Star Trek TOS: what if the captain was a slut who got in fights all the time and did whatever the hell he wanted and it all sort of worked out anyway
TNG: what if the captain drank tea and gave speeches instead
DS9: what if the captain was a single father and religious figure trying to hold onto his morals in the face of an existential threat
Voyager: what if the captain was trying to get her unruly scout troop back home and also she had a GUN
Enterprise: what if the captain was a massive dweeb
Kelvin timeline: what if the first guy was actually a horny frat boy
Disco: what if the captain was a cryptofascist? no wait, what if he was just sooooooo handsome, like so mind-meltingly handsome that is just feels unfair? wait, what if he was a deer? no actually what if she did whatever the hell she wanted, but also felt emotions about it?
Picard: what if the captain was a secondary character driven into solitude by his PTSD, and then we suddenly replaced him with some dipshit from Chicago
Lower Decks: what if the captain was your well-meaning perfectionist mother
Prodigy: what if the captain was a purple teenager
SNW: what if the captain was your dad

If that is how Shaw reacts to meeting Geordi then god help him if he ever meets the most important person in Starfleet history:

The Star Trek page on twitter asked recently about our favourite scenes from Picard season 3. It‘s truly hard to decide, but the one that hit closest to home for me, on a personal level, was Shaw‘s brilliant Wolf 359 monologue. And because I can‘t help myself, I had to paint it too.
I wanted it to be bright and colourful further in the background, but with darkness directly behind his back. Symbolizing that all it would take for him was to turn around to face his demons, and to see that he is running from a darkness that‘s not all he truly is.
Also Todd acted his socks off in this scene. It was just perfect.

Seven and Shaw’s dynamic is endlessly fascinating to me
He won’t respect her name due to his Borg trauma but will not hesitate to die for her
She will call him out for being a disrespectful bigoted asshole but will not sacrifice his life
I’ve never seen two people this Angy™️ at each other but will still die for each other
It’s such a differently unique Captain and XO dynamic when compared to the other captains and first officers on the other shows

Liam Shaw: I just want a normal day on my normal starship with everyone doing their jobs while normal stuff happens with no trouble or bullshit. Is that too much to ask?
Kathryn Janeway: (puts her hand on top of his) I cannot express to you how deeply I understand every word you’ve just said.
