The Nun movie review (Revisited): Another live review of The Nun. Literally my least favorite movie of all of The Conjuring movies. Anyway, on to the show. The Nun's introductory sequence was pretty lackluster. The key seems a bit over-excessive in terms of design. The reveal seem unnecessary as well due to fans already know what the Nun supposed to look like. Also, why did she not just close the door? Otherwise, there is a pretty decent comedic relief after the duo reach Romania. I could not really stop myself from laughing on how well that scene was executed. The dead nun hanging herself was a good scare, but why would they follow up with an unnecessary scare. It was definitely pointless, they could have added into the ominous environment, yet they continued it with a pointless scare. The Nun was hyped since The Conjuring 2, but it has been the least creative movie other than the cinematography. Not going to lie, Valak yells too much, which brings me to my next point. The movie relies heavily on the audio to create the jumpscare which is not what should be. The main room of the abbey seems to excessive and a bit of a try hard. The exposition was...umm... Too much? Kind of did not like how they tried to explain how Valak got into the world. They seem to be trying too hard. So far the only thing I find interesting about this movie is that Taissa Farmiga looks a lot like Vera Farmiga (yes, I know they are sisters). Let's talk about the pacing. It is literally all over the place. It is either too fast or way too slow. There were way too many plot devices explained way too early. How convenient that the Blood of Christ is within the confines of the location and a statue of Mary is pointing at it. What a final confrontation. Pulling off the classic Triple H spit. Lastly and unfortunately, they managed to tie the movie into the better movie, The Conjuring. The Nun (2018) - When a nun, at a convent in Romania, commits suicide. A troubled priest and a postulant nun visit to investigate the circumstances that lead her to take her life. While there they discover that this convent has an evil spirit that takes the form of a nun. A nice entry into the horror catalogue, ticks the usual boxes for a horror. Spooky woods ☑️, creepy old building ☑️, slightly predictable jump scares ☑️, deep bass music/sounds ☑️. Having said all that, I really enjoyed the film. It was very moody and well shot. The acting was very good as well, especially Taissa Farmiga as the protagonist. Whether you jump easily or nothing phases you, this is definitely an exciting film to watch, seeing it at IMAX if you can, it is worth the extra money.

The Nun — Movie Review + Recommendation Rating

Hey! My name is Jasmynn 👋🏽😄

Okay y’all. So I’m an avid horror movie watcher. Meaning I critique EVERYTHING from the acting down to the lighting and everything in between.

THIS MOVIE IS A MASTERPIECE. Yes I had to shout that. I’ve seen literally almost every movie directed by James Wan and this was a whole new level.

I mean there’s not a single moment when you’re not on the edge of your seat. The storyline was interesting. The music was drawing you in albeit scaring the heck out of you. The camera angles were perfect. The suspense was CRAZY! This is probably the only movie where I could not predict what was going to happen, outside of “something scary is coming” 😂😭

I don’t think I left that theater with any questions. Which is good since this was the answer to most questions Lol.

My recommendation: I HIGHLY recommend seeing this movie if you haven’t already.
