C++ for those who asked
Long Post Is Long, so there's a readmore here
I have never programmed before and I want to start with C++
You are possibly an idiot, but go ahead. You'll want Microsoft Visual Studio Community Edition as your programming environment. Once that is installed (During install, remember to ask for the C++ component), start your actual learning at: LearnCpp.
I have programmed before and I have reason to learn C++
Start at "A Tour of C++" by Bjarne Stroustrup, out in third edition as of September 2022.
I would recommend watching Louis Brandy's talk "Curiously Recurring Bugs at Facebook" which doesn't teach you C++ but rather reveals something about what kind of language C++ is, lets you check the Vibe.
And what's next?
Probably still good to read through LearnCpp.
Scott Meyers wrote some good books:
Effective C++ 3rd Edition
Effective STL
More Effective C++
Effective Modern C++
Read in that order. "Effective Modern C++" expands and does not replace "Effective C++"
You should also familiarize yourself with the existence of the Core Guidelines - you're probably not going to sit down and read them end-to-end (...yet) but it's good to know they exist.
Do you know other good books
Yes but... good for what? It's hard to give generic advice here - what are you getting into?
Do you know other good conference talks?
Well define "good" right? But I have a bunch that are interesting, does that count?
Kate Gregory is good at everything:
Simplicity, Not Just For Beginners - General coding principles rather than C++
What Do We Mean When We Say Nothing At All? - What are the defaults, and are they good? (No)
Naming is Hard: Let's Do Better
Other talks
Carl Cook: "When a Microsecond is an Eternity: High Performance Trading Systems in C++"
I want to learn Template Metaprogramming
No you don't
Yes I do
No you don't. You maybe want to solve some kinds of problems that are, from a performance perspective, best solved with template metaprogramming, but you don't "want to learn template metaprogramming" because you are not a fool.
If you have TMP problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but untestable, undebuggable compile-time conditional code generation ain't one.
Still, if you insist: "Back to Basics: Templates in C++" by Nicolai Josuttis gets you template programming, which lays down the foundation for metaprogramming. You go where I will not follow.
I need to leave for a job interview, post will be expanded later.

This, but also technology can make an interesting hobby, too. By technology I don't mean scrolling. Learn programming. Learn electronics. Learn graphic design. You don't have to know everything at once. Start small. Make a simple website or program, even if it's just a few lines of code. Or a gif. Or a DC/DC converter. Code a simple Arduino program. You don't have to know many programming languages or know how to design PCBs or build robots. Just start. Most necessary resources are available online.
Here's an Arduino course
A Coursera Introduction to Electronics course
A YouTube Power Electronics course from University of Colorado
Gimp Tutorials
W3Schools HTML Tutorials
LearnCpp C++ tutorials
Alison Soldering course
Arduino projects
Raspberry Pi for beginners course
Raspberry Pi projects
JavaScript tutorials
And there are many other resources. Just search for it, find something interesting and start doing it. Scrolling on your phone for hours is a waste of time and it's harmful for your brain, but technology is far more than just scrolling.
In terms of like, Please For The Love Of God Get Hobbies That Aren't Scrolling Through An App For Six Hours A Day, I understand and experience completely the argument of like. with the stressors of modern work, you don't have the energy at the end of the day to do anything but mindlessly watch Netflix and scroll through your phone. but like I would like to gently encourage you to simply force yourself for a time to do something instead of pick up your phone, bc the phone is literally designed to light up your brain with no effort from you whatsoever and it does in fact rot your brain. It makes literally anything but scrolling on your phone seem difficult and joyless. But if you stop scrolling on your phone all the time, and start like, reading or embroidering or gardening or going for walks, you will eventually find the joy in them once more
I understand and it is true that it is hard to have a life outside work and scrolling but there is not a near future where that won't be the case and you should still live a life. And you won't create a future where that isn't the case if you don't have the confidence and experience and drive to fight for it

C++ from the base
Hi In this series I’m going to post tutorials for c++ and algorithms starting from the base for even people who don’t know what programming is . because of that I’m not going to go deep into pointers and beneath the skin of c++ for now later if anyone wanted I will . this is just how I started learning c++ when I was first year highschool Here we go : Coding uses a language like c++ In normal human languages we use sentences to let others know what we think / want in programming we use “statements “ to tell the compiler what we want it to do Most statements end with a semicolon in the end in c++ statement are made of variables , commands , function calls ETC Here are some basic statements on c++ Int x ; It’s a declaration statement , it tells the compiler that “x” is an integer variable a variable is anything that holds a region of computer’s memory and you can assign values to it in different types such as : integers ( numbers) , strings ( made up of concatenating characters ) , bool ( Boolean : true or false ) we will explore these later X = 10 ; Is an assignment statement it tell the compiler to store value 10 as an integer in x cout << x ; Is an output statement , it tells the compiler to print the value stored in x These statement contained commands and c++ stores these syntaxes and commands in things called library and when you want to use a command you should add the library at the top your code file . basic ones are in “iostream” And you can add it by putting “ #include <iostream>” but if you just put “#include <bits/stdc++.h>” it automatically adds all the libraries :D yet your code run slightly slower you even realize it and it doesn’t really matter . Functions : Functions are group of statements used frequently in your code , so instead of writing them over and over you just write it once in a function then call everytime you need When compiler starts to read your code it always starts from the function main () { } You can see the base of your code here #include <iostream> main() { } Now if I write #include <iostream> main() { int x ; x = 10 ; cout << x ; } My code outputs 10 go ahead and try ! :D
So this is the basic of c++ I will make the posts longer later on just let me know if this way is good or if you guys want more / less explanation ! just send me feedback ! :D And this is a written code of all of it [ I used some other functions that I will explain in the next post so don’t worry ! its alright ] // base format - > http://paste.ubuntu.com/15262064/
