The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk (Denmark), 01.03.24

Part 2/4 of the revival trip with some glimpses of what's inside of The Louisiana Museum. It was difficult to choose which pictures to post, everything is worth posting. In order :

One of the paintings from the Firelei Báez—Trust Memory over History exhibition. A vibrant and colorful artwork about colonial occupation and our contemporary societies.

Spider couple by Louise Bourgeois in this breathtaking room with a large window overlooking on nature . Louise Bourgeois was a French-American sculptor, known among other things for her impressive sculptures of spiders, symbols of her mother and motherhood. Her work is inspired by her childhood and its traumas, especially "her love for her mother and her anger at her father", quotes the museum.

Same sculpture at another angle. This room of the museum is probably the most popular on social medias.

One of the minimalist hallway of the museum. So peaceful thanks to the large windows making you feel like you are part of the landscape.

Another perfect place but outside of the museum, if I'm not mistaken. I don't know the name of it, but I stayed there a long time, enjoying the moment in this light room.

That are some highlights but there are so much more to see. The museum is known for welcoming an important collection of Giacometti.

和っぽいのを描きたかった。

左利き設定のキャラなんで着物の前身頃はだけさせてしまったのですが、弓道って左利きの方でも右で弦を引くんですね……やっちまった。実践だと違うのかもですが。

ちなみにどうでもいい話ですが、和裁も左利きでも右手で縫うよう指導されます。(和裁士時代の同期の子が左利きだった) 昔ながらの伝統ものは今でも右手でやる事が重視されてる感じなんですかね？

I wanted to draw something Japanese.

I made the front of the kimono bare because the character is set up to be left-handed, but it seems that in Kyudo, even left-handed people pull the string with their right hand …… I was beaten. The actual battle may be different.

By the way, it's not important, but Japanese dressmaking also instructs you to sew with your right hand even if you are left-handed. (One of my classmates from my days as a Japanese dressmaker was left-handed.) Maybe there is still an emphasis on doing traditional things with the right hand?

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk (Denmark), 01.03.24

Beginning of march 2024, I went to Copenhagen for a few days after intense months of journalism classes. This break was so welcomed and desired. I was craving alone time and travels. So, I went on a solo trip, again. It was my first time visiting a Scandinavian country. I heard only positive feedback about the Scandinavia and indeed I was not disappointed. I felt in love with Copenhagen, its architecture, art, and especially the way of life. Kind of reminded me of Japan but less crowded. Coming from Paris, I feel everyday a bit attacked by the incivility, the dirt, the loud people and many more. I definitely don't fit with the latin culture. But in Copenhagen, I felt peaceful. The general feel, was a sense of respect of personal space and slow pace. I can definitely see myself live there.

There was a specific place that I absolutely wanted to see first : The Louisiana Museum. Yes, it is the most beautiful museum that I ever visited. Which is why my pictures were mostly taken there. That place is the perfect balance between contemporary architecture and nature. Once again, it made me think about Japan. The fog was there during all my trip, which added to the landscape a mystical and kind of melancholic vibes to it.

The museum is located in Humlebæk, one hour by train from city center of Copenhagen. The journey in the train also was a pleasant experience :)
