“I need you two to go under cover for the next 48 hours. Our guys are targeting couples and the Feds want you both on this. ”

Kate noted Mike didn’t look happy but she understood sending in two crew to an unknown was always an unsettling prospect.

“Well, I suppose it’s not the worst way I’ve spend Valentine’s Day.” She joked towards the two men trying to lighten the mood; only one of them found the humour.

“I’ll take that as a challenge X!” Swain smiled at her.

Kate went to reply with another joke of her own but Mike stepped between them. “ I think it’s best that the specifics aren’t discussed with the crew. They know you’ll be undercover but they don’t need details.”

Swain looked puzzled, “Sir, we’ve been chasing these guys for a week, recovering and speaking with their victims. The crew have been all over this.”

“Yes and I don’t need 2DADs causing a scene when you’re back on board. You both have a job to do while you are out there but I need it to return to normal once your back on my ship.”

Swain offered her a quick look before he spoke again, “Sir.” Nodding to their boss to signal his understanding.

“Of you go.” He indicated with a head movement, “ They want to prep you before you both depart here.”

They both watched Swain walk away.

“I should go with him, we leave soon.” She went to take a step away from him but froze when he spoke her name.

“Kate.”

“Sir.” She emphasised in a firm tone and it worked when he dropped his gaze to the floor between them.

Getting to know Florwyn (Tav)

@shewhowas39 came up with this cool format to introduce folks to OC Tav's. So, here's some details about the shy storm sorcerer who steals Shadowheart's heart in the fanfiction, Shadowheart Begins.

Pronouns: she/her

Age: about 45 or 46 - she doesn't know her actual birthday

Race: Half-elf

Class: Sorcery, storm sorcery subclass

Alignment: neutral good

Love Interest: Shadowheart

Best Friends: Karlach and Astarion

Height: 2 or 3 centimetres shorter than Shadowheart

Body Type: Slim and sleight. She has no muscle and is light enough to carry (as Shadowheart *ahem* knows).

Skin: very pale

Hair: mid-length white with some light blue highlights and a few silver threads, a side braid on one side, otherwise worn out (side braid picture below).

Eyes: the thing that people notice about her first - very pale grey, warrants a double take. Some people think her eyes look scary or freakish.

Face Claim: a young Lisa McCune (picture below).

Favorite Color: she is very fond of blues and greys. She does not find grey to be a dreary colour at all.

Greatest Passion: she is a great reader, and she also has a (mostly hidden) enormous passion for weather.

Biggest Fear: accidentally hurting the people she loves with her power, being charmed.

Some Random Facts:

Florwyn's favourite wind is a nor-easterly.

She was not allowed any books about weather while growing up (despite requests), in case it 'gave her ideas'. She has made up for lost time by devouring every book she can about cloud and weather patterns and the like, though she does not talk about it much, partly because of it still feeling like 'forbidden knowledge,' partly because she kept her sorcery secret and unused for 30 years and feared slipping up and telling people about her power by accident.

When she and El escaped the wizards and lived with Mystrans for a while, the Mystran family had children she became enormously fond of. She fast became a trusted babysitter for the family and a letter of recommendation from them opened doors to babysit for other families during the early period after their escape.

Florwyn has less than warm feelings about Mystra, feeling aggrieved that she forgot her own cleric (El) and they had to make their escape without any help, after such a long confinement.

Nansi Gretta at the Bibliophile (bookshop in Baldur's Gate) has a crush on Florwyn that has made book browsing and buying awkward. There is a "deleted scene" where Florwyn and Shadowheart went into the bookshop together and Nansi is less than thrilled to see her favourite customer together with her worst customer (Shadowheart used to visit the shop regularly and never buy anything. But did she steal anything? Oh yes she did. The D'vanya Mettle book display was of particular interest).

#110 Blair Witch

Tiene lugar en el 2014, cuando James (James Allen McCune) encuentra en Youtube un extracto de lo que cree que es los últimos momentos de su hermana Heather (Heather Donahue) que desapareció en bosque Black Hills Forest, junto a sus amigos en 1999, mientras grababan un documental sobre la bruja que habita en esos bosques.

Por eso convence a sus amigos Peter (Brandon Scott), Lisa (Callie Hernández) y Ashley (Corbin Reid) para que lo acompañen a la casa del usuario que subió el vídeo y a buscar la casa que se supone que existe dentro del bosque y donde estaría retenida su hermana.

Las dos personas que llevan la cuenta de Youtube son Lane (Wes Robinson) y Talia (Valorie Curry) una pareja de jóvenes que viven por la zona y que les proponen que les dirán donde encontraron el material si les dejan ir con ellos a la acampada.

Así como Peter y Ashley son pareja, igual que Lane y Talia, se nos muestra que James y Lisa tienen una relación más intensa de amistad, pero no son pareja. Lo cual será importante para lo que ocurre al final.

Todos aparcan y van hacia el árbol quemado por un rayo donde los jóvenes del lugar declaran haber encontrado el material. Y continúan avanzando para cruzar un río, donde Ashley se corta en un pie. Pese a la gravedad del corte en la planta del pie, deciden continuar y adentrarse más en el bosque, buscando la casa embrujada.

Así como los lugareños sí creen en la brujería que envuelve y se esconde en el bosque, los cuatro amigos se muestran incrédulos ante que lo ocurrido a Heather sea eso, y no que se perdiera y no supiera salir (teniendo en cuenta que han pasado 14 años no sé...)

Acampan y pasan la primera noche, Ashley tiene una infección y escuchan muchos árboles caer en el bosque, lo que unido a que al día siguiente, cuando se despiertan encuentren material de brujería rodeándolos, deciden abandonar el bosque todos. Cuando se están yendo, Lisa se da cuenta de que han sido Lane y Talia los que han colocado los objetos de brujería y los echan del grupo. Estos se niegan a irse porque no saben guiarse ni tienen el GPS que tienen ellos (que, a continuación, vemos que no valen para un carajo). Los 4 logran echar a la pareja y continúan andando esperando llegar al río para cruzarlo de nuevo.

Durante horas caminan, pero acaban en el mismo campamento donde pasaron la noche y como he empezado a oscurecer tienen que volver a acampar, los GPS no funcionan, ni los relojes, ni nada que les indique la hora o su posición.

Peter se va a buscar leña, pero no vuelve, y Ashley está desvariando ante la fiebre y la infección, en mitad de la noche, mientras Lisa y James esperan a Peter, aparecen Lane y Talia, desaliñados y como si llevaran días en el bosque y no solo unas horas. Estos les cuenta qué han pasado como 5 días desde que los echaron y que no hay manera de encontrar la salida del bosque, pero que no se van a quedar con ellos porque están malditos, Lane sale corriendo, pero Talia se queda con ellos porque está hambrienta y desorientada.

A la mañana siguiente, la alarma de Lisa suena a las 7:00 de la mañana, pero fuera de las tiendas de campaña sigue siendo de noche oscura. Todos se levantan y ven que vuelven a haber estos monigotes hechos con palitos, pero esta vez Talia entra en pánico, ya que tienen pelo humano. Ashley se cabrea ya de tanta tontería y rompe el monigote que tiene Talia en su mano y que lleva su pelo, y al hacerlo la chica se parte en el suelo como su monigote, por lo que los tres que quedan salen corriendo fruto del pánico. Ashley sola y Lisa y James reencontrándose un poco más adelante.

Lisa y James buscan a Ashley mientras algo en el bosque los persigue y les grita, de repente hay una tormenta de lluvia y andando encuentran la casa de la bruja de Blair. James está emocionado y solo quiere entrar para encontrar a su hermana, Lisa se muestra escéptica por varios motivos, al lado de la casa ve el árbol partido por el rayo que vieron al principio y eso indicaría que hace un par de días ya hubieran descubierto la casa, por lo que le dice a James que no va a entrar, él no pierde el tiempo y entra corriendo gritando el nombre de su hermana.

Lisa se vuelve a encontrar con Lane que en estado caótico y como si llevara años encerrado en el bosque, le dice que tiene que obedecer lo que la bruja le diga, que es la única manera de seguir con vida. Lisa lo mata, casi sin querer, y sale corriendo hacia dentro de la casa.

Tal y como pasa en la película The Witch Blair Project, la casa es un laberinto lleno de puertas y pasillos, todos iguales, escaleras que llevan hacia arriba, pero te llevan al sótano y viceversa. Con un juego mental para ir rompiéndote mientras la bruja te acecha y tú entras en pánico.

Lisa hace el mismo recorrido que vemos al principio de la película y que suponemos, como el resto de personajes, que es Heather, pero lo cierto es que es una paradoja temporal. Hemos visto los últimos momentos de Lisa pensando que era Heather, pese a que la hermana del protagonista desaparece de la misma manera.

James y Lisa llegan al desván y aquí entendemos que pese al escepticismo de James, sabe que tiene que colocarse cara a la pared, cerrar los ojos, y esperar a que la bruja les deje en paz, y así se lo indica a Lisa que le cuesta obedecer porque no sabe muy bien que está pasando.

James habla con su hermana Heather, pese a que Lisa, que está al lado, le pregunta que con quién está hablando. Este se gira y la bruja se lo lleva, por lo que Lisa entiende por lógica que si la miras directamente es cuando te mata. Por eso decide grabarla de espaldas, para que la deje en paz. Mientras retrocede, escucha la voz de James pidiéndole perdón, lo que hace que se gire y la bruja acabe con ella.

Todos mueren a manos de la bruja de Blair, nadie encuentra a nadie y todos acaban riéndose más bien poco. Pero al menos hemos visto a la Bruja de Blair en todo su esplendor y nos recuerda peligrosamente a la Niña Medeiros de REC.

Little Fish (2005) Full Film

An Australian film directed by Rowan Woods and written by Jacquelin Perske. It was filmed in and around Sydney, in Cabramatta and in Fairfield. The film was developed and produced by Vincent Sheehan and Liz Watts of Porchlight Films, with Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton's production company Dirty Films receiving an Associate Producer credit. Tracy Heart is a former heroin addict who is desperately trying to escape her past and achieve her goals and dreams. Tracy lives with her mother and brother Ray in the suburb of Cabramatta, Sydney, where heroin is readily available. She is in need of money to become a partner in the video store that she works in, but her loan applications are repeatedly rejected by finance providers, as a result of her past criminal record, poor repayments of credit card debt, history of drug use and lack of collateral. Tracy lies to both her mother and her boss at the video store, pretending she has received the loan. The casual ways people lie to each other for convenience is one of the recurring themes of the movie. Tracy is trying to help her drug addicted stepfather and former National Rugby League star Lionel Dawson to kick his heroin addiction. After a four-year absence in Vancouver, her former boyfriend Jonny Nguyen, also a former heroin addict, has come back into her life. Jonny, who now dresses in business suits, claims to have employment as a stockbroker at a large firm and suggests he may be able to obtain the money Tracy desires through share trading. The romance between Tracy and Jonny is rekindled. Upon visiting Jonny's alleged workplace, Tracy discovers Jonny has lied to her and is not in fact employed as a stockbroker. Jonny has become involved in a drug deal with her brother Ray, and Tracy also chooses to become involved in the deal as she sees this as the only means of providing the finance she needs to become a partner in the video store. Tracy, Ray, and Jonny set out to execute the deal, which ends in tragedy. Tracy's courage and deep love for those she cares about are notable in the climactic scenes of the film.
