We got Gideon Nav, who forms herself a very strong opinion about everything and everyone within about 5 seconds and then keeps affirming her own biases from there on. Who keeps straight up ignoring all important information for the sake of thinking about women.

We got Harrowhark Nonagesimus, who is mentally ill in like 5 or 7 ways, is haunted, doesn't trust her own perception for good reason and because that's not enough spends the entire book actively gaslighting herself post lobotomy.

We got Nona, who is many things but not smart. Who keeps prioritising her slice of life dramas over the plot events and actually understands less of what's going on around her than the reader.

We god John Gaius, and let me tell you that when a self proclaimed reddid nice guy tells me how he ended the world, but really all the big decisions leading up to this event have been made by his friends entirely against his will and he at no point had any choice to do anything really but was just constantly forced by the world around him to do the things he did, I get suspicious.

And then we got Ianthe Tridentarius. One single chapter. And she's all like, "I'm gonna mess with Harrow's hair. No reason. I just think it's fun. That girl sure is special messed up. I love that. Super attractive. Same way I am messed up, but more intensely. I should marry her. Might help her, but tbh I don't really care if I'm good for her."

Imagine you’re some little evil woman sitting in Hades’ throne room when Orpheus walks in to make a deal to get Eurydice back, and Hades is like “yeah ok, just don’t look back otherwise she has to stay here” then walks out of the room. Almost immediately after hearing the conditions, Orpheus breaks his own neck so that it is physically impossible for him to turn it, and then demands that you gouge out his eyes for good measure. Eurydice then gets really upset because she’s convinced this is a sign that Orpheus hates her and never wants to see her again, and Orpheus is completely convinced that this was a normal and logical thing to do.

You are literally the only person in the universe who recognizes this as an act of love. They both then insult you to your face for thinking this is anything other than very normal (Orpheus), or petty hatred (Eurydice).
