In an Independence Day speech overwhelmed by a mass shooting at a holiday parade in a Chicago suburb, US President Joe Biden sought to strike an optimistic note of unity. Addressing a July 4 barbecue for service members at the White House, Biden expressed confidence in America's ability to overcome what he called "unsettling" times. "The economy is expanding, but not without difficulty. Liberty is under attack, both at home and abroad "Biden stated. "In recent days, there has been cause to suppose that this country is regressing, that freedom has been reduced, and that rights that we assumed were shielded are no longer protected." Biden was referring to a string of Supreme Court decisions that overturned the 50-year-old governmental right to abortion, expanded gun rights for those who want to carry them in general populace, and limited the government's ability to combat climate change. "I know it can be emotionally draining and unsettling, but I want you to know tonight that we're heading to get through this," he added. Biden made only a passing mention to the morning shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, in which a shooter opened fire on a parade with a high-powered rifle, killing six people and injuring two dozen more. चैतन्य भारत न्यूज 15 अगस्त यानी आज का दिन भारत में स्वतंत्रता दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। साल 1947 में इसी दिन भारत को ब्रिटिश शासन से आजादी मिली थी। ऐसे में स्वतंत्रता दिवस देश के हर व्यक्ति के लिए खास महत्व रखता है। इस साल देश में 74वां स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया जाएगा। आजादी की सालगिरह के मौके पर आज हम आपको बताने जा रहे हैं हमारे राष्ट्रीय पर्व से जुड़ी कुछ खास बातें।

हर साल स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री दिल्ली में स्थित लाल किले से झंडा फहराते हैं। लेकिन 15 अगस्त 1947 को ऐसा नहीं हुआ था। कहा जाता है कि देश के प्रथम प्रधानमंत्री पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू ने 16 अगस्त, 1947 को लाल किले से झंडा फहराया था। 15 अगस्त तक भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच सीमा रेखा का निर्धारण नहीं हुआ था। इसका फैसला 17 अगस्त को रेडक्लिफ लाइन की घोषणा से हुआ जोकि भारत और पाकिस्तान की सीमाओं को निर्धारित करती थी।

लार्ड माउंटबेटन ने निजी तौर पर भारत की स्‍वतंत्रता के लिए 15 अगस्‍त का दिन तय किया था, क्‍योंकि इस दिन को वह अपने कार्यकाल के लिए बेहद सौभाग्‍यशाली मानते थे। जब देश आजाद हुआ तब भारत का कोई राष्ट्रगान नहीं था। हालांकि रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर 'जन-गण-मन' 1911 में ही लिख चुके थे, लेकिन यह राष्ट्रगान 1950 में बन पाया। 15 अगस्त 1947 को 1 रुपया 1 डॉलर के बराबर था और सोने का भाव 88 रुपए 62 पैसे प्रति 10 ग्राम था।

15 अगस्त 1947 को जब भारत को आजादी मिली थी तब राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी इस जश्न में शामिल नहीं हुए थे। दरअसल उस समय वह दिल्ली से हजारों किलोमीटर दूर बंगाल के नोआखली में थे, जहां सांप्रदायिक हिंसा की कई घटनाएं घटी थी और राष्ट्रपिता उस हिंसा को रोकने के लिए अनशन कर रहे थे। 15 अगस्त 1947 को लॉर्ड माउंटबेटन ने अपने दफ्तर में काम किया। दोपहर में नेहरू ने उन्हें अपने मंत्रिमंडल की सूची सौंपी और बाद में इंडिया गेट के पास प्रिसेंज गार्डन में एक सभा को संबोधित किया। 15 अगस्त 1947 को इंडिया गेट पर झंडा समारोह आयोजित किया गया और आतिशबाजी की गई थी।   Read the full article

PM Modi announces in all Indian villages connected with optical fiber in next 1,000 days [ad_1]

"Every village in the country will be connected with optical fiber cable in the coming 1000 days," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address on the occasion of 74th Independence Day today.

PM Modi mentioned that before 2014, only 5 dozen panchayats in the country were connected with optical fiber cable. In the last five years, about 1.5 lakh gram panchayats in the country have been connected by cable.

Expressing gratitude to PM Modi for this announcement, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted, "Today you have entrusted the responsibility of the Department of Telecommunications to connect all villages in India by optical fiber internet in 1000 days. It is for digital The game is changer. India. With your inspiration, we will do it. "

During the 74th Independence Day speech, the PM also announced that Lakshadweep would be connected with submarine optical fiber cable in the next 1000 days.

"We have about 1,300 islands. Recently, we connected Andaman and Nicobar Islands with underseat cable for a better internet. After this, we will connect Lakshadweep."

Earlier this week, PM Modi inaugurated the first underscription optic link between Chennai and Andaman and Nicobar to ensure high-speed broadband connectivity for the union territory with services in cities such as Delhi and Chennai.

He laid the foundation stone of the 2,312-km Chennai-Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) to connect the submarine optical fiber cable project on 303 December 2018.

Referring to Digital India, he said that during the COVID-19 epidemic the importance of the mission has been realized.

He said, "In the last month itself, there was a transaction of about Rs 3 lakh crore through BHIM UPI. ''

During the lockdown period, digital transactions saw a huge increase.
