"When you're young and you fall off a horse, you may break something. When you're my age and you fall off, you splatter." —Roy Rogers (singer, USA, 20th cent.)
While you can retain vigor and energy even into your old age, one thing is near certain: youthful people are usually quicker and more able to adapt to situations. When something about your circumstances changes (you have to move to a new location, for example), how rooted you are into your current life influences how able you are to go along with the changes. Young people are more likely to respond to changes—both good and bad—simply because they have not had the time to become totally implanted in their surroundings. This is one thing that the young have over the old: adaptability.
