Why is men performing unpaid care work - cooking, wound tending, emotional labour - while perfectly capable women are right there, a standard feature in all the BLs we love
Bc undermining the gendered division of labour is more radical than what couples do with their genitals

The Miracle of Teddy Bear Ep 1 Stray Thoughts
So, @lurkingshan and @twig-tea say this is good enough that Shan was willing to cash in 9 hours of her coupons to make sure I watch it. Let's see if this show has a very good bear.
I still have trauma from Memory in the Letter. That show also featured rare stellar phenomena as the inciting incident.
The bear is the narrator and is named Tofu.
This dog's reaction is totally reasonable.
Whoa Inn Sarin looks different.
"This is the story of a boy...and a bear..."
What in The Brave Little Toaster (1987) is going on??
"You're beautiful. It's a shame you're a thief." Mr. Security Guard, it's not that kind of video.
Potential car violence in episode 1? It's a Thai drama!
Oh, exposition in the action sequence: Nut is a screenwriter.
Ah yes, he was indeed struck by a vehicle. Let's pull out the Thai statistics again.
I have so many questions about the bear's ability to feel dizzy.
Why does The Little Prince pop up so often??
The furniture is talking again, and they experience lust.
I like meeting all of these characters under stressful conditions like this. It reveals a lot about their characters. We know the best friend is protective of Nut, and feels like some kind of manager. This girl maybe has an unrequited crush. Mom is being helpful but weird.
We got payoff from the furniture lust already. Tofu taking off Nut's clothes when he's drunk doesn't read sexual; neither does their waking up together. It's okay for Nut to recognize his good taste in Tofu, and is a nice soft launch about him being gay, and apparently expecting someone named Neung to be there.
I see we have some kind of dad trauma, and Nut and his mom don't get along much.
Damn, the slippers took mom out to help keep Tofu around. Real ones.
Baby's first existential crisis: will I be abandoned by those I love?
I'm very excited about the curious neighbors.
Okay, I like Nut's actors. He's got good control of his expressions.
She has her husband to help her? Um, ma'am?
Hey, it's kinda sad that Nut's tears seem to be what awakens each item. There's a lot of characters in this room.
Well, taking care of the house is going well...
Tofu and Khunchai got real beef. I love it.
I was wondering when he'd notice his he'd was missing
Suddenly: Tee Thanapon.
Does Tofu not know his own backstory?
I'm interested in the age gap potential of the side pair.
I know Tofu better tell Nut who he is in this episode with how long it is.
Oh shit is Tofu connected to someone else who's in some sort of coma? Is it Neung, who possibly gifted Nut Tofu in the first place?
Wait, who is Tarn, and is he the one who was getting defibrillated?
Interesting. So Tofu resembles a senior named Neung.
Wow, excellent work by Job in this flashback. He doesn't look as irritable and stressed, and he has a great infatuated face.
I believe the toy council is going to solve this mystery.
I understand Nut. The feeling of a man who cares about you laying next to you is comforting. He's totally right to kick Tofu out, though.
Okay, there was a lot that happened in this episode, but I actually think this was a really good opening episode of a drama. I have a strong sense of the entire cast so far, and we have some interesting mysteries to unpack. We have the question of Tofu's transformation, his connection to the man in the hospital, the mom claiming the dad is around, why Tofu looks like Neung, who is Tarn, and why do only some items in the house gain sentience? I'm intrigued.

No worries! Your set didn't spoil me, i already saw those moments before i learned my lesson and muted everything on twitter! Also idc about spoilers if it's mjpink.
[LOOK AWAY PEOPLE SPOILERS FOR KHUNCHAI EP 12]
Plus nothing could have taken away from my emotional devastation over ep 12 and Jiu's vow to take better care of Tian/him introducing Tian as his lover to his parents.
Im not ok so im gonna stare at your set some more to heal
akdjskdksk i’m glad then!!! thank you so much!! 🥰🥰
LITERALLY LIKE??? god. this ep??? killed me. but i really like how comfortable jiu is with his own queerness and queerness in general? last ep he didn’t understand why people couldn’t accept tian as a leader just because he’s gay AND HE’S RIGHT
this ep he introduced tian to his parents and yes, they’re dead but even if they were alive, jiu would’ve introduced tian to them all the same and said they would’ve loved him. he also held tian’s hand in public
THIS MAN IS A LEGEND???? but also, he wasn’t raised with the amount of pressure from his parents that tian was, so it does make sense. and also!!! tian ABSOLUTELY deserves a man who is proud to have him, proud to love him
AND JIU IS THAT PERSON!!!! my tears!!!
they need a happy ending. i swear, i won’t know what to do with myself if these men aren’t alive and happy and together in the end.
but i’m glad my set can bring you some comfort! ❤️💙

First watch: The Miracle of Teddy Bear episodes 7-9
Start with episode 1
It's unfortunate that Tofu didn't out himself as Nut's teddy bear immediately. Anything he might say now could have been learned from Na (like about Khunchai tearing off Tofu's leg) or from going through Nut's video collection (for the movies they watched together). Is there something else only Tofu and Nut would know that Tofu could use to prove his existence?
Continuing to love this series. And realizing we still have 7 episodes to go. A lot can happen in 7 episodes.
Reveals and clowns after the cut. Or continue with episodes 10-16.
What would happen if the police had fingerprinted and DNA tested Tofu? What if he doesn't have fingerprints or DNA? Or if they matched Neung's? Or the activist Tarn? Or even Nut's?
Okay, so the photo at Tarn's house establishes that Tarn and Nut were exes, but Nut didn't want to be seen in the photo, so he hid behind the book - presumably a gay or BL novel - that he had later been hiding in his bookcase and has now brought out in current episode time.
But what was the activist's relationship with Neung, who had a photo of Tarn on Neung's bookshelf? Did Neung have a crush on Tarn? Is Nut's bad experience with his relationship with Tarn a result of Tarn cheating with Neung? Inquiring clowners want to know.
And if Tofu is a temporary embodiment of the comatose Tarn, basketball skills, syrupy kiss complements and all, but with Tofu the teddy bear's consciousness, why does human Tofu look like Neung?
Most importantly, will they ever get the other slipper back?
And now, after seeing Tarn's confrontation with his uncle Saen, I'm guessing one other possibility that Tarn and Nut broke up about Nut being in the closet at the time, that Nut didn't come out until much later. (Can I have multiple clowns at once?)
Jan is pure evil. We are totally in lakorn territory. Hopefully Prib doesn't cross from cluelessness into evilness.
And Nut had to deal with a homophobic father. Ouch.
But happy birthday. I needn't have worried, now it's clear they've had sex for the first time.
And we get multiple confirmations something was going on between Nut and Tarn. But what will happen when Nut sees Prib's drawing or the photo with Tarn? I think he's going to freak. And then we'll probably flash back to what all happened between them and I can give up or fulfill my clowns.
But it seems the schoolmarm is part of their troubles. And Nut's father.
Poor Song. Is his father going to give him space to be open with him? Maybe we've seen that he will, as part of being a better father. But it's ambiguous for me.
And it looks like we'll get to dive into Nut's past trauma and past joy.
Continue with episodes 10-16.

Sad to see the protagonist women get relentlessly villainised when the real Uber villain, Magnate Song who caused the death of his gay brother in front of his homosexual son’s eyes, setting off a chain of events to avoid the same tragic end for Tian, never gets discussed in the same light
Tumblr media
I wonder if this isn’t why we don’t get GLs because there’s no model, in which the majority of an audience - gay or straight, will have automatic empathy with the flawed women characters, due to unexamined misogyny, the way they do with even more flawed men. In fans’ eyes everyone in #KhunChai #ToSirWithLove is a villain except the man who holds the most power.
On top of causing the death of his closest brother Zhang, an innocent, hardworking and decent man unprovoked, Jao Sua is a terrible husband and father who neglects his second son completely unless it is to dispense criticism or abuse
Then there’s Ma. How can one instigate the homophobic outing of a rival causing his suicide, exploit a destitute orphan to assassinate your way to being king of the 5Dragons, hook on opium one of two prepubescent children you kidnapped, yet fail to top the #KhunChai villains roll-call! How?
Tumblr media
We need to interrogate why the women are always seen as top of the villain hierarchy when they’re trying to protect their sons and survive within an oppressive patriarchal environment whose rules they don’t make. Song loves his one son more than the other, at this point, but he has also been taking misguided actions that hurt people for over 20 years but is simply presumed to be entitled to these bad actions with impunity.
How was it so easy to forget it is Song’s actions that forced a brother who was the closest to him to commit suicide in front of his own gay son and disconnect those actions from the extent to which they traumatised his wife to go to the ends she is going to to preserve the dignity of her only son and ultimately his life.
We routinely villainise the women’s response to patriarchal and homophobic oppression but somehow forget to deliver even half that condemnation to the man whose wilful actions - to protect nothing but his own ego and prestige, directly caused this cascade of death and pain?
This is something this amazing BL Lakorn about masculinity, is asking us to contemplate and we would all do well to reflect on

Hey TT, I had consecutively bad experiences with Thai dramas. My first one was a historic series of 5 brothers, Khunchai series, so I thought the lakorns would be watchable. But I probably chose really gross ones after that. Should an have looked up the synopsis before watching. Can you recommend a few good ones?
Kinnporsche is literally my first Thai show and I'm loving it a lot. The others on my list are Bad Buddy, Cutie Pie, and Ingredients (which seems meh, but I have to watch coz I'm a sucker for Jeff Satur.) So BLs only so far, coz none of the straight plots really hitting the spot for me. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

The Miracle of Teddy Bear Ep 2 Stray Thoughts
Last week, a teddy bear named Tofu, who belonged to a likely-gay screenwriter named Nut, came to life suddenly as a very hot doppelganger of a senior Nut once had a crush on named Neung. Nut's mom wanted Tofu to stay with them after Nut thought he was a thief and chased him, ending in Nut accidentally hitting him with his car. With the help of all the other sentient furniture, Tofu is determined to figure out why he's come to life, what's his connection to a possibly-comatose man, and how he can go back to being a bear. Nut's friend Gen seems to be on a romance track with a younger motorcycle rider, and there's a female colleague in unrequited love with Nut. Nut's mom is seemingly mentally unwell, and this stresses Nut. Nut's dog Khunchai also has huge mutual beef with Tofu.
Oh wow. How often does mom see her dead husband hanging around?
Ah yes. It's time for the nosy neighbors to get involved with their wild speculation.
Okay, so I did finish this on a plane, but taking notes was not really doable, so I'll just muse on some things.
First, Saen. What the fuck??? Is he alive? Is this the same dude? Why does Nut think he's dead, and the mom refuses to accept that he's gone?
Second, the neighbor lady. That was mean as fuck??? She helped Tofu just to be rude, and then got all her feelings hurt when she got her ass handed to her.
Third, Tarn. What a diabolical play from the company he's protesting to pay his medical expenses to hurt his image, and is he actually Saen's nephew?
Fourth, the pitch plotline. Very unsubtle commentary about BL avoiding serious storytelling in favor of maximizing bubbly feelings. I like that Nut pushed back on the idea that first love is purely joyous and sweet, but don't know how I feel about his boss clocking him for it.
Fifth, Tofu. It bothers me that he has gotten hurt in both episodes so far but doesn't seem to feel much about it. I am also curious if being dizzy from seeing a spinning solution is going to wake Tarn up again. He tried this week, but he has no idea what's going on.
Sixth, Neung. It seems like Nut maybe didn't get very far with Neung before and that's why he's being cagey about Tofu's resemblance? I do like that Inn is playing Neung differently from Tofu. They have completely different demeanors.
Seventh, Na. Girl, what do you know that you've refused to process all these years?
Eighth, the two guy neighbors. They feel married. I hope they won't be problems like the other lady.
That's all for now!

Crazy with joy after a K.-O., she shows her breasts to the public (video)
For her big debut in Bare Kunckle Fighting Championship, Tai Emery did not go unnoticed. A K.-O. facing Rung-Arun Khunchai, followed by an unexpected celebration by offering his chest to the public gaze. It’s not just boxing and mma which are favored by combat sports enthusiasts. The BKFC also has its aficionados and many of them were in Thailand to attend the women’s clash which pitted the…
