*yawns* Forgive me but it’s about The Barber (2014)

The second film in The Barber series is an overly stylized portrayal of the vicious mind of a common barber. But the cutthroat acting of Scott Glenn saves it from sinking. Glenn as the barber is sadistically outrageous in his attempts of establishing himself as the sleekest serial killer. More of a ‘catch me if you can’ sharp mindset coupled with an intention of etching a fear of regular people among themselves gone miserably blunt.

The character of Chris Coy initially claiming to be the barber’s long lost son has been quite well carved out. He tries hard to get the barber to confide in him for he wants to equally master the art of serial killing. Is that, however, his real ambition? Max Arciniega‘s strong depiction of a comparatively weak character who has been working at the barber’s for quite sometime coaxes one’s disbelief in the criminal intentions of his boss. Kristen Hager playing one of the many victims of the barber is run-of-the-mill and unusually awkward in the end.

With an insipid storyline and a lead character moderately following the footsteps of the infamous figures belonging to the great fictional serial killer ancestry, including The Stepfather, this film, I think, can be a harmless substitute for sleeping pills.

Sorry about this, director Basel Owies and writer Max Enscoe . But this could have been petrifying. Now I need a proper haircut.
