i have a maybe mildly amusing fact to share: i have once drawn in my sketchbook fanart for Karkata Inti, a once popular johnkat fic, that essentially was heeeeaavily inspired by Putting the Dog to Sleep

HI CHAIKA!!! oh man bit of a basic answer maybe but i do really really looove Hospice... for a lot of reasons - but funniest of which being that i remember being REALLY obsessed with that album when i was super into hatoful boyfriend (that one pigeon dating simulator .. ^^;) which probably sounds a little crazy if you dont have context. i promise its relevant. if i had to pick a fav song off of it it'd probably be Shiva, but it's a hard choice! and OH MY GODD I REMEMBER WHEN THAT FIC WAS BIG!!! its been AGES since ive thought about Karkata Inti!!! i need to do a reread soooo badly- technically actually would only be my first proper readthrough because the only thing i remember of it is that when i first ran across it back in the day i had a really very low tolerance for angst, so i couldn't bring myself to get far into it haha

Cancer death stories (In Short I'm a Moron who Should Definitely be Asleep)

I'm gonna write a post on my blog because damn it, I can. All I have to say is, I read a fanfic called Karkata Inti and it's a cancer death story. I am a giant fucking baby at cancer death, and I cried like a moron. Like why does no one write cancer survivor stories.... Oh right. People don't always survive cancer... Welp. Cancer death stories suck and I like happy god damn endings, so maybe I'll write a stupid cancer survivor story or some shit... Honestly I'm just being dumb, and also emotional, and definitely should be sleeping. Or maybe I actually will dare to write a happy fucking cancer story.... (This is an awful idea)

im actually gonna answer this over here, because writerly talk = writerly blog!

there are parts that i am incredibly proud of. i had never written anything of that size or complexity before, let alone FINISH something that huge! that alone is such a feat. i spent an entire year on that fic, and i worked on it constantly. i managed to incorporate my own themes and motifs into it, and i feel like i generally did a pretty good job with the characters. i'm thrilled about the epilogue, and how that came out. i'm thrilled that it received as much attention as it did.

but there are parts that i'm not so proud of. i've had people point out to me that the chapters after the climax are cheap and unrealistic, and over time, i've found myself agreeing with them. i didn't handle the grief well, and that section reads badly. it's like watching a robot run around, and it takes the reader out of the story. i think it's also obvious that i hated writing that part, and i had become disenchanted with homestuck in general at that point, so the quality suffered. i may go back to rewrite that section someday, because it deserves better.

still, it was overall a very positive experience for me! i learned so much from writing that, and it helped me cope with a lot of issues i was experiencing at the time. i grew with that fic. idc if it's just fanfiction! a story is a story, and any story of that length and complexity is some degree of impressive.

also jade harley is the star of that story and you cannot fucking tell me otherwise.

speaking about irreversible damage, started watching Breaking Bad today because god knows why, maybe i just haven't experienced enough fictional stories with deeply sad premises???!? though in fact. there's so many memes, i... truthfully didn't even expect the show to start with such a heavy theme right off the bat
