The thing is x files is the kind of show that lends itself to lots of meta and analysis- and I don't mean just or even primarily MSR, I mean the themes and repeated motifs and all sorts of things like that - but I'm too tired and brain fogged to really dig into any of it in text while I do my first watch through

I think it would be really funny if the Hermits' attempts at breaking Empires' economy end up failing miserably because all those fuckers are too petty to buy from their business rivals despite them having the more efficient farm and just... ignore it all. It'd be even more hilarious if it fails even more because the Emperors only know how to barter and don't know how currency works.

It'd be like a mega-corporation getting its as kicked by the small family-owned business because the people around are still used to paying in eggs and the supermarket over there won't accept their valuable product and only wants dumb inedible pieces of paper instead.
