Decided to give you guys a preview of what I have planned for the upcoming Curse of Darkness comics. You might notice that this preview comic looks a lot different then what I did before but I am expanding my artistic horizons! They're all going to look like this! A great improvement I say!

Every girl in Castlevania are stong in their own way despite how the games potrays them:
Sara sacrifice herself for Leon in order to complete the Whip of Alchemy.
Lisa sacifice since she believed that her death can save others.
Sypha fought against the cyclop by herself before she was turned into a statue and later helped Trevor in his journey against Dracula.
Julia ran in hidding to save herself from persecution of witch trials.
Annette was prepared to take her own life if she became a vampire.
Maria who fought alongside with Richter when she was just a child.
Shanoa used power of glyphs against Dracula by herself.
Charlotte fought alongside with Joanathan during the events of WWII.

Me: I have complicated feelings about Hector/Julia as a romantic couple. They have a warm, wholesome chemistry: the two banter with ease but kindness, and they can relate to each other's plight; they understand each other like no one else can, which is particularly important to Hector who has always felt on the edge of the human world. They both grieve Isaac, and they both knew human cruelty but chose to be kind: they can be there for each other. Hector being painfully honest while Julia prefers to keep her cards close to her chest also makes for a good contrast. However, it is impossible to ignore the uncomfortable undercurrents of their situation if they keep living together. Hector has yet to unpack his grief for Rosaly that led him to be corrupted by the Curse, and Julia's appearance would be a stark reminder that the innocent woman who first loved like a human being died at the hands of her brother; overall, it awfully looks like Hector is coping in an unhealthy way by projecting his feelings for Rosaly onto Julia merely for looking alike, and that is not mentioning any lingering sense of guilt for what happened with Isaac. Meanwhile, Julia asked Hector to kill Isaac only as a last resort, which he outright refused to consider: he could have nullified the Curse inside him at any time, but he didn't, too focused on his bloodthirst until it was too late, and her only family is now gone because of him. And, lastly, Hector has shown suicidal tendencies twice in three years, and Julia barely rescued him the second time, which puts a lot of pressure on her on top of her grief. By all means, they should be miserable together, but only pretending to be courteous and friendly, as they heal some of each other's wounds together and make others fester.
Also me: hehe blue boy and pink girl they cute

Super ultra prompt that will earn you all the prompts you want: my old idea of Hector being offered a chance to live by three people. Him kneeling in front of Dracula and clutching his hand in tears, Rosaly holding his hand while he's bedridden, and Julia dragging him by the wrist to her own home, while he's wounded but smiling.

Hehe. I finally did it. :3 look at how small Hector's hands are compared to Dracula's, I'm sobbing

This is based off of an audio clip from Silent Hill, a game I sadly have not gotten to play yet :(, but I saw someone else’s animation of the clip and got really inspired by it. Idk if I’ll ever actually animate this scene or anything, but it got me to draw Hector and Julia so it was worth it lol

My brain hurts today but for some reason I decided I wanted to do a drawing meme that I saw floating around. So I asked some folks over Twitter to choose six characters I should draw and I tried to pick those in the pool that I have never/hardly drawn.
I sincerely apologize for totally messing up Carmilla's hair. L(///L )

Little role reversal thing. What if Isaac was just a kind witch living in the mountains with an insane sister that he doesn’t talk about

Rosalie and Julia, the Sisters Laforeze in The Curse of Darkness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The reason why I made Rosalie and Julia Laforeze twin sisters in The Curse of Darkness is because of two reasons.
1. It's a nod to Hector's first meeting with Julia in the game; in a short throwaway line, Hector mistook her for his dead wife Rosaly. And looking at Rosaly's appearance in the manga, I'd say it'd be too much of a coincidence for them to look very alike.
2. It's impossible now to make this Julia be any related to N!Isaac. There could've been a lot of storytelling opportunities should they never have changed Isaac so drastically, his connection with Julia being one such example. In the end, I rewrote her to be Rosalie's sister so I could explore such ideas through their relationship instead.
These versions of Julia and Rosalie differ a lot from their game counterparts, essentially being the polar opposites to Carmilla and Lenore respectively. Julia is much more abrasive, pragmatic, and overprotective in nature. Stemming from a dark past that encompassed the witch hunts and Dracula's invasion of Wallachia, the world-weary Julia shut herself off from the rest of the world and into the confines of the Bahljet mountains, opting to prioritize her sister's safety above everything else. Her initial dynamic with Hector is one marked with hostility and mistrust, but they would slowly grow to become close friends and trusted companions throughout the story.
Rosalie, on the other hand, has been under her sister's care since they were little. She was blind after a tragic incident left her horribly disfigured. Despite this and the past she shares with Julia, she managed to retain an optimistic and hopeful worldview. In a stark contrast to her sister, Rosalie embodies compassion and kindness in a world that has plunged into chaos, able to reach into the very souls of people she encounters. This is much apparent in her relationship with Hector, a stranger burdened with a mysterious past.
The reason why I made Rosalie blind is to both distinguish her from Julia, and to make her much more vulnerable in the story, despite being born with magical abilities like Julia. It makes her more dependent on those closest to her while also giving way for a compelling character arc where she adapts to the dangers of her surroundings and grows beyond her disfigurement.
