may I ask what was your PP about?

Sure! My project was on mushroom foraging, and I made clay models of commonly foraged mushrooms and similar looking poisonous mushrooms (e.g. chanterelles and jack o' lantern mushrooms). My goal was to display these models to raise interest in foraging. Unfortunately I wasn't able to display them because of school closures, so I made a website instead and shared that with students at my school.

To be honest it wasn't a perfect project. I didn't have many primary sources for my research, and as a non-expert it wasn't great that I was trying to teach others about foraging, especially because it involves distinguishing poisonous mushrooms from edible ones. While I did have disclaimers about that in my website and reflected on that in my report, looking back I think I should've chosen a different product for my project. I don't think anyone was gonna take a 15 year old's advice anyway, but ethical considerations are a component of the PP.

However, I'm quite proud of how my mushroom models turned out! I spent a lot of time trying to make them realistic and I think it paid off :) I do think that my report was alright as well. Having a good plan, consistently writing in my process journal, and taking notes during supervisor meetings from early on were all very helpful when I had to write the report later on, so I definitely recommend you do that as well. I also think it turned out well despite having to go through repeated school closures because of the pandemic and whatnot. I got an overall score of 6, and I'm quite pleased with that.

Sorry for the long reply! My best advice for you is to stay organized. Notes, journals, plans – these will be very helpful not only to keep you on track, but also for when you need evidence when writing Objective B (skills) of the report. I believe the PP is meant to prepare you for the Extended Essay in the DP, so the skills you gain from this experience will probably be helpful in the future! Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great.

but other than that there is also the issue of there being a lack of communication or moreso lack of resources given to us to help us on our research-based assignments like idk maybe it's because I'm coming from a board that always gives its students a crutch and ib is very researched based but I and a lot of my peers are lost on how exactly we're supposed to draft our ias or our ees etc etc 😔 we didn't come from myp we're literally the first dp batch and even tho the teachers r kind and teach well I'd still like to know their plan on how to help us on our cas hours etc
