Years ago these was some kind of tagging game about pics of your celebrity 'crushes' (is there a better word to use?) Let's say- eight different people
8 of my celebrity crushes 🌿
(edited because it's much better like this)
1. Sir McCartney
... To say he changed my life is not enough; he took me into another universe and OH GOD I OWE HIM EVERYTHING 🛐 A M È N
Tumblr media
2. Gillan
... without him no prog, no fusion, no metal. He got me into many genres I didn't know they exist!! Honestly, how could I survive these difficult years 2022 and 2023 without him. Mwah also to the other Purps
Tumblr media
3. Hammill
... actually I'm a sucker for his voice more than him as a human but it's a grower without any doubt.
Tumblr media
4. Gallagher
... purest human being in the whole rock and roll business.
Tumblr media
5. Page
... no description needed
Tumblr media
6. John Lawton
... definitely the first one I think of to brighten up someone's day. The Humphrie image!! Just as good as Ronnie James Dio. It's so fun to stalk him. Rest in peace man.
Tumblr media
7. Glover
... to call him a crush is a crime, but, to exclude him in this list too. And because he's Welsh
Plus the whole Yes band minus Rick Wakeman :0
8. Carl Palmer
... my little meow meow 😻

Punky Sinfo (Progs).

Review: "Body Bags"
Review: “Body Bags”
High camp with a surprisingly low body count, this John Carpenter/Tobe Hooper collaboration is a bit of a mixed bag. (more…)

The Life of Chuck: Mike Flanagan’s Latest Stephen King Adaptation Starts Filming Oct 16, 2023
Filming for Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s story The Life of Chuck is set to begin this month.
Gulf Coast Media published a piece about the call for 1000 extras aged 11 and up on the Flanagan movie, and notes it is to begin filming on October 16, 2023.
The Life of Chuck will be filmed in various locations around Alabama’s Baldwin and Mobile counties, with a large bulk of the extras needed for ”two large crowd scenes”. The shoot is set to take around four weeks.
It will be the third King adaptation from Flanagan after 2017’s Gerald’s Game and The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep in 2019. Flanagan is also overseeing a movie and television adaptation of King’s staggeringly large opus, The Dark Tower.
The Life of Chuck is a Stephen King tale with three separate stories linked to tell the biography of the supposedly ordinary man Charles Krantz in reverse. It begins with his death from a brain tumor at 39 and ends with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.
Flanagan has already cast Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hammil for the movie as Chuck and Albie, respectively.
The story was first published as part of If It Bleeds, a collection of novellas first appearing in 2020. The movie is the second based on a story from it. Mr. Harrigan’s Phone was adapted by writer/director John Lee Hancock in 2021 and released on Netflix.
Mike Flanagan is one of horror’s hottest properties with successful Netflix shows such as Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House. His latest series, The Fall of the House of Usher (which stars The Life of Chuck’s Hammil) is set to be his last with Netflix.

a few are left out on purpose because they would win by a landslide (kate bush) or they're not considered "great" vocalists to begin with (david gilmour, roger waters, ian anderson). these are the ones that people talk about as being "the best"

I was tagged by the wonderful @monkberryfields to let my spotify predict my 2024 by shuffling my on repeat playlist!
Skipping January since it’s already over (sadly)
I decided to use a personal playlist of mine which contains tracks that I feel perfectly define me
February - Crocodile Rock by Elton John (love it! also, i’ve been on an Elton kick lately so this is very fitting)
March - A-Punk by Vampire Weekend (am i to expect a very indie march then?)
April - Icky Thump by The White Stripes (just in time for Coachella 2024 babyyy)
May - Bron-Y-Aur Stomp by Led Zeppelin (the perfect begging of summer song)
June - Babe I’m Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin (WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! no i ain’t leaving him. never ever. he’s perfect)
July - YYZ by Rush (perhaps a trip to Toronto?)
August - New Kid in Town by The Eagles (the perfect summer song)
September - Hotel California by The Eagles (a song about home <3)
October - Take Me to Church by Hozier (i can actually see this being an October song lol)
November - Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John
December - I Don’t Wanna Know by Julian Lennon
tagging: @coolerthansnow @hammill-goes-fogwalking @milkyway-ashes @fancycolours @burn-on-the-flame @freezerfreys @veryfancydoilies @lock-my-feelings-in-a-jar @heybulldogs and whoever else wants to do it!

So I was listening to someone talk about Idris Elba vs Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk tonight...
by Faint_Kitten
Was watching LordBalvin on twitch play Cyberpunk 2077 and he made the comment that Idris Elba might be turning in the best performance in the game, and while saying he had no problem with Reeves performance me and a couple others in chat agreed there was something not quite right about Keanu being cast in Cyberpunk. I think I put my finger on it.
I say this as someone who recently discovered I was autistic, and struggle to convey what I'm feeling through my tone of voice: Keanu has kind of one speed, vocally.
Like emotionally his voice doesn't seem to convey a lot as an actor, he's kind of got this whispering surfer dude voice. Which is fine when he's confused as Neo and people are info dumping on him, and he just has to pose and do fight scenes. It's fine when he's trying to be mysterious or a badass know it all as Constantine, or when he's trying to be a badass as John Wick, but with the perf cap there's always a sort of robotic nature to performances in games because like…people can't touch things. And (a lot of people don't know this) studios go back in and RE-ANIMATE a stuff by hand ALL the time for cut scenes. Some actors aren't physically proportioned to their characters (things get slightly stylized all the time) and as a result Performance Capture in video games can be a little...stiff. Watch Christopher Judge at the begining of Ragnarock when he's in the cave: he's stroking the bag that held his wifes ashes andyou can kind oftell he's not touching anything. Maybe it's because he's not physically holding anything, maybe it's because they also got to big up his hands in after it's captured to "scale" him to Krato's proportions (kratos got big hands). So performances tend to get a bit disconnected? Robotic? There's this weird not QUITE uncanny valley thing where people have to be both stiff, and try to be expressive, and ontop of that, even when you Performance capture, Animators have to go BACK IN and adjust the performance, expresions are re-animated by hand. Which they don't do a lot of? You see Jeremy davis as Baulder, and he does odd flailing things with his arms and I can never tell if it's the actors trying to give the performance more life, or what but you'll see a lot of odd, finger spread arm waving as actors try to inject energy or movement into their performances that doesn't quite translate from the IRL performance to their animated counter part. So motion capture in games is...as I said. A bit stiff and janky sometimes. And again, motion capture isn't a one and done, animators and vfx people still go in and manipulate the character's face afterward to get the right expressions all the time.
People in cyberpunk, are well designed they're textured gorgeous, but their faces don't express any more emotion than Outerworlds or Fallout 4. I think, I feel like, actors who rely on their face struggle in voice acting. Especially if they're not LOOKING at anyone.
Look at Mark Hammil, bro gets up and throws his hands around playing the joker. So the energy comes out. Actors like Reeves and Peter Dinklage and Ryan Gosling sort of rely on subtle movements, and long quiet pauses like 90% of Ryan Gosling's acting is him not saying SHIT. Watch Drive, watch Blade Runner again, a lot of his acting is just STARING. Hiring him for a game would be a terrible idea.
When you combine this sort of robotic animation Cyberpunk has, with Keanu's natural voice... You don't quite get Peter dinklage, or Megan Fox, but it's still not quite right? I don't know if it was a good fit for him? A good avenue? It's so fucking close, but he doesn't quite pull it together? A smirk, or a cute face helps sell what Reeves does when he's acting in films, and he doesn't get that. So he has to be this sort of big bombastic dude he isn't? So it just seems like he doesn't fit. Maybe Reeves makes sense as Johnny in live action? But in game I don't think so.
By the same token, I don't know who the fuck you get to play this role. I can't see anyone but him in it now.
