I love the fact that I can work as hard as I can manage with a broken tooth and a dying tooth (one on each side, I've been chewing on the cavity for a year) and I still cannot save even $10 towards getting dental treatment (2 impacted wisdom teeth, + tooth broken off under the gum, + bad cavity) because I barely make enough to cover my food and board and the insane energy bill

Summary: After alastor left the 3rd time, Mal sets Aponi up on a blind date.

Warnings: alastor is a dick. Theo exists. But that's a good thing bc Theo is great. A bit of malaponi. Aponi interrupts Mal a lot. Other than all of that this is fluff.

It had been months since Alastor had left.

Aponi took a breath as she finished closing up the Cafe, one of the only places in the pride ring that was actually a good place to work.

Mal sat on the table, waiting for her friend to finish up her job as she texted with a friend of hers.

"I think I found you a date~" Mal stated with a smile.

"What? Mal.... you know I can't do that," Aponi stated as she wiped down a table with leftover ketchup stains on it.

"Oh but I think you caaaan!! He's super sweet! Or.. as sweet as you can get down here..." Mal explained as she held up her phone to her best friend to show Aponi a picture of the Demon.

"Mal. I can't do that. I haven't even gotten Theo a full time babysitter and i-"

"Dont worry about Theo! Vox and I can handle that! You deserve this so much Lilly..... I saw how broken you were when alastor left......" Mal stated as she looked at Aponi with worry.

Aponi paused her actions before sighing.

"I stick with real things," aponi began. "Usually facts and figures... When information's in its place, I minimize the guessing game. Guess what?" She asked.

Mal sighed. "What?"

Thats when the music started.

"I don't like guessing games. Or when I feel things Before I know the feelings" aponi continued in rhythm to the music. "How am I supposed to operate? If I'm just tossed around by fate? Like on an unexpected date......"

Mal rolled her eyes.

"With a stranger who might talk too fast! Or ask me questions about myself Before I've decided that He can ask me questions about myself!" Aponi continued her rant as she continued to scrub the table.

"Lilly-"

"He might sit too close! Or call the waiter by his first name! Or eat Oreos! But eat the cookie before the cream!" Aponi listen before standing up staraight and looking off into nothing. "But what scares me the most.... What scares me the most....." she trailed off as she glanced at her phone, a picture of her and alastor as the Screensaver.

Mal turned her phone over.

"Is what if when he sees me.... What if he doesn't like it? What if he runs the other way and I can't hide from it? What happens then?" Aponi asked as she walked over to get the broom "what If when he knows me, he's only disappointed? What if I give myself away, to only get it given back? I couldn't live with that....." Aponi sang as she swept the floor.

"how do you live with that?" Mal sang in return.

"So, I'm just fine, inside my shell-shaped mind! This way I get the best view! So that when he sees me, I want him too!" Aponi finished.

"Lilly, don't you think you're being a little, I mean maybe just a tad-"

"I'm not defensive!" Aponi interrupted. "I'm simply being cautious! I can't risk reckless dating Due to my miscalculating why A certain suitor stands in line!" Aponi ranted as she swept to the rhythm of the music. "I've seen in movies Most made for television. You cannot be too careful When it comes to sharing your life! I could end up a miserable wife!!" She belted, remembering her relationship with alastor.

Mal huffed and put a hand on Aponi's shoulder, only for her to shrug it off and turn to make, exasperated.

"Sorry girl, but he could be criminal!" Aponi exclaimed. "Some sort of psychopath Who escaped from an institution, Somewhere where they don't have girls!" Aponi ranted as she paced back and fourth, her broom long forgotten. "He could have masterminded some way to find me!" She spoke from experience.

"Lils-"

"He could be color blind! How untrustworthy is that?" Aponi asked. "He could be less than kind!" She explained before sitting in one of the unstacked chairs. "Or even worse, he could be very nice, have lovely eyes... And make me laugh, come out of hiding.... What do I do with that?" She asked, tears forming in her eyes.

Mal reached out for her only for aponi to bury her hea din her hands.

"Oh, God!" She exclaumed befire standing up again. "What if when he sees me, I like him and he knows it? What if he opens up a door, And I can't close it? What happens then?" She sang as she picked up her broom again, dancing with it as if it were a person before throwing it to the side.

"He's not-"

"What If when he holds me, My heart is set in motion? I'm not prepared for that! I'm scared of breaking open!" Aponi sang. Once again interrupting Mal. "But still I can't help from hoping To find someone to talk to! Who likes the way I am... Someone who when he sees me.... Wants to again!" Aponi belted before sitting next to mal on the table.

"..... Just go on this date, Lilly... if anything at least you'll be back out there.... if you don't feel safe you can always call or text me....." Mal stated as she handed her phone to Lilly, the picture of the Demon bright in their eyes.

"But theo-"

"Will be fine. He and Emma can have a playdate. Plus, Vox is real font of him. Despite what he says about Alastor," Mal explained.

Aponi sighed.

".... what if Alastor comes back?" Aponi asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mal stayed silent.

"........ then at least if the date goes well you'll know your worth if he does," Mal finally expressed as she wrapped a reassuring arm around Aponi.

As a fellow archeologist I find your inability to consider opinions of others, patronizing attitude and lack of self-criticism very unprofessional and off-putting. And the way you constantly shit on other lore bloggers just shows me how you’re okay with bad mouthing and bringing others down. And how you felt totally fine to just shit on people’s tweets that have nothing to do you with you for your personal video content just show me that you prefer to destruct and not create. Shameful

Show me examples of me doing that though. Because as far as I'm aware, I reblog other people's opinions, accept corrections and also actively ask for people to correct me if I'm wrong. Can't talk about the patronising attitude because I guess that's a vibe some people get.

I'm definitely okay with bringing other people down when they spread objective misinformation and refuse to amend it. If someone posts incorrect information, I'll do my best to correct them in the nicest way possible depending on the context. If they continue to spread that misinformation despite multiple people correcting them, then they can be shat on publicly which is incidentally also how things work in the academia.

Some other lore bloggers are just bad, yeah. I'm not perfect, obviously, and I understand that some might not like how I do things, but at the very least I'm not straight up inventing lore and misinforming people. And if I make a mistake, I am more than willing to have people point it out. Sometimes people also just disagree about lore. It doesn't mean the person I disagree with is bad, I just disagree with their takes and usually believe they're not reading through the text correctly. I could be wrong of course.

I'll absolutely shit on BIG lore content creators who literally GET PAID to do what they do. They can handle it. It's their literal job to talk about Destiny lore. They should know better. With their large platforms, their opinions will be taken as fact even if they end up being wrong. They aren't perfect, but everything they say is immediately a fact and they rarely post corrections (if at all). They also tend to drown out other opinions because nobody will listen to what someone on tumblr wrote when Byf said otherwise. It's not productive and even Byf himself said that people should look for other sources and not just listen to him (for which I respect him a lot).

Not sure what my ranting about tweets with 70 views has to do with anything tho. If anything, I'm the clown who got mad about random people on twitter. If you have a rebuttal to any of my claims, feel free to let me know. This seems to be boiling down to basically tone policing and not allowing people to be mean sometimes. I personally don't see a problem with being mean sometimes, especially when people say bigoted stuff and just plain misinformation.

The majority of my complaints about the tweets and big lore content creators has been the fact that NONE of them covered the most important lore piece for this entire year of Destiny (Immolant) and people have therefore not read it and pretty much everything that people say wrong boils down to that gap in knowledge. I am still baffled that none of the big content creators covered Immolant. It's absolutely mind-boggling to me. They know it exists because they referenced it randomly a few times, but there hasn't been a full coverage. How can you ignore the biggest weblore drop? All other weblore has been covered. Bizarre.

Also, not sure what my field has to do with it, but since it's been mentioned, I have to note that like... Academia is full of people being mean to one another and tearing each other apart in papers and on academic presentations. I've read papers and I've been to those. Academic discourse chews people up. Write something wrong and submit it to a paper and watch as the peer review shreds your paper to pieces.

I don't get the Rayman thing being fucked up...I'm lost haha. But technically i always assumed Rayman was a Deity himself. Like, when Polokus said "4 masks to wake me up"it reminded me how Rayman is always sleeping or being a slackerfor hundreds of years, and Origins and Legends support that theory. Rayman is like a Pseudo God. There to protect the world, kinda like Captain Planet.

Let me just link the comic for those who don’t know what we’re talking about.

For context, I’ve never thought of Rayman being close, in anyway, of godhood before. 

I saw the little guy getting his power with the help of fairie(s) and been given help to reach his destination. So it didn’t really stroke me as godhood, but more like the usual thing for a hero.Gods are general the kind of a big deal, who rarely need help to do what they want to do. And they’re hard to mess up with.Rayman can get his ass kicked if you’re not careful in some games (especially in the first game)In Rayman 2, you get captured after losing your powers, and you need help to become stronger. And you don’t destroy all the RoboPirates, It’s Polokus who does the job. You do have to get to RazorBeard yourself, but if his metal ass was on the ground, Polokus would have destroyed him in a snap.And Rayman 3 ? Yeah, you do kick the ass of Reflux who becomes a god.....With the help of borrowed powers from Laser-Washing Powder and an AirShip....Not with your initial power.So..Kudos to you for having found out early that Rayman could be a Demi-God/God, but me ? I was completely, utterly clueless. I had no idea off Rayman possible godhood until Origins .I just knew he was one of a kind...That existed in Rayman the first game and who mysteriously stopped to exist in Rayman 2 (continuity ? What’s this ?) And who are now kinda back to be a thing in the recent game with the different Rayman skins...I digress...

Thing is, NOW, we know how he is born.

He is born from the Lums, who are the energy of the world, who are so powerful that just by dreaming, made the great Polokus, who’s the father of most of the population of the Glade of Dreams and who created Time itself.And you’re telling me Rayman is made of the stuff who just had to think of Polokus to create him ? 

I’m sorry but, that’s hella BIG.

That imply that Rayman can be something MUCH bigger than Polokus.While he was just created to be a simple protector of Polokus’s dreams.

I can get that for some people it’s not a biggy but for me, it seems it is, so eh.As for the whole

Keep in mind that Rayman didn’t make this long ‘nap’ alone. If that’s a criteria for godhood, then Globox is a god too.For me, it’s mostly a proof of immortality than anything else. The whole being literally made of the primal energy of the world tho ? Yeah THAT I do consider it as a proof of godhood. Hence why I did a comic about it.
