CHRIST’S ASCENSION, HERALDS HIS RETURN, May 15, 2026

Christ’s disciples in the past fervently yearned to know the exact fulfillment of the time when the world would end (Matthew 24:3), which is on Christ’s Second coming.

MARK 13:3, 4

(3) And as he sat upon the MOUNT of OLIVES over against the TEMPLE, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,

(4) Tell us, WHEN shall these things be?… WHEN all these things shall be FULFILLED?

MARK 1:15 …The TIME is FULFILLED, and the KINGDOM of God is AT HAND: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Beforehand, as Christ’s disciples inquired concerning His kingdom, they were in the mount called Olivet.

Mount Olives and Jerusalem are the places where Christ typically journeyed to either preaching or praying.

LUKE 21:37, 38

(37) And in the day time he was teaching in the TEMPLE; and at night he went out, and abode in the MOUNT that is called the mount of OLIVES.

(38) And all the people came early in the morning to him in the TEMPLE, for to hear him.

LUKE 22:39 And he came out, and went… to the MOUNT of OLIVES; and his disciples also followed him.

JOHN 8:1, 2

(1) Jesus went unto the MOUNT of OLIVES.

(2) …in the morning he came again into the TEMPLE, and all the people came unto him… and taught them.

Biblically, Mount of Olives is being associated with the two olive trees, two prophets or two witnesses (Revelation 11:3-4, 10), which signifies the gospel of God’s kingdom (Matthew 24:14), notably His Second Advent.

Herewith, after Christ and his disciples had their Passover, they journeyed into the Mount of Olives, where Christ told them the exact place where they could find Him after His resurrection.

MATTHEW 26:30-32

(30) And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the MOUNT of OLIVES.

(31) …All ye shall be offended because of me this night… and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

(32) But after I am RISEN again, I will GO before you into GALILEE.

MATTHEW 28:7, 16

(7) …tell his disciples that he is RISEN from the dead… he GOETH before you into GALILEE; there shall ye see him: lo, I have TOLD you.

(16) Then the eleven disciples went away into GALILEE, into a MOUNTAIN where Jesus had APPOINTED them.

Thus, precisely after Christ was being resurrected, He was in the place where He had appointed, which is in the Mount of Olives in Galilee, and preached many infallible proofs for forty days, pertaining to the restoration of His kingdom (Acts 1:2-3).

Moreover, the disclosure of God’s set time has yet been withheld from His people in the past, but God assures His people in these last days that He will surely bestow the definite time of His return (Acts 1:6-8).

God declared unto His people on Mount of Olives, the appointed place of His ascension, that His Second Coming will be in like manner, which is on a Sabbath day (Acts 1:11, 12).

Therefore, God placed His appointed time of His return in the seventh day Sabbath.

EXODUS 20:8-11

6 – SIX days (verse 9)

7 – SEVENTH day (verse 10)

13 – SIX days, SEVENTH day (verse 11)

6 + 7 + 13 = 26

2,000 ��� SABBATH DAY’S journey (Acts 1:11-12, Joshua 3:3-4 & Numbers 35:5)

2,000 + 26 = 2026

Christ strongly upholds the observance of 2,000 cubits (Joshua 3:3-4, Numbers 35:5, Exodus 16:29), which is the allowed distance to travel on Sabbath, for His disciples have returned unto Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives on a Sabbath day’s journey (Acts 1:12).

The proper observance of the seventh day Sabbath has firmly been established by God even during the Time of Trouble or Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:20) and until Christ descends upon the Mount of Olives together with the saints on His Third Coming.

ZECHARIAH 14:1, 4-5

(1) Behold, the DAY of the LORD COMETH…

(4) And his feet shall stand in that DAY upon the MOUNT of OLIVES, which is before JERUSALEM…

(5) …and the LORD my God shall COME, and all the SAINTS with thee.
