Ouuugh fuck yes the opthalmologist said I appear to be a strong candidate for LASIK :3c gotta coordinate with my other doctors for their opinions, but just this year my eyes finally stabilized enough to even HAVE these conversations in the first place!!! It probably wouldn't be something I pull the trigger on for at least another year, but very exciting to not be eliminated as a candidate bc of my autoimmune stuff :') it was also super cool as always to learn how providers explain some of these conditions + procedures on a patient level then a clinical level. Eager to talk shop with the opthalmology SME on my team :3

LASIK vs SMILE: Understanding the Costs and Benefits for Eye Surgery
When considering corrective eye surgery, it’s essential to weigh your options between LASIK and SMILE, two of the most advanced procedures available today. Both techniques are highly effective in treating refractive errors like myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism, but they differ in terms of surgical method, recovery, and cost. Understanding these differences can help you make an informed decision, especially if you’re considering undergoing the surgery in Delhi, where leading surgeons offer state-of-the-art facilities.
While researching vision correction procedures, patients also look for the best cataract treatments available. It's vital to know how advanced technology has influenced both LASIK and SMILE, but also understand that finding the best cataract surgeon in Delhi is equally critical for individuals with cataracts.
What Is LASIK?
LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, has been the most popular form of laser eye surgery for decades. During this procedure, a small flap is created on the cornea using a laser or microkeratome blade. The surgeon then reshapes the corneal tissue to correct refractive errors. LASIK is known for its quick recovery time, with many patients experiencing significant vision improvement within 24 hours.
In Delhi, many eye care centers provide this surgery, and finding the best doctor for cataract surgery in Delhi is often combined with inquiries about LASIK. This is because specialists who perform cataract surgery are usually skilled in refractive surgeries like LASIK.
What Is SMILE?
SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is a more recent advancement in laser eye surgery, offering a minimally invasive alternative to LASIK. Rather than creating a corneal flap, SMILE involves creating a small incision in the cornea, through which a thin layer of tissue (the lenticule) is removed to reshape the cornea. The absence of a flap in SMILE reduces the risk of complications, such as dry eye and flap dislocation, making it an attractive option for many.
For those seeking this advanced technique, SMILE eye surgery in Delhi is available at top-rated eye care centers. These centers often have surgeons who specialize in both SMILE and LASIK, making it easier to choose based on your specific needs.
Key Differences Between LASIK and SMILE
1. Surgical Technique
LASIK: Requires a flap to be created in the cornea, which is lifted for laser reshaping.
SMILE: Involves a smaller incision and no flap creation, making it a less invasive procedure.
2. Recovery Time
LASIK: Most patients experience clear vision within a day, with minimal discomfort.
SMILE: Recovery can be slightly longer, but since no flap is created, the procedure is considered gentler on the eye.
3. Complication Risks
LASIK: There is a slight risk of flap-related complications, such as dislocation or dry eye.
SMILE: Fewer post-operative complications since no flap is created.
4. Candidate Suitability
LASIK: Suitable for a wider range of vision problems, including severe astigmatism.
SMILE: Primarily used to correct nearsightedness and mild astigmatism.
When choosing between LASIK and SMILE, it’s important to consult with the best doctor for cataract surgery in Delhi or a specialized eye surgeon. They can assess your eyes and recommend the most suitable procedure based on your eye condition, lifestyle, and visual goals.
Costs of LASIK vs SMILE in Delhi
Both procedures offer excellent vision correction, but the lasik vs smile cost varies based on several factors such as the surgeon’s expertise, the technology used, and the hospital or clinic where the procedure is performed. Typically, SMILE is more expensive than LASIK due to its minimally invasive nature and the advanced laser technology involved.
If you’re looking for the best cataract hospital in Delhi or a center that offers both LASIK and SMILE, many reputable eye care centers provide transparent pricing and offer detailed consultations to help you understand the costs and benefits of each procedure. Additionally, choosing the best cataract surgeon in Delhi ensures you’re in the hands of a professional who can also perform laser surgeries with high success rates. The cost of SMILE eye surgery in Delhi is slightly higher than LASIK, reflecting the newer technology and reduced complications associated with the procedure.

Can Lasik Surgery Correct Vision Problems Caused by Corneal Endotheliopathies?
If you’re dealing with vision problems from corneal endotheliopathies, you might be wondering if Lasik Surgery in Bangalore can help. At The Eye Foundation, I, Dr. Gitansha Shreyas Sachdev, have treated many patients with various vision issues, but Lasik isn’t always the right solution for every case. In this article, I'll explain if Lasik is a good fit for your condition and go over other treatments that might work better for you.
Understanding Corneal Endotheliopathies
Corneal endotheliopathies are conditions that affect the inner layer of the cornea, known as the endothelium. This thin layer of cells helps keep the cornea clear by regulating fluid balance. When this layer is damaged or dysfunctional, it can lead to corneal swelling, cloudiness, and vision issues. Some common types of corneal endotheliopathies include:
Fuchs' dystrophy
Posterior polymorphous dystrophy
Iridocorneal endothelial syndrome (ICE)
These conditions can cause a range of symptoms such as blurred vision, light sensitivity, and eye discomfort.
What Is Lasik Surgery?
Lasik (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a popular refractive eye surgery used to correct common vision problems like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. During the procedure, a laser is used to reshape the cornea, improving how the eye focuses light onto the retina.
Lasik is highly effective for many people looking to reduce their dependence on glasses or contact lenses, but it is not always suitable for all eye conditions, especially those involving the corneal endothelium.
Can Lasik Surgery Correct Vision Problems Caused by Corneal Endotheliopathies?
In most cases, Lasik surgery is not recommended for patients with corneal endotheliopathies. Since Lasik involves reshaping the cornea’s surface, it does not address the underlying issues in the corneal endothelium. If the endothelium is already compromised, Lasik could potentially worsen corneal swelling and lead to further vision problems.
Points to Consider Before Deciding on Surgery
If you're considering Lasik surgery, it’s essential to consult an eye specialist who can evaluate whether the procedure is right for you. Here are some points to consider:
Comprehensive Eye Examination: A thorough evaluation will determine the health of your cornea and whether you have any underlying conditions like corneal endotheliopathies.
Other Vision Problems: Lasik may be suitable for correcting refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism) but won’t address other issues like glare, halos, or light sensitivity caused by corneal endotheliopathies.
Alternative Solutions: Be open to exploring alternative treatments like corneal transplants or specialty contact lenses that may better suit your condition.
Conclusion
If you're unsure whether Lasik surgery is right for your vision issues, it's important to seek expert advice. At The Eye Foundation, our team provides personalized recommendations based on your eye health. Whether you’re considering Lasik Surgery in Bangalore or exploring other treatments for corneal endotheliopathies, we're here to guide you.

Signs You Need an Eye Check-Up: Don't Ignore These Symptoms
Regular eye check-ups are essential for maintaining good vision and overall eye health. However, many people neglect their eyes until they notice a problem. It's crucial to recognize early signs that indicate the need for an eye check-up to prevent minor issues from becoming major problems. Here are some symptoms you should never ignore, as they may indicate the need for a comprehensive eye check-up in Indore.
1. Frequent Headaches
If you’ve been experiencing frequent headaches, especially after prolonged periods of reading, screen time, or focusing on nearby objects, it could be a sign of eye strain. Often, this results from uncorrected vision problems such as farsightedness, nearsightedness, or astigmatism. Headaches can also signal the need for updated prescription lenses if you already wear glasses or contacts. Scheduling an appointment with an eye doctor in Indore can help you determine the root cause of these headaches and provide relief.
2. Blurry Vision
Blurry vision is one of the most obvious signs that your eyesight may be declining. It may be temporary, such as after staring at a screen for too long, or it could be an ongoing issue. If you find it difficult to see distant objects, read small print, or your vision seems foggy, it’s time to visit an eye specialist. Blurry vision can be caused by refractive errors, cataracts, or other eye conditions.
3. Eye Pain or Discomfort
Experiencing pain, discomfort, or a sensation of pressure in your eyes is a red flag that should not be ignored. Eye pain can result from various issues, including eye infections, dry eyes, or more severe problems like glaucoma or corneal ulcers. If you’re experiencing persistent eye pain, schedule an appointment with an eye doctor in Indore as soon as possible.
4. Difficulty Seeing at Night
Struggling with night vision, such as difficulty driving at night or seeing in low-light environments, may be a sign of an underlying eye condition. Night vision problems are often associated with cataracts or vitamin A deficiency.
5. Floaters or Flashes of Light
Floaters are small, shadowy shapes that drift across your field of vision. Occasional floaters are normal, but a sudden increase in their frequency, or seeing flashes of light, could indicate a serious condition like a retinal detachment. Retinal detachment can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated immediately, so seeking an urgent check-up with an eye doctor in Indore is critical if you experience these symptoms.
6. Double Vision
Double vision, or diplopia, is a condition in which you see two images of a single object. It can be caused by eye muscle problems, neurological issues, or corneal irregularities. Double vision can also indicate more serious health problems like stroke or brain injury. If you experience double vision, seek medical attention right away and schedule an eye check-up to identify the cause.
7. Sensitivity to Light
Increased sensitivity to light, also known as photophobia, can result from several conditions, including migraines, dry eyes, or infections. Photophobia may also be a sign of a more severe problem, such as uveitis (inflammation of the eye).
Your eyes are a vital part of your overall health, and any changes in vision should be taken seriously. If you experience any of these symptoms, don't delay in seeking medical advice. A comprehensive eye check-up in Indore can help diagnose and treat eye conditions before they worsen, ensuring that your vision remains clear and healthy for years to come. Take action today by visiting a qualified eye doctor in Indore to protect one of your most precious senses—your sight.
