Grave Field Gettlinge, Sweden (No. 5)

Gettlinge burial ground is an ancient monument in Södra Möckleby parish on southern Öland. The burial ground is one of the largest on Öland, with a length of almost two kilometers. It is located along the island's western road between the villages of Gårdstorp, Gettlinge and Klinta.

The burial ground was described by historian Johannes Haquini Rhezelius in his "Monumenta runica", from 1634. He drew of the ship's setting in his travel diary. Carl Linnaeus examined a tomb in 1741. The landscape depicter Abraham Ahlqvist wrote about the place in 1825. He was particularly interested in the two three-metre-high stones in Klinta.

The line of prehistoric cultural remains begins north of Gettinge village. Many have been destroyed by quarries or by treasure seekers. In the burial ground there were about 250 graves. Today, more than 200 remain. Most of them are stone settings from the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age. In square or round stone circles, stone coffins with unburned skeletons have been found. The northern part of the field is most diverse. The large limestone slabs there have been erected to mark the significance of the site. On an impressive, 30-meter-long ship's settlement, which consists of 23 erected granite blocks next to each other, there are about twenty bowl pits. Bowl pits are a recurring motif on stones from the Bronze Age.

Around 1900, 15 graves were examined in Gettlinge. They were only men's graves, some contained weapons but most were looted. The best preserved tomb consisted of ten limestone slabs and a double layer of covering stones. The deceased had been laid in the grave along with his dog, two spears, a shield and spurs. This tomb form is from the first century after Christ. The burial ground was utilized for 2000 years from 1000 BC to 1050 AD.

On the west side of the island there are several burial grounds. The largest, with about 300 graves, is located in Ås at Ottenby. Another large field is located at Mysinge.

30th September 2022 // Crown Princess Victoria participated in the 50th anniversary celebrations for Öland Bridge and visited an exhibition at Kalmar County Museum. The bridge was opened by the King - then Crown Prince - on 30th September 1972 to link the island of Öland with Kalmar on the mainland. Victoria arrived in a copy of the Volvo PV Sport the King was in when he arrived to the original event.

2022 has come with many new experiences. Heavy metal of 32 tons and 12 wheels is, among other things, one of the newcomers in 2022.

Reflections in 2022: In recent years, there has been a lot of talk about values. I feel that some of the fundamental values are conspicuous by their absence, and that is, among other things, the word: "Responsibility" Taking responsibility requires understanding and that from man of another word that includes "The Question and the Questioning" These 2 words "responsibility and the question" I hope will light up the sky in 2023.

2023 includes i.a Full of concert-lectures in Sjuhärad and Kalmar county from January until June for me. Dreaming visions and faith in the future with, among other things, live music, pictures, film, light, smoke and anecdotes etc. It's simply about daring to believe in yourself with or without an instrument. This is done together with the Cultural Council in Stockholm and the Swedish Association of Municipalities. Our mission is to light up Sweden's countryside with music and culture - Sweden's beautiful countryside must endure with dignity and quality of life.

There will also be several album releases as well as my book release.

Also charity tours to Bl.a Peru, hope also to Cuba, but we'll see what life has in store.

Let 2023 be a year of love, respect and care.

Borgholm Castle, Sweden (No. 29)

The construction of the castle into a unified baroque palace began in 1652 and lasted until 1709. However, the rebuilding of the castle was never completely finished. Instead, the castle was left to more or less decay until 1803, when a new tenant, Axel Adlersparre, took up residency in the castle and established a dyehouse in its northern wing. However, the business did not last long. On 14 October 1806, the roof of the north wing was ignited by a spark from broken masonry and caught fire. The fire spread quickly in the strong wind and soon only a castle ruin was left.

In the middle of the 19th century, there were calls to preserve and maintain the dilapidated castle. In 1858, the then Crown Prince Oscar (II) visited the castle and was very upset about its decay. Two years later, the first state funds for maintenance were granted and used to rebuild windows and gun ports.

In the 1880s, arches and stairs were also repaired in the castle. The renovations were carried out so that the castle would not pose a risk to all the summer guests who had started visiting the now popular seaside resort of Borgholm. During the 19th century, trees and shrubs had also taken a firm hold on the old castle, which reinforced the sensation of a castle ruin. During the last 100 years, major renovation efforts have been made to preserve Borgholm Castle and today the castle is a well-visited place for tourists.
