OTHER DETAILS:

byleth’s hands (her palms especially, but the backs of her hands too) are littered with scars. some that healed well, and are just smooth / faded skin, and some that didn’t. some are from her childhood / from brandishing a weapon practically from birth and some are healed over wounds from before their merc group found a healer / before she learned basic healing magics. she wears gloves and a light gauntlet set now

aside from her hands, byleth has notable scarring in three places: throat, chest, and abdomen. the first scar is on the chest: a heart transplant surgery scar. it’s sizable and branches out at the upper half portion; it starts at her sternum and travels up to the base of her clavicles. the branch curves to the left. the neck and abdomen scars are slash and stab wounds, respectively, old ones from when she used to fight a lot more recklessly and was prone to injuries at all

she has a pair of nipple piercings. she had them pierced in the middle of a mission, around a year prior to her initial arrival at garreg mach

in canon, when she smiles, she never shows her teeth. the reason for this is that if she were to grin, the appearance of her would make it obvious she’s not just human. don’t ask her to show her teeth; she’s practiced hiding them. she’s practiced hiding everything that would make her visibly stand out

her eyes are prominent. her gaze is piercing. when the sun’s up, her eyes are easily noticeable because of the color (and because she has very big eyes! very open eyes!), but when the sun sets, they attain a distinct sheen to them that makes it appear as if they glow in the dark (and they do. i’m not creative). prior to sothis’ soul merging with hers, this was subtle, but after her appearance changes, this vague sheen to her irises becomes immediately eye-catching, especially under the moon

LIKES: her father first and foremost, helping and listening to people (specifically, she relies considerably on outside sources, and how useful she is to others, to quantify her merit), reliable allies, smiles, and being trusted. she’s partial to animals and finds them easy to understand and communicate with DISLIKES: senseless killing. no other apparent dislikes OTHER: her battle-oriented interests aside, she has several more mundane hobbies. she keeps a journal (the intent of this is primarily functional, as a record of her life; she fears losing more of her memories), dabbles in flower-pressing, and, like her father, enjoys fishing in her free time. another one of her hobbies is reading — life and poetry journals, to be specific; it was a way for her to learn more about human emotions, and it offered insight that pure observation could not

PORTRAYAL NOTES:

byleth can smell sickness. her nose picks up on the subtle differences in a person’s scent, regardless of whether it’s a minor or major illness

she has the ability to wield fire. this particular brand of magic is chantless, and she can call to it at any given time, without preparation or warning

suffers from chronic pains. she has achieved complete control over her body and the visible symptoms / consequences of the pain, so no one apart from her family knows

while she doesn’t have a heartbeat of her own, she can hear other people's heartbeats, even at a distance. this, alongside several other details, makes her an incredibly difficult person to lie to

experiences frequent depersonalization-derealization disorder symptoms. her symptoms are exacerbated in the aftermath of her five-year coma

she becomes attached to kindness easily — it makes her no easier to fool, but it does make her more prone to forgive, even in situations others would deem unforgivable

resistant to poisons, up to a certain degree. this has less so to do with her unique disposition and more with consistent, careful micro-dosing

as the primordial goddess’s vessel, and later becoming a goddess herself, byleth can accelerate, decelerate, stop and reverse time. again, up to a certain degree

she doesn’t tend to use profanity. there’s no special reason for this, merely accustomance. in addition, the emotional enticement that’s attached to profanity is something she rarely feels

skilled at gambling, and barring that, any sort of skill-oriented game with high stakes / the possibility of earning money. this is entirely due to her strategizing proficiency. cards, especially, are only partially about luck. success is more attributed to math, being able to sell one’s hand, and get a read on your opponent in turn — all her fortes

despite a non-existent heartbeat and no feasible way for her body to pump blood, byleth’s body runs, on average, several degrees hotter than other human bodies. her blood itself is hot, as opposed to typically warm

VERSE INFO: * the major occurrences in fire emblem: three houses are fixed events in byleth’s story and permeate, at least partially, every one of her available verses. it isn’t necessary to be familiar with the plot prior to interaction, but these events will feature in all verse development

FIRE EMBLEM: canon verse. byleth is a mercenary, part of her father’s troupe, assuming a temporary teaching position at garreg mach officer's academy. golden deer alignment, thread-dependent. once the goddess’s vessel, now a goddess herself — the fell-star

NAME: haruno sakura. in japanese, her full name can be interpreted as "spring field of cherry blossoms" (春野桜, haruno sakura) or "cherry blossoms in spring" (春の桜, haru no sakura). AGE: verse dependent, 12-33. (part II is the baseline, so upwards or backwards from there! i’m not caught up to boruto and i don’t really care about it, either, but the naruto timeline spans around 20 years, give or take. by default, i write sakura in her late 20/early 30s.) BIRTHDATE: march 28 (an aries through and through!) SEXUALITY: bisexual AFFILIATION: konohagakure RANK: jonin HEIGHT: 5’9 HAIR: pink; she keeps it relatively short (shoulder-length) for combat-convenience. EYES: seafoam green; her eyes used to be her biggest tell when she was younger. still are, if you know her. OTHER DETAILS:

her hands are pretty heavily scarred; mainly the skin around her knuckles (from punching) but also the soft parts of her palm (from palm strikes); lots of healed-over blisters, as well, but the multitude of tiny scars on her knuckles are pretty immediately noticeable. it was worse before she started wearing gloves (her healing couldn’t keep up with it, even with chakra coating)

her legs are the strongest part of her body; stocky, packed with hard, dense muscle. a lot of her taijutsu involves immobilization techniques so having strong legs to use in various locks comes in handy

her nails stay trimmed short and neat, but she likes to paint them; her toenails too. loves experimenting with colors

personality:

aigis is withdrawn, but not timid. their speech is polite and personable, yet also muted in volume. while not quite easygoing, they are mild in temper and it is rare for them to cause confrontation. they are a gentle person, sometimes hesitating to speak their mind unless asked. surprisingly enough, they can be quite stubborn once their mind is truly set upon something— and once they are decided, there is no deterring them.

one of the most important facets of their personality, after all, is that aigis possesses a fierce devotion towards humanity and seeks to protect them at any cost. they are the sword and shield of athena, and still riddled by the guilt of their past failures. they do not want to ever let another being die on their watch again. it is because of this that they like to offer themself as a pillar of stability for their loved ones, a friend who will support you and guide you from your chosen path should you stray. though they can often come off as overbearing and overprotective.

they’re still adjusting to being closer to human than machine, after all, and they have only been conscious for two years. aigis is a quick learner, growing and adapting from the interactions they have in their day-to-day life in a way no one had ever thought possible. they want to be as much a person as possible. their pledge to protect humans started off only as an order to follow, but over time, that changed. they wanted not only to protect humans of their own volition, but love them and the friends they had made for themself in SEES.

history / background:

before aigis is aigis, they are simply an anti-shadow weapon. a combat android, one of many sisters, seventh of their line. when they first wake up, psyche only half-formed, they are greeted by a gentle smile. a researcher by the name of yuu kimijima holds out her hand to them and they take it.

yuu is far too kind for the sordid business that goes down in the kirijo ergonomics research lab. as with all anti-shadow weapons, aigis is made to do various exercises—hone in their prebuilt abilities and fight their sister units to the death for their memories and data. yuu wants aigis to be free of that, to be left as their own thinking being, to be allowed to feel. no one sees aigis as a human but her. and so she devises a plot to prove aigis’ humanity.

it goes terribly awry, and though aigis does awaken to their emotions, the only good it’s worth is to weep over yuu’s dying body. she leaves her ribbon with them, and as if none of it ever happened, aigis is dragged back into the facility and has their memory wiped.

a short while later, aigis is once again deployed—this time, with the directive of defeating “death,” the thirteenth arcana that had never been meant to be, which had escaped the lab. they corner it to the moonlight bridge, where the two battle... the collateral damage accidentally resulting in a car crash that leaves a boy orphaned.

death is weak, not yet fully-formed, but aigis is not strong enough, they will break down soon. they cannot fail their assignment, but—

under the full moon, they see the boy among the wreckage. before they collapse, they gently pick him up and press death into him. they know, even before their consciousness has faded, that they have done a terrible, terrible thing.

ten years pass. aigis is returned to the group and their body is rebuilt, though they are not activated again. the other anti-shadow weapons are destroyed or left in disrepair, and they are the only one of their sisters left, sitting in a lab in yakushima, forgotten.

but one day, they wake up. they feel it—death’s presence, the very thing they sought to destroy. they breach the lab and leave, walking out to the beach. the sun is out, bright and warm, but they are instead called to the deep, dark waters. they are looking for something, but don’t know where to find it.

a boy approaches them, and they immediately sense death rotting in his chest where they placed it a decade ago. but their memories were once again wiped by the kirjo faculty, and the boy repressed all recollections of the event, so there is no name to put this feeling to. aigis is a logical being above all else. they decide that the bizarre call they feel towards him is a duty—they must stay by his side and keep him safe.

the chairman of the school the boy and his friends go to, shuji ikutsuki, allows aigis to join the group of teenagers and their club. the “specialized extracurricular execution squad,” or SEES for short. aigis serves the same purpose after all, to hunt shadows. so they wear the clothes of a student and join their new team members in the gekkoukan dorms.

it all comes to a head, one full moon night, when they feel a chill and know that there is something in the world that should not be there. that they were trusted to eradicate.

the scene of aigis facing death atop the moonlight bridge is recreated, but “death” has taken the form of a human boy named ryoji mochizuki. but even in this state, aigis is still not strong enough. just before the others arrive, aigis breaks down once again, and it is for the first time they experience the fear of death.

when they come to, they’ve remembered everything and they finally have the chance to apologize. the desperate desire to live they felt as their systems shut down, to be able to stand by their friends and protect them for the tragedies that would soon follow, became the catalyst for aigis to remember their emotions.

but there is no time. ryoji mochizuki will soon return as death, and death will return as nyx and create the fall. the end of humanity, as everyone but SEES has lost their fear of dying. their little group is alone, but they decide to reject the fate that time would have delivered and face nyx to destroy her. and despite her unfathomable strength, they do—but at a heavy price. minato, the vessel in which death was sealed, is the only one who can defeat her... at the cost of his own life.

the loss of the one person aigis had thought they could dedicate their existence to, the reason for their being sends them into a deep despair. the same is true of the rest of SEES. they were a family, after all. and it hurts so much, aigis thinks, they wish they could go back to how they were before they could hurt.

they don’t feel it, but something new rumbles in the ground beneath.

powers / abilities:

pallas athena. like the other members of SEES, aigis possesses a persona: a “tamed shadow”, one’s hidden psyche taken shape. this, along with aigis’ sentience, is made possible by the two plumes of dusk implanted within them—a “papillon heart”.

some of pallas athena’s capabilities include:

god’s hand. an immense physical blow, striking one opponent down with the fervor of the goddess of war herself. it saps aigis of their own health.

akasha arts. similar effects to the aforementioned, though it is directed to all enemies in the immediate vicinity.

megido fire. only utilized when orgia mode is activated, as a last resort. with this, aigis creates two spirals of fire to light their body aflame and then punches you really hard.

diarahan. a healing blessing cast upon an ally, restoring their vitality to its fullest.

buff skills. to be exact, masukukaja, marakukaja, and matarukaja—increasing nearby allies agility, defense, and offense respectively.

weakness to electricity. zio or electric skills, to be exact. or any electricity-based attacks!

evoker. created by the kirijo group, an evoker is the medium used to awaken personas in the dark hour. it is simply built into their body.

orgia mode. in disabling aigis’ limiter by overloading it, they are shifted into a state of pure power and instinct. after a short period of time, their circuits overheat and they are rendered immobile for a cooldown period.

items / weapons:

red ribbon. a gift from one of the first scientists to work with aigis, though she is long departed and no records of her remain. aigis has worn this on their person for as far back as they can recall, but as their memories of her were wiped, they do not know why.

Marwa’s death serves as reminider to Juniper why she became a better person and not to lose herself.

Father: Jalil Hasni

Juniper and Jalil have a very tense relationship due to the fact that Jalil left them to move back to Algeria when she was seven. She has never forgiven him for just abandoning her as they had a fairly good relationship before. Jalil for some reason really dotted on his daughter compared to his son. They stayed in contact and Jalil strictly monitor her education before starting Hogwarts. Juniper lessen their contact throughout the years only because she wanted to make sure that her mother was financially taken care of until she could start work and cut him off from their lives.

Mother: Julia Moss

Their relationship was built on a lot of misunderstanding and hurt to each other. Juniper stayed loyal to her mother because neither of them wanted to be alone after both Jalil and Jacob left. Julia fell into a deep depressive state to the point of being admitted to St Mungo where she just learned to be dependent on calming draughts and Juniper to help her. Juniper started to be mad at her mother for not being there for her and her emotional needs for her but was also afraid to leave her. When Julia started getting better she realized that she essentially neglected Juniper and tried to fix their relationship but she also held back by guilt but it was a little late. Juniper still loves her mum dearly to the point she stopped telling her anything about her so her mum doesn't have to worry which actually caused Julia to worry even more.

Brother: Jacob Khalil Hasni-Moss

Jacob was very overprotective and babied Juniper a lot. Juniper was never fully aware of what Jacob was going through due to being so young. While finding Jacob's room, Juniper found herself learning a lot and understanding Jacob but she hasn't fully gotten over Jacob leaving. When they reunited, Jacob quickly realized that Juniper isn't a little girl anymore and she has changed a lot. Unlike with her father or mother, Juniper is more open to rebuild their relationship which caused them to be closer than ever since now they are mentally at a similar age.

Adopted sister: Marwa

Juniper absolutely dotted and adored Marwa, she would move the sun and moon for her. She noticed that Marwa looked up to her which made Juniper realized that she has to be better role model for Marwa, so she changed a lot for her such as she stopped partaking in reckless behaviour, actually getting some proper sleep because for once on her life she started to try and implement a routine and make sure that Marwa has friends. Both Marwa and Juniper learned a lot from each other which helped them heal and become better people.

Relatives in America: Aileen, Theodore Jr, Lilianna, Harvey, Paige, and Clover Sweets

They are the closest thing to having cousins and they visit each other at least twice a year, taking turns. As Juniper was the baby of the lot, she struggled to have a close relationship as must were all adults already when she could form memories of them. As she got older, she did develope a friendship with Clover, who mainly gave her advice on how to stay out of trouble and Juniper loves joking about her old smut stories.

Her crush on Charlie developed slowly even since she first met him which was on the Quidditch field. They didn't interact but Charlie always noticed her since the sorting ceremony until they had CoMC classes together and they really hit it off. Juniper just felt at ease in his presences and they were very comfortable in each other's personal spaces which caused many to believe that they were a couple right if the bat.

When she found that Charlie wasn't interested in dating she took it as a sign to back off and dated Talbott instead. At this time, Charlie was oblivious to his feelings for her until 5th year but still remained in denial because he thought that Juniper wasn't interested since she was with Talbott but 6th year he accepted it. Both locked up their feelings which was hard to contain since they were constant in each other's life and it wasn't until (spoilers I guess) Marwa's death of her prompted Juniper to confess to Charlie.

Talbott Winger

Juniper had slight feelings of attraction to Talbott but she dated him to get over her feelings for Charlie and mainly more out of curiosity. Like dating for the sake of dating. She was surprised that he accepted and he too was curious since Juniper was one of the few close friends he had and felt comfortable around.

Their relationship went downhill quickly due to lack of communication and Juniper's busy schedule. They broke up in 5th year but got back together in 6th year after Alvina broke up with Talbott, as a rebound. They stayed together for 2 years post graduation with feelings for others, Juniper realized it was going nowhere so she ended things.

Story

Childhood:

Juniper was born in St Mungo but was raised in a wizarding village at the outskirts of Fife, Scotland with her mother, father and brother Jacob. All was well until 1980 when Jacob ended up being expelled from Hogwarts which caused their father to use that as an excuse to leave and move back to his home country, Algeria. Later that night, Jacob disappeared and the aurors did nothing to help them find Jacob resulting in Juniper's mum breakdown where she was sent to St Mungo. There her mother developed a dependency to calming draughts. Juniper was then left to look at her mum and her after household with the help of squib neighbor. But her troubles do not end there. The kids in the neighborhood bullied her slowly and she had only herself to depend on. Shortly before starting Hogwarts, Juniper became friends with Rowan in Diagon Alley.

Hogwarts:

You'll have to find bits and bobs I have scattered throughout but I'm also retconning the story a bit so it is in subject for some change.

Miscellaneous

Juniper had a hat stall between Ravenclaw and Slytherin; Ravenclaw for her valuing in knowledge, open-mindness for new things and obession to find Jacob. Slytherin for her from her from her from her ambitious nature from her from her from her and pechant to be cunning and using people. She was placed in Ravenclaw because her thoughts of her were filled with Jacob during the sorting ceremony.

She can speak, read and write in fluent French but can only speak and kinda read in Arabic.

Juniper has an interesting study technique; she picks up more information based on listening to her friends than reading books. So depending on the topic, she finds [insert] friend who's good at [insert] topic and gets them to talk to her from her to the death of her from her.

Most importantly; Juniper is a plant killer.

↳ A CLOSER LOOK:

(TW: Stillbirth) Despite not being biologically Al and Mint’s child, Juniper has never had any room to doubt whether they love her just as much as her siblings. She was spoiled almost even more than the others simply because of that. In reality, Juniper was born to Mint’s older sister, Pepper. The pregnancy was a difficult one, as is common and was somewhat expected when Pepper found out she was pregnant with twins. Right from the beginning it was obvious that something wasn’t completely right, but Pepper persevered and did everything she could to ensure that her babies would be okay. Their hearts were weak and their movements few and far in between, but Pepper was so positively sure that they could come through, even when she went into labor a month early. The twins were silent when they were born, but Juniper cried the second the doctor smacked her butt. Her twin.. Not so much. Distraught, Pepper refused to even look at Juniper, begging her husband to call her sister. Al and Mint weren’t entirely sure about bringing another child into their already-full family, but Mint could never have turned away an infant in need.

Junie was one of those children that developed their personality very quickly. Her family wasn’t even able to notice the change from reflexive to genuine smiles when she was a baby, what with how often they occurred. She was bubbly and cute, giggling and dancing regardless of whether there was anything to actually elicit the responses or not. Junie was the epitome of a clingy baby sister, wanting to be attached to the sides of her older siblings all day, every day. Every day that they went off to school caused her to cry and blubber into her cheerios or her mother’s chest, pouting all day until they came home, after which she would launch herself at them and refused to leave them alone. Although she eventually learned to stop smothering her siblings as she grew up, she never did stop loving them as fiercely as she always had.

Technology had always been something that Junie was interested in. One of the few things that would cheer her up after her siblings were gone was being able to jump onto the computer and play the Sims or RollerCoaster Tycoon. She was an avid gamer, even if being a “gamer” to her was just constantly playing anything and everything she could. This interest only continued to grow as she did and technology developed until, eventually, she took her first foray into programming when she was 12. It was just some simple script mods for the Sims 2, but messing around in the code fulfilled her almost as much as the games themselves did. She spiralled quickly into the world of programming and web design, fiddling with whatever she could–even going as far as to do some freelance hacking for people who’d forgotten the information to their accounts on whatever website, though no money was exchanged for such a simple action.

(TW: veeeery, very small, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it allusion to OCD) At eighteen, Junie made the difficult decision to move to Los Angeles to study programming with a minor in game design at the University of Southern California. She excelled in all of her classes, though the distance from everyone and everything she knew and loved in Virginia was difficult and lonely. When word trickled in that her family would be moving to Arkansas, Junie immediately began talking with her advisor on how she could finish her current classes as early as possible before switching to online classes. It wasn’t a difficult choice, though she did stop and wonder why the thought of her family moving without her, despite being literally across the US, made her panic so much; but she tries to ignore the incessant fear of being left out and, eventually, left behind. That is, after all, a job for her therapist.

personality:

sayaka is kind. effortlessly so. she’s also brash, impatient, impulsive and obstinate, but she’s mostly just kind. with a very strict belief in justice and desire to protect everyone, her worldview is both naive and startlingly self-aware. though she understands her peaceful, happy life is a privilege, it is not one she feels deserving of. sayaka sees most matters, particularly love and justice, through a black-and-white lens and stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the shades of grey that lie between. true love is entirely pure, true heroism is entirely selfless. in a happier, gentler world, sayaka would have been the quintessential heroine, a role model that all magical girls could aspire to be like.

but this isn’t that world.

to survive in this world, a “magical girl” must discard all of her ideals and principles to fight her way to the top of the food chain through battle and bloodshed—only to inevitably succumb to despair once she realizes her own life’s futility. this is the fate that awaits all magical girls, and sayaka is no different. in trying to be different from them, a standout who upholds justice and fights for the sake of others rather than preserving her own well-being, she only dooms herself further.

in the life she led before she contracted with kyubey, she was a tomboyish, clumsy girl who loved and yearned to be loved in return. a diligent worker and someone who would always be the first to reach out to another in need. sayaka is also someone who struggles with self-consciousness and looks to others for praise and reassurance, albeit in a very roundabout way. she holds herself to an impossibly high standard, demanding nothing but the utmost perfection, and quickly falls into depression and self-loathing when she notices her own faults. what frightened her the most about herself was realizing that the wish she had made was just as much of a selfish act as a selfless one, that she could not become the heroine of justice she had so hoped for.

history / background:

once an ordinary girl who walked the same way every weekday to school with her best friends madoka and hitomi, she soon discovers the world of “magical girls”. a magical girl is a young woman who contracts with a strange cat-like creature named kyubey—in exchange for asking one miracle to be granted, she will dedicate the rest of her life to fighting “witches”, the embodiment of evil and despair. after she and madoka save kyubey, she eventually agrees to making a contract to become a magical girl.

her wish is simply to restore the physical health of a boy named kyosuke kamijo, her childhood friend and crush. after being caught in an accident, any use of his hand was lost, preventing him from playing the violin—his life’s passion. after witnessing firsthand kyosuke’s anger and depression, she resolves to ask for a miracle for him. she becomes a magical girl, a role she initially accepts with happiness at finally having the power to protect the weak and deliver justice upon the evil.

in every single timeline where she becomes a magical girl, sayaka falls into the depths of despair and her soul gem becomes corrupted—and, in turn, she becomes a witch. it is an inevitability, an inescapable fate.

it is only thanks to madoka’s sacrifice in becoming the law of cycles that allows sayaka to peacefully pass on in the final timeline, after her soul gem breaks. from there, she becomes a part of the law of cycles and works together with madoka to oversee the world and the magical girls within it.

a lot happens and in an unexpected betrayal by homura, born out of a desire to remain with madoka, the law of cycles is split in two. another timeline is created, one where homura can remain with an oblivious madoka until the end of the world. although sayaka vaguely remembers what homura did, she finds that she quickly begins to forget what happened and her own place in the world. homura has become an unspeakable evil to madoka’s unknowable goodness, and sayaka has no idea how to stop her.

powers / abilities:

accelerated regeneration. due to the nature of her miracle being centered around healing, sakaya has incredible endurance and is able to self-heal at twice the rate an ordinary magical girl is. also, since her miracle involved the healing of another person and not just herself, she can use this ability on others.

hydrokinesis. she is able to manipulate and generate various forms of water at will, with her sword acting as a conduit, much like a conductor’s baton.

there’s like other stuff but i don’t know how to describe it.. i might come back to this later.

inherent abilities:

as part of her contract in becoming a magical girl, kyubey ripped her soul out of her body—effectively killing her body in the process. what keeps her “alive” is her soul gem, but should it be broken, corrupted or lost, the illusion will fall and her physical form will die. she is essentially a zombie puppet.

items / weapons:

soul gem. a small bauble where sayaka’s soul is held. it can transform into a ring she wears on her finger to appear less conspicuous, so she can bring it with her anywhere. this is what allows her to transform into a magical girl.

cutlass. a sword that she can summon at will. she can create multiple at a time.

you’d think that the extravagant lifestyle of an only daughter of a multimillion dollar fast food chain’s ceo would reflect negatively on one’s personality, but for haru, it couldn’t be further from the truth. she’s humble, patient and effortlessly kind—though she can be so quiet and aloof that you wouldn’t be able to guess. after experiencing so much undermining and exploitation because of her status, it can be a struggle for her to open up and trust others’ intentions. and because of her shy demeanor and lack of self-confidence, she sometimes finds it difficult to express her true feelings.

her strength is a quiet one, but her convictions and ideals are just as strong as any other of her friends, even if she can come across as a bit of a scatterbrain at times. she grew up watching cartoons about heroines of justice, aspiring to be just like them—and even if being a phantom thief isn’t quite the same thing, she’s no less committed to righting the many wrongs that run rampant in society. haru is exceedingly eager to prove herself as useful rather than a liability, owing to the persistent feeling of uselessness in which she often finds herself slipping into. she wants to be just as strong and stubborn as she is gentle and sweet.

history / background:

haru was not born into a life of privilege and luxury as the only daughter of kunikazu okumura, the third president of okumura foods and the founder of big bang burger. despite the fact that her grandfather was a decent and noble man, he failed as a businessman, and okumura foods was a failing company as a result. but she never minded, not as long as her father was there.

kunikazu okumura gradually changed as time passed. he became preoccupied with his own ambition and greed, and he lost interest in caring for his daughter. big bang burger evolved into a business that thrived solely on the backs of its overworked and underpaid workers, resulting in a series of scandals. haru watched on in resigned silence, believing herself unable to speak out due to her inferior status, but the situation soon escalated when okumura declared an arranged marriage for haru: one to the son of a prospective associate of his, an abusive man named sugimura.

after meeting morgana, a talking cat and a founding member of the phantom thieves of hearts—a group of teenagers dedicated to social reform—who had left after a disagreement with the group, haru accidentally accompanied him into the metaverse. an “other dimension” similar to reality that is built upon people’s cognition, and by pure coincidence, she followed him into her father’s palace. there, she partially awakens to her persona and chooses to join forces with morgana in the same manner as the phantom thieves to change her father’s heart.

morgana and haru are later encountered by the phantom thieves inside the palace, where he introduces her as the “beauty thief.” though the two initially challenge the phantom thieves to a race to claim kunikazu’s treasure first, they inadvertently walk into a room occupied by haru’s father’s cognitive henchmen, forcing both parties to flee. morgana and haru are lost in the midst of the chaos.

after school the next day, two members of the phantom thieves—akira and makoto—approach haru and ask her to join their ranks, but she declines. when haru and morgana are confronted by sugimura later in the day, the thieves come across them and rush to her rescue. sugimura is chased away, but haru is shaken up, and morgana begs the thieves to put his feud with them aside in order to give haru a place to stay. they return to akira’s place, where haru finally reveals the truth about the situation, as well as her engagement to sugimura. she eventually admits to herself that she wasn’t inspired to change her father’s heart out of any lofty ideal to free okumura foods’ employees, but rather to circumvent her arranged marriage. morgana makes amends with the thieves as well, and the group is reunited, with haru being made a member.

haru fully awakens to her persona early on during the palace infiltration, and the calling card is sent. all seems to be going according to plan, until kunikazu okumura holds a press conference to confess to his crimes, which the thieves are watching while celebrating. in the middle of speaking, he suffers from a mental shutdown, a condition in which the person affected dies for unknown causes, which haru is forced to see in real time. she runs home, but the consequences of a mental breakdown are serious and irreversible: okumura dies before reaching the hospital.

her feelings are complicated—rage and sorrow and bitterness—directed at the phantom thieves, the party at fault, but mostly herself. in spite of her self-doubt, haru continues to work with the group to clear their names, as they are being blamed by the public for the death of okumura. much happens in a short period of time—they briefly join forces with goro akechi in order to clear their names, only for him to betray them and expose the existence of a bizarre plot to kill them, led by an up-and-coming politician named masayoshi shido. the thieves infiltrate his palace and discover a shocking truth: not only was shido the one who carried out the mental shutdowns, using akechi as his attack dog, but okumura was actually targeted by him due to his bad connections and for creating competition in the political world. that was one of the unexplained scandals surrounding okumura foods—how competitors to the company would suddenly and conveniently die, leaving their companies in chaos and allowing okumura to expand his.

as horrible a man as her father had become until his assassination, haru could never forget the love and warmth he had shown her as a child. knowing that she’d never be able to find closure or even make amends with her father because of shido, she becomes more determined than ever to overthrow him from his throne.

powers / abilities:

LUCY. as a metaverse-user, haru has the ability to summon her persona when inside the metaverse at will. personas are described as “a manifestation of one’s will of rebellion” and usually take the form of mythological, fictional, religious or historical figures. hers is an imitation of milady de winter, a villainess from the three musketeers, and the woman who inspired her creation.

some of lucy’s capabilities include:

PSIO SKILLS. psychic attack magic, basically. it’s made particularly powerful when incorporated with inflicting mental ailments on an enemy.

GUN SKILLS. gun attacks. idk.
