*inspired by bro @bysisandamgedezi who had me reflecting on what has gone on in my own life & how far i’ve come.
for the lesser part of the last 4-years I’ve spent time recovering from something brutally destructive & soul crushing that I’ll never completely be whole from. there is no justice that will ever "restore" what I lost. I can never be made whole, by therapy or anyone for that matter. shit, a nigga just had to pick up the pieces and rebuild.
It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, juggling the ebbs & flows of it all.
I think approaching 30 the outlook leans towards no points to prove to anyone anymore. being misunderstood, underestimated etc it's shit you gotta charge to the game, more important to be present & thankful in the things you're able to do while working to be & do more.
the next few goals I’d like to knock down:
* get Run & Gun Studios (my consultancy agency) into the crossroads of art, sport, technology and culture - as a leading voice to strategically consult in.
* get to push the PSL as a top 10 league globally by way of production quality & broadcasting which snowballs into work with Serie A/La Liga/Ligue 1 regaining a greater share of the competitive market held in a vice grip by Premier League.
* exercise my writing skills in scriptwriting an hour a day with the goal of having espionage/thriller/political dramas in SA tv being picked up.
* stack my bread, travel Africa (Ghana/Nigeria/Kenya/Congo) as my first destinations to then go to Europe & Asia.
* work on my “Branded Anarchy” photo series documenting street style/night life/black businesses of all the black and brown talent that exists in the city to then exhibit my work at 16 on Lerotholi for years and years to come.
* learn to build things with my hands, furniture specially.
* do dope and fly shit with the people whom I think exists in that realm.
* further build my career in digital with the goal of being an insights/cultural analyst for my favourite boutique e-comm hubs.
* build a budding car collection of my favourite 70s & 80s models starting with the ‘87 E30 & ‘87 911 Cabriolet.
*see the sporting & creative talents of my son shine abundantly with me his dad through the continued blessing of Allah to be his springboard to greatness.
*try not to give him a baby sister until he’s at least 10 (after that it’s triple vasectomy gang)
in the illustrious words of YZY *Jay’s favourite line: dawg, in due time*

Discover the Hidden Gems of Ethiopia: A Cultural Expedition
Tumblr media
  Discovering Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a country located in the northeastern part of Africa and it is known for its rich history and cultural diversity. It is bordered by six neighbors: Eritrea to the north, Djibouti to the northeast, Somalia to the east, Kenya to the south, South Sudan to the west, and Sudan to the northwest. The country has a population of over 100 million people and is home to more than 80 ethnic groups who speak different languages. Ethiopia has a long history dating back thousands of years; it was one of the oldest civilizations in Africa and developed its own unique script and calendar. The country is also famous for being the only African nation that successfully resisted colonization by European powers in modern times. Despite its long-standing place in history, Ethiopia remains relatively unknown to many tourists. However, its unique blend of traditions and modernity has recently gained attention from international travelers seeking an authentic cultural experience. With so much to see and discover, Ethiopia is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for those looking for something different.

Ethiopia's Unique Climate
The country experiences two main seasons- the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season runs from June to September, while the dry season lasts from October to May. The highlands of Ethiopia experience a temperate climate due to their altitude, with temperatures averaging between 10°C and 20°C throughout the year. However, as one moves towards the lowlands or deserts (like the Danakil Depression) temperatures can rise up to 50°C during the day whilst dropping significantly at night due to the desertification. The Rift Valley region also has unique weather conditions that are hot and humid throughout most parts of the year. If you're looking to explore the Simien Mountains National Park or trekking in Lalibela, then the dry season months between October and March would be an ideal time for you. During these months, the days are warm with clear blue skies which make it perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and photography.

The Amazing History of Ethiopia
Ethiopia has a rich and diverse history that spans thousands of years. The country is believed to be one of the oldest civilizations in the world, with evidence of human habitation dating back to around 4 million years ago. The earliest known human ancestor, "Lucy," was discovered in Ethiopia in 1974 and is believed to be over three million years old.  The region was also home to some of the earliest forms of agriculture, with crops such as coffee and teff being cultivated there for thousands of years. The early history of Ethiopia is shrouded in mystery, but it is known that several powerful kingdoms emerged in the region during ancient times. One such kingdom was Aksum, which rose to prominence around 100 AD. Aksum was a major center for international trade and played an important role in spreading Christianity throughout Africa. Another notable kingdom was Abyssinia, which emerged around 1270 AD and lasted until the late 20th century. This kingdom played a key role in Ethiopian politics and culture for centuries. Today, visitors can still catch glimpses into Ethiopia's past through its architecture, art, and cultural traditions.

The Simien Mountains are known for their deep gorges and dramatic waterfalls that cascade down rocky cliffsides. Beyond its natural beauty, the Simien Mountains are also home to unique wildlife such as Gelada baboons, Ethiopian wolves, and Walia ibexes – all of which can only be found within this area.

Great Rift Valley, Ethiopia. Photo by Scott Edmunds. Flickr.   Rift Valley This geological feature stretches approximately 6,000 km from Syria to Mozambique and bisects Ethiopia into two halves. The Ethiopian Rift Valley is home to several lakes, hot springs, volcanoes, and unique flora and fauna that form a rich ecosystem. The Great Rift Valley was formed by the movement of tectonic plates over millions of years. As the plates moved apart, deep fissures were created in the Earth's crust, forming valleys where water collected and created lakes. In Ethiopia's case, there are seven crater lakes within walking distance from each other in the region around Bishoftu city. These lakes provide an excellent opportunity for visitors to experience nature at its best while enjoying activities such as birdwatching or boating.

The Rich Culture of Ethiopia
This East African nation has over 80 ethnic groups, each with its unique customs, language, and way of life. Its history dates back over 3,000 years and is rich with mythology and legend. The country boasts many archaeological sites that reveal its long-standing civilization. Ethiopian culture is vibrant and colorful, celebrating everything from religious festivals to traditional dances. One of Ethiopia's most significant cultural treasures is its religious heritage. Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity has been practiced for sixteen centuries and has greatly influenced the country's art, music, literature, and architecture. The churches carved out of solid rock in Lalibela are a testament to this rich tradition. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church plays a significant role in the country's culture. Its practices are deeply intertwined with Ethiopian traditions; many religious celebrations involve music, dance, and feasting. Despite Ethiopia's deep roots in ancient culture, it remains a modern nation with thriving cities like Addis Ababa. The capital city blends traditional and contemporary cultures through its architecture and cuisine making it an exciting destination for travelers seeking to explore both sides of this fascinating country. Music and dance are also an integral part of Ethiopian culture. Traditional music often features instruments such as the masinko (a one-stringed fiddle) or krar (a six-stringed lyre). Meanwhile, unique popular dancing styles include eskista (shoulder dancing) or amhara kemis (woven cloth dancing).

People of Ethiopia and their food
Ethiopia is known for its rich history and strong traditions that continue to shape its people's lifestyle today.  The majority of Ethiopians belong to various ethnic groups such as the Oromo, Amhara, Tigray, and Somali. The economy of Ethiopia is largely based on agriculture, which employs over 80% of the population. The main crops grown are coffee, cereals (such as maize and teff), oilseeds (such as sesame and sunflower), pulses (such as beans and lentils), fruits, vegetables, and flowers.   Traditional Teff Flour Teff flour is a gluten-free flour that grows in Ethiopia, where it has been used for centuries as a staple food. It is made from the tiny seeds of the teff plant, which are ground into a fine powder. Teff flour has a slightly nutty taste and can be used to make a variety of dishes, including bread, pancakes, and porridge. One of the main benefits of teff flour is its high nutritional value. It is rich in protein, fiber, iron, calcium, and other essential vitamins and minerals. This makes it an excellent choice for people who are looking for healthy alternatives to wheat-based flour. Additionally, because it is gluten-free, teff flour can be enjoyed by those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance without causing any adverse reactions. Injera is the most popular food in Ethiopia. It is a flatbread made from teff flour and has a sourdough taste to it. Injera can be eaten on its own or used as an accompaniment to different stews, curries, and vegetables. Wat is another famous Ethiopian dish that consists of meat or vegetable stew accompanied by injera bread. Wat comes in different varieties each with their distinct flavor profiles depending on the type of meat or vegetables used in preparing it. Aside from agriculture, there are other industries that provide employment for Ethiopians. One such industry is textiles, which produces clothing made from cotton grown in the country. Ethiopia's leather industry is also growing rapidly due to the high demand for quality leather products worldwide. Also, the constru ction sector has been booming in recent years due to increased government investment in infrastructure projects like building roads and accommodation.

Coffee is so much more than just a drink; it's a way of life. You may receive an introduction to how vast and varied the world of coffee actually is by looking through some of the top coffee blogs available.Perhaps you're a newbie whose crush is quickly developing into something more serious. Or perhaps you're a connoisseur with a hunger for information about brewing methods. Many of these blogs have experienced it, and they zealously offer advice, comparisons, and experiments that will have you producing excellent craft beers in no time. Some other blogs, which concentrate on coffee-forward international travel itineraries and coffee destinations and introduce you to the people behind them, are driven by the social side of coffee. Coffee and community go hand in hand.
Certainly! Coffee is a popular and beloved beverage enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Its rich history, diverse varieties, cultivation methods, and health effects make it a fascinating subject for a blog post. Here's some information you can include in your blog about coffee:
1. History and Origins: Coffee's history dates back centuries to the ancient coffee forests of Ethiopia. The legend of the discovery of coffee by a goat herder named Kaldi adds a charming touch to its origins. Coffee cultivation and trade spread from Africa to the Middle East and eventually to Europe and the rest of the world.
2. Coffee Varieties: There are two main species of coffee beans: Arabica and Robusta. Arabica beans are known for their nuanced flavors and aromatic qualities, while Robusta beans are often used in espresso blends due to their higher caffeine content and bold flavor.
Tumblr media
3. Coffee Growing Regions: Coffee is grown in various regions around the world, each imparting unique flavors to the beans. Some well-known coffee-growing countries include Ethiopia, Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Kenya, and Indonesia. The concept of "terroir" is relevant here, as the soil, climate, and altitude influence the final flavor profile of the coffee.
4. Coffee Processing: After coffee cherries are harvested, they undergo processing to extract the beans. Different methods, such as washed, natural, and honey processes, affect the flavor and characteristics of the coffee. This is a crucial step in determining the final taste of the brew.
5. Roasting: Roasting is an art that transforms green coffee beans into the aromatic, flavorful beans used for brewing. The roast level impacts the coffee's taste, with lighter roasts preserving more of the bean's origin flavors and darker roasts producing bolder, smokier notes.
6. Brewing Methods: There are numerous ways to brew coffee, each influencing the taste and texture of the final cup. Some popular methods include drip brewing, French press, pour-over, espresso, AeroPress, and cold brew. Each method extracts different compounds from the coffee grounds, resulting in distinct flavors.
7. Coffee and Health: Coffee has been studied extensively for its potential health effects. It contains antioxidants and can be linked to various benefits, such as improved cognitive function, enhanced physical performance, and a reduced risk of certain diseases. However, excessive consumption can lead to negative effects like insomnia, jitteriness, and digestive issues.
8. Coffee Culture: Coffee has a significant cultural impact worldwide. It's not just a beverage; it's often a social experience. Cafés and coffeehouses are gathering places for people to relax, work, and connect. Different cultures have their own unique coffee traditions and rituals.
9. Sustainable Coffee: As the coffee industry grows, concerns about environmental sustainability and fair labor practices have become more important. Fair trade and direct trade practices aim to ensure that coffee farmers receive fair compensation for their work and that the environment is protected.
10. Coffee Trends: The coffee world is always evolving. Trends like specialty coffee, single-origin beans, and alternative milk options (such as almond, oat, and soy milk) have gained popularity. Staying up to date with these trends can help you understand the current coffee landscape.

Maybe you could even choose a walking safari, which is a wonderful way of experiencing the wilderness up close and personal. However, this may become a factor in choosing the best place for a safari.
Decide on how you are going to travel or with whom
It all boils down to this, whether you are travelling solo, as a part of a group, as a couple or as a family. You have to decide on your level of independence while on a safari getaway. That’s not all; you’ll be able to see a varied species of bats in the caves!

AN EXPERT GUIDE TO PLANNING A KENYA BUDGET SAFARI
The process of planning a Kenya Safari depends on some factors. They include the number of days, types of accommodations, destinations, safari activities, etc. Yet, it’s still possible to plan a Kenya Budget Safari in this wonderful country.
Below, we’ll closely look at how you can plan a perfect Kenya Safari Tour on a reasonable budget.
Tumblr media
1. CONSIDER VISITING IN THE LOW OR SHOULDER SEASON
The low season in Kenya is from April to May. And, the shoulder season is in November, December, and March. During these months, international flights and accommodations will cost significantly less.
Traveling in the low (green) season has another advantage – the landscapes are vibrant and the game-viewing is great. Because animals move towards the watering holes that are now filled.
2. PICK A CAMPING SAFARI
There are many campsites located outside the national parks of Kenya. Their costs start from $10 onwards (per person, per night). Below are a couple of budget campsites for visitors on a Kenya Safari:
Crocodile Camp – It’s located next to the town of Talek. And is the top-rated camp in the Maasai Mara and a great budget choice. The service is also exceptional and the camp is great in terms of comfort. Crocodile Camp provides great quality – at an affordable price!
Greenwood Safari Camp – This camp is also situated nearby Talek. Though already pitched tents are available, you can also set up your tent. You’ll get to enjoy the day relaxing in a hammock or swimming in the pool.
Our Insights – Most of the budget camps are booked quickly. So, make sure to book in advance. Furthermore, if you have your equipment for camping, you can pitch a tent as well.
3. OVERVIEW OF BUDGET CHOICES FROM THE AIRPORT TO YOUR CAMP
Tumblr media
You can save money right from the moment you land in Kenya. Below is a rundown of budget choices along the way to your camp:
3.1. Choose A Bus To Narok
For a Budget Kenya Safari, you should pick local transportation. Matatus (minibuses) are popular in Kenya. For this, you’ll have to go to Narok. It’s a town situated 150 km from Nairobi. The usual cost for a matatu is $4.
The bus station is located in the Central Business District Area. The first bus departs at about 7-8 am. The coordinates are – 1.283412, 36.830169.
3.2. Book A Shared Taxi From Narok To The Campsite
There’s a public shared matatu that goes straight to the villages just outside the national parks. The time is till 1.30 pm. And the matatu is named C12. The costs are around $5 (per person).
3.3. Book A Safari After Arriving At The Camp
After arriving at the camp, go to the reception area and make arrangements for a safari the next day. For people on a budget, they can choose a Kenya Group Safari and share the cost between people.
4. NATIONAL PARK ENTRANCE FEES IN KENYA
Before you go on a Safari in Kenya, you should know about the entrance fees of the national parks. Don’t worry, because the fees are very reasonable and won’t affect the overall budget too much.
