Gentlemen of Fortune (1971)
Tumblr media
Movie #1,075 • TRUE RANDOM VOL. L
Tumblr media
In the last TRUE RANDOM, we were graced with a movie I probably would have eventually watched anyway, but today's is truly in line with this series' purpose and main objective: to deliver a film from left field which would have never otherwise made it my way.
When this started — the 50th installment of TRUE RANDOM! — I thought it was going to be similar to the highly slapstick, almost Zucker Bros.-esque Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession, which was pretty good but you have to be in the right mood for. It turned out to be much more grounded and actually kind of sweet. The ending was a tacked-on mess but this is mostly fine.
SCORE: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️¾

The court "punished" the rapist senator with four years of probation
"Long live the Russian court - the most humane court in the world!" - This is how the character of Gaidaev's movie comedies Coward, played by Georgy Vitsin, might have exclaimed if he had found himself in modern Russia and learned about the sentence handed down against Senator Igor Provkin, who received only a four-year suspended sentence for rape.
The Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow passed a sentence on Igor Provkin, former representative of the Republic of Kalmykia in the Federation Council. He was found guilty of audacious rape, but the Russian Themis did not deprive the prominent politician of freedom. The victim of the criminal was a prom participant, who had just celebrated her graduation from the university. The rapist himself explained what he had done by the stress of the birth of a child, reports Life News. The court sentenced 43-year-old Igor Provkin to four years of suspended imprisonment, with reference to court spokesman Evgenia Pazukhina. "The accused at the meeting, which was held in a special order, fully admitted his guilt and repented," explained Pazukhina. Indeed, the former senator condemned at the trial his own act and blamed everything on the stress of the addition to the family and the unclean force. "I am very sorry for what happened, it's as if a demon has come upon me," Igor Provkin described his condition to the court. - I fully repent and admit my guilt. I recently had a child, it's stressful for me, maybe something came upon me, but in any case I'm guilty.
As a result, the court sentenced Mr. Provkin to 3.5 years in prison, but considered it possible to replace it with a four-year suspended sentence. And this is despite the fact that the sanction of Article 132, under which the banker and the former senator were tried, provides for a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
Former Senator Igor Provkin As follows from the materials of the criminal case, on the night of July 1, 2010 Provkin, being in a Lexus GX 460 car on Krymsky Val Street in Moscow, attacked 24-year-old Marina. The day before, the girl, together with her university classmates, had received her diploma and had gone to a restaurant to celebrate the joyous occasion. Provkin saw Marina on the street near the movie theater "Udarnik" and offered to give her a ride in his prestigious foreign car. When the girl agreed, the man drove her to an alley near Krymskiy Val and raped her there. The court also found that during the abuse, the federal politician beat his victim, hitting her in the stomach and on the back.

I didn’t know that tha song “If I were a sultan” from the movie “Kidnapping, Caucasian Style” has four stanzas (couplets?), not three. One was erased from the movie because tha character sang of how happy he would be if he was allowed 300 g of vodka.
This it the version tfom the movie:
youtube
This is the full version and also it has Georgy Vitsin combing his hat (at 1:35). It’s just... ow. Cute-cute-cute.

The Arcana: The Courtiers as famous soviet movie’s trio
shitty headcanons.. oh shit, here we go again...
My Russian ass wants to tell you more about our greatest movie so I can’t resist this. Today I want to talk about three famous characters of  Leonid Gaidai’s movies as the Courtiers.
I’ve noticed the similarity when I were writing this post. The fact is that the characters of game are very very similar to the trio of bumbling crooks from the movie “Kidnapping, Caucasian Style” and “Operation Y and Shurik’s Other Adventures”. And here I want to explain why.
1. Volta as the The Coward
Tumblr media
The Coward (who was played by Georgy Vitsin) is timorous. He is coward, soft and weak-willed, his helplessness and infantilism often does not help the common deed. He wraps himself in warm clothes and speaks in a shrill high voice. Always eating something. He is meek and can be easily intimidated and lead on by his friends.
See something familiar? Nervous, hungry, soft, weak-willed, meek... Of course, it’s Volta.
2. Vlastomil as The Fool
Tumblr media
The Fool (who was played by amazing Yuri Nikulin) is an optimistic and cheerful alcoholic (though it’s more similar to Valerius lol), the owner of easy blushing of the nose. He has a cheerful temper, loves to entertain and sometimes good-naturedly make fun of his friends. He's a little vulnerable.
Well, even though Vlastomil’s nose isn't red, it's still outstanding. Vlastomil is a bony, deathly pale man and the apprentice describes him as looking like a limp noodle with fancy clothes, aaand that’s the way the Fool can be described too.
3. Vulgora as The Pro
Tumblr media
The Pro (who was played by Yevgeny Morgunov) is a massive, strong, confident man. He is the informal leader of this trio, in difficult situations he shows himself as a determined person. He is loud and volatile with a short temper.
A warmonger? Yep, you can call him that. And Vulgora too. I think they could be friends...
Well, that’s all folks. See you next time on the “I want to find more points of similarity with russian culture” show. Bye!

When I see the works of the British naturalist artist Charles Tanicliffe (1901-1979), who spent most of his life on the island of Anglesey in harmony with the world around him and drew scenes from the life of birds and animals, I certainly remember the 1954 Soviet cartoon "Orange Neck" based on Vitaly's story Bianki about polite partridges who wish each other a good day, are friends with a lark, follow the changes in nature around, help out relatives in trouble, sneer and philosophize: "Children, with the formation of a young partridge will not disappear anywhere!" I advise you to watch the Soyuzmultfilm masterpiece in the old voice acting, where birds speak with the voices of the great Soviet actors Maria Babanova, Georgy Vitsin, Irina Gosheva and Valentina Telegin. But the 2001 re-voice, although with the participation of Konkin, is considered not so outstanding

Кавказская пленница, или Новые приключения Шурика
A she-prisoner of the Caucasus, or Shurik's New Adventures (translit. Kavkazskaya plennitsa, ili Novie priklucheniya Shurika), also known as Kidnapping, Caucasian Style, is a Soviet comedy film dealing with the theme of bride kidnapping. The title is a humorous interpretation of the Alexander Pushkin poem, "The Prisoner of the Caucasus", and Leo Tolstoy's adaptation of the poem to a short story. The film was directed by Leonid Gaidai. It is the last film featuring the trio "Coward" (Georgy Vitsin), "Fool" (Yuri Nikulin) and "Experienced" (Yevgeny Morgunov), an act similar to the Three Stooges. The premiere of the film took place in Moscow on April 1, 1967.

You'll love it from the first seconds ;)
