To justify the above statement, various state legislatures have enacted an Act exclusively focusing on welfare of the workers, known as the Labour Welfare Fund Act. The Labour Welfare Fund Act incorporates various services, benefits and facilities offered to the employee by the employer. Such facilities are offered by the means of contribution from the employer and the employee. However, the rate of contribution may differ from one state to another.

The time limit for online contributions of employer-employee extended by Maharashtra Labour Welfare Board
The time limit for online contributions of employer-employee was extended by Maharashtra Labour Welfare Board from February 15, 2020 to February 29, 2020.
Maharashtra Labour Welfare Fund has become effective in the year 1953 and is applicable to all the companies in the state that has 5 or more persons employed, who are considered contract labours as per the Act.  Includes all employee, including employee through contractor, except those working in the managerial or supervisory position and drawing wages more than Rs. 3,500/- per month.
These funds are considered as fringe benefits since they are offered through collective contribution which is supported by employee, employer who contributes three-times of the amount contributed by the employee and the state government.
The Maharashtra Labour Welfare Board had started online welfare fund payment system on January 01, 2020. The establishments are required to upload their employees’ details.
Therefore, as per the request made by various establishments, the time limit for making an online employer-employees contributions has been extended till February 29, 2020.
