hate when the things I've convinced myself are just excuses turn out to be real issues after all
#in other news I'm TRYING to follow this workout plan but ough ah my lower back#ooh yikes my knees#for serious though like. it should be that I have to stop because the actual muscle group I'm trying to work gets tired right???? right????#not because my back starts to Feel Bad before anything else#anyway I was like oh well maybe I just need to strengthen the muscles there in my back/core and stuff so this is good and helpful#but hmm maybe pushing through it is not the answer because now it still Feels Bad in a way that does not feel like muscle soreness yk#and I don't think it's a form issue because it's a problem for me with various otherwise unrelated exercises#(also how does anyone do enough squats-adjacent stuff to actually make a difference without taking video-game style damage to their knees??#asking for a friend

also in regards to the over promising thing, i mean claims like "these shoes cure knee pain". which is like objectively not directly true but also experientially 100% true for me (as an essential part of a total treatment plan) so it doesn't offend me when people make broad sweeping claims like that you just can't take them at face value either
#i have had a severe internal rotation in my left knee since i was born#that i compensated with an external rotation in my hip FOREVER#and i had incredible knee pain until i switched the shoes#because after over a year of wearing them my foot strengthened enough to improve ankle position#which helped straighten my knee#and made me more able to retain the chiropractic adjustments that were being made to correct my pelvis position#and over time my knee has actually just straightened out into the correct position to where you can't really even see a rotation issue#so yes the shoes were essential but also it was the chiro and rehab exercises that did it not the shoes#Anyway i am VERY pro barefoot#also no more raised heel plus keeping my pelvis adjustments means no more lower back pain either

Lads, I have come to the unsurprising and belated realisation that I am a ✨fucking idiot✨
#i feel like. if a normal person had a pain in their knee while kneeling and after kneeling. they wouldn’t just. do it anyway#so like why have i been doing that this whole time??#a lot of yoga and pilates positions (yoga and pilates are my primary way of getting exercise because i can’t run anymore#because of my achilles tendonosis. haaaaaa)#require kneeling. but it’s like.. that doesn’t mean you need to DO them#i think i decided in my own brain that kneeling would strengthen my knee?? even though it’s clearly not doing that#i either need to sit out those exercises or bring a cushion to class with me#i’m pretty convinced now that i’ve been putting unnecessary pressure on my kneecap and stressing out the patellar ligament#will confirm with my physio obviously. she wants to ultrasound my knee and i also want her to ultrasound my knee#there is something called patellofemoral pain syndrome that i would be willing to bet that i have developed; probably as a result of doing#too much while my knee was healing from being dislocated the most recent time. fucking yikes#i do feel dumb for not realising this before but i know there’s ways i can modify my exercises#i remember my pilates teacher taught me the seated plank. but then i stopped doing it after i bruised my coccyx#(seriously can i fucking live)#my coccyx is fine now though so i guess we’re going back to that shit. and doing seated cat stretch also#personal

Ya boi just got diagnosed with patellafemoral syndrome so that knee pain that’s been fucking with my fencing is… here to stay. At least for a while.
