Night of the Scarecrow (1974)

In this western fantasy musical, a talking Scarecrow (played by singer Alceu Valença) narrates the story of two men, Zé Tulão, the cowherd who leads the peasants to reinvidicate their rights, and Zé do Cão, the henchman of a rich colonel, who works to drive the peasants out of their lands so they can be sold to a dragon (who is lady in a dragon suit, its glorious). Their fight comes to a special heat when the two dispute the love of the same woman, Maria do Grotão.

Cria Cuervos (1975)

In Madrid, orphan sisters Irene, Ana, and Maite are raised by their austere aunt Paulina and their mute, crippled grandmother after the deaths of their mother and their military father Anselmo. Ana is a melancholic girl, fascinated by death, after watching her mother having a painful death and her father dead in bed.

Alenkiy tsvetochek (1977)

1970s live action adaptation of the russian variant of Beauty and the Beast, that fortunally has its own touches and avoids being a shot by shot remake of 1950s animated short. Lev Durov is a merchant, living in a fairytale Russia of hundreds of years ago. When he is making a journey to market, his three daughters each ask for a present to be brought back. But a magic spell is cast on him, and they need to go and find him. In doing so, one falls in love with a tree-spirit.

Jak se budi princezny (1977)

The king Dalimil and the queen Eliska waited to see a longed-for offspring - a daughter Ruzenka. But Eliska's envious and bad sister Melánie curses her. When Ruzenka becomes 17 years old she will prick her finger and she will fall asleep for ages together with the entire kingdom. To stop the curse, Dalimil and Elizka banish every pointy object from the kingdom, and intend to wed her to Jiri, Prince Heir of a Neighbouring Kingdom, so she can leave the kingdom and the curse. But Ruzenka falls in love with Jaroslav, Jiri's younger brother who is no heir to the throne and as such can't take her as queen of another kingdom. Despite all that, Ruzenka fights to proove that her love is more strong than destiny and death combined.

Cross of Iron (1977)

In 1943, on the Russian front, decorated leader Rolf Steiner (James Coburn) is promoted to Sergeant after another successful mission. Meanwhile, upper-class arrogant Prussian Captain Hauptmann Stransky (Maximilian Schell) is assigned as the new commander of his squad. After a bloody battle of Steiner's squad against the Russian troops led by the brave Lieutenant Meyer (Igor Galo), who dies in combat, the coward Stransky claims that he led his squad against the Russian and requests to be awarded with the Iron Cross to satisfy his personal ambition together with that of his aristocratic family. Stransky gives the names of Steiner and of the homosexual Lieutenant Triebig (Roger Fritz) as witnesses of his accomplishment, but Steiner, who has problems with the Army's chain of command and with Stransky's arrogance, refuses to participate in the fraud. When Colonel Brandt (James Mason) and Captain Kiesel (David Warner) gives the order to leave the position in the front, Stransky does not retransmit the order to Steiner's squad, and they are left alone, surrounded by the enemy and have to fight to survive.

The Canterbury Tales (1972)

Pier Paolo Pasolini's adaptation of some of tales from the famous Chaucer anthology, a british-italian coproduction with emphasis on the comic, erotic and violent aspects of the tales, staring Hugh Griffith, Josephine Chaplin, Alan Webb, Franco Citti, Ninetto Davoli and Tom Baker.
