Alas, the world of Italian cinema has lost another great: director Umberto Lenzi, at age 87. What films did he do, you ask? He dipped his fingers into multiple types, including poliziotteschi (Almost Human, Gang War in Milan, Syndicate Sadists) and horror (Cannibal Ferox, Nightmare City, Seven Blood-Stained Orchids). If you haven’t seen any of his movies, check one out today!

Umberto Lenzi (Massa Marittima, 6 agosto 1931 – 19 ottobre 2017)
Olga Pehar e Umberto Lenzi erano sposati. Lei è scomparsa pochi anni fa..

Tomas Milian as “Rambo"
In the Italian Cult Movie ... Il giustiziere sfida la città aka Syndicate Sadists aka Bracelets de sang aka Flash Solo aka One Just Man aka Sadistų sindikatas
1975 poliziotteschi film
Data di uscita: 16 agosto 1975 (Italia)
Regista: Umberto Lenzi
Music by Franco Micalizzi
Distribuzione in italiano: Medusa Film
Syndicate Sadists was released in Italy on August 16, 1975 where it was distributed by Medusa.
It grossed 1,451,703,190 Italian lire.
Film historian Roberto Curti described it as a "huge hit in Italy".
Syndicate Sadists was released in the United States by Sam Sherman's Independent International. It was released in the United States titles “Rambo's Revenge” and on home video as “Final Payment”. It has been released as “One Just Man” in the United Kingdom.
The unrated American DVD of the film is missing two minutes of footage: a scene where the mother of the kidnapped boy comes home and Paterno's henchmen searching for Rambo in a pub, and two reaction shots.
The film predates Ted Kotcheff's First Blood, the film which introduced audiences to the John Rambo of David Morrell by seven years. Tomas Milian happened to read David Morrell's novel while flying from the U.S. to Rome. Loving the story he tried to talk some Italian producers into making a film out of it, with him starring as John Rambo. Nothing came of this, but he was allowed to use the Rambo moniker in the next poliziottesco he starred in.
The film does not borrow elements from the novel, with Lenzi stating he was more influenced by Don Siegel's crime films.

RIP Tomas Milian (3.3.1933 - 22.3.2017).
An absolute giant of Italian cinema, who turned his hand to every genre but brought an intensity and passion to every project he was involved in. I think I first saw him in Milan Odia: La Polizia Non Può Sparare (Almost Human, 1974) as the jittery, trigger-happy psycopath to Henry Silva’s cop. If you’ve seen the film, its an unforgettable performance - Milian makes himself a monster by degrees, crossing the line further and further but grinning maniacally through it all. Its as much a physical performance as anything; the handsome Milian twists himself into the role, leering and giggling as he drinks, takes drugs, kills. Notably his character is also bisexual - Milian was openly bisexual in real life and had affairs with men and women before marrying actor Margherita Valetti in 1964 (they were married until her death in 2012).
On the other side of the law, Milian played cop turned vigilante Rambo in Il Giustiziere Sfida La Città (Syndicate Sadists, 1975); the actor had picked up a copy of David Morrell’s First Blood in an airport and, taken with the character of Rambo, attempted to get a film adaptation made. It wasn’t to be, but he incorperated aspects of the character (and the name) into Syndicate Sadists.
Elsewhere he was a cool mafioso in Il Cinico, L'infame, Il Violento (The Cynic, The Rat And The Fist, 1977) and cut his giallo teeth on Lucio Fulci’s Non Si Sevizia Un Paperino (Don’t Torture A Duckling, 1972). This followed notable early work - including his turn as Raphael in Carol Reed’s The Agony And The Ecstasy, 1965 - before he settled into supporting roles in Hollywood (Stone’s JFK, Spielberg’s Amistad etc).
Needless to say there were countless others - spaghetti westerns, comedies, the incredible La Luna (1979). Hugely popular in Italy, at least in part because of his insistence on writing his own lines in Roman slang (an effect sadly lost on international audiences, where he was invariably dubbed), Milian made the transition from cult figure to fully fledged genre star. Easily one of the most important actors in Italian cinema, he leaves a legacy of unique and intense performances and a legion of fans across the world. Milian is survived by his son, Tomaso Milian Jr.
