I screencaps this part twice unknowingly, been watching this drama in my break time after working out and waiting for my sweat to dry for shower. Yet I always watch more episode instead of just one.

Heya. One more day till the weekend! I can't wait. Nothing is out of the ordinary today. I've caught up on work. It's not easy to miss even just one day of work because emails pile up.
Me and my brother finished Mada Kekkon Dekinai Otoko today. I initially did not know they created a second season for this! I was a bit heartbroken at the start when I found out he didn't end up with Hayasaka-sensei from the first season. Kuwano is a little bit more thoughtful in the second season despite retaining his eccentricity but you can see his growth after what, 13 years?? Spoiler alert but the ending is another cliffhanger but I saw it coming. Anyway, that drama also made me wonder if I end up like Kuwano in life. I don't really think about it that much.
Tomorrow is Friday so I am in a good mood. I hope I can wake up early so that I can end work early. I may have some booze delivered. We'll see.
Goodnighters!

I have to vent somewhere. my alltime favorite japanese series Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is coming back for the 2d season after 13 years. and as a person who watches the show twice a year for fun and stress relief, i absolutely disagree with them ruining the happy ending the series got because they run out of things to film. I don't need Abe Hiroshi without Yui Natsukawa, he's good but not that good.
p.s. if anyone knows smth about 2d season, u can add to this post

Drama’s can be one of the most enjoyable ways to practice your Japanese listening ability, expand your vocabulary, and understand Japanese language used in every-day situations. For those reasons and more, I present to you 5 of my favourite ‘vintage’ and easy to watch Japanese dramas!
5.電車男 [Densha Otoko] (Train Man)
Episodes: 11
Wiki: Link
Year: 2005
So we start with one of the most popular Drama’s of all time in Japan. Densha Otoko (“Train Man”) tells the story of an Otaku who gets to know a beautiful woman on a train after attempting to rescue her from an attack. He posts about this relationship on a Japanese message board, and the drama centers around the advice he receives from the board’s users.
This drama is amazing and you will love it regardless of your interests. It’s wacky, cheesy, hilarious, but also sincere and there are some tear-jerking moments. Most of all, it shows human emotion in a lovely way. I have to warn you though, it’s a rollercoaster ride (train ride?) - your emotions will be up and down with each episode!
4. 結婚できない男 [Kekkon Dekinai Otoko] (The Man Who Can’t Marry)
Episodes: 12
Wiki: Link
Year: 2009
Next we have a drama with another male protagonist, a 40-year old architect who can’t marry. Or rather, he doesn’t want to. The drama revolves around this man who prefers to be alone but is forced to make friendships and relationships with people around him.
I love Natsukawa Yui who plays the love interest in this drama, and the way the relationship between her and Kuwano (main guy) develops. This drama is really heartwarming and addictive, definitely worth a watch.
Note: trailer is for the second series, “The man who still can’t marry”, released this year!
3. 私が恋愛できない理由 [Watashi Ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu] (The Reason I Can’t Find My Love)
Episodes: 12
Wiki: Link
Year: 2011
This is a different drama to the previous two, in that it revolves around 3 women. However, similarly they cannot find love. This is supposedly a common problem in Japanese society in general and is the topic of many dramas.
This is a great show about the friendships between modern working women who have trouble finding love.
2. 結婚しない [Kekkon Shinai] (I won’t Marry/Wonderful Single Life)
Episodes: 11
Wiki: Link
Year: 2012
Another drama centering around being unable to find love, but I just loved this drama. The three main actors are great, I especially love Amami Yuki as the main actress (she also appears in BOSS, a good old drama), and Kanno Miho (main actress) is super cute.
1. TOKYOエアポート[TOKYO Ea-po-to] (TOKYO Airport)
Episodes: 10
Wiki: Link
Year: 2012
Finally, my most favourite drama of the 2010′s. This takes a different genre to the other drama’s as it isn’t based on a love story but on the difficulties faced working as a newbie in the Tokyo Airport control tower.
I knew nothing about aeroplanes, airports or control towers or had any interest in them, but this is so beautifully filmed and well acted that I was actually really interested in it. The drama is great quality and still feels modern.

jdorama 2019 autumn
As we head into the last drama season of the year, ratings have been heavily influenced by several concurrent events - the rugby World Cup, baseball and the emperor's enthronement. Several dramas are suspected to have taken a hit right at their debut, and it looks like it'll take a couple of weeks for the waters to clear.
Entirely as expected, Doctor X (season 6) went straight to the top of the average ratings for the entire year with a current average of 19.65%. I'm not going to say much about this drama apart from that it's the same old formula, featuring the same old fights between the unrealistic heroine and the equally unrealistic power/money-hungry villains. What's more impressive than the longevity of the series is how cringeworthy it actually is.
Grand Maison Tokyo (rating: 12.4%)
Stars: Kimura Takuya, Sawamura Ikki, Suzuki Kyoka
As soon as the synopsis came out, there were accusations of plagiarising from Bradley Cooper's Burnt. Though I've only read the Wikipedia summary of that movie, happily the drama seems to be an entirely different story. Obana Natsuki is a talented French cuisine chef who lost his Michelin restaurant 3 years ago when a VIP guest collapses from ingesting an allergen that contaminated the food.
I don't know if it's intentional, but Kimura's portrayal of Obana reminds me of RDJ's portrayal of Tony Stark, without the sass. Essentially Obana is a genius in his field who inspires both admiration and exasperation in his acquaintances. His previous arrogance and brutal honesty has made his former colleagues wary of him, but he's really just a tsundere ossan who doesn't feel comfortable letting his soft side show.
As usual, Kimura is surrounded by some excellent cast members (I think this must be the most earnest role I've seen Sawamura play), and so far the script is tight and well-paced, with a promise of complexity. It's definitely a much better venture than some of the other stuff Kimura has done recently.
Ore no hanashi wa nagai | My story is long (rating: 8.4%)
Stars: Ikuta Toma, Koike Eiko
It's a little like GiboMusu, in that the premise sounded boring but the script and the acting make it a humorous enjoyable skit for the whole family. 31 year old Keshibe Mitsuru has been a NEET since his cafe went bankrupt a few years ago. He lives with (off?) his mother, and seems to have no plans to look for work.
Unlike most NEETs we've seen in dramas, Mitsuru is oddly...normal and likeable. While he seems to enjoy bickering over the smallest things, he's not lazy or unrealistic or socially challenged. He interacts with his family with a sensitivity that his bossy sister doesn't have. So far, all of this makes it hard to fathom why he's not finding work, so I hope it's explained well later. The interactions between the family members are cute and heartfelt, and I hope it finds a way to round itself out into a good story. It's so nice to see Toma on TV again.
Mada kekkon-dekinai otoko | The man who still can't get married (rating: 11.5%)
Stars: Abe Hiroshi, Yoshida Yo
Kekkon-dekinai otoko is a drama I've never watched but which apparently has a cult status amongst drama fans. Abe Hiroshi is back as a 50+ year old architectural engineer. It's not clear that he wants to get married, apart from the fact that he is interested by romance as something that he doesn't quite understand but everyone seems to gush over. He's like a Windows user who thinks about getting a Mac just to see what the hype is about, without being sure he really wants or cares about it, but just on the off-chance it might wow him.
It's cute and humorous in a very old-school sort of way, but not really something I could relate to or quite understand. I will probably keep watching because I do like seeing Abe Hiroshi playing off against Yoshida Yo. It would be nice to see if it passes the Bechdel's test because even though the two female protagonists hang out frequently, they've mostly been focused on talking about a male ex-partner or the main character.

While I have Black Jack on my mind…
BJ appeared in “The Man Who Can't Get Married” [結婚できない男] (2006) — one of my all-time favourite Japanese Drama series — too! (^^)
↑↑ In Ep. 1, Dr Hayasaka can clearly be seen reading a ブラック·ジャック — “Black Jack” (BJ) — manga at the manga café. Going by the covers, it's Volume 9 of an earlier Shonen Champion Comics edition in her hands, with volumes 10, 11 & 12 on the table.
↑↑ By Ep. 2, she has progressed to Volumes 15 & 16 (and presumably 17 & 18 in the stack on the table).
↑↑ Looks like she's still on Volumes 16 & 17 in Ep. 4…
↑↑ But by Ep. 6, she's apparently done with BJ and moved on to another Tezuka work, 火の鳥 — “The Firebird” aka “Phoenix”. (*^_^*)
Just thought it's fun to share this useless bit of trivia, especially for BJ fans! (≧▽≦)

He Who Can’t Marry and Tokyo Bachelors: A Thematic Exposition of the Bachelor Life in Japan
It should come as no surprise to anybody that the Japanese is at the forefront of showcasing societal commentary in their media. In particular, the themes that they like to explore are those surrounding generational issues, mental health issues, the aging population, and bullying, the lost and shattered dreams of their youth (due to a deflationary economy), just to name a few. Naturally,…

So...for some reason, today felt like a Friday. Work was as usual, I had food delivered for dinner, afterwhich I fell into a 2-hour food coma. I studied Japanese for a bit after waking up, watched 2 episodes of 結婚できない男 (Kekkon Dekinai Otoko) with the brother...and now that he's asleep, I'm having a bottle of soju while watching random videos on YouTube.
I wanted to talk about something deep but thoughts elude me tonight. It's probably the alcohol doing its thing, which is good but at the same time, what I wanted to avoid because I don't want to be dependent on it for sleep.
I hope I don't have an early morning meeting tomorrow. I don't want to open my email calendar because then I'd see something work related and start getting anxious.
Oh oh, a friend contacted me today about a job opportunity that required Japanese skills. Moments like this make me really regret why I didn't seriously study Japanese in the past. I feel like I'm doing so many things (Japanese studies included) but I'm not really doing it right. It's being good (I mean compared to most people) but not good enough? I'm really not looking for other job opportunities but wouldn't it have been great if I declined it because I didn't want to, not because I don't feel like I'm qualified? My Japanese skill level is just one of the many disappointments I have in life. I should probably ditch Duolingo but it's better than nothing, I guess. At least I'm forced to study the language even if it's just for a few minutes each day.
Anyway, tipsy me is going to sleep now. May tomorrow be filled with good news and just be a better day than today or yesterday.
おやすみ!

Kitsune kitsune kitsune kitsune (HEY!)
Onnanoko wa baketeru n da (itsudatte)
Jun na HAATO baretara
Kantan ni nusumarechau yo
Otoko wo damashite NANBO da
O-nozomi doori ni bakeru yo
Kitsune kitsune kitsune ni tsumamarete
Kidzukeba ii kanji ni...
Foxes, foxes, foxes, foxes (HEY!)
Girls take their form (always)
If their pure hearts are exposed,
They can be stolen easily
Whatever the situation is, they keep deceiving boys
Transforming as they wish
Foxes, foxes, you are being held by a fox
And before you notice, it starts feeling good...
キツネ キツネ キツネ キツネ
Kitsune kitsune kitsune kitsune
Foxes, foxes, foxes, foxes
どこかで誰かが嘘ついてる
そんなに目くじら立てないで
傷つかない程度に誰だって
帳尻 合わせてるの
Doko ka de dareka ga uso tsuiteru
Sonna ni mekujira tatenaide
Kidzutsukanai teido ni dare datte
Choujiri awaseteru no
Somewhere, someone is lying
Don’t be so harsh to them
Everyone is keeping a balance
To avoid getting hurt
結婚は遠い先のことでも
現実見なきゃね(遠回り嫌だし)
こんなところで心を許しちゃ
後々辛いでしょう
夢なら夢だと気づかせないで
Kekkon wa tooi saki no koto demo
Genjitsu minakya ne (toomawari iya da shi)
Konna tokoro de kokoro wo yurushicha
Atoato tsurai deshou
Yume nara yume da to kidzukasenaide
Even if marriage seems like something from a distant future,
I have to look at the reality objectively (I don’t want to take detours)
If I let myself be controlled by my heart now,
The future will be painful
If this is all a dream, don’t let me notice it
Kitsune kitsune kitsune kitsune (HEY!)
Tanuki datte doko ka ni aru (BAREBARE yo)
Douse douse kono yo wa
Minna takeyabu no naka
KIRAKIRA to hikaru shinjitsu wa
Doko ka ni kakushite aru n da
Kitsune kitsune kitsune no yomeiri wa
Kokoro no tenki ame
Foxes, foxes, foxes, foxes (HEY!)
But tanuki are also hiding somewhere (you are exposed!)
In any case, in this world
We are all living in a bamboo grove
The brightly shining truth
Must be hidden somewhere
Foxes, foxes, the fox’s wedding*
The weather forecast for my heart is rain
みんなでコンコンコン
鳴き声聴こえるか?
好きも好きじゃないも
ホントかわからない
キツネがいっぱい
Minna de KON KON KON
Nakigoe kikoeru ka?
Suki mo suki ja nai mo
HONTO ka wakaranai
Kitsune ga ippai
Together, kon-kon-kon
Can you hear the cry of the fox?
Does she like you or hate you?
You can’t find out the truth
There are a lot of such foxes

*The fox’s wedding (kitsune no yomeiri) is a phrase that is used to describe sunshowers in certain regions of Japan. For rain to fall even when the sky is clear seems to be an impossible situation, so one would feel like one is being tricked by something, and trickery is commonly associated with foxes (kitsune) in folklore.
