Tessie Earle, the mother of 24-year old lynch victim Willie Earle, of Greenville, South Carolina, appears at a press conference in New York, May 25, 1947. The National Negro Day Committee arranged and financed the trip for Mrs. Earle so she could appear on May 27 in Madison Square Garden at a program sponsored by the committee. The 31 white men accused of the crime were all acquitted.

Pentiment's Complete Bibliography, with links to some hard-to-find items:
I've seen some people post screenshots of the game's bibliography, but I hadn't found a plain text version (which would be much easier to work from), so I put together a complete typed version - citation style irregularities included lol. I checked through the full list and found that only four of the forty sources can't be found easily through a search engine. One has no English translation and I'm not even close to fluent enough in German to be able to actually translate an academic article, so I can't help there. For the other three (a museum exhibit book, a master's thesis, and portions of a primary source that has not been entirely translated into English), I tracked down links to them, which are included with their entries on the list.
If you want to read one of the journal articles but can't access it due to paywalls, try out 12ft.io or the unpaywall browser extension (works on Firefox and most chromium browsers). If there's something you have interest in reading but can't track down, let me know, and I can try to help! I'm pretty good at finding things lmao
Okay, happy reading, love you bye

proof that they were casting younger and younger newsies since broadway
These are the ages of the obc members in 2012 and the tour members in 2016 (when they did the proshot)
Race - (OBC) R. Breslin 23 // 19 Ben. C (Proshot)
Finch - (OBC) Aaron 29 // 22 Iain (Proshot)
Mush - (OBC) Ephraim 27 // 20 Nick (Proshot)
Albert - (OBC) Garett 26 // 21 Sky (Proshot)
Jojo - (OBC) Thayne 30 // 21 Joshua. B (Proshot)
Elmer (OBC) Evan 25 // 19 A. Zas (Proshot)
the ones that are similar is the
Specs - (OBC) R. Steele 22 // 22 Jordan. S (Proshot)
Sniper - (OBC) Alex. W 26 // 26 Daniel Swizter (Proshot)
Tommy Boy - (OBC) Tommy 22 // 21 M. Dameski (Proshot)

(more severe)
Romeo - (OBC) Andy 17 // 27 Nico (Proshot)
Buttons - (OBC) Jess. L 20 // 28 Chaz (Proshot)
the one that I couldn't figure out:
Henry - (OBC) Kyle was 27 // but I couldn't for the life of me find Michael Rio's age
(Ignoring New- Newsies (roles created in the proshot that doesn't really have an equivalent in the OBC)
Mike and Ike - (OBC) Mike Faist and Brendon Stimson // Jacob and David Guzman (Proshot) (because it's just the Delanceys in the OBC and tour but its purpose changed only in proshot - being new newsies instead of just roles for the Delanceys to play when they're offstage)
(to add on to mike and ike - it's the same thing to tommy boy but I only did tommy boy because tommy was spot in the proshot and not tommy boy)
Smalls - (OBC) Laurie Veldheer // Julian DeGuzman (Proshot) THEY CHANGED THIS CHARACTER DRASTICALLY, they should have kept my girl Smalls and gave Julian another name cause wtf
these are the true new-newsie names that didn't exist in OBC
Kenny - Jack Sippel - (name inspired by Kenny Ortega)
Hot Shot - JP Ferreri
Vince / Myron - Stephen Hernandez
Kid Blink - Andy Richardson (92s name)
Willie / Bart - Andrew Wilson

Tottenham (3-4-3) : Loris (c); Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson Royal, Højbjerg, Bentancur, Perisic ; Kulusevski, fils ; Kane.
Ice Age: Freezing Finale (also known as Ice Age 6: Freezing Finale or simply Ice Age 6) is an American computer-animated adventure comedy-drama film produced by 20th Century Animation and distributed by 20th Century Studios. It is the sixth and final main installment and the seventh overall installment in the Ice Age franchise, and the direct sequel to Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), while ignoring the events of the previous film The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022), since the latter was declared non-canon to the entire series. The film was directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno, written by Michael Berg, Michael J. Wilson, and Mike Reiss, and produced by John C. Donkin. The music for the film was composed by Hans Zimmer and John Powell, the latter of whom previously composed the first three sequels.
In the film’s ensemble voice cast, Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Jack Black, Keke Palmer, Adam DeVine, Josh Gad, Jessie J, Jennifer Lopez, and Queen Latifah reprise their roles from the previous films. The returning cast is joined by Ryan Reynolds as a returning character from the first film, with Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Bloom, Diego Luna, Michael Peña, Gabriel Iglesias, Harvey Guillén, Josh Hutcherson, Zachary Levi, Bradley Cooper, and Dave Franco voicing new characters introduced in this film.
The computer animation for the film was provided by Reel FX Creative Studios, who had also provided animation for 2011’s Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas.
Originally planned as the seventh Ice Age film for Disney+, with Ray DeLaurentis penning the script, it was later redeveloped into the sixth and final mainline film and DeLaurentis’ version of the film was scrapped in favour of a new script, due to The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild’s poor critical reception and audience viewership.
The film received positive reviews from critics who praised its animation, themes, voice acting, humor, Quane and Bruno’s direction, musical score, human characters, and satisfying conclusion of the series. It was also deemed a significant improvement over its predecessor and was considered to be the best installment of the Ice Age franchise.
Ice Age: Freezing Finale was the final film in the Ice Age series to be theatrically released after Collision Course.

New Democrats are questioning the Trudeau government’s commitment to universal pharmacare after Liberal MPs helped torpedo an NDP MP’s private member’s bill to establish a legal framework for the national program.
Bill C-213, the “Canada Pharmacare Act” tabled by veteran B.C. MP Peter Julian, was defeated Wednesday at second reading by a vote of 295-32, with the Conservatives, Bloc Québécois, and the vast majority of Liberals voting against the proposed legislation.
The bill won support from two Liberal MPs, Toronto’s Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and New Brunswick’s Wayne Long, as well as Ontario Tory MP Ben Lobb. Three Green MPs and two Independents, including Jody Wilson-Raybould, also voted in favour of the bill.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said in a statement the vote was a chance for Liberals to act on a promise they’ve “been making for over 24 years,” dating back to the 1997 election.
“Today, they made it clear that they have no interest in helping Canadians who are struggling to afford their prescription medication — they would rather side with big pharma and abandon families across the country,” Singh said.
Julian’s bill was first tabled a year ago and re-introduced in September after Parliament’s prorogation. It aimed to “establish criteria and conditions” provinces and territories must have in place before the federal government would make an unspecified annual “cash contribution” — private member’s bills cannot direct the government to spend money — to implement a pharmacare program in those jurisdictions.
The proposed legislation specified that, in order to receive federal funding, provincial and territorial governments would need to show a plan for a system that would be publicly administered by an authority accountable to the provincial government, universal, comprehensive, accessible, and “portable,” meaning citizens wouldn’t need “a minimum period of residence” before being covered.
New Democrats argued the bill would act on the 2019 report from the government’s advisory panel on pharmacare, which was chaired by former Ontario Liberal health minister Eric Hoskins.
