Moon Land in Ladakh: A Traveller's Guide
Tumblr media
You must have heard about your lands but have you heard about your "Moon Land" so today we will tell you about the moon land. Lamayuru which is called the Moon land of Ladakh which we will talk about in this vlog. Built on the rugged land of the Indian Himalayas, this is a small village in Ladakh. This unique destination is famous for its surreal and supernatural terrain, which is very similar to the surface of the moon.
Moonland is 125 km west of Leh. If you are going to Ladakh or planning to go then you must include Lamayuru in your itinerary. You will get to see the beauty of Ladakh which will make you feel like being on the land of the moon.
Tumblr media
After all, what is so special about Lamayuru that makes it different and beautiful, its appearance is like a moon and it is surrounded by broken and barren mountains. Its shape is formed by the erosion of wind and water over centuries. Its structure has large peaks and valleys around it which give the feeling of being on the moon.
It is said that millions of years ago Ladakh was submerged in the Tethis Ocean and when the Indian subcontinent collided with the Eurasian plate, the sea floor rose up to form the Himalayan mountain range. The structure of moonland is the remains of ancient marine sediments which are seen today after centuries of air pressure.
Tumblr media
Lamayuru village is also home to one of the most important monasteries of Ladakh. It was founded in the 11th century by Mahasiddhacharya Naropa.
If you are thinking or planning to visit Lamayuru then the best time is between May to September. During this time the weather is favorable and the roads are also open. In this weather the sky is clear and the mountains look very beautiful which is very good for photography.

To prepare for icy adventures, it's crucial to begin with the first layer. A high-quality first layer can enhance the effectiveness of your subsequent layers by providing breathability, moisture-wicking, and insulation without adding bulk. In cold weather, a lightweight and efficient next-to-skin layer is essential to ensure optimal functionality. Heavy thermals that fail to wick moisture can make extreme conditions unbearable for active individuals. Therefore, it's advisable to choose high-performance baselayers for your next cold weather expedition and stay safe in frigid temperatures. Get yours @ https://trekkit.in/collections/baselayers
