Kuukai and the Rishukyo: It’s meaningless- This guy is an idiot (Esoteric Buddhism-1)

The sect that Kuukai founded is a major sect of esoteric Buddhism called Shingon Buddhism, and its temples are scattered throughout Japan. One time, I went to see a Shingon sect festival in my area. One word: gorgeous! It was a truly spectacular ceremony that made effective use of lanterns.

Now, after looking at it and thinking about it, I concluded that it was "too gorgeous!!" The Shingon sect seems to hold extravagant festivals without exception. Looking back, the scene when Kukai received the transmission ceremony from his master Huiguo in Chang'an, the capital of the Tang Dynasty where esoteric Buddhism was popular, can only be described as gorgeous. Surrounded by brightly colored ornaments, Kukai threw flowers at the Buddhas, and childishly, the Buddha would unite with the guardian deity of the Buddha whom he had thrown. He became a Tathagata.

If you want to convey the state of enlightenment, a more modest ceremony should be sufficient. Not doing so seems like a desire to "protect the nation," a desire to bypass personal salvation (enlightenment) and become involved in the fate of the nation. Shingon Buddhism is the perfect way to demonstrate the power of the nation. In other words, it's a "bluff".

Another point of contention is the strange description of Rishukyo, one of the fundamental scriptures of the Shingon sect. What it says is that when a young man and woman get to know each other, love develops, and they embrace each other with feelings that reach heaven, they are at the ``bodhisattva level'' (purity). In normal Buddhism, romantic feelings between men and women are usually excluded, so the description in the Rishūkyō stands out.

When it comes to human love, it's normal for two people to end up on the other side, and the scary situation of a love triangle often occurs. The moment a loved one of the opposite sex is abducted by someone of the same sex, the person concerned falls into hell instead of heaven. A bodhisattva quickly turns into a sinner in hell. As someone who has experienced this bitter love triangle, I declare that the Rishukyo sutra is falsehood. Kuukai is an idiot who made this the basic scripture.

It's funny I like rimahiko and kuutau more than all of those Amu ships. But still wish rimahiko and kuutau happen when they're much older than Encore.

That being said, I wish Amu's struggle on changes, in her case growing up, doesn't involve/bring up her love problem just because of the shojo theme. For example, her problem is still as the same as before meeting her SC but on different level due to growing up. There are more things about growing up than love duh!

My litmus test for if someone is worth discussing Shugo Chara with is how they think about Utau being attracted to Ikuto and the revelation of their uh "relationship."

Like, do they understand why she's attracted to her brother? Do they understand what themes that attraction is used to highlight? Do they get how it relates to the wider themes of trauma and unstable identities and messed up family dynamics that warp the children within them?

Do they understand that Utau kissing her brother is part of the constantly reoccurring cycle of characters messed up by trauma and then becoming warped and unpleasant and harming others because that trauma is not being dealt with in a healthy manner? The cycle which underpins every single major villain in the story?

It's one thing to be grossed out by it, whatever, so were Kuukai, and Amu, and Ikuto! But when people start dismissing it as shock value fanservice or going "it shouldn't be in a kids manga!" it just tells me that they completely missed the point.

Yeah, it was messed up! Utau is messed up! Her relationship with her brother is messed up! Their childhood was messed up! Utau's behaviour towards her brother is a direct result of how messed up they are! The manga practically screams this at you!!!

And you know what? That should be in a kids manga. Utau's development of realizing her misplaced attraction to her brother is the result of her unstable family dynamics and learning to let go of him in that respect is important!

You think there aren't kids dealing with that? You think there aren't kids that have struggled with misplaced and inappropriate attractions to people because they've been messed up by trauma? You think they don't deserve to be seen and heard and told "you're not broken" and to know they can still be worth love and recovery? To know that they can still navigate a relationship outside of those misplaced attractions and messed up dynamics?

Genuinely: Utau's sub-plot with her dealing with her romantic attraction to her brother was both important and well written, and it ties in so neatly to every other theme about trauma and healing in the manga that if someone misses the point here, I just do not trust that they'll understand anything else this series has to say.

One of my favorite illustrations finally got some merchandise and they fucking mistranslated it, I was so fucking mad.

Look you idiots, not every "r" needs to be translated to a fucking "l". STOP IT! It looks so fucking stupid and doesn't make any sense.

Also STOP fucking removing long vowels in names and other words (some goods are CONSTANTLY mistranslating Kuukai's name). You can't just remove long vowels in your translations, that's BAD. There are certain words that sound very similar to one another and the only difference is that long vowel, if you don't pronounce it properly you can accidently say a different word. Who taught you this bullshit? Why am I asking, when I know western schools are fucking garbage… clearly none of you have taken an English class and learned about grammar or macrons.

Yeah well they're wrong. It should be Kuukai or Kūkai. Those are the only correct translations. They're being taught English so fucking badly in Japan, Jesus Christ. And once you learn the wrong way to do it, it's so hard to unlearn that bad behavior. I don't expect manga artists to be English majors because that's not their job, their editors are the ones who should know English. People are too afraid to tell them they did it wrong.

The more Japanese I learn, the more annoyed I get at "professional" translators in the west. Let me remind you that the moron who translated the SC! manga in the west years ago translated Black Lynx as "Black Links". I'm serious. Yeah, I'm not trusting these people.

SEGMENT ONE (EIGHT MINUTES):

- Our show this week opened with Sudu Upadhyay voicing over still images from CORE's live event at the Bloomsburg Fair. We then join Sudu and Raven at the commentary booth where Sudu announced that as part of CORE's landmark strategic alliance, we will be joined by special guests from All Style Pro Wrestling and GLEAT. One of ASPW's top luchadores Tromba will be in action and from GLEAT we are joined by blue chip young wrestler Tetsuya Izuchi and referee Soft Imai. Raven said he had some special guests of his own, and with that the lights in the building were replaced by the glow of black lights and smoke began to fill the studio. Six individuals wearing make-up and fluorescent outfits ran into the frame and began to take turns sliding on their hands and knees in front of commentary booth, the metal they attached to their bodies sent sparks shooting up. Raven welcomed the slider scare actors from Dorney Park's Haunt event to the set. Sudu was impressed but confused by the display. Raven said as a special treat for the viewers during commercial breaks the scare actors will be giving Sudu a spooky slider makeover and at the end of the program Sudu will perform a slide of his own. Sudu said he never agreed to this, but Raven told him that the viewers are already looking forward to it and Sudu wouldn't want to disappoint them.

- The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour opening aired set to "Black Swan Lake" by Janko Nilovic.

- A music video aired set to "No estamos solas" by Ana Tijoux promoting a new tag team making their debut next week, two wrestlers from Chile that have made a name for themselves in CMLL and rings around the world, Stephanie Vaquer and La Catalina.

SEGMENT TWO (EIGHT MINUTES):

Tetsuya Izuchi vs. KUUKAI Tetsuya Izuchi defeated KUUKAI via submission with a hammerlock in full guard. (4:09)

- Following the match we join Daphne Oz at the CORE news desk from the COal REgion Roundup. - Daphne first sends us to comments from Fuego Del Sol on his unlikely alliance with Giant Baba Yaga. After weeks of coming to the aid of local talent that were being attacked by The Production, he never anticipated that it would be Giant Baba Yaga that would be there in his time of need. Fuego said that he and Baba will team up later today to face Derek Dillinger and Magnum CK, and after that we'll just have to see what the future holds. Regardless, Fuego is confident it will end better for him than it did for Jake Something and Vincent Nothing. - Next up we get comments from the folkstyle team of Shaw Mason, Tim Bosby, and Hunter Holdcraft. They expressed a desire to get back to basics following their recent loss to the Southern 6. So they will be having a series of singles matches over the next three weeks against one another, the first of them to defeat both of their partners will go on to face "Filthy" Tom Lawlor at CORE's 15th Anniversary Show on October 27th in Jim Thorpe. - We are then sent to a video of Starboy Charlie at ringside at the Worldwide Dojo in Bristol, Pennsylvania where Marcus Mathers is in the ring doing a number on some of the students as he gets back in ring shape after the injury he received prior to Trios Kingdom. Alex Taylor then appeared to the apparent surprise of the two men. Taylor said he streamed the training session for Kerry Morton to see, and Kerry was so impressed he got Starboy and Mathers a match next week against Big Dan Champion and Joshua Bishop of the TrustBusters Reserve. - We close the segment out with Daphne Oz announcing the return of a familiar face. After a disappointing first run with CORE, the Von Trier brothers returned to the family ranch to regroup. After months of soul searching, next week one of the Von Triers will be back in CORE, Keith Von Trier. But as part of his journey, Keith has taken on a new moniker. So next week we will see Trench take on The Pennsylvania Polar Vortex.

SEGMENT THREE (SEVEN MINUTES):

Black Generation International (Titus Alexander and Bendito) vs. Tromba and Mike Skyros Black Generation International defeated Tromba and Mike Skyros with the Chaos Theory from Alexander on Skyros. (4:47)

- Disappointed with his assigned partner, Tromba attacked Mike Skyros after the loss. Tromba locked Skyros in a submission hold and refused to break it. CORE officials made their way toward the ring to put a stop to the attack, but one of them caught the attention of Titus Alexander as he made his way up the aisle. Alexander shoulder checked Jigsaw and then got in his face. Jigsaw tried to deescalate the situation while Alexander shouted for Jigsaw to let Eddie Kingston know that he wants his rematch. Local talent and CORE officials turned their attention to the altercation and got between the two as Skyros was left to cry out for help.

SEGMENT FOUR (NINE MINUTES):

Giant Baba Yaga and Fuego Del Sol vs. The Production (Derek Dillinger and Magnum CK) Giant Baba Yaga and Fuego Del Sol defeated The Production with a running neckbreaker from Yaga on Magnum. (7:33)

SEGMENT FIVE (NINE MINUTES):

- Before the main event, we got a shot of the commentary booth where Sudu's slider makeover was near complete, his face painted like a skull, hair spiked up a sprayed with temporary hair color, and a neon colored spiked vest over his suit jacket.

Sonny Kiss vs. Hyan - Hyan went for the busaiku knee on Sonny Kiss, but Sonny pulled referee Allison Leigh in the way to absorb the strike. With the referee down, Trench made his way toward the ring. Before Trench could interfere, referee Scarlette Donovan entered the ring and sent Trench to the back. While this was transpiring, Sonny Kiss placed an international object in their boot. Hyan got back to her feet but was met with a superkick with Sonny's loaded boot and pinned. Sonny Kiss defeated Hyan with a superkick. (7:07)

- Sonny Kiss called the members of the TrustBusters Reserve to the ring after the match. Trench was first out but Big Dan Champion, Joshua Bishop, and Invictus Khash all looked reluctant to enter the ring. Sonny Kiss requested that two of them lift Sonny's arms in victory. Trench was first to volunteer, but Sonny wanted one of three longer tenured members to do it, with Big Dan and Bishop eventually performing the honors.

SEGMENT SIX (THREE MINUTES):

- The lights again went down and were replaced by black lights, smoke filled the set, the disco version of the Friday The 13th theme from Part III began to play, and Raven announced that it was time for Sudu Upadhyay's very first slide. Sudu ran into frame preparing to send sparks flying with a tremendous slide, but just then one of the scare actors hit Sudu with a drop toe hold into a steel chair. Raven began laughing uproariously and said that while Sudu had been training during commercials breaks to learn how to slide, he had been doing some training of his own showing some of the scare actors his favorite wrestling maneuvers.

Dainichi Nyorai (the sun) also dies - Esoteric Buddhism 2 (essay)

In 1995, Shoko Asahara, the founder of Aum Shinrikyo, who caused the subway sarin gas attack in Japan that killed and injured thousands of people, said that Esoteric Buddhism was a superior sect within Buddhism. In Japan, there is a tendency to praise Kuukai, who introduced esoteric Buddhism, as an exceptional religious figure. Is that so? The supreme deity of Esoteric Buddhism is Dainichi Nyorai, the incarnation of the sun. Kuukai has been certified as Dainichi Nyorai through rituals, so he is a hardcore figure.

The blazing sun is a being that never rests for a moment, emitting energy of light and heat and giving blessings to all things. However, science teaches: ``The sun also has a lifespan, and someday it will burn out and die.''Currently, the sun is in its prime, but the teaching of Buddhism is that everything that exists is subject to ``birth, old age, illness, and death.'' This is the fundamental point, and the Buddha made his argument from there. It would be foolish to think that only the sun can escape birth, old age, disease, and death. It is irrational to think that the sun will live forever by capturing only a fleeting moment of life.In that sense, the teachings of Esoteric Buddhism go against the entire teachings of Buddhism and are laughable.

By the way, as proof of the worship of light and heat, there is a strange practice in Esoteric Buddhism called ``burning goma,'' in which a pedestal is made of wood and a fire is lit inside. It seems like they want to imitate the energy of the sun's light and heat, but even if they repeat this childish behavior, certain death will come to them. It would be a wasted effort. You could say that Kuukai was an idiot.

１９９５年、日本で地下鉄サリン事件を起こし、数千人を死傷させたオウム真理教の教祖：麻原彰晃は、密教が仏教のなかで優れた宗派であるとしていた。確かに日本では密教を伝えた空海を格別な宗教人として称える風潮がある。そうなのだろうか？密教の最高神は大日如来であり、太陽の化身である。空海自身、儀式で大日如来であると認定されているから、筋金入りである。

燃え盛る太陽、一瞬たりとも休まず光や熱のエネルギーを発散し、万物に恵みを与える存在。だが、科学は教える：「太陽にも寿命があり、いつかかならず燃え尽き、死ぬ。」今現在太陽は壮年期であるが、存在するものには必ず「生老病死」があるというのが、仏教の教えの根本であり、仏陀はそこから論を立てた。太陽だけが「生老病死」から逃れられると考えるのは、愚かだと言えよう。生の一瞬のみとらえて太陽が永遠に生きると考えるのは不合理だ。

その意味で、密教の教えは仏教の教え全体に背くものであり、笑止である。

ちなみに、光と熱を崇めるという証拠に、密教では「護摩を焚く」といって、木を組んで台座を作り、その中で火を燃やすという奇習がある。よほど太陽の光と熱のエネルギーにあやかりたいのだと思われるが、こんな児戯に類する行為を繰り返しても、確実な死が、その者たちにやってくるのだ。無駄な努力であろう。空海は、馬鹿だと言ってよいだろう。
