Unpopular opinion I know, but for me The Fall comes in at the bottom of my list. I just, it’s really good, don’t get me wrong, but this is the one with the quietest vocals compared to the instrumentals, which makes it very hard for me to hear/understand. Otherwise, it was a really fucking hard desicsion to make, all of these songs are fucking bangers.

I’m going to elaborate on why exactly I have given each song it’s ranking, and rank it out of 10. As well as like, my own personal thoughts on each song this seems really awkward im so sorry jfc

1) Oh Yeah, You Gonna Cry? - 9.5/10 - This song is so fucking catchy, I love the beat and the lyrics. It’s been a brainworm for me since I first listened to it, and the whole repetition of the fact that ‘you’ve got the same eyes as your father / and you carry the same kind of temper too’. It makes the whole song, like, so much more powerful in my opinion. The whole song just really gets into like, missing someone and liking them and their energy at the same time and the contradictions. And the intro music *mwah* Some of the lines that make me go feral are: “i thought you knew her better than me” “you need to calm down” “say my name in her sleep”

2) Model Buses - 8/10 - I like this song a lot, but for me it just isn't on the same level as some of the others. Don’t get me wrong it’s a fucking amazing song that very much conveys a feeling of just, im not sure. I just know it slaps tho okay. Great lines: ‘And you’re just scared of the future’ (call me out will you), ‘ sound as good with slurred speech / as i do when i’m sober’

3) Concrete - 10/10 - In my mind, a song people seem to be overlooking. The beat is gold, the lyrics fit together so well, just like, yes yes yes. I have no clue what the mood of the song is but I feel it in my bones Lyrics!!! Every single ‘All this over a kiss’ in the whole fucking song. Like yes yes yes. ‘Have to LISTEN TO YOU

4) Perfume - 10/10 - I’m so glad they kept this in the EP. It’s so fucking catchy, and like, in a way it’s a subtle nod to the part in ‘One Day’ that goes “I’m not scared of empty rooms / im not afraid of new perfume” but then going into “i can still smell her perfume / did it rub off on you”. I also really relate to the whole bit about not being able to move on for a lot of reasons. And then circling back at the end with the bit about the taxi? Genius. AND THE HE/THEY PRONOUNS!!! Best lines: the whole bit about your ex boyfriend being a policeman, ‘it’s 3:45 (AM)’, and like, the whole first verse in general

5) You’ll Understand When You’re Older - 8/10 - The beat is catchy and I feel the people always telling kids that you’d understand when you’re older. Just, this one is a banger, the lyrics are genius, and i don’t know how to elaborate on the whole thing jeez. To me also like, the whole part about talking in your sleep which in my mind brings you back to Oh Yeah You Gonna Cry. And being banned from the kitchen because the grownups are talking? Just yes. Best Lyrics: ‘you’re keeping a dark secret, but you’re talking in your sleep’, ‘ sshe said she’s been inside for too long/ well no shit can you tell us something new’

6) The Fall - 8/10 - I like this song a lot, but the audio is quiet, which makes it hard for me to hear. It’s got some good parts, but overall it isn’t my favorite song. I love the way it describes a fall into like, a depressive episode or some sort of mental health crisis. The part about downing prozac and being scared of people like you? Just yes. And the part where Wilbur starts ranting is amazing; even if I don’t understand any of it bc of my auditory processing disorder. And the ending is *chef’s kiss* Best Lines: ‘we're so calm but so fucking scared fucking scared’, ‘a couple prozacs now im pumping dopamine’

7) It’s All Futile It’s All Pointless - 7/10 - I’ve got to say, im kinda disappointed overall with this. Dont get me wrong, it’s really fucking good, but like. It worked better as a guitar ballad imo. Like, the spacing in the ballad was better and i dont get tone, but i liked the tone in that one better. It got the angry and betrayed message across really well. The music in this version was ok, i liked the background to the chorus; it added a very clear angry strong emotion feel. But in a way, the guitar ballad was much more personal. And I really wasn’t a big fan of the ending, which in the ballad was very clearly angry, but in the EP was more like, up beat and funky, as Lovejoy’s music is. Idk, not a massive fan of this version, it’s not bad, just, less my style.

Overall the EP was really good in my opinion. i really love it sm *scream* The vibes are different than Are You Alright, and the vocals are a bit quiet, but overall a very well done job by lovejoy. I hope they keep up this awesome work!

it’s ancient greek! it means homecoming, the idea of a triumphant return home for the hero after a long journey. i found it through looking at the root of nostalgia. in this fic of course it’s kind of a grim tongue in cheek play on it. the reader’s coming back to the mountains, but she’s running away after a bad breakup, and the welcome she gets is... shall we say less than ideal haha

First of all as a person who reads monster shit- hell ya. Mhm. That’s some good shit right there. That was DELICIOUS horror. It actually had me a bit nervous and afraid to read what was gonna happen next 😳

ty nonnie!! i didn’t have the right space for it, but after kohsuke was ripped apart and eaten kuroo stayed by the reader’s side until late in the night, only disappearing when he heard the reader’s parents/search party approaching. they found her lying in pools of blood (and scattered half eaten body parts), shaking and unresponsive – they knew no animal could’ve done something like that. so they knew something lurked in those woods, but considering the reader had repressed the memories, her mom couldn’t just come out and say it <33

The blonde layed there, bruised and broken, beaten to a pulp, watching the culprit getaway, holding her sister, and her child, both badly injured bleeding, the other blonde sister had taken a big blow to the head cracking it open, shattered bones in the arm's, with cut-up legs, she could only imagine her pain was less than hers, her dull eyes shifted to her child, being carried over the shoulder, blood dripping out of her mouth, shaking out of shock and pain.

 She couldn't take seeing them both hurt, she tried to get up but could barely move her arms to lift her body off the ground a bit, her arm covered in cuts shooting with pain, her legs shattered, slowly going numb. Lex blinked away the tears of pain, pushing herself to move her arms and legs, she refused to give up and lose,  the two she cared about the most, trying to ignore the pain, with a scratchy voice she called out to the captive, "put them down...and..come and fight me…" she growled still struggling to get on her feet "I may be buried but I'm not beaten!!"

 She shouts soon coughing her lungs out "tch d-dammit" she groaned in pain "you look like your done..I'm not wasting my power on you.." the said turning to look at her "heh...you scared that I'm gonna kick your ass!" She smirked, trying to egg them on so they drop her loved ones "hmmm how about I end this" they said letting star go raising his arm aiming his attack at the struggling blonde "and here I thought you were supposed to be strong, with the power of a guardian angel running through you, as well as the power of a dragon.. pathetic." They smile darkly as they launch their attack at her. 

She didn't have a chance to move, the attack hit her head on, 

amplifying the pain tenfold, causing her to scream out in pain, knocking her out as she hits a tree, "maybe if you tried harder you would have had a chance" was the last words she heard. 

As she slowly opened her eyes she was blinded by bright lights "huh...Where am I?" She mumbled trying to sit up, she felt a burst of pain from her arms, and they felt Heavy, she looked at her arms noticing there in casts, she looked at them confused before looking around the room " what the...where am I..a hospital??" She asked herself, there was a knocking on her door, she turned her head to the door as it slowly opened to see one of her friends peaking "hey she's up"

 Pandora said opening the door more as her friends enter the room "glad to see your up" Sayaka said bluntly "yeah you gave us a pretty bad scare" Tenshi said softly placing a plate on her nightstand,

 "Sorry about that…" lex mumbles, "how did I get here?" She asked looking at her friends "nkita managed to call me and the paramedics by the time we got there, you nkita and void were about to be picked up by them" Julianna answers her question

 "about that do you know where star and amaniz are? We tried calling the-" Pandora stopped halfway through her sentence when she noticed lex's shocked expression "they really got them.." lex mumbles trying not to cry "about that care to explain why you went to go fight when you were still recovering from you last job" azale asks her "I had to.. they were hurt...I had a bad feeling if I didn't" she sighed trying to move her legs, but felt they were in the cast too "what about nkita and void how are they?!" Lex asked panicked" were not sure yet we checked up on them yesterday but they were knocked out, " Devon said.

"Lex...I think you should tell us what happened" azale pointed out "or at least tell us what the attacker looked like" Constance chimed in "I….I" lex tried to tell them but her memory was hazy. All she got were little flashes of what happened.

 Her breath got shakey, as she remembers how much she messed up, using a big attack out of lack of judgment, trying to let amaniz and star run to safety. Letting herself go trying to learn the attackers' magic, and how they fight, but she failed to pay attention, worrying too much about her family, leaving herself wide open, letting them get a good shot near her chest. Slowly mumbling to herself about how stupid she is unable to protect her sister and child as her eyes slowly turned back to normal, losing their dullness as her eye’s filled with tears “they were right there...and I couldn't do anything...I'm pathetic"

she cried "...then let's go get em," Cole said walking to the blonde's bed "huh…" "let's go get them back..once your Heald up we'll go looking for them" Cole answered "what! No way if the guy managed to fuck up lex nkita and void that bad there's no way we could stand a chance" Cherry shouted, "Well your wrong if all of us go together we can get them back!!"  "also you need to take it easy..your body is still recovering from the shock your lucky your friend gem was able to recover the badly damaged parts..you can be disregarded in a few days...but if you lose feeling in your legs take one of these" he hands her a few bottles of pills "lose feeling in my legs??" She asked "yes your leg bones were shared to pieces with a lot of internal bleeding your Nevers weren't connected either I'm surprised you manage to push through the pain" the doctor said in shock standing up "you should rest we'll call in gem to come and heal you some more..who knows if your lucky you can be discharged in two days" he said leaving. Lex looked down swinging her legs a bit "there's that bad feeling again..I need to go make sure everything is o-" she couldn't finish her sentence after being whacked with a massive amount of pain-causing her to pass out...

It soon hit him she was taken. Julianna looked around noticing there was a big blood puddle “it isn't like Viktor to up and leave like that...unless he was taken too” she said in disbelief “where’s azusa..” ruki said “kanato’s missing too” laito added “was it the same person who took star and amaniz” reiji question as the front door slammed open “WHERES ANYA!!” Subaru shouted in a panicked state with Tenshi following right after him

 “huh, you couldn't find her either huh,” ayato said “not to mention valla and athenia are missing too,” Tenshi said trying to calm her breathing. “We should head out to the others and make sure their saf-” glasses didn't even get a chance to speak when pandora kicked the front door open “WHERES GREMLY AND TCUP!!” 

she screamed with furfur right behind her “them too huh?” cole said walking through the busted up doors with Elina right behind him "manu and soon-bok went missing too" Elina sighed "so someone's targeting all of us" Simon said causing most of them to jump from his random appearance "so who do we know who could be doing this?" Lys asked

"I say chara.. she's the only one of us that can beat any of us easy without dying.." Devon mumbled in a rotten mood "who the hell is Chara" Pandora asked "I'll explain on our way back to the hospital" Devon's said walking out the door, with the others slowly following behind him.

ok i actually REALLY LIKE those new eps so MAJOR mlp season 8 spoilers under the cut

the first ep i watched was the one about the cmc helping a hypogriff/seapony who couldnt decide between one or the other. it was very very sweet n i loved how it was all handled, i love the idea of hypogriffs n seaponies splitting into diff cultures, which is not only a nice way of mlp showing how diff ethnicities n cultures can germinate, but also it made for a nice biracial metaphor with the teen hypogriff/seapony the cmc were helping n how he felt divided initially. also that was a KILLER song, damn

second ep i watched was the hearts n hooves one n oh my god. i was SO scared about it at first bc like. hearts n hooves?? with discord in it?? PLEASE NO, not to mention it was also a spike n big mac ep n i wasnt rly all too impressed with dungeons n discords so i had my hopes in the low for discords characterization but i RLY loved it. making discord a cynical ass gay who constantly criticizes *cough* heterosexual *cough* love n hearts n hooves day (specifically as a commercialized holiday god i loved that line) was super good, n the only thing that irked me a little bit was spike going ‘ay cmon discord what about you n fluttershy’ but even that wasnt much of a problem bc it was handled as discord basically being like ‘... i dont know what youre talking about i just like having tea’ n then it wasnt touched upon again so i guess?? were all safe for now. also lyra/bonbon still canon. only other thing that disappointed me was how the cmc seemed so bent on only considering stallions as secret admirers, but the ending with them was sweet so idc.

third was the chrysalis one (n i was shocked it wasnt a two parter season openeder n actually at the middle) n honestly, im glad this one didnt have the bg music because it just made it more hilarious n lost most of the dramatic tone. if you want a basic summary its literally just: chrysalis creates 6 awful daughters who cannot n will not stay put or listen to her to terrorize the mane 6 but instead theyre so uncooperative they all get split up, also some weird body horror at the end like oh my god?? tree of harmony is fucking metal with its defenses jfc. overall rly sweet ep, i liked how the mane 6 didnt even have to figure out they were dealing with some magic copy bullshit to apologize to each other n solve their problems, they all recognized where they went wrong n decided they should still be friends. also chrysalis being tormented by how the mean 6 behave was hilarious to watch.

fourth was the one w applejack n rainbow dash wanting to be teachers n imo the weakest one, but i LOVED seeing all the students, i overall just rly love the concept of the friendship school, its actually one of the season themes thats rly gotten me in love with it, i cant remember being this excited for a season theme since season 4 n the keys theme. that being said, i was kinda rolling my eyes at applejack n rainbow dash the whole ep, i mean, even twilight said it, they already learned that lesson. its one of those eps that gave me a lot of second hand embarrassment, but it was worth it just for seeing more of the friendship school. also yona is rly cute, i might kin her, specially since i think the yaks might be russian? but im not sure

so im gonna try strike witches: the unknown anime i chose to not familiarize myself with the premise beyond 'something like fighter pilots i think?' that i picked up by osmosis

and her motivation is her dad but eh sure whatever I kind of like the touch of 'it was classified military information' not sure why

theres nothing about Yoshika that qualifies her other than her personality and magic powers huh

I love Sakamoto and her A+ social skills HA HA HA HA HA also huh... she's not in on whatever's up with that letter

Yoshika so uh alright she'll take her without enlisting her huh interesting but uh what about school I guess military and witches can override all that and it kind of makes sense to me thematically

'Britannia' gee how familiar that name sounds and i dont mean geographically

so hm could Yoshika be a military doctor without actually enlisting? how do the formalities work there i like that Sakamoto doesnt question her dislike of all things military like its unexpected but mostly bc Sakamoto's got a one track mind that has a hard time expecting anything other than what she wants to happen and beyond that its like 'sure ok a conscientous objector got it' even though its weird how there would be conscientous objectors to fighting MONSTERS its not like theres an alternative to not fight I mean also clearly Yoshika is a kid and theres room left for that in other characters' treatment of her opinions and I love that they dont get Offended that she doesn't understand and Have Proper Respect well Sakamoto doesn't at least not sure about how other people will react

man that raccoon on the road sure was convenient though. like i first thought it was Sakamoto's deliberate tactic to gauge Yoshiko's powers. she was opening her eye to i guess do just that visually and then the raccoon appeared and it just felt very natural that one follows from the other? is this foreshadowing or are the writers of this anime just unfamiliar with the concept of 'subtle' i dont mind if its the latter tbh

(im writing a ton of reflection bc the episode broke after i tried to rewind a little and i decided to download it after all, and its doing that)

so far, this show seeems nicely straightforward and fast paced. like, really straightforward. yoshiko's introduction? saving a kitten. making a ww2 era anime without difficult shit? monsters attacked in 1939. motivations and revelations are handled with all the subtlety of a hammer to the face, from the raccoon to the letter. even fanservice has the same charming quality that makes me actually be okay with the entire point of their outfits being gratuitous panty shots. making sense and having pretense is for the weak. this anime knows what it wants to be and is going straight for that. i respect that approach

also its p clear that what it wants is to be character driven and its been Delivering on that since its only half episode one and i already Love two characters personally and also some supporting cast (Yoshiko's entire family)

and like you know that in some other show GASP MIGHT MY DAD BE STILL ALIVE would be a reveal saved for like. the halfway point. but here its literally the starting point spurring everything into action bc all other motivation was just too slow to get the character where she was supposed to go. good job yo

there's this trope where the main character doesn't want to go into the main conflict (Refusal of the Call)... and very often it's handled by either 1) letting them wallow until everything goes to shit showing how wrong they were or 2) immediately conveniently wrecking everything so they have no choice now I uh. am really glad this show went a different way if just joining the conflict isnt a good enough motivation GET A BETTER ONE and IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE ANGST (and it doesn't have to be romance, either!!! why are those two the only things writers seem to be able to think of jfc)

...okay I was more like two thirds through the episode rather than half but my points stand

okay so I think what just happened was Yoshiko realized the parallel between herself and her dad leaving and got scared and her response was to comfort other people and I love that <3

I love that Sakamoto doesn't have a doubt in her mind that Yoshiko isn't going to be useless and will definitely help and also comes to her to discuss this explicitly <3

man I love Sakamoto and her absolute lack of social graces and sense of when enough is enough

and the fact that Yoshiko is working chores now and seems to enjoy it too <3

and it's when it's established that she's part of the team that Sakamoto starts showing off <3 she clearly has a dedicated well thought out campaign of convincing Yoshiko going on and its borne out not of manipulation but of clear conviction that she is right and she just has to show the girl what she doesnt know yet <3

ahaha of course showing off worked <3

so I paused and imma make a bet with myself on whether Sakamoto is going to tell her 'if you liked that you can join' right now or leave that unsaid subtly my bet is that she is, bc subtlety is an entirely foreign concept to this wonderful human being, and if i lose im going to make my bed right now not even waiting for the end of the episode let's see

oh she starts with education huh, this is not widely known? i had no idea anyway lets see if she says the thing

Andrew feels the panic that has been seizing in hischest the last couple of days unwind just the slightest bit when he finally hasNeil safe and whole in his apartment and he hates it.

He hates that Neil has affected him so deeply. Thathe’s somehow managed to dig his fingers in and burrow beneath Andrew’s skin tothe point where Andrew feels a bone-rattling terror at the thought of losinghim.

He thinks he might hate it more because he knows hefailed Neil.

He promised to protect him. He promised Neil thatRiko wouldn’t touch him and he failed.Neil almost fucking died because of him. He hates the way he feels about Neil.He hates Neil. But mostly, he hates himself.

His knuckles are white where they’re clenched aroundthe notebook in his hand and it takes all his self-control not to rip it toshreds and light the pieces on fire. He doesn’t like looking at it; he usuallyonly ever reaches for it in the dark – when he can’t sleep and his defences arelowered just enough that he feels like writing something down.

When he hears the front door click shut after Abbyand Wymack he carries himself into the living room where Neil has set up campon his couch. He looks too small still, small and fragile with a bruise on hischeekbone and a split lip.

Andrew forces himself to throw the notebook into Neil’slap even though parting with it makes him feel sick. He might as well have sawnoff his arm and handed Neil that instead – though he thinks even that might notbe as revealing as what he just gave Neil.

Neil stares down at it, perplexed, hand sliding overthe cover and making Andrew want to shiver as if Neil had touched his own spineand not the book’s. “What’s this?” Neil asks finally, gaze wandering back up toAndrew’s.

“You wanted to see my songs.” The words taste likeash on Andrew’s tongue but he forces them out anyway.

Neil’s eyes drop right back down to the notebook,mouth forming a tiny ‘o’ shape as he stares at it with new kind of expressionon his face – somewhere between shock and confusion.  “Why are you giving this to me?”

Andrew huffs, hands clenching and unclenching at hissides as he looks for a way out. Finding none, he settles on, “I broke mypromise.”

Neil’s head snaps up so quickly Andrew’s surprised hedoesn’t wince at the feeling of it. “No you didn’t.” He stares at Andrew and,finding no change his expression, presses on. “Andrew, no you didn’t. Riko’s the one to blame here and as far as I’mconcerned he got his penance. This isn’t my fault and it’s not yours either. Incase you’re forgetting, you’re the one who found me.”

He’s earnest and fervent and so fucking stubborn,Andrew can’t stand him.

“Because Jean and Kevin-“

“And who else was quick enough to lose the thug Rikohad following them?” Neil challenges. “If you hadn’t gotten to me as fast asyou did who knows what would’ve happened?”

Andrew glares at him, swallowing down the venomcreeping up his throat. “I promised you I wouldn’t let him touch you.”

“And he won’t anymore,” Neil says simply, quieterthan they’d been talking before. He looks down at his lap again, index fingertracing over the cover once more before he does something Andrew doesn’texpect. He holds the notebook back out to him.

Andrew stares at his outstretched hand. “You wanted-“

“Not like this,” Neil shakes his head. “I want toread your lyrics but only if you want me to. Not because you’re punishingyourself.”

Andrew fucking hates him. He hates the way Neil canread him so clearly without even having to try. He snatches the book back whenhe decides he can’t look at Neil anymore and storms out of the room.

His own bedroom feels claustrophobic with the doorclosed but he needs to be alone. He spends the afternoon in there with thecurtains drawn, sitting in the darkest corner of the room while he tries to makesense of the tangled mess of his head. Neil makes him feel things. Things henever wanted to and never knew he could feel. He’d thought this part of himselfdied long ago, until Neil had stumbled into his life and suddenly turned thevolume up full blast.

He leaves his room once to make sure Neil eats but hecan’t stay in the living room with him while he does.

Panic is still clawing at his throat, twisting him inknots so tightly he feels he might choke with it.

He lies on his bed when he returns to his room, eyesfixated on the nightstand where he’d dropped the notebook earlier. There’s asong in there, words that had been niggling at the back of his head for toolong. Words that he’d very briefly spilled to Neil one day on a plane with apen in one hand and Neil’s palm in the other.

The thought of singing it scares him in a way thatheights never have.

But the fact that part of him actually wants Neil to hear scares him even more.

It’s hours later when he’s about to go to bed that hemakes a split second decision and goes to the living room instead. Neil isstill awake, doodling in his own notebook, and he startles when he noticesAndrew.

“Come on,” Andrew says before walking away again,tracing a familiar path through his apartment until he reaches his music room.

Neil finds him not long after, already sitting on thepiano bench and staring at the keys like they’ll have an answer for him.

“I didn’t know you played,” Neil says quietly andAndrew glances at him over his shoulder, only looking away when Neil drawscloser.

“Sometimes,” Andrew admits, moving to one side of thebench so Neil can sit beside him.

He watches the way Neil’s fingers caress the keys,not pressing down, just ghosting over them in something like curiosity. Oradmiration.

“I told you I finished the lyric.” Andrew saysfinally and Neil turns to him.

“Andrew, you don’t have to-“

Andrew shakes his head because if Neil talks he’llnever work up the nerve to do this ever again. “Just- shut up.”

Neil stops and Andrew looks away from him, focusingon the keys instead. It’s the only thing that lets him play. He blocks Neilout, spreads his fingers out over the keys and opens his mouth to sing.

“I wanna sleep next to you  But that's all I wanna do right now  And I wanna come home to you  But home is just a room full of my safest sounds…”

He can feel Neil’s eyes onhim and it makes the hairs on the back of his neck stand up but he forceshimself to continue.

This is about Neil. But it’salso about him a little bit.

It’s Andrew taking thatstep off the ledge and letting himself fall for once. He’s letting Neil knowhow he feels about him in a way they both understand. But he’s also lettinghimself just- feel. He’s not choking back the words or hiding them beneath amask of impassivity. He’s just being.

He thinks idly Betsy wouldbe proud of him.

He sings, “Come overnow and talk me down,” and part of him still shrinks away from how true thewords are. How there’s a pressing, intrusive thought at the back of his headthat’s just begging Neil to save him. He doesn’t need saving and he doesn’tthink Neil could anyway even if he tried; Andrew is definitely too far gone.But asking Neil to simply be there feels just as vulnerable.

He finishes the song witha lump in his throat that he pointedly ignores, voice trailing off until it’shardly above a whisper by the time he reaches the final lyric. His fingersstill on the piano and he holds himself frozen, staring at the music sheetswith unseeing eyes while he processes what he’s just done.

Neil’s fingers are cold onthe underside of his chin and gently tilt Andrew’s head until they’re gazesslide to meet one another.

“Thank you,” Neilwhispers, a quiet kind of incredulity in his voice. “You were amazing.”

Neil’s gaze flickers fromAndrew’s eyes to his mouth and he takes an agonisingly long time to close thedistance between them. But when he does it feels like the moment after anexhale, like the moment of coming up for air after you’ve been holding yourbreath for too long.

Andrew’s never been sograteful to take a breath in his entire life.
