This series was commissioned in 1641 by prince elector Maximilan I. of Bavaria for the dining room in Old Schleißheim Palace close to the town of Munich. The paintings can nowadays be seen in some of the gallery rooms in New Schleißheim Palace.

George Geldorp, Georg Geldorp or Jorge Geldorp (1580/1595, Cologne – 4 November 1665, London) was a Flemish painter who was mainly active in England where he was known for his portraits and history paintings. He was also active as an art dealer and impresario.
Geldorp was the son of the Flemish portrait painter Gortzius Geldorp who lived and worked in Cologne. Geldorp first trained and worked as a painter in Cologne before being admitted as a Master in the Guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp in 1610. Two years later his first wife Margriet Parmentiers died in Antwerp.
In 1623, Geldorp moved to London where he painted a number of portraits in the Anglo-Netherlandish style, notably of William Cecil, 2nd Earl of Salisbury and his wife Catherine in 1626 (Hatfield House, Hertfordshire) and of Sir Arthur Ingram in late 1638/early 1639.
He was involved in organizing commissions in England for Flemish and Dutch artists including Rubens, Anthony van Dyck and Peter Lely. Upon the Restoration, he assisted with the reconstitution of the art collection and possessions of the English Royal family and was rewarded for his services with the post of picture mender and cleaner to the King.

Geldorp rented a house in Orchard Street from Lawrence Swettnam between 1643 and 1649. He undertook to paint for Swettnam "two good picture to life yearly". The Westminster house was previously occupied by the painters Alexander Keirincx and Cornelis van Poelenburgh.
George Geldorp was a portrait specialist. His portraits are regarded as less accomplished and more stiffly articulated than those of contemporary painters active in London such as Daniel Mijtens. The surfaces of his paintings are decorative. The background of the Portrait of William Cecil, 2nd Earl of Salisbury contains an historically important view of Hatfield House with sportsmen in the foreground.
Geldorp was also active as a collaborator and copyist of Anthony van Dyck and later Peter Lely.
The Dutch biographer Arnold Houbraken reported that Geldorp was known to the artist biographer Joachim von Sandrart. Von Sandrart had written that Geldorp was not a very accomplished draughtsman and had the habit of tracing other's sketches, and then pricking holes in these sketches, and sponging this onto the canvas as a guide to paint his subjects. Houbraken disapproved of this practise and wrote that he preferred to write about painters who were good draughtsmen.

La joven emerge del fondo marrón del cuadro sosteniendo con su mano derecha un ramo de flores primaverales, compuesto por rosas, violetas y jazmines; está vestida a la antigua usanza, con una blusa blanca que se desliza sobre el hombro derecho dejando al descubierto sus senos, mientras reclina suavemente la cabeza sobre el hombro izquierdo, volviendo la mirada fuera del espacio pintado. Su rostro, de rasgos muy delicados, se corresponde perfectamente con los cánones de belleza del Renacimiento del siglo XVI: piel pálida y luminosa, mejillas rosadas, y el rostro enmarcado por una larga melena suelta de color rubio cobrizo, color típico del pelo de las mujeres retratadas por Tiziano (de ahí el término “Tiziano rojo”). La identificación del sujeto como "Flora", la ninfa esposa de Céfiro de origen griego cuyas hazañas narra Ovidio, se remonta a Joachim von Sandrart, historiógrafo holandés, que hacia 1635 vio la obra en la colección de don Alfonso López. , embajador de España en Amsterdam. Vendido por este ��ltimo al archiduque Leopoldo Guillermo de Habsburgo, el lienzo llegó a Florencia en 1793 como parte del intercambio de obras de arte entre la Galería Imperial Belvedere de Viena y los grandes duques de Toscana. La celebridad de esta imagen queda demostrada por los numerosos grabados realizados a partir del siglo XVI. El cuadro se enmarca en la línea de investigación sobre la imagen de la belleza femenina abierta a principios de siglo por "Laura" de Giorgione fechada en 1506 en el Kunsthistorisches Museum de Viena. Como las demás representaciones de mujeres de especial atractivo y sensualidad que constituyen el subgénero de la pintura nacida en la laguna y denominada "Belle", la imagen no alude unívocamente a Flora, la animadora de las fiestas licenciosas de la antigüedad romana, sino a Belleza femenina capaz de combinar pudor y voluptas.

NATO has enhanced its presence in the eastern part of the Alliance, with four multinational battlegroups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. These battlegroups, led by the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and the United States respectively, are multinational, and combat-ready, demonstrating the strength of the transatlantic bond.
Their presence makes clear that an attack on one Ally will be considered an attack on the whole Alliance. NATO's battlegroups form part of the biggest reinforcement of NATO's collective defence in a generation.
SZCZECIN, Poland – On April 26-27, Lieutenant General Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart, Commander Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE), visited Estonia. While in Tallinn and Tapa, he met with the Estonian Division's leadership and NATO's Allies and Partners. The establishment of a new divisional structure within the Estonian Army will bolster capabilities ofthe Estonian Defence Forces and MNC NE.
The Estonian Division was established in December 2022. Subordinated to Estonia's Chief of Defence (CHoD), it is the largest land force unit in the Estonian Defence Forces (EDF). As agreed at the NATO Madrid Summit, the Division can be assigned to the NATO chain of command at any time by order of the CHoD. Such a decision was made, and the Division has been transferred to Multinational Corps Northeast. 
I am confident that this structure will further enhance MNC NE’s combat capability and strengthen our Alliance more than ever before. We are opening a new chapter in the history of land power in the Baltic Sea region,
said Lieutenant General Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart, Commander MNC NE, during his visit to the Division's headquarters in Tallinn. As a warfighting unit, the Estonian Division executes military operations in its area of responsibility encompassing the territory of Estonia. It comprises the Estonian Army's 1st and 2nd Infantry Brigades reinforced by supporting units — logistic, signal and artillery battalions. The Division is capable of integrating additional troops, including those of the NATO Allies.
