there WAS some build up for Honey's betrayal in Supernova. Was it in line with her character before Supernova? HELL NO. Last time her character was accurate imo was when her and Nova were reunited after Nova was imprisoned

It's not like its ENTIRELY out of character, it's mainly the way she's cruel that feels so out of nowhere. She acts so shocked that Nova grew to care for Adrian, when Nova getting closer with Adrian has been the goal the past two books. Did she really never think Nova's allegiances got mixed?

There are pieces that would have made Honey's betrayal feel deserved to me. A further emphasis in the other books that Honey believed everything Nova did with Adrian was an act at least.

The betrayal scene could have worked too if Honey hasn't been written in Supernova to sound so much like. Ingrid.

They just. Aren't the same until this book. If you read her scenes imagining its Ingrid its almost entirely like Ingrid came back.

Y'know what I think would have worked better for a betrayal scene if Honey HAD to betray Nova? Frame the scene with Honey still believing she loves Nova, still cares for her. That all Honey's bee stings are a small punishment and not the near death experience they are, Do a Mother Gothel with this bitch. She believes she knows whats best

But honestly I will always prefer Honey to have never betrayed Nova. Nova can't shoot Adrian. She can't pull the trigger. And the attention turns to Honey, who has to chose between Nova and Ace. At first, after plenty warnings from Honey, its an easy choice. But as Nova tenses, the bees awaiting to sting her

Honey hesitates. Stuck in the same position Nova finds herself in with Adrian. Honey can't hurt Nova. She cares too much for her. With all her affection in the past books, her relief with Nova being okay, its like Nova is one of her own. From what I recall, Honey's motivations are driven by her love of everything bees hornets wasps etc. She has a traumatic backstory connecting her to them and damage to them is damage to her. Nova has become part of her family in a strange way, and she can't bring herself to hurt her

Contrast it with Ingrid and show thats the difference

Then if you still REALLY want Honey to die, Ace kills her. He kills someone a part of his family and its another thing that instigates the reveal that Ace was the one to kill Nova's family, the one who sent the assassin. He doesn't take betrayal well and will snuff it out.
