How Do Artisanal Products Combine Craftsmanship and Fashion Storytelling?
In a world of mass-produced goods, Luxury lifestyle products offer a breath of fresh air, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern trends. These unique, handmade creations reflect the skills of artisans who pour their heart and soul into every item. Whether it's clothing, jewelry, or home décor, these products stand out for their quality, individuality, and the stories they tell. At Journey of Objects, we celebrate the beauty of artisanal work and its ability to connect fashion with deeper meaning through fashion storytelling.
Tumblr media
What Makes exclusive boutique fashion?
The appeal of Exclusive boutique fashion lies in their craftsmanship. Unlike mass-produced items, these products are made by skilled artisans who focus on quality and attention to detail. Here’s why artisanal products are growing in popularity:
• Handmade and Authentic: Artisanal products are made by hand, ensuring that no two items are exactly alike. This gives each piece a personal touch that cannot be replicated by machines. Every product tells a story about its maker, their culture, and their skills.
• Sustainable and Ethical: Many consumers are turning to artisanal products because of their sustainable and ethical production methods. Artisans often use locally sourced materials, minimizing the environmental impact. Additionally, purchasing artisanal goods supports small businesses and helps preserve traditional crafts.
• Quality Over Quantity: Artisans take pride in their work, resulting in products that are built to last. Whether it's a handwoven scarf or a custom piece of furniture, you can expect high-quality craftsmanship and durable materials.
• A Personal Connection: Artisanal goods often come with a backstory. Whether it’s the artisan’s journey or the cultural heritage behind the craft, these products have a soul. This makes them more meaningful to consumers who appreciate the effort and creativity involved in making each item.
The Role of Fashion Storytelling in Artisanal Products
Fashion storytelling plays a vital role in how we perceive and appreciate artisanal products. It’s not just about the product itself but the narrative woven around it. Here’s how fashion storytelling enhances the value of these products:
• Telling the Artisan's Story: One of the most compelling aspects of artisanal products is the story behind their creation. Each item tells a tale of the artisan’s skills, traditions, and journey. Fashion storytelling brings this narrative to life, allowing consumers to connect with the product on a deeper level.
• Connecting Cultures: Artisanal products often incorporate elements of local culture and tradition. Through fashion storytelling, these cultural nuances are highlighted, making the product more than just a functional item—it becomes a symbol of heritage and identity.
• Creating Emotional Value: When a product comes with a story, it resonates more with consumers. Fashion storytelling taps into this emotional connection, allowing people to feel like they are part of something larger than themselves. This connection adds value to the product, making it more than just an accessory or item of clothing.
• Empowering Artisans: By telling the stories behind artisanal products, we give a voice to the artisans. Fashion storytelling helps empower these creators, showcasing their skills and the hard work they put into each product. It gives consumers a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship and artistry involved.
Fashion Storytelling at Journey of Objects
At Journey of Objects, we embrace the power of fashion storytelling in every piece we curate. Our collection of artisanal products reflects the passion and dedication of the artisans we work with, each with a unique story waiting to be told.
• Cultural Heritage: Many of our pieces are inspired by traditional techniques passed down through generations. We celebrate the rich cultural heritage behind every item, ensuring that each product carries a part of its maker’s history and identity.
• Collaborative Design: Our process is deeply collaborative. We work closely with artisans to ensure that their voice and vision shine through in every piece. This partnership allows us to create products that not only meet modern aesthetic standards but also stay true to the artisan’s original craft.
• Sustainability and Ethics: We are committed to sustainable and ethical practices, sourcing materials responsibly and supporting artisans in maintaining their craft. Our goal is to create products that stand the test of time while minimizing environmental impact.
• Bringing Stories to Life: Through fashion storytelling, we bring the stories of our products and artisans to life. Our customers get more than just a product—they get a piece of art that represents the time, effort, and passion of its creator.
Why Choose Artisanal Products?
There are several reasons why choosing artisanal products over mass-produced goods is beneficial:
• Unique and One-of-a-Kind: Each artisanal product is unique, making it a perfect choice for those who want something personal and exclusive.
• Supporting Artisans: When you purchase an artisanal product, you are directly supporting the artisans who create them, helping to preserve their craft and livelihood.
• Sustainability: Artisanal products are often made using environmentally friendly materials and methods, contributing to more sustainable consumption.
• Aesthetic Appeal: The artistry involved in creating artisanal products results in beautifully crafted items that make a statement, whether in your wardrobe or home décor.
Conclusion
Artisanal products offer more than just material value—they represent craftsmanship, culture, and creativity. At Journey of Objects, we believe that every item tells a story, and through fashion storytelling, we bring those stories to the forefront. Whether it’s a handwoven garment or a unique piece of jewelry, our artisanal products embody the spirit of tradition and innovation.
By choosing artisanal products, you’re not just making a purchase; you’re becoming part of a larger narrative that values sustainability, individuality, and craftsmanship. Explore our collection and discover the beauty of artisanal work through the lens of journey of objects.

Meanwhile, in an upscale suburb of Seattle, Washington, the Sharma Sisters from Hyderabad are still running their successful line of clothing stores.
At first, a small affair known as The Sharma Sisters' Indian Apparel Boutique sold sarees, where they sold sarees, dhoti kurta, salwar suits, and other items of Indian apparel.
Not a business fated for grand success in your average upscale Seattle suburb.
Then, as fate or karma would have it, they came into possession of something they came to call The Threads of Karma Cloth.
Tumblr media
This, though super-science they didn’t understand, caused those who wore it (picked from a selected few) to become physically and psychologically attuned to the land of India. This, in turn, led to a much larger clientele in search of other less “esoteric” Indian apparel.
That's why they renamed their shops, which now had four in Washington state, to “You Are What You Wear Fine Indian Apparel.”
Which at last led them to branch out again with the opening of a shop in Boise City, Idaho.
Tumblr media
To run it, they hired experienced local sales manager Pamela Sheridan, whom they insisted she and everyone she employed in their name dress in East-Indian style while doing so.
Pamela played along, being a go-along-to-get-along sort of person; plus she really needed the job. However, she had to ask.
“I’m sorry, but isn’t this cultural appropriation?” “Not to worry,” said the Sharma sister, who had helped her get dressed in her first saree. Trust me, wear what I’ve given you, and things will work themselves out before you know it.”
Tumblr media
A week later, Pamela Sheridan was surprised to find this to be more true than she could have imagined.
Tumblr media
A month later, Pamvati Shiravadan was reassuring her four new Western women hired for the coming opening day that they, too, would soon be as comfortable in their new free sarees as she was.
Tumblr media
The four young ladies just hired, Vivian, Chloe, Lydia, and Willow, did not greet this news with much excitement.
Tumblr media
However, a year later, the four, now known as Veha, Kavuri, Lakshmi, and Wishi, were more than happy on winning the outstanding sales team with accompanying big bonuses.

Refresh your wardrobe with Heaven clothing store in Trivandrum
Introduction:
As we search in the ever-changing landscape of fashion,it is easy to get lost in the sea of trends and fast-fashion. But at Heaven Clothing Store in Trivandrum,we believe that style and sustainability go hand in hand. Our mission is to provide high-quality,fashionable clothing that not only makes you look and feel great but also supports a more environmentally friendly future. As we support more sustainable future fashion clothing
Indian fashion culture
Indian fashion culture is a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of tradition, innovation, and storytelling. At the heart of Indian fashion lies the timeless art of handloom weaving. Across the length and breadth of the country, skilled artisans ply their craft, creating fabrics that are as rich in history as they are in texture. From the luxurious Banarasi silks to the earthy elegance of Khadi, each handloom creation is a testament to India's artisanal heritage, passed down through generations with love and reverence. We cannot talk about Indian fashion without mentioning legendary sarees. The sari, a beautiful piece of clothing, represents grace, tradition, and feminine charm. It comes in many different styles across India, showing the country's diverse culture. Despite changing fashion trends, the sari remains a timeless symbol.
So Heaven Clothing and the saree boutique in Trivandrum know the importance of sarees. We are passionate about sarees and dedicated to providing our customers with the finest handcrafted designs that celebrate India’s rich textile heritage. We provide a huge collection of traditional and special sarees for our customers.
Indian ethnic wear includes lots of different kinds of clothes that people wear for special occasions or just every day. For example, there's the saree, which is a long piece of cloth that women drape around themselves in different styles. Then there's the salwar kameez, which is like a long shirt paired with loose pants and a scarf. It's comfy and can be fancy too. For big celebrations like weddings, women often wear lehenga cholis, which are fancy skirts with matching tops and scarves. Men have their own traditional outfits too, like the sherwani, which is a fancy coat worn with pants, or the kurta pyjama, which is a long shirt with loose pants. These clothes come in lots of different styles and colors, showing off India's rich cultural diversity.
Indian fashion culture extends far beyond the glitz and glamor of the runway, permeating every aspect of daily life. From the ornate bridal ensembles worn during lavish weddings to the everyday attire of bustling markets and bazaars, fashion is an integral part of Indian society. It's not just about looking good; it's about self-expression, cultural identity, and storytelling through attire. In this way, Indian fashion becomes a language of its own, speaking volumes about tradition, status, and personal style.

In Kerala, people wear a mix of old and new styles. Women often wear traditional Kerala sarees, and men wear Mundus, especially for special events. They look very classy, especially when paired with fancy gold jewelry. But nowadays, Western clothes are also getting popular, especially among young people. Even with these new trends, people still love and value Kerala's cultural traditions. You can see this in the colorful and stylish clothes they wear, which show off both old and new influences. Kerala's fashion is like a mirror, showing its rich history and changing identity.
Heaven clothing store really looking forward to Kerala fashion culture; it becomes heaven as the leading Trivandrum dress shop. We set up a special collection of a mix of traditional wear and western clothing for you. However, as fashion changes, Heaven's clothing also changes.

Traditional wears of India.
India's traditional attire is a vibrant tapestry reflecting the country's diverse cultures, regions, and historical influences. The sari stands as an iconic symbol of Indian femininity, with its graceful draping styles and intricate designs varying from region to region. Meanwhile, the salwar kameez, with its combination of a long tunic, loose trousers, and scarf, holds sway in North India, offering both elegance and comfort. For festive occasions and weddings, the lehenga choli steals the spotlight, blending ornate skirts, fitted blouses, and flowing dupattas into dazzling ensembles, particularly popular in the northern states.
In the world of men's clothing, different outfits have their own special place. The sherwani is the go-to choice for fancy events, with its fancy designs and classic look. On the other hand, the kurta pajama is more relaxed but still stylish, making it good for everyday wear or less formal gatherings. In the southern parts of India, the dhoti is popular. It's simple and traditional, worn by wrapping it around the waist and legs gracefully. In Gujarat and Rajasthan, during celebrations, you'll often see women wearing the colorful ghagra choli. It has vibrant skirts, fancy tops, and flowing scarves, reflecting the festive mood.

India's clothing also varies by region. In Kerala, men wear the mundu. In Kashmir, the pheran is common. And across India, the bandhgala, or Nehru jacket, is loved for its classy look. Each outfit has a story behind it, reflecting the culture and history of its region. Together, they create a rich tapestry of colors, fabrics, and traditions that represent India's diverse people.

Heaven Clothing Store in Trivandrum has special collections of traditional wear, not just Kerala's traditional wear. All over India, traditional wear is in our collection. We also have special wedding collections for the bride and groom. You can select any Indian traditional wear from our store.
Office Outfits.
An office outfit refers to the clothes people wear to work in a professional setting. It typically includes formal or semi-formal attire such as dress shirts, trousers or skirts, blouses, suits, dresses, and appropriate footwear like dress shoes. The specific dress code may vary depending on the workplace culture and industry norms. The aim of an office outfit is to look polished, presentable, and suitable for the work environment while also reflecting personal style within professional boundaries. It's all about looking professional and appropriate for your job. For guys, this usually means shirts, pants, and maybe a tie or a suit. For ladies, it could be a blouse and skirt or pants, a dress, or even a professional-looking top with trousers. The key is to choose clothes that are neat, clean, and not too casual. You want to make a good impression and feel confident while you work.
Women's fashion is currently experiencing a dynamic shift towards sustainability, with a notable emphasis on eco-friendly materials and ethical production practices. This trend reflects a growing awareness of environmental issues and a desire for clothing choices that align with values of responsibility and stewardship. Additionally, the athleisure trend remains popular, seamlessly integrating athletic wear into everyday outfits for a comfortable yet stylish look. Oversized silhouettes are also making a statement, offering a relaxed and effortless aesthetic that prioritizes comfort without sacrificing style. Another emerging trend is romanticized cottagecore fashion, characterized by soft, feminine silhouettes, floral prints, and vintage-inspired pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia and simplicity. Furthermore, there's a noticeable shift towards gender-neutral fashion, with styles and silhouettes designed to be inclusive and accommodating, shaped by factors such as social media, cultural influences, and sustainability concerns, providing women with a diverse range of options to express their individuality and style preferences. to individuals of all genders.
Men's fashion is currently embracing a blend of classic styles with modern twists, catering to a diverse range of tastes and preferences. Sustainable fashion is gaining traction, with an increasing number of brands offering eco-friendly materials and ethical production practices. Athleisure continues to be a prominent trend, seamlessly blending athletic wear with casual and formal attire for a versatile and comfortable look. Tailoring is also making a comeback, with a focus on well-fitted suits, jackets, and trousers that exude sophistication and style. Additionally, streetwear-inspired looks remain popular, characterized by bold graphics, oversized silhouettes, and urban influences. Men's fashion is evolving to embrace individuality and self-expression, with a focus on quality craftsmanship, versatility, and sustainability.

The "dark side" of fashion refers to the less visible but deeply concerning aspects of the industry, characterized by unethical practices and environmental harm. One prominent issue is the exploitation of workers, particularly in developing countries, where labor regulations are often lax. Garment workers endure long hours, low wages, and unsafe working conditions in factories, contributing to social injustices and human rights violations. Moreover, the fashion industry's rapid production and consumption cycle, known as fast fashion, fuels overproduction, excessive waste, and environmental degradation. Processes like dyeing fabrics and chemical treatments contribute to pollution and resource depletion, further exacerbating the industry's environmental footprint. Additionally, a lack of transparency in supply chains makes it challenging to trace the origins of materials and ensure ethical and sustainable practices throughout production. Addressing these issues requires collective action from industry stakeholders, consumers, and policymakers to promote ethical labor standards, environmental sustainability, and transparency in the fashion supply chain.
.
Solution for this is sustainable fashion Sustainable fashion refers to clothing, accessories, and footwear that are designed, produced, and used in ways that are environmentally friendly and socially responsible. This involves considering the environmental impact of materials and production processes, as well as promoting fair labor practices throughout the supply chain. Sustainable fashion encompasses various practices, including using organic or recycled materials, reducing waste through efficient design and production methods, and supporting ethical labor standards. Additionally, sustainable fashion encourages consumers to make mindful purchasing decisions, such as investing in high-quality, long-lasting pieces and supporting brands that prioritize sustainability. By promoting environmental stewardship and social equity, sustainable fashion aims to create a more ethical and resilient fashion industry.

Woodstock.
Woodstock, the most famous of the 1960s rock festivals, held on a farm property in Bethel, New York, August 15–18, 1969, at the end of the hippie movement. The hippie flower child look from the late 1960's carried over into the first half of the 1970's, in a non-restrictive bohemian silhouette with a heavy folksy influence. Arts and crafts had a huge impact on fashion during this time including tie-dye, batik, knitwear, crochet and macrame.

1970s Gunne Sax dresses.
Gunne Sax's aesthetic has been described as feminine, nostalgic, Victorian, old world and romantic. Though the brand is now closely associated with formal and bridal wear, its origins date back to late '60s San Francisco.  In 1969, San Francisco boutique Gunne Sax needed a house designer. Enter Jessica McClintock, an elementary school teacher with a life-long interest in fashion. When a friend told McClintock of the opening at Gunne Sax, she applied immediately. McClintock was hired despite her lack of formal training in fashion design or clothing manufacture. Herself and designer Laura Ashley popularized the prairie dress phenomenon.

Sometimes referred to as Granny or prairie dresses, a typical Gunne Sax dress of the early 1970s featured a banded Empire waist and a long maxi-skirt. Lace trim, high collars and long sleeves evoked an amalgam of past eras and created an overall impression of demure femininity.

Thea Porter, Godmother of Bohemian Cheque.
Thea Porter, who is credited with bringing the bohemian look to London catwalks. Although Thea Porter is not as famous a name as Mary Quant or Laura Ashley, her influence on the look of her era is just as potent. Her loose, draped shapes and fabrics helped create the style of stars such as Faye Dunaway and Elizabeth Taylor in the 1970s, and they have since become forever entangled with the idea of rock-star self-indulgence. She celebrated ethnic styles in Indian style prints, free flowing breezy gauzy tent dresses and wide legged pants.

Porter's seven signature looks: the Abaya & Kaftan; the Gipsy dress; the Fraye dress; the Brocade-panel dress; the Wrap-over dress; the Chazara jacket, and the Sirwal skirt, as well as important fashion photography from the pages of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Women's Wear.
Changing skirt sizes.
This was the year of the changing hemline. There is no longer one length for one woman, but a whole wardrobe of lengths from which to choose. Mini, regular, midi and maxi length. Both emerald and bottle green were popular colours of the 1970s along with rust, wine red, purple, orange, and brown.

Tom Wolfe called the 1970s the "me decade" Across the land, Americans seemed determined to escape from the wars and social movements of the previous decade. Disillusionment with national and global action led many to look inward and find solace in discovering more about themselves. Women demanded respect as equal partners, and began to emerge into the work place. As women asserted themselves economically, socially, and politically, the idea of remaining trapped in an unhappy marriage became less and less appealing. Consequently, the divorce rate soared. An 1974 book entitled the courage to divorce  encouraged individuals to put their own happiness above that of their spouses and children.
Every rule of fashion was shattered in the 1970s. Lapels, ties, and collars, reached record widths. The polyester leisure suit, available in a palette of citrus and pastel colors, was extremely popular among young males. The jacket, pants, and vest were often worn with an open collar to display thick necklace chains nestled in exposed chest hair. A senses of masculine style emerged in the film 'Annie Hall' which created a sensation with Diane Keaton wearing a fitted vest with a collard white shirt and men's neckties.

Mods: The Progressives
Background on the 1960′s fashion world:
When you think of the 1960′s you most likely think of the fashion associated with Mods like shift dresses, mini skirts or go go boots as well as fashion icons like Twiggy, Jane Birkin or Nancy Sinatra. Between  the 1950′s and 1960′s there was a transition in fashion as in the 50′s fashion was focused on French designers and was controlled around the wealthy elite. But with the new decade there was the creation of youth fashion where designers focused more on what young people were wearing. The cycle of fashion changed. It went from designers being copied by retailers to sell to consumers but they were taking inspiration from people on the streets and basing their design off of them. We also saw a shift in fashion capitals, London was fashions new muse, in particular Carnaby Street and in the Soho area in general.
Notable designers of the decade would be Mary Quant, Ossie Clark, Paco Rabanne, YSL, Givenchy and Andre Courreges to name just a few. Designers worked with man made materials to create their clothes and experimented with synthetics such as PVC and Polyester. Boutiques were made popular by Mary Quant setting up her first boutique in 1955. This was so that customers could combine items whilst still being accessible in urban environments like London.
Their seems to be a debate on who first created the mini skirt between Mary Quant and Andre Courreges when I was researching but some come to the conclusion that Andre created it whilst Quant popularised it. Breakfast at Tiffany’s was known for the black dress designed by Givenchy and created what we now know as “The Little Black Dress.” Now the most popular 60′s icons would be twiggy, Audrey Hepburn, Jean Shrimpton and Peggy Moffitt. However, people fail to mention Donyale Luna in that list, even though her impact has been important to the culture we know today. She was the first black women to appear on the cover of British Vogue and coined the first black supermodel. She also was reported as Andy Warhol’s and Salvador Dali’s muse. I recommend looking into her story.
Mods in the 1960′s:
Mods derived from the word modernists were teenagers from the baby boomer generation who’s families had benefited from the economic boom after WW2 in Britain. It was also a way to escape from the political issues that were going on at the time as they were seen as “adult problems” as it is reflected in the emphasis on being or dressing childlike as a divergence from adults. There were 3 stages of 60′s fashion. The early 60′s was the introduction of the ‘new look’ showing the new boxy silhouette that contrasts with the hourglass body type of the 50′s. Then there was the mid 60′s when the mini skirt and shift dress is introduced. In the late 60′s garments were more flowy, often associated with the hippies movement. This style was also influenced by south Asian clothing with pieces such as the Afghan coat coming from it as well as many patterns inspired from Indian clothing.
Bands like The Who, The Beatles and The Small Faces were influenced by this style as The Beatles were known for wearing skinny ties which were popular at the time. They were commonly associated with vespas as they were sleek and clean but also fast. A lot of teenagers preferred to go to coffee shops that opened late or jazz clubs. The style had evolved from their ancestors of the Teddy boys and ‘50s Betniks. Men’s style was influenced by suits from the Edwardian era as well as those of the French and Italian kind which were sharp and tailored. They also wore turtle necks and heavy jackets to survive UK winters.  The women also wore clean lines and bright colours and controversial above the knee hemlines (Knees! How scandalous, How horrifying!)  At the time they were seen as progressive which on reflection can seem quiet shocking for how far we have come today, even though today is far from perfect. The style to some extent was seen as quiet androgynous with women adopting short hair styles and were becoming more independent as the second wave of feminism influenced ideas of women in the 1960′s as women believed that they should build a life outside of the home. This style was quiet popular to say it was a subculture but it did also clash with the equally popular rocker crowd of the time in England.
When writing this I thought back to trends have realised that the 60′s in fashion has forever impacted culture but the mods can still be seen today in terms of trends with bright pastel colours and mini skirts being a forever staple. Although now I believe that there has grown to be subcultures but also an emphasis on personal style. There are so many icons from this decade that I wish I could all mention and explore. Not only in fashion but in music as well.
Hey guys, sorry it’s been a while, been focusing on school. I hope you are all doing well. Thank you for the love on my last post, I really appreciate it!!! Hopefully I will post more soon.
Lots of Love,
~Siren~ <3

ANTI-HERO by MINORITY 905 (ORIGINALLY BY TAYLOR SWIFT) & that’s all they wrote, friend! we can’t wait to see you around the golden city!
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Mentions of food (not eating disorders and no pictures)
tl;dr: madhi is a sassy but kind workaholic who wants to make friends but doesn't know how and is afraid of any sort of true relationship because if something were to go wrong, she is worried she can't handle it.
General Info
Name:  Madhi Nadar
Nickname: Mads, M—Madhi likes nicknames but her mother does not, so she didn’t really have many growing up.
Gender: Woman, She/her
Race: Asian (South Asian)
Ethnicity: Indian (Tamil)
Age: January 17, 1995 (27)
Place of Birth: Trenton, NJ
Parents: Janhvi & Nikhil Nadar (div. 2007, neither remarried)
Siblings: None
Cousins: Would be willing to plot!
Appearance
Height: 5’6” (66 inches; 1.68 meters)
Weight: 145 lbs (65.8 kg)
Hair: Long black hair, coarse and curly (3a)
Skin: Dark brown with a Neutral undertone
Distinguishing marks: None
Eyes: Deep, Dark Brown
Clothing: Madhi is a fan of pant suits for work and will work to fit a blazar with almost anything. She’s never been the most dress-oriented woman; though seems ironic in an industry that is, in part, all about THE dress. She does appreciate lighter colors and she thinks that yellow is a great color on her—so long as it’s deeper and not so…fluorescent. When Madhi is not at work, she gravitates toward leggings and a comfortable top—she’s big on the texture of the items she’s wearing, and she likes the soft, breathable, movable fabrics.
Personality
Temperament: Madhi is a determined, loyal, and persnickety individual. A combination of her family upbringing and own experiences combine heavily to cause her to want things a very particular way—mostly at work. She has been labeled a control freak at times, but that attention to detail and drive to get things perfect is what causes her to be the most requested wedding planner in her Boutique, apart from the owner and manager of course.
Madhi’s relentless focus at work has caused a bit of isolation from those around her. In part, this was a choice—relationships had caused her more pain than promise and they were uncontrollable. In addition, although Madhi would never go to therapy—if she did, she might share that emotions regarding losing or disappointing people in her life are “too much” for her to handle and she doesn’t know how to work through them to get to the other side.
Madhi is generous and kind but is also snarky and sarcastic. She has walls, and while they may not be as high as others, they are thick and it can take a while to get to her for who she really is.
Moral/ethical beliefs: Madhi is determined—she will work as hard as she can to provide her clients with the dream day they have always wanted. She will sacrifice herself to make that goal come to life. But Madhi will not sacrifice others to make it happen. As much as she stays away from most relationships, she does care about people deeply. She wouldn’t want the people in her life—whether it be clients or more personal relations—to be hurt in the pursuit of obtaining the goal. Well, to a degree. It’s debatable if Madhi understands her work ethic is perhaps hurting others, but she wouldn’t do so knowingly.
Madhi finds fulfilment in being surprising and exceeding expectations, but she won’t cheat to make it happen. She finds it lazy—Madhi has always loved problem solving and finding innovative solutions to obstacles in her way.
Religious beliefs: Mahdi did not grow up religious.  She does find herself spiritual in the sense that it’s worth doing good things for others because that is the energy the universe deserves, but not a specific higher power or religious instructor.
Political stance: Madhi has never been involved in politics, so there isn’t much here; but that can always change if necessary.
Hobbies: Madhi seems very stereotypical for a wedding planner. Always looks put together, always on time, carries a planner, has sixteen organizational methods and they all work seamlessly together. Answers for everything, dresses very feminine (even with the pant suit), had a lot of pink and whites and pastels in her wardrobe. But under the surface, Madhi is as dynamic as anyone.
Madhi adores video games, specifically multiplayer online battle arena (MOBAs) and real-time strategy (RTS) games. Remember how she enjoys problem solving?  Madhi finds these strategic games to be a great use of her skills—especially because typical games that require more dexterity are much harder for her to complete. Currently, she is playing a lot of Team Fight Tactics, though she has played Halo Wars in the past and found it just as fun.
Her other hobby is axe throwing; again, a little unorthodox—but there is nothing more empowering to Madhi than throwing an axe at a wooden target and making it stick. Oh, and she bakes.
Habits: Madhi always makes her coffee—she isn’t a coffee snob, and frankly she doesn’t even have the machines to make fancy coffee. Just her $14 Mr. Coffee machine and a regular paper filter from Trader Joe’s will do her just fine. But it’s the act of hitting the button, smelling the scent, and holding it up to her nose as her first action in the morning that really gives her peace.
She does have a habit of cracking her knuckles, back, neck or even shoulders—especially when she is stressed. She finds the sound takes the edge off a little bit.
Every Sunday night, Madhi takes about an hour to decorate her planner for the week. She is a big Passion Planner fan, and she enjoys the time she dedicates to making it look aesthetically pleasing. It sets herself up for the week in a great way.
Quirks/eccentricities: Madhi also does NOT like leftovers. At all. It’s a texture thing for her. She doesn’t like to waste food, so she works really hard to make meals that are a perfect size for one person.
She has a very specific way of walking around stores, and while she doesn’t walk around all stores the same way, each store has its own path she must follow.
The ONLY kind of basic utensils that Madhi uses are small spoon, small fork and regualr butter knives. She will use sharper knives if needed, but those are her basics. Please do not give her a big spoon, she will probably go and find a small spoon to wash instead.
Likes:
Colors: The colors sage green, olive green, gray, pastels (but not easter), Golden Yellow
Food: Murgh Makhani (her Mother’s and Grandmother’s only), Naan, Cream of Chicken Soup & Rice, Snickerdoodles, Shrimp, Sushi…ok the list goes on and on.
Cocktail: Margarita Mix & Crown Apple
Non-Alcoholic Drink: Coffee, Orange Soda
Smells: Gardenia, Apple, Chocolate Chip Cookies and…gasoline at a gas station.
Dislikes:
Colors: Bright Red, Orange and Yellow
Food: Yellow Bananas, Milk with Cereal, some (not all) mashed potatoes—really any super soft, mushy food.
Cocktail: Anything with Tequila. Once—and never again.
Non-Alcoholic Drink: Milk, Pepsi, Regular Mountain Dew
Smells: Any overly floral scent, Parmesan cheese.
Fears: Madhi is afraid of bugs openly. But inwardly, Madhi deeply fears rejection.
Strengths: Problem Solving, Customer Service, Seeing a project to it’s end, Adapting to her environment, measurements and visualizing a space, writing.
Weaknesses: Building meaningful relationships, understanding her own limits, letting go of control, mental calculations, self-awareness in some situations, creating work-life boundaries, anything to do with physical exercise.
Short term goals: Madhi would like a promotion to manager—or even associate wedding planner. She thinks she’s done a good job.
A secret goal she has is that she’d like some friends. Though she isn’t 100% sure where to start.
Long term goals: She wants to open her own Wedding Boutique and offer both traditional American wedding planning but also assist with other culture’s weddings, when appropriate, including her own Indian/Tamil heritage.
Hopes and desires: Madhi’s greatest desire is not one she’d admit to—but she wants to be loved. She feels like her whole life she’s had to earn it, and the wear and tear from constantly trying to prove herself is tearing her apart.
She will tell you that her desire is to plan the weddings of important and influential people through her own business and name.
Occupation: Madhi is an assistant wedding planner; she has her own clients but she still needs to work with a Associate Wedding Planner to sign off on choices and decisions she’s made.
Skills: Problem solving, Logical Thinking, Organization, People Skills, damage control, strategizing, axe throwing
Secrets:
Her biggest secret is that she doesn’t believe in love but she’s a wedding planner—so she fakes it all day long. It’s really more that she doesn’t believe love lasts—her parents were divorced at a young age and neither got remarried, believing they were better off on their own as well. Through her teen years, she saw a string of flings her friends went through and how they never seemed to last. Along with her belief that she will always have to prove her worth to those around her, how can love last if it’s always at the brink of being taken away?
Gear
Always has: her Passion Planner, a Pentel RSVP ball point pen in Black and her purse.
Events and History
Recent notable events
Madhi has recently had her 4th year work anniversary at Golden Hour Weddings
She found herself on Hinge?
She recently moved out of her mother’s house…like 6 months ago.
Bad events in the past
Her parents were divorce when she was 10—and it was nasty.
Her mother moved her to San Francisco when she was 12 and all the legal disputes were finally over
She doesn’t see her dad anymore, but they do talk on the phone.
Her mother had wanted her daughter’s life to be so much more than her own, so she pushed Madhi obsessively to achieve greatness—but it caused Madhi to feel like her current self was never enough for her mother.
Good events in the past
Madhi had a wonderful imagination growing up and could often spend hours creating kingdoms or stories or fantasies that allowed her to escape her mother’s expectations for her.
It’s the reason she loves wedding planning, even if she doesn’t believe in love herself, she does love the idea of creating these fantasies that people can escape into a live a different moment in time.
