first A should actually mean "assumed," which is significantly more accurate.

Gender: Most people think I'm [REDACTED], but I'm actually nonbinary. I started questioning in spring 2023. I'm not trans or queer, and I'm not really LGBT either (orientation unknown, subject to change).

Specifically, I'm neutral (the "I'm in the middle and I like it here" kind, pretty sure the fancy term is nutrois). My older sister knows, but I haven't told anyone else irl. Part of me is too lazy to bother, most of me is too scared to ever tell anyone else, and the rest either doesn't want to or is neutral on the matter (pun intended).

Presentation: In daily life, I try to look androgynous, which I think I would probably do even if I was binary. I like the pants+t-shirt+hoodie look but would try other androgynous outfits if I had the chance.

Likes: hugs, music, tech, dark humor, dumb silly stuff, cute things, etc. I'd like to hug my friends but haven't been able to ask because reasons.

Dislikes: not a lot other than a certain subset of the human species that I like to call "idiots." Also the similar subcategory "jerks."

I think the relationship between Tess and Fross is very bittersweet... Once again I have a soft spot for single parents in STEM who are busy but trying their best ;-;

There's also Tilda. They have a lot in common, but they butt heads in the right ways, and it makes their potential dynamic interesting to me, haha ^^ But of course I do still want Fross to see their similarities and reach out :')

But, as far as Zeniths go (ha!), the one I want him to interact with the most is Stanley Chen. Not to be dramatic, but I have a feeling he could've become the closest thing to a father figure Fross ever had... if Fross had opened up a bit, put his cynicism aside for a while, and were willing to listen :') But if anyone can get him to do that, I'd bet it's Stanley Chen! (not even Kai!)

And! Just one more! But I insist he'd be great with Sylens. I want to force them into a situation together so bad. (This is funnier if you make both of them Kai's exes)

My unpopular opinion about this character: 

Poor little meow meow <3 Yes, he was an accomplice, and, yes, he was a perpetrator, but he was also a victim both of his circumstances and the other Zeniths ok :')

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

Oh heheheheh >:) I can't wait to know more about Nemesis solely for OC purposes. Canonically, Nemesis would have a digital copy of all the Zeniths' minds, right? The evil AI would have a digital copy of Fross's mind. The evil AI- would have a digital copy of Fross's mind- even after he's dead- >:)))

I'm just saying, if the evil AI wanted to emotionally shatter Artekai... 😳

I highly doubt that kind of scenario will actually make sense in canon, but, until Horizon 3 comes out, I guess we can dream.

my cross over ship:

Platonically, I kinda wanna see him interact with Ben Gross from Never Have I Ever... He's kinda like how I imagine pre-apocalypse Fross to have been (not A LOT, but just enough for me to make the comparison ^^) and both of them could use some friends their age. But I don't think it'd take off, to be honest, so. Maybe in a better timeline.

I also started writing a little thing where him and Takuto get to interact... He doesn't think much of Takuto either, but I still love to see it ^^

a headcanon fact: hmmmmmm I dunno what to say.... he would never get on a car with a human driver. He would rather just not go anywhere :/

Aloy:

How I feel about this character: I love her!! I love how determined and headstrong and brave and caring and outspoken she is! I don't necessarily love how HFW portrayed her tendency to push people away but I do enjoy it as a character trait also ^^

All the people I ship romantically with this character: After finishing HZD, I was mostly feeling Aloy/Varga, but the more time passes, the more I lean towards headcanoning her as aroace and the less I feel like shipping her romantically. But I do enjoy seeing the pretty ship art ^^

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Artekai... 👉👈

My unpopular opinion about this character: I dunno if it's an unpopular opinion, but I think canon has a bit of a case of protagonist-centered morality... And I think that's unfair to Aloy as a character too.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Well. I mentioned in another ask game that I would've liked if canon took a bit more time to develop her arc. But also! Refer to the previous answer. She should be allowed to be wrong and other characters should be allowed to stay pissed at her for it. She can learn from her mistakes, and that would be good.

my cross over ship: Hmmmm... I guess I'm a bit curious to see her with Samus, haha. I think they could be a power team.
