the detail's of dot's linda dream is actually so interesting but especially the part where linda tells her that dot clearly came there for a reason and she must work thru it to be able to leave. dot who hasn't thought of linda in years because she's forced herself to push it down dot remembers linda she remembers gator she remembers roy. dot told herself that linda ran away because she needed to believe that escape was possible except she believed it so well she forgot it was all a lie. to the point that you the viewer almost want to believe it too and it makes you sad when the truth slowly starts revealing itself with chicken piccatta and the windmill that dot unearths the postcard is the same windmill they bury danish when he dies (bc linda is dead!!) and the look in gator's eyes when dot says his mother still loves him and him saying dot has never told one true thing in her life and when she sees the windmill again she realizes roy wasn't lying and you almost want her delusion to be real except you can't. because it's the whole point of the story that she can no longer run away from the truth. because the new people in her life won't allow dot to pull them into her fabricated reality. because like wayne tells scotty, you have to go to other places to be able to come home.
