If I had a penny for everytime a guy who played a total scumbag on D.P. co-stared in the same project with Lee Jae Wook, whose character is very obviously attracted to LJW's character and who also finds LJW really attractive in real life...
I would have two pennys.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

Movies watched in 2023
Ballerina (2023, South Korea)
Director & Writer: Lee Chung Hyun
Mini-review:
I'm a huge fan of Jeon Jong Seo and I enjoyed The Call very much, so I was really looking forward to Ballerina, her second collaboration with director Lee Chung Hyun. Thankfully, it didn't disappoint. It's sleek and visually stunning, and Jeon Jong Seo more than rises up to the challenge. She definitely has what it takes to be an action movie star. Tbh, the script and the story are much weaker and unoriginal than in The Call, but Lee Chung Hyun clearly knows how to direct the hell out of an action scene. Also, the movie is pretty short, so it goes straight to the point and it never gets boring. Anyway, I hope these two keep collaborating, cause so far they've been on fire together.
P.S. There's quite a lot of triggering content, and I recommend looking up some warnings before watching.

Finally having post-TOTNT 1938 thoughts and. I've grown so fond of Jaeyoo and Yeohee??? I am so glad the showrunners added them into the story. Yeo-hee was awesome she really was a star in every scene she's in and Jae-yoo was just the cutest I love him and his puppydog eyes. And his brotherhood with mi yeon and shin joo!Shinjoo and Sunwoo Eunho made me emotional like the underlying plot was absolutely heartwrenching. Of course, Moo yeong and Hong joo were super cool and I hope we'll get to see them again. AND the main characters Rang and Yeon!!! Every single scene with them kept my eyes glued to the screen like their brotherhood was everythinggg. The villains were also really good. This season was great I love you Tale of the Nine-tailed 1938

Dramas 2023
Just some of my thoughts for some of the dramas of 2023...
-KING THE LAND !!!!! The natural chemistry between the main leads is just so so soooo real that it makes it hard to believe that they're "just friends" in reality; However, at the same time it makes sense, as both Junho and Yoona have been in the entertainment industry and have known each other for a long time (2pm and SNSD go wayyyy back, IYKYK). I'm kind of surprised it took them this long to meet for a drama project, but as a fan of both 2pm and SNSD, I'm so glad to see them both working together again. There are so many funny moments in this drama and the added sound effects and acting make some of the scenes so funny. I also like the easter eggs added in the drama haha. Definitely a feel-good drama. I ship the main leads..!! They already know each other so well and they're also starting to look the same haha. -See You in My 19th Life This series is based on the webtoon, and the drama was surprisingly not bad. Ahn Bo Hyun and Shin Hye Sun both are great together, and I feel like recently Shin Hye Sun has been typecasted into these somewhat typical bold, fearless characters that are also seemingly reflective of her own personality but in this drama I was able to kind of see somewhat of a different side to her (hard to explain hahah). And Ahn Bo Hyun...he's very versatile as an actor. And finding out that he's now dating Jisoo of BP...super unexpected haha !! The drama itself is somehow comforting with all the characters meshing well together. Pleasant~~
-Celebrity Hmmmmm this one was great but something about the female lead I can't put my finger on.. While I do feel like her acting has improved over the years and I see that in some scenes of this drama as well, there were parts where it just seemed flat but I'm not sure if it's just how her character was written. The storyline itself was definitely interesting nonetheless, and I didn't have much expectations going into it, but it does touch upon the effects of social media in modern times and I liked the mystery/thriller type of vibe.
-D.P. Star-studded cast; haven't watched this yet but excited to pick up where they left off for season 1.
-The Real Has Come The cast is talented and there are strong characters in this drama and lots of twists and funny moments. It's light and funny, but there's 50 episodes so there are definitely times where it's a bit draggy but also that's typical of any family dramas. -Oasis Jang Dong Yoon!!! Hahaha I think the cast did a great job with their portrayals though I feel like Jang Dong Yoon just has such a baby-face and looks like he wouldn't hurt a fly but he looked so cool playing this role as Lee Doo Hak. I liked the old-fashioned style of this drama as it took place in the 80s-90s Korea, so it was really refreshing to see the type of fashion, dialects and overall atmosphere during that time through this drama, and think about how much has changed. There were parts of the drama that felt a little repetitive, but I think overall the cast made up for it. -Apple of My Eye (금이야, 옥이야) Typical family drama, a little predictable but expected haha.

CRASH COURSE IN ROMANCE
GENRES: Comedy, Romance
SUMMARY: What could the most popular private academy teacher in Gangnam and a no-nonsense banchan shop proprietor have in common? More than either of them ever bargained for.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Banchan (obvs), minimalist penthouses, lion documentaries, quaint blouses, insane tiger moms, handball memories, high school love triangles, pencil pouches, matricide, corruption, muderous metal balls, and regrets.
HOT TAKE: This is a much more nuanced show than the poster would make it seem. Each character contains earnest multitudes and watching them and their motivations play out was a joy to watch.
Is it weird to say that this show suffers from TOO MANY interesting characters? I wanted to know at least 30% more about all of them, but since there are only so many eps to go around, the mains got most of the story time.

Boxing
In the fic, you will see later that I have Rang teach Han Seo how to box. No, I didn't do that because Kwak Dong Yeon boxes too, but because I do kickboxing and am familiar with it. I only started around mid-April so I am not proficient at it, but my coach wants me to attend competitions and such. The sad thing is that I hurt my arm while I was practicing and for the past few months I had to use kinesiotape and braces to stabilize it. I need to go to the doctor again because it was supposed to have healed by now but it still hurts and irritates me at times. So yeah, another reason why the chapter is not ready to go up yet. But it is a long one, so I hope it makes up for the tardiness of its arrival when it does come.
This summer has been one of the most difficult for me by far. I am slowly getting into the adult world and I just spent my very first summer working and not spending it back at my parents' house where I used to live. As someone from the suburbs, spendind my summer in a big city was like living in hell, but that's life i guess.
I hope you are doing alright! Thank you for your patience! I'll try to have the chapter ready by the end of this month.

Crash Course into Romance. 8
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Crazy Love (kdrama) ; My Strange Hero (kdrama)
This drama was the talk of 2023 on Netflix. Was it a bit overhyped, meh…..a tad. Don’t get me wrong, the first half of the series is probably the best I’ve seen in a kdrama in a long time. At first it’s a simple romance story between two middle age characters with an other sub storyline of the hardships of how teenagers are pressured through school by their parents. It’s done brilliantly at first. Unfortunately it took a nosedive around episode nine and didn’t recover much. There is a murder mystery suspense plot that gets thrown into the mixed. It sorta jars the whole series getting quite predictable and very corny as it unfolds. The drama is still very watchable especially a must watch at least once, especially for Jung Kyung-ho who for me was the highlight throughout. His scenes with Jeon Do Yeon were perfect. And for Oh Eui Shik. Epic.
