i think fatal journey is actually really good at letting us see Nie Huaisang's corruption arc, like he starts the film completely innocent (or willfully naive depending on how you look at it) re the sacrifices made to keep his sect alive and then over the course of the story is horrified as he learns of them, even as he partakes in them by going back for his paintbrush and causing the death of one of the men, and he takes a stand against the sacrifices!! He does! And he gets the rest of the men and his brother to question them! But then they all die anyway, either by the sword spirit or Nie Mingjue, and he sacrifices them again even after their death in telling Nie Mingjue that it wasn't him that killed them

I recently watched the Mario Bros movie and of course I fell into my usual rabbit hole of Tumblr reblogs and likes.
But I couldn't help to think about why I liked it so much.
The movie itself was fine, but the content I was enjoying on Tumblr was all so far away from what actually happened (in true Tumblr fashion) So I had no idea why I craved more content so much, specially Luigi stuff (which the movie lacked severely)
And then it hit me...
It's mOTHER FUCKING CHARLIE DAY'S VOICE
I'm so exited for Luigi content because fucking Charlie Day voices him!!! And of course my nerd-pacrim/sunny/Lego movie fan-transmasc ass was going to fall for it.
CHARLIE DAY HAS GOTTEN A HOLD ON ME AND I'M ANGRY ABOUT IT!!!!!
Anyways, great movie, very fun 8/10 needs more Luigi.

i hate it when shows or movies have unapologetically wholesome male friendships and everyone online calls them gay. worst of all is that the same people advocating for a healthy male friendship in media are the ones that call two boys gay when it's actually portrayed as a healthy friendship.
i thought we were trying to break the stereotype that men can't have ohter male friends and hug, and come through for each other every time, while simultaneously being 100% straight.
you can have gay relationships AND good male friendships. Not every guy x guy friendship/interaction has to be gay.

For the unrecommending books, i don't know if you have read the bridgerton books (i know you've watched the tv show) but i haven't liked any of the ones i've read
No, I haven't! Not planning to, either - the TV show is extremely pretty to look at and there are some characters I like, but I don't like the whole thing enough to try the books out. In general, I rarely read novels focused on romance - I need some kind of adventure plot or I start to get bored. (The historical setting makes it more interesting for me by default, but if I want to read a romance in a period setting, I can always just read classics like Austen and be sure of higher historical accuracy and - though the latter is rather subjective and not guaranteed - quality). I can enjoy, if occasionally, a romance movie or show without adventure, like Bridgerton in question, but not books.

there have definitely been a lot of nerd boys who missed that you aren't supposed to want to be like scott pilgrim, but i don't really see where the claim that there are specifically droves of incels who see scott as a role model came from
if anything, i see a lot of hatred for the series - and particularly the movie - from incels. their prevailing meme is "scott pilgrim vs. the world ruined an entire generation of women." they HAAAAAAAATE ramona. of course they do. she literally has blue hair and pronouns. many of them have convinced themselves that all the left wing women they hate who dye their hair and listen to indie music have literally modeled their entire lives after ramona. they believe that this apparent mass brainwashing of millennial and gen z women by ramona flowers is why they can't find a date
i would explain more but some loser literally wrote a whole fucking "incelcore" song about this
they also seem to hate scott, particularly as portrayed by michael cera in the movie. they think he's a lame, scrawny nerd who's constantly emasculated next to ramona's bigger, stronger, more conventionally handsome exes. they do not want to be like scott. they think he's a soyboy. they think he's gay. they think that in real life ramona would choose a "chad" like lucas or todd over scott, because that's their understanding of how relationships work
i would say more but some of the comments i've seen are truly heinous so i'll spare y'all
really i think folks have just forgotten that "incel" describes a type of guy with a very specific, very extreme, very hateful ideology. it is not interchangeable with your typical "tfw no gf" type nerd guy who just really liked all the video game references and writes in his tinder bio that he's looking for his ramona
