WIP Wednesday: Bloodstone, LLC
In this excerpt from an upcoming WBN story, Elsa explains the facts of supernatural life to her new clients, Laurel and Solange. After she's made them sign NDAs, of course. (BTW, Laurel is Elsa's ex-gf and Solange is Laurel's wife.)
*
On to business, she decided, before she embarrassed herself. She held out the envelope to Laurel. “I’ll need the both of you to sign these before we begin.”
Laurel dropped Solange’s hand to take the package. “What’s this?”
“Non-disclosure agreements,” Elsa said, keeping her tone carefully level. “Just routine, you understand.”
“Routine for who?” Solange asked, arching a perfect eyebrow.
“Me,” Elsa replied. “My team’s safety is my responsibility. They’re good people, and they’ll do their best to help you, but let’s just say the world is not kind to … unusual people … and we prefer to fly under the radar.”
Laurel had slid the sheaf of papers out and was speed-reading them. “This says we’re not allowed to discuss any personal details of the employees of Bloodstone, LLC, other than you.”
“Well, someone has to take the blame on Yelp,” Elsa said. “And my name’s on the paperwork.”
Solange skimmed the page in Laurel’s hand, then gave Elsa a long, measuring look. “Mutants?” she asked.
“Is that a problem?” Elsa replied, a little too sweetly.
“Hell, no,” Solange said, and unclipped the pen from inside the envelope.
“Splendid,” Elsa drawled as they signed. Then, under her breath, she muttered, “Not a word, boys. I’ll explain later.”
“What was that?” Solange asked.
“Nothing,” Elsa said. “All done?”
“All done!” Laurel handed the stack of pages back to her, now adorned with two sets of signatures.
“Excellent. Thank you.” Elsa stuck two fingers in her mouth and whistled sharply.
The back doors of the van swung open.
Barnes was the first one out, visibly scanning the house and the nearest treeline, and she could just imagine the furious whispered argument that had led to that, because he was striding across the driveway with his rolling infantryman’s walk before the front passenger door had so much as clicked open. Jack’s boots hit the ground next, and he trotted around the front of the van, his green twill jacket flapping in the breeze as he hurried to catch up to Barnes despite his slightly shorter legs.
Then Ted stepped out of the van, rising to his full red-eyed height against the golden sky as the van’s suspension creaked and settled back into its old configuration, and Laurel and Solange stopped breathing.
Elsa slid the NDAs back into the envelope with a snap, just as a reminder.
“Ladies,” Barnes said as he came to a military-precise stop a step behind Elsa. She didn’t have to look at him to know he had cracked his movie-star smile at them, and she stifled the urge to elbow him.
Jack arrived a heartbeat later with a cheerful, “Good afternoon!”, and whatever he was doing with his face made Laurel blush.
Elsa silently gave up all hope of retaining professional dignity. “Laurel Westfield, Solange Vinton, may I introduce my team. Jim here,” she bobbed her head toward Barnes as she used his chosen pseudonym (which was only a pseudonym for people who knew he disliked that version of his actual name, Jesus Christ, Barnes), “is our logistics and operations master. Jack,” she indicated the werewolf currently giving them a cheerful wave, “is our ritual expert,” she took a deep breath, “and Ted handles everything else.”
Ted gave an amiable rumble.
“Ted,” Solange repeated.
“Ted,” Elsa agreed, and lifted her packet of NDAs a little higher against her chest, holding them like she would a powerful grimoire.
Ted burbled.
“He says it’s lovely to meet you,” Jack translated.
“What do you do?” Solange asked, turning her face toward Elsa but flicking her eyes back toward Ted.
“Health and safety,” Elsa said blandly. “And marketing.”
She heard the little choking noise Jack made, but no one else seemed to react.

Horror Documentary Review: Sharksploitation
Tumblr media
Subgenre: Documentary
Gore Level: None (though animal lovers might be upset by some of the footage)
Do you remember the first time you saw Jaws? I was eight years old, and I watched my mother’s VHS copy on the floor in our living room with a bowl of sour cream and onion potato chips and a bottle of lemonade. I couldn’t help feeling unsettled (who doesn’t feel at least a teeny bit apprehensive while watching Jaws?), but more than anything, I was fascinated by it. Maybe it was because my household also had a VHS of a Discovery Channel documentary about sharks and their importance in the oceanic ecosystem that I loved watching as a kid, so I already had a pretty solid appreciation and healthy respect for sharks. I went on to read the novel for a bit of light summer reading before my junior year of high school, and I agree with Speilberg wholeheartedly: in Peter Benchley’s version of the story, the shark should have won. (Seriously. All of the other characters in the book are terrible.) All that’s to say, I’ve always thought that sharks are pretty cool. You’ve got to respect a species older than the dinosaurs that have survived multiple mass extinction events. (One of my favorite memories from summer trips to Galveston growing up was seeing a little bonnethead hanging around one of the fishing piers looking for tasty morsels.) That being said, I’m not generally a fan of shark films. Almost all of them are piggybacks of Jaws with horribly written storylines and terrible CGI. (Laugh at the “cheesy” mechanical shark all you want, but no one will ever convince me that CGI is better than the craftsmanship that goes into making physical props and effects.) Shark documentaries, on the other hand, are always on my radar – no pun intended – and a documentary on the subject of sharks and film and sharks in film was a natural choice. Sharksploitation delivered on my expectations.
Tumblr media
In A Nutshell:
Sharksploitation is an original documentary produced by Shudder and Sharksploitation, LLC, that follows the timeline of shark films from the early 20th century to the present and explores how the representation of sharks in cinema both reflects and influences their relationship with humanity. While Jaws is at the heart of the film, it features commentary on sharks in folklore, visual art, and film long predating the classic film, as well as contemporary depictions in the post-Jaws era, from experts ranging from filmmakers and marine biologists to actors and horror film historians, and Wendy Benchley, ocean conservationist and wife of Peter Benchley.
Sharksploitation begins by examining why so many people are drawn to shark movies and why sharksploitation films have such universal appeal that other exploitation genres don’t enjoy. Dr. Emily Zarka, professor and monster expert, defines sharksploitation as a genre that focuses on the idea of the “meta shark” – essentially, a monstrous, exaggerated idea of sharks with very little basis in actual reality. Roger Corman, producer of She Gods of Shark Reef (1958), Piranha (1978 – which, fun fact, was filmed here in Texas), and Sharktopus (2010), comments that people are drawn to shark movies because sharks are natural monsters, not fictional creations. As a land-lubber species, humans have a primal fear of being in the water and having something unseen grab hold of us. Sharks also contribute to thalassophobia – the fear of the ocean or large, deep bodies of water – to say nothing of the natural fear of being eaten alive. Mario Van Peebles, director of USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage (2016) and actor in Jaws: The Revenge (1987), sums it up: “[Sharksploitation] reminds us how frail and vulnerable we are, but ignites something in us on the adrenaline level that makes us feel alive.” This is likely a huge part of why Jaws was such a hit and continues to be exalted as a classic. While it was not the first film to feature undersea monsters (an early example is 1930’s The Sea Bat, which features a giant manta ray as the murderous marine star), it was the first to cast a shark in the villainous spotlight.
The film then explores how the image of sharks in media has evolved throughout human history. For centuries, sharks have been depicted as divine or ancestral spirits in the folklore of the Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, and Africa, sometimes offering help and protection to humans and often having the ability to shapeshift into a humanoid form. (A well-known example is the Hawaiian myth of Nanaue.) Even early films featuring sharks didn’t always portray them as evil; in Tabu: A Story of the South Seas (1931), the shark character is a god who protects the ocean (and also holds the distinction as the first rubber shark used in a film). These ancient folkloric tropes can still be seen today in films like Moana (2016) and Suicide Squad (2016). However, Dr. Zarka points out that when Western filmmakers began looking at sharks as cinematic exploration, they looked at real sharks rather than the rich body of folklore surrounding them.
Sharks began to be depicted in a more sinister light in the Enlightenment era of the eighteenth century. British artist J.M.W Truner painted them attacking African victims of the Zong massacre who were thrown or jumped from the ship (The Slave Ship, 1840), and the infamous oil painting Watson and the Shark (1778) by John Singleton Copley sensationalized the real-life story of an unfortunate cabin boy’s run-in with a shark in the waters near Havana, Cuba.
The 1916 Jersey Shore bull shark attacks lent credence to these unsettling depictions. Meanwhile, surfing was gaining popularity in Australia, inevitably leading to more human-shark interactions. World War II brought about the tragic USS Indianapolis incident. And during the filming of Shark! (1969), a stuntman who got too close to one of the real sharks in the water was killed on camera. In a tragic reversal, a shark was killed by the crew out of Blue Water, White Death (1971) out of fear and without provocation.
Peter Benchley wrote Jaws as “fiction based on fact” based on a story he heard about a fisherman who caught a 4,550 lb great white. At that time, the “rogue shark” theory – the idea that a shark who tastes human flesh will develop an appetite for it and stake its territory in waters where humans are known to participate in recreational activities – was popular among marine biologists. (The theory has since been discredited by most scientists, but it has contributed to controversial and largely ineffective shark control measures that have caused harm to shark populations around the world.) According to his wife, ocean conservationist Wendy Benchley, Peter did not subscribe to the theory, but director Stephen Spielberg DID run with it in the film adaptation.
Tumblr media
Jaws was groundbreaking on multiple fronts. It was the first summer blockbuster, one of the first films to show trailers as TV commercials, and the first film to have promotional merchandise on a mass-market scale. Jaws was also unique in that it made the shark itself a character in the story. It not only kickstarted the modern sharksploitation genre, but it also influenced other “animal horror” films like Orca (1977) and Grizzly (1976). Unfortunately, marine biologists and conservationists knew it spelled disaster for real sharks. Fishermen and vigilantes took it upon themselves to kill sharks as a preventative measure, mistakenly believing they were making beaches and fishing grounds safer, and some species have never recovered from that era. Subsequent films like Shark’s Treasure (1975), Mako: The Jaws of Death (1976 – which, oddly enough, is about a man who discovers he is telepathic with sharks and attempts to save them), and Tintorera (1977) involved the brutal on-camera deaths of real sharks to get the desired shots.
Sharksploitation films died out a little in the 90s in favor of sci-fi flicks (including a personal favorite of mine, 1993’s Jurassic Park), but 1999’s Deep Blue Sea brought the genre back into the limelight by combining sharksploitation with actual science (at least, what was accepted science at the time). Open Water (2003), loosely based on the true story of Thomas and Eileen Lonergan, was a more realistic film that piggybacked on the found-footage style of the Blair Witch Project (1999). Dr. Zarka comments that more contemporary films like Sharktopus (2010), Sharknado (2013), Ghost Shark (2013), and The Meg (2018) show an interesting evolution of the genre: “It’s like sharks can get you anywhere – pools, sinks, buckets of water, even fire hydrants on the street.” Dr. Zarka believes these films also speak to our modern desire to reconnect with the supernatural; “The idea that scientists could somehow find an ancient creature like the megalodon hiding out there is terrifying but also thrilling.”
Unfortunately, profit sometimes often gets in the way of distinguishing sensationalized fiction from reality. Discovery Channel’s annual Shark Week, once a celebrated educational program, broke the public trust in 2013 with the mockumentary Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives, which falsely suggested that the extinct prehistoric shark could still be roaming the world’s oceans today. In Sharksploitation, marine biologist Vicky Vasquez discusses how this misleading programming, alongside other pseudo-documentaries such as Animal Planet’s Mermaids: The Body Found (2012), has damaged marine conservation efforts by directing public attention away from real oceanic conservation efforts in favor of fantasy.
The film wraps up by acknowledging that the impact of Jaws on human-shark relations was not all negative. The original sharksploitation blockbuster inspired many young fans to pursue careers in oceanography and marine conservation. While it may have made some viewers scared to step into a bubble-filled bathtub, let alone the ocean, Jaws remains a beloved film to this day and is still considered an important piece of cinematic history. “In a way,” Dr. Zarka states near the film's end, “campy sharksploitation has made sharks less scary because of their ridiculousness. If we approach it as fun and an exaggeration and not as reality, I think we can appreciate it.”
Tumblr media
The WOW:
– Hands down, my favorite thing about this documentary was the way it traced the history of sharks in folklore, art, and film in almost a narrative arc. I haven’t seen many shark documentaries that acknowledge the important role of sharks in non-Western cultures. As someone passionate about folklore and mythology, I appreciated that this was addressed early in the film. Showing that sharks’ relationship with humanity has not always been negative was a thought-provoking and wise way to open the documentary.
– The vintage film and documentary footage were fun to watch and a great way to visualize the evolution of sharks in cinema. I think the commentators did a good job of making thoughtful comparisons between different films and film eras.
– What I appreciated the most about this documentary was that it featured a vast array of experts weighing in on the nature of sharksploitation. It may not seem like horror film historians, marine scientists, and action film actors have much in common, but I found each speaker had something insightful to share that contributed to the cross-disciplinary conversation. I was also pleased that Peter Benchley’s wife, Wendy Benchley, was given a spot in the film to speak about her late husband’s work as a writer and his subsequent career as a marine conservationist. I had always heard that Mr. Benchley later regretted writing Jaws due to the novel and film’s negative impact on sharks, and Wendy Benchley confirmed this to be true; before her husband died in 2006, he told her, “There’s no way I could write Jaws now.” The Meh:
– I don’t have too much in the way of criticism about Sharksploitation. If I had to offer one piece of critique, I would have liked to have heard more from the horror film historians featured in the film and their thoughts on how depictions of sharks in cinema might reflect the real-life social and political anxieties of the audience (one of my favorite topics to discuss concerning the horror genre, and especially now that eco-horror – which Jaws subsequent sharksploitation films could arguably fall under – is currently having a huge moment).
Final Thoughts:
If you’re a fan of Jaws, the horror genre, film history, or are interested in sharks in any capacity, I think you’ll enjoy Sharksploitation. It’s a well-made and fun documentary that will make you think differently about shark movies and why their appeal has endured for so long. And if somebody out there gets inspired to write a better screenplay than most of the shark films that have come out since Jaws – and bonus points if anyone is willing to build actual props for it – I will be the first one to buy tickets!

In response to Terry blackmailing Daniel...
If Terry stooped to blackmailing Daniel, I have no doubt he would make sure the blackmail content was top quality ;-)
Indisputable evidence, damning proof of their relationship's legitimacy. Terry using Daniel's modesty against him to keep him on the tightest of leashes while in the public lens.
Terry doesn't consider himself a cruel lover. For instance, Danny wants to attend his daughter's high school graduation. Well, well... Danny better stay cordial and be on his best behavior unless he wants the senior slideshow in the auditorium to be replaced with something more...titillating.
Terry has no shame. Why should he bother when he has PR teams to handle that. Easily enough, his company would paint the incident as a smear campaign against him led by an industry competitor. Dynatox would make a sizable donation to an anti-sexual violence charity foundation to prove his company's moral high ground.
It would be a PR success, igniting a viral social media effort to cancel his competitors. Dynatox stock prices would inflate from the media attention, and as a bonus, the donation to the charity foundation would be a neat and tidy tax write-off for the end of their fiscal year.
But Terry hopes it won't come to that. Corporate wealth be damned, he has enough wealth and assets to last several lifetimes. His true prized possession sits beside him in an uncomfortable metal folder chair, pulled close to his own, listening intently to his daughter, Samantha, proudly read her valedictorian speech to her graduating class.
Her speech concludes, and the audience erupts into applause. Terry glances down to his side to see Daniel, eyes misty as he claps his hands with proud enthusiasm, wiping his eyes on his sleeve discreetly to hide his tears from Terry. The ceremony reaches its end, the sound of metal chair legs scrapping against linoleum gym floor as the gymnasium crowd begin to shuffle from their seats.
Terry tugs lightly on Daniel's cufflink, releasing Daniel's hand from his own and unlinking their fingers that had been laced together for the entirety of the ceremony, per Terry's mandate as a condition to Daniel attending the event.
"That was lovely, Danny. You truly should be proud of Samantha's accomplishments," a smile breaks across Terry's face as he beams down affectionately at Daniel.
"I know, her speech..." Daniel trailed off, shaking his head in disbelief. "She must have gotten the public speaking from her mother. And a full scholarship to Berkeley? It's unreal, I had no idea Berkeley was even on her radar. Does the itinerary list what department awarded the scholarship?"
Terry feigns a quick half hearted pat down on the pockets of his blazer and frowns. "It seems the pamphlet must have gotten away from me." He smiles and shrugs incredulously at Daniel.
"We'll see if we can grab one on our way out," Terry murmurs to no one in particular, gathering his jacket.
Daniel doesn't need to know that Samantha's scholarship wasn't from Berkeley at all, but an anonymous LLC donor. Dynatox signed a new contract with Berkeley, contracting Dynatox as the sole waste management contractor for their expansive biomedical engineering department. With the industry discount Terry was giving them, of course the board of admissions was happy to oblige Terry for anything he wanted.
"Out? Already? But I haven't even congratulated-," Terry doesn't have to say anything, one sharp look at Daniel and his boy resigns himself quickly, nodding duly and mumbling that he agrees that it's time to leave. Terry's threat...or 'promise', to release their private video if Daniel steps out of line was still ringing in his ears.
The cold stare dissipatea and Terry nods warmly at Daniel's obedience, hooks his arm around Daniel's shoulders and guides him through the thronged crowd of proud parents, to a discreet fire exit in the back of the gymnasium, outside a black nondescript car idled in wait.
🐇 ❤️ 🐰 ❤️ 🐇 ❤️ 🐰 ❤️ 🐇 ❤️ 🐰 ❤️ 🐇
Terry threatens to fuck Daniel there,
To have everyone - not just Sam, Anthony, his ex-wife and his mother - but EVERYONE hear his screams of pleasure as he’s taken by Terry like some whore in the bathroom.
“So that everyone will know how much you like my cock up that gorgeous ass of yours,” he tells him the night before the big event, large hands on slender hips, digging in and Terry rails him within an inch of his life.
The older man is so deep he can feel each thrust in his throat.
“How you moan for it.”
Thrust.
“Scream for it.”
Thrust.
“Beg for it.”
Thrust.
“Bend over and spread for it.”
Thrust.
“How you were made to take it.”
Terry would probably fuck him raw before arriving - so that Daniel has the reminder of who he belongs to.
Normally that reminder would be in the form of damp underwear, his hole still wet but now, for this, it’s different.
Terry comes inside him still, of course, but instead of waiting for the telltale white to appear around the puffy used hole, he seals it all inside with a plug that he slips in while Daniel’s hole is still spasming invitingly.
Bad enough Daniel didn’t know it was going to happen - the plug - but worse still is the discreet remote in Terry’s pocket which he has no clue is there.
This is probably how Terry trains him in public.
Like a shock collar but for his ass.
The plug is nestled right up his prostate, snug, it’s not going anywhere, and to make matters worse, although Terry came, Daniel was not allowed to.
So Daniel is hard and on edge, and it’s bad enough it’s pressed just right and he has to be mindful of how he walks, how he moves, but his ass and prostate are extra sensitive from the pounding it took, so if Terry were to flick it on, his knees would buckle and he would, in theory, fall to the floor (in theory as Terry wouldn’t let that happen - wouldn’t let his boy fall).
But he would start off on the lowest setting, just enough to make him jerk; A warning that if he doesn’t behave it will get worse before it gets better.
But event though he promises he’ll behave, “I’ll be good Terry, you know I will, please Terry just turn it off,” the older man would slowly increase it, until Daniel couldn’t walk.
Really can you blame Terry though. His boy is ravishing anyway but when he begs he is beyond compare.
But it would keep increasing until all Daniel could do was just bend over and brace himself again something, panting, trying to bite off the moans that threaten to spill out, sweating and whimpering as it increases and increases.
His ass clenching around the toy, his hips jerking - trying to work with the you like he works with Terry when he’s being fucked.
Then he’s be made to come in his pants, wet spot appearing as the cum cools against this skin.
Or maybe Terry edges and edges and edges him until he’s crying and begging Terry to just let him come.
Daniel knows this will happen if he tries anything, because Terry demonstrated to him - in their bedroom - both versions- exactly what would happen - Fucking him, of course, after he had come, even though he was limp and wrung out from being made to come dry on the toy.
His boy’s tears, when they’re from this anyway, always make it that much sweeter.
I assume the blackmail one was this -
Because Terry totally would also blackmail Danny with the sex tape he made without his boy knowing.

So I found the person behind M1randa of Cal1 a while back on LinkedIn (again Miranda is not her name) and shared it here ~ well I decided to check in on the fiasco and just to put it on everyone’s radar they have removed Miranda of Cali and renamed it Elle VMH ~ after doing some digging this name is not yet registered and The Miranda LLC is still active. To the people who’s masters have been stolen it would be wise to keep an eye out for this supposed new company that does pretty much the same thing, that their dolls are not being marketed as this company’s product down the line. I wanted to share this on Insta but I also don’t want to fully doxx someone :/ cause that’s screwed up…. But yah know. Shitty behavior on their end.

Just watched The Farm and Thanksgiving just for the creepy, situation typa horror if you're into that. I'd say Thanksgiving was the more...morally tolerable of the 2 as there were moments in The Farm that I feel just went a little far. Like they were moments that were made for people who'd watch it out of curiosity of the torture that the antagonists implemented. Torture porn kinda thing. Definitely not for the story. And Thanksgiving was similar but just more on the entertainment side, rather than just plain gross. But the last actually really good horror movies I watched were Hell House LLC and As Above So Below. Those were REALLY good in pretty much every way. Hopefully this helps lol
Oooh I’ve been wanting to see Thanksgiving!!! That looked like fun lol. I’ve seen part of The Farm on tubi I think..?? But I cannot remember finishing it 😭
BUT OMG I LOVE HELL HOUSE LLC I watched it for the first time last year I think (maybe 2 years ago?) and it was sooo good. It freaked me out lol I was genuinely spooked!! I’ve never seen As Above So Below but it’s been on my radar for a little while! But now I’m definitely looking at it like 👀👀

Things you didn't know about Kathleen FL
Tumblr media
Nestled in Polk County, Florida, Kathleen is a small unincorporated community that often flies under the radar. Despite its modest size, this charming locale has a rich history and unique characteristics that set it apart from its neighbors. Here are some intriguing facts about Kathleen that might surprise you.
Founded in the late 19th century, Kathleen owes its name to the daughter of a prominent early settler. Unlike many Florida towns that boomed during the land rush, Kathleen maintained a quieter, more gradual growth, preserving much of its rural character.
One of Kathleen's claims to fame is its role in Florida's phosphate mining industry. The area was once home to significant phosphate deposits, and remnants of this industrial past can still be found in the landscape today. This history has shaped the community's development and economy over the years.
Kathleen is known for its excellent citrus groves, particularly its tangerines. The area's climate and soil conditions create ideal growing conditions for these sweet fruits, contributing to Florida's reputation as a citrus powerhouse.
Nature enthusiasts might be surprised to learn that Kathleen is home to several protected species. The threatened gopher tortoise and the endangered Florida scrub-jay both find refuge in the area's remaining natural habitats.
Despite its small size, Kathleen boasts a strong sense of community. The Kathleen Area Historical Society works tirelessly to preserve local history, maintaining archives and organizing events that celebrate the area's heritage.
Kathleen's location offers residents the best of both worlds – a quiet, rural lifestyle with easy access to urban amenities. It's just a short drive from Lakeland and within commuting distance of Tampa, making it an attractive option for those seeking a peaceful home base.
While it may not be a tourist hotspot, Kathleen's unique blend of history, nature, and community spirit makes it a hidden gem in central Florida. Its story is a reminder that sometimes, the most interesting places are those quietly tucked away, waiting to be discovered.

How to Choose the Right Tree Service
Choosing the right tree service is essential for maintaining the health and beauty of your trees while ensuring safety and professionalism. Here are some key tips to help you make the best choice:
Check Credentials: Ensure the tree service company is licensed, insured, and certified. This protects you from liability in case of accidents and guarantees that the team is qualified.
Experience Matters: Look for a company with a proven track record. Lyons Family Tree Care, for instance, has been serving Kathleen, FL, and surrounding areas since 2008, demonstrating expertise and reliability.

Ask for References: A reputable company should provide references or reviews from past clients. This gives you insight into their quality of work and customer satisfaction.
Safety First: Ensure the company follows industry safety standards. Ask about their safety protocols and equipment to prevent accidents and damage to your property.
Comprehensive Services: Choose a company that offers a range of services in Kathleen FL, from tree trimming and removal to stump grinding and emergency services. This ensures all your tree care needs are met by one reliable provider.
By following these guidelines, you can confidently choose a tree service that maintains the beauty and safety of your property.

US Sanctions Rosneft Subsidiary and its President for Venezuelan Oil Trade
On 18 February 2020, OFAC designated the Switzerland-based oil broker Rosneft Trading SA (“Rosneft Trading”), a subsidiary of Rosneft Oil Company, and its president Didier Casimiro, as Specially Designated Nationals (“SDN’s”) for “operating in the oil sector of the Venezuelan economy,” under Executive Order 13850.
These designations do not change the status of the parent entity Rosneft Oil, which remains on the SSI List.
For current business partners of Rosneft Trading, OFAC has issued a General License, No 36, which authorises until 20 May 2020 “all transactions and activities prohibited by” Executive Order 13850 “that are ordinarily incident and necessary to the wind down of transactions involving Rosneft Trading S.A., or any entity in which Rosneft Trading S.A. owns, directly or indirectly, a 50 percent or greater interest.”
In addition to the 20 May termination date, this general license does not authorise “[a]ny debit to an account of Rosneft Trading S.A., or any entity in which Rosneft Trading S.A. owns, directly or indirectly, a 50 percent or greater interest, on the books of a U.S. financial institution,” or any other transactions that are prohibited by OFAC.
That said, the designation of Didier Casimiro as an SDN should stay on the radar of any company considering to engage in business with him, or any of the entities that he may arguably control.  In addition to serving as Rosneft Trading’s president, Casimiro is a member of Rosneft Oil’s Executive Management Board as the Vice President of Refining, Petrochemical, Commerce and Logistics. Casimiro does not own or currently hold a dominant minority interest in Rosneft Oil.  Casimiro is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the following entities:
PJSC Saratov Refinery;
Rosneft – MP Nefteprodukt;
CJSC Rosneft-Armenia;
LLC RN-Yerevan;
LLC RN-Commerce; and
LLC RN-Refining.
Furthermore, Casimero is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at PRJSC LINIK, and member of the Board of Directors at OJSC NGK Slavneft, OJSC NGK Slavneft-YANOS, Rosneft Global Trade S.A., JSC SPIMEX, Rosneft Techno S.A., PJSOC Bashneft, LLC RN-Foreign Projects, Nayara Energy Limited, and SIA ITERA Latvija.

Religious Discrimination, Accommodation, and Harassment in the Workplace
Tumblr media
A Fireside Chat with EEOC General Counsel Karla Gilbride and Chicago District Director Amrith Kaur Aakre
Tumblr media
What religious discrimination issues should be on employers’ radar a year after Supreme Court ruling in Groff v. DeJoy?
youtube
Bring your questions to our interactive Fireside Chat with EEOC legal experts General Counsel Karla Gilbride and Chicago District Director Amrith Kaur Aakre for an update on important issues such as religious accommodation and religious harassment.
EOC SUES TWO EMPLOYERS FOR SEX DISCRIMINATION
Federal Agency Charges That the Companies Discriminated Against Employees Because of Their Sexual Orientation and/or Gender Identity
MOBILE, Ala. and CHICAGO – Harmony Hospitality LLC, which operates a Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel in Dothan, Alabama, and LAS Hardwoods, a hardwood flooring company in the Chicago area, violated federal civil rights law when they each discriminated against an employee because of his sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or failure to adhere to gender stereotypes, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in two separate lawsuits filed today.
According to the Alabama lawsuit, Harmony fired a night auditor after management observed him styled and dressed in a manner they perceived to be feminine and that differed from management’s preferred appearance for male employees.
The agency claims that the company’s management learned about the employee’s sexual orientation and gender identity when his supervisor opposed asking the employee to change his appearance to align with management’s gender stereotypes.
In its complaint, the agency alleges that Harmony’s management terminated the night auditor mere hours after the supervisor informed them that the employee is gay and identifies as “more feminine.”
And, in the Illinois lawsuit, the EEOC alleges that LAS Hardwoods created a hostile work environment for a sales associate because of his sexual orientation. The agency alleges that the employee was harassed, including being subject to the frequent use of gay slurs, because of his perceived feminine style of dress, speech and mannerisms. The agency claims that the company ignored the employee’s complaints and did nothing to stop the harassment by various managers and employees.
“During this Pride month, we want workers to know that they should be able to work in any job without fear of being harassed or fired because of who they are or who they love,” said EEOC General Counsel Karla Gilbride. “Federal civil rights law, as interpreted by the Supreme Court in Bostock v. Clayton County, makes it illegal to discriminate against an employee for their sexual orientation or gender identity, and the EEOC will vigorously enforce those protections.”
Such alleged conduct violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employment discrimination because of sex, including discrimination because of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender stereotypes. The EEOC filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama (EEOC v. Harmony Hospitality LLC, case no. 1:24-cv-00357) and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (EEOC v. LAS Hardwoods, Inc., Civil Action No. 1:24-cv-04899) after first attempting to reach pre-litigation settlements through its administrative conciliation process.
EEOC Birmingham District Director Bradley Anderson said, “It is illegal for an employer to fire an employee because of their sex. Title VII’s prohibition on sex discrimination bars discrimination based on an employee’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or departure from gender stereotypes.”
Marsha Rucker, regional attorney for the EEOC’s Birmingham District, said, “Federal law guarantees all employees equal employment opportunity regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. As the federal agency charged with enforcing Title VII, the EEOC will always work to protect Americans from unlawful sex-based discrimination.”
Amrith Kaur Aakre, district director of the Chicago District Office, added, “The EEOC is committed to making our country’s workplaces safe for all employees, regardless of their sexual orientation.”
“Just like other forms of harassment, workplace harassment because of an individual’s sexual orientation violates federal law,” said Gregory Gochanour, regional attorney for the EEOC’s Chicago District Office. “Our agency will hold employers accountable if they allow this type of inexcusable conduct to occur.”
For more information on sex-based discrimination, please visit https://www.eeoc.gov/sex-based-discrimination.
The EEOC’s Birmingham District Office is responsible for processing charges of discrimination, administrative enforcement and the conduct of agency litigation in Alabama, Mississippi (except 17 northern counties) and the Florida Panhandle, with an Area Office in Jackson and a Local Office in Mobile.
The EEOC’s Chicago District Office is responsible for processing charges of discrimination, administrative enforcement and the conduct of agency litigation in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and North and South Dakota, with Area Offices in Milwaukee and Minneapolis.
