04x16 - Save The Last Dance For Me
Jim and Alec are inside a van whilst June and Mike are 'casually' walking along a street after parking their car further down. Derek warns everyone to keep things quiet on the radio until they hear from June. Ted asks Derek if he's sure that they can trust his informant. Derek says she's been forced to allow escaped prisoner Bush and his girlfriend to use her flat as a meeting point so he doesn't see why they shouldn't. June and Mike enter a social center and head upstairs to the Irvine School Of Dance.
Uniform are on standby should Derek's operation kick off. They're sat in the canteen together to wait. Robin tries to order a soft drink but Yorkie refuses and says he'll have a cuppa like everyone else!
Dashers shows his warrant card to the dance school tutor and she invites them to talk through what's going to happen. They're observing a house just along from the dance school. It's the best vantage point so they have to continue even though there's a lesson booked. He and June ask her not to tell anyone else that the police are present, they're simply new students if anyone asks.
Uniform discusses escaped prisoner Bush. They think he'll be armed to the teeth to avoid having to go back inside. Viv watches as armed police come into the canteen with their weapons. Yorkie shrugs, Conway must mean business if he's asked them along. Pete removes a packet of cards from his locker but when Bob asks where he's been he simply insists he's been giving his shoes a brush over. "You can tell a lot about a man by his shoes." Pete's look new and unused....! Ahem.
June updates the officers outside and at the station about the room they're in being used for a dance class so suggests they maintain radio silence unless absolutely necessary. She'll give two clicks on the receiver when the girlfriend arrives and three when the target arrives. Alec hands the radio to Jim to listen out to whilst he has a kip, he's adamant that Bush won't make an appearance.
Tumblr media
Dashers worries that the cheek-to-cheek dancing is a bit erotic. June reckons she could have sewn a few thousand sequins to her leotard if she'd had more warning. Dashers reckons they should have gotten Bob Cryer involved given June's description of 'old time dancing'.
No one else thinks that Bush is going to show up. Derek asks Ted for his opinion and Ted summarises that a promise from 'crumpet' is a powerful thing, the common sense goes and you think about nothing else. "Would you fall for it?" "Hook line and sinker." Ted smirks. "But I'm not Terry Bush." June and Mike are observed by a rather awkward young man who arrives early. June only just manages to avoid him seeing her radio as she hides it in her bag.
Back at the canteen, Bob excuses himself to the Duty Sgt's office to get on with some work. Taffy realises it could be a prime opportunity for him to do some studying. "... If only I could be bothered." Viv wishes there was a TV in the canteen. "What about charades?" Robin asks with enthusiasm. "Don't tell me, a berk doing an impression of a berk! Do another one....." Yorkie snarks. "Three card brag, who's in?" asks Pete.
Tumblr media
More students are starting to appear, the awkward man is still obviously staring at June and Alec Peters is fast asleep and snoring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
June turns away and looks out the window. Bush's girlfriend is arriving. She has to get Dashers to distract the strange man from looking at her so she can press the radio discreetly. The man even tries to look around Dashers at June when he approaches him!
Viv suggests going to update Bob (he has a radio himself he must have heard?) Pete tells her it's a waste of time because Bush will only appear if he thinks it's 100 percent safe and then, once in the flat, they'll have at least 2 hours to make their approach on him. "As long as that?" Smirks Taffy. "He has been locked up for 7 years, Taff. That's a lot of passion to use up!" Pete suggests playing for money. These poor buggers haven't had the warning that Bob and Derek have not to play cards with Pete...!
The tutor demonstrates a step and Mike and June are on the edges watching and looking gobsmacked at the sight in front of them.
Tumblr media
"I think we've stepped into a time capsule..." June whispers.
The money is starting to add up on the table. Yorkie thinks he's got Pete where he wants him...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... unfortunately not. "New game, new enemies." Pete muses, collecting his winnings.
Alec is trying to pee but it's not working. Jim's constant attempts to get him to hurry up aren't exactly helping. Jim thinks he can spot something happening outside. He gets out and quietly runs over. "You've got into some bad ways since you got into CID, Carver!" Alec continues, unaware Jim isn't there.
Mr Awkward approaches June to ask her to dance. She tries to say she'd rather watch but gives in and follows him.
Alec finally finishes and goes to get in the van where he's surprised to see Jim has a little friend and that he's on the radio asking for a car to pick up his prisoner who has stolen lots of badges.
Tumblr media
June is dancing with Mr Awkward, which causes Mike to have to look out of the window to hide his smile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taffy now thinks he's got Pete. Viv says she doesn't know but Robin presses Taffy to keep going. Taffy produces a note from his pocket to 'see' Pete. Taffy does beat him... but Bob makes his presence known before he can collect his winnings. He bollocks them for gambling on work time and puts the winnings in the poor box, sending Pete and Taffy out to collect Jim's prisoner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ted asks Derek when the last time he was out on an OBBO was but he doesn't answer. Derek is antsy and asks Ted if he'd walk up to the front door. Ted suggests if he's driving he'd probably check the area out several times but he doesn't know what he'd do if he's on foot. Ted asks Derek if he'd ever spent time in CID when based at The Yard when he complains about how long it's taking. Derek says yes, Ted asks if that was based in administration. "... Some of the time," Derek adds with a scowl. Ted's reaction makes me laugh. It's so knowing!
Tumblr media
June spots Bush's girlfriend scoping out the street. "We're not the only ones getting impatient..." she sighs, before spotting a woman approaching Mike. "... Your turn, I believe."
Tumblr media
Taffy reckons Bob was out of order taking the money from them and says his wife, Mary, won't be happy when she realises he's lost £25 for nothing. "Ask for some more pocket money!" Pete laughs before promising a chance to get even.
Ted has to stop Derek from pressing the radio and calling for updates. He reminds him that June and Mike are in charge of transmissions as they're the ones watching out and he shouldn't out them.
Mike's dance partner tells him her kids are away and she gets bored and that's why she's there. She thinks he's quiet and he covers with telling her his girlfriend doesn't like him talking to other women.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pete asks their prisoner how much money he has on him as though he'd let him go for it if it's enough. Taffy is horrified so Pete covers that he was only winding him up.
A man bursts into the dance class and makes a beeline for Mike and his partner, punching Mike and then laying into him! He's the husband of her partner and he's accusing her of cheating on him. June tries to help but she's thrown off him. In his assault on Mike, he sees the gun Mike has inside his jacket and takes it off him before aiming it at him.
Tumblr media
He shouts that he wants his kids back and it appears they've been taken into care because of his temper. The music is turned off and just in perfect timing, Derek calls June on the radio for an update. The man is even more furious that she was dancing with a policeman and blames him for taking his kids away. Luckily the gun doesn't fire when he tries to do so and Mike manages to overpower him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the arrest - Mr Strange leaps on him too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mr Strange asks how Mike was so lucky for the gun to misfire and Mike explains he never loads until he needs to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"June if you can't transmit for any reason, press the transmit button on your radio...." Derek says.
June glares out the window and drops the radio into her bag to return to Mike. "You shouldn't have done that. Ackland and Dashwood are the ones on the spot." Ted says calmly before settling back more comfortably in his seat for a long wait!

“Thai Cave Rescue”
The A.V. Club
Tumblr media
There’s something about a kid in a well.
Even if you don’t have registered memory of the 1987 “Baby Jessica” ordeal — with endless CNN coverage, commentary from President Reagan, a Pulitzer for photography for the rescue coverage, an ABC movie starring Beau Bridges, the Regis and Kathie Lee interview — somebody has likely harkened the spirit of the Texas tale at some point in your life. Some caretaker, believing in the motivating factor of fear, maybe, using the story to caution on the perils of carelessness, the nefarious threat of nature, the ubiquitous presence of terrestrial body-swallowing vacuums lurking in the tall grass.
Irresistible as a narrative, the trope is a very literal projection of Kurt Vonnegut’s infamous “Man in Hole” story type. Somebody gets in trouble, gets out of it, and ends up better than before. “You see this story again and again. People love it, and it is not copyrighted,” said Vonnegut. And if there’s something about a kid in a well, well, who could resist 13 (13!) young ‘un’s stuck in a cave for 18 (18!) days?
Which speaks to why the years since the July 2018 rescue of 12 teenage boys and their soccer coach from the flooded limestone Tham Luang cave in Thailand have seen a barely countable number of screen projects. The Cave led the theatrical way in 2019, giving focus to rescue diver Jim Warny, who played himself. Last year came a Nat Geo documentary called The Rescue, which used body-cam footage of divers. Ron Howard gave the story a Hollywood treatment, fronting Viggo Mortensen and Colin Farrell in the Australian-shot 13 Lives, recently out on Amazon Prime. At least two other studio projects have been announced and, so far, unfulfilled. In the meantime, a re-edited version of The Cave has been cut for digital release as Cave Rescue.
Got all that? As Al Ruddy, producer of The Godfather, said on a recent episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, “every movie is a movie.” When the movie is made about the makings of the big and small screen efforts of this miraculous story of survival and heroism, Netflix’s unfortunately-titled Thai Cave Rescue will at least be able to tout its authenticity as having both a Thai director and exclusive access to both the cave and to the boys themselves.
Though it is most probable that all tellings straight wash each other out, here is a story about defying odds.
This limited series version of Rescue opens with a world-is-watching spectacle: a slow motion montage, barrel-chested men with beards and without shirts carrying ropes and flippers and oxygen tanks as Times Squarers and pub-goers the world over watch on screens like it’s a bated-breath rocket launch. String-swelling unification aims at the pathos of the moments before a sports movie’s big match, or like a Sunday Night football game featuring the Patriots or some irredeemable evil that humanity can collectively root against. Of course, if you follow these things, kid-in-well stories almost never end well. (One of the rescuers of baby Jessica died by suicide after suffering from PTSD. And that one did end well).
Eventually we are set back and plopped into the jungles, and into the rain, and to the exotic backdrop of “Northernmost Thailand,” on the border of Myanmar, ramshackle and lush, with leafy vegetation and operatic mountain ranges spiking forever against eerie myst. Vaguely Eastern-isn music sets the vibe, as we are introduced to a myriad cast of precocious, maybe-bummed, half-hopeful teens and their unflappable coach, Eak. The gaggle of impish buddies each get their own introduction, character ticks and background stories briefly plotted, as a terrifyingly obnoxious title card counts down the hours until shit hits the fan, monsoons fill the cave. It feels vaguely like a more doomed Stand By Me, or maybe Stranger Things, with teen and pre-teen pals — the so-called Wild Boars — inextricably linked on a journey of self-discovery, triumph over adversity. Or, in this case, a journey of not starving, somehow not despairing, and waiting around while someone figures out how they might not die.
There is much backstory to compose and juxtapose, and so we are bounced around.
An instantly-summoned amateur cave explorer, making for a convenient narrative device, knows an almost suspicious amount about the caves, how rain gathers therein, how to talk convincingly in a Michael Caine accent over charts while leading a command team with wit and metaphor. There is a park ranger, who cares, a Ministry of the Interior, who does not care. An intern named Noon at the meteorological center is not taken seriously because she’s a woman, while her piggish boss is distracted by soccer and handicapped by a fear of authority. Eventually we get the local Governor, a seeming father of the situation more than a hero, gentle-eyed and honest. “I believe more in science than faith,” he says often, softly conjuring sympathetic images of “our boys,” with occasional breaks for quarter-baked halftime speeches, as needed. Highly specialized cave divers are summoned from around the globe, as are Thai Navy Seals, and the U.S. military, for support, and baseball-hatted bravado. A hydraulic engineer appears, with brows furrowed and measurements already taken.
The hours tick, in an echo of the nature-gives-zero-fucks predicament porn of 127 Hours or Open Water. You know how it ends up, or at least have an idea. But by the middle of episode two they’ve already been underground for one week, and after some fart jokes, tries at song (“anything but Maroon 5!”), and half-efforts to dig, there is not much for the boys to do but wait, be sad. Eak is certainly a hero, keeping the group tight and calm, but one mild and meditative, without much options for action. With our protagonists stuck, there’s a quickly disintegrating point of view, little hold to a grounded storytelling center. Such is the way when most of the heroes are secondary characters, when much of the action is inaction, when the real moves of a thrilling story are actually sprinkled around the edges of centerstage. A bevy of parallel rescue efforts happening outside don’t have much in common or any great velocity on their own. And it begins to feel a bit like watching Alive, with snow replaced by limestone, survivor’s grit replaced by ennui, without any of the grisly payoff of cannibalism.
Questions of spirit turn to a race-against-the-clock puzzle piece. “We need a new rescue plan,” it seems the Governor is saying every 15 minutes. And plan they do, vacillating between bad and worse choices: teaching the kids scuba diving once they are found, drilling them out by alternative route, waiting months until the end of the monsoon season dries the caves. Viewers begin to learn, obliquely, about hydrology and soundquakes, we get glimpses of drills, then obscenely phallic sci-fi-leaning drills, there is something called a dragon pump, something called an aquifer. There are big rulers and weather charts and much talk of the water table. Between this are the life platitudes: “The most important duty of family is to love each other,” “sometimes we get to choose family,” guilt over bad goodbyes, reminders that “families are complicated.” Scientists get rained on, have epiphanies, they splash water in frustration, they go back to the drawing board. Families hold vigil, try to appease the Gods, they write letters that are curried by divers, they get rained on.
For as much as it can seem interesting and tense, the six-hour treatment begins to feel stagnant and bogged, like one of those coffee-ringed New Yorker articles that sits open on your desk for weeks, too long and too tangential, but with enough of a feeling of investment to slog on, if only because finishing it will give you enough anecdotal ammunition to feel interesting at your next cocktail hour. And interesting a viewer will be, because the facts of the story boggle logistical sense. Which is why in the end the entire enterprise of production, of all the productions rolled together, seems a bit ostentatious—here, at least, true life would more than suffice even a Vonnegut storytelling impulse.
As a type of inverse of a sports movie, with an impossibly-distanced finish line, it actually seems borderline cruel. Almost to the point of necessitating a parent trigger warning: watching the children’s guardians go from concern to dread to frenzy to despair is a grueling churn. “Night must come back for his cake,” says one mother, planning her son’s birthday for that very day. A gut punch of a line, it is also easy to wonder: why the melodrama, plushed and padded and stretched and string-scored? There’s a guilt-ridden privilege to watching from the couch, late at night, with a glimpse at a baby monitor to see some kids sleeping safe and dry and sound.
As we swim half-blind toward the conclusion that is promised right in the title of the show, it is natural to hope for nothing but less drama, less dramatization, less exposure and exploitation of their terrible and then improbable good luck. Though on this project the Wild Boars were actually compensated, through the Thai Film Board, for their story rights, it seems far deeper to wish, for the boys and everyone around them, something closer to normalcy and remove. It’s not a desire of conclusion or release, but rather an end, so that they can simply get on with more days of sunshine and fresh air.

Tanpa Syarat
"Ooh, bukan apa-apa, Bro.
Padahal, berapa sih harga kran?" Tahsin mengeluarkan unek-uneknya.
"Oooh, maksudmu kenapa saldo kas banyak, tapi nggak dipakai untuk mengganti yang anggarannya nggak butuh banyak keluar uang gitu, ya?"
"Betul, Sob."
               Tahsin mengangguk mulai mengerti ceritanya.
Tahsin tiba-tiba merasa takjub. Tidak menyangka sama sekali.
“Memang benar setiap jum’at, kas masjid ini selalu dilaporkan saldonya puluhan juta.
Jim menjeda ceritanya sejenak. “Tapi, berkahnya Masya Allah, setiap jum’at malam selalu saja masuk lagi infak baru ke rekening Masjid ataupun di antar langsung ke rumah DKM. Makanya jangan heran kalau setiap jum’at yang dilaporkan saldo kas masih puluhan juta.”
Jum’at ke Jum’at pesan taqwa itu menjadi pengingat kita semua.

Jimin memutar kepalanya menatapku heran, "Pengakuan? Pengakuan seperti apa?"

Blocked on social media and concerned for his son’s life, Chuck impersonates a waitress online and starts checking in with Franklin. The Most Dangerous Game
The Most Dangerous Game, the new movie from Justin Lee, is out today.
A father and son are shipwrecked on a remote island where they are caught up in a trophy hunt held by its mysterious owner, a merciless man who uses the land as an elite hunting preserve for stalking the most dangerous game of all: human.

Tijili Benoa: Colorful Hotel where Happiness Happens!
Tumblr media
Bahagia!
Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.
- Jim Rhone
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
What a Nice view!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lovely lobby. Love al the details!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suasana sunrise sekitar pukul 5.30 pagi
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unik sekali! Jangan lupa berfoto disini ya!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kamar yang minimalis, bersih, dan nyaman
Untuk kamar, Tijili Benoa menawarkan empat jenis kamar, yaitu 41 Deluxe Rooms, 148 Deluxe Couryard Rooms, 57 Deluxe Balcony Rooms, dan 24 Deluxe Sea View Rooms.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Recommended hotel for kids and family!
Happy vacation, happy smart traveling* as always ya!

Titik Puncak
Semesta, 2 Mei 2017
