Honestly I think the thing that makes spinning so much easier than knitting or crochet or weaving or anything else, is that it straight up doesn't require a working memory. It's entirely your hands working, and then occasionally visually gauging whether or not I need to do the intermittent step of winding (I mostly spin supported, so this would be winding the temp cop to the permanent cop, but also true of gauging when a certain section of bobbin is full or when the spindle/bobbin itself is full). Whereas with knitting or crocheting, no matter what there's steps, and I need to remember where I am in the steps at all time. Knitting steps are often just "insert needle, yarn over, pull thru" but it's easy for me to insert the needle and get confused. Or insert the needle and just transfer it to the next needle without actually knitting the stitch. Similar with crochet. I need to remember which of the steps of any given stitch im on, or else I need to constantly read my stitches, which isn't much easier. Not to say that either are difficult if my brain is online, but also, it's often not online.

I'd just like to point out that all of the villains who use dragons in any way in HTTYD control them with fear, or venom or something except Krogan?? His flyers don't have a bond with their dragons and he's no stranger to the subjugation of dragons or anything, but I think he's the only villain in the entire franchise that has a real bond with a dragon while he's still a villain?? I just think that says a lot about Krogan and definitely serves to set him apart from the others for sure

But if you DO bring Karlach he just shifts all the blame onto Karlach I guess?? he “scolds” her and they have a back and forth but he still turns to you and references/offers an alliance with him- and there isnt any option to still accept his deal- all outcomes are Karlach attacking and you helping her, but he can even be like “No! You HAVE to stop her, why arent you stopping her?” before initiative is rolled.

some raincode naming musings (difficult because there are many side characters without surnames)

speaking very broadly, given names tend to resemble something that could be a real world given name much more than the surname, and is likely to track to a number of different languages

added to the above, japanese-sounding names are *much* more likely to be given names rather than surnames, and are likely to be paired with english word surnames (fubuki clockford, desuhiko thunderbolt) this holds true for our guy with a mandarin-ish sounding name (zange eraser) too/

even names like makoto kagutsuchi, which sound theoretically possible, are very highly improbable in reality

so (GENERALLY) japanese-esque given names seem to be common

given names range from like. a collection of sounds to parts of a real name or word, with the aforementioned desuhiko, the "hiko" part of his name is derived from a real kanji that will appear in names. as far as i understand no character names in raincode are written in kanji. no character name has Clear connections to real world name symbolism as far as i know except for fucking makoto kagutsuchi who is named after a GOD good for him i fucking guess.

you're *probably* not gonna find a random dude named christopher in raincode but that could be his last name
