After the Second World War came to a close, the Soviets would come to possess the schematics for the infamous German MG-42. These blueprints would be passed around, and rechambered, and put into production. This would give us the MG1 and MG2 in 1958. A decade later, in 1968, the MG3 would be put forward as a modernization of the MG1 and MG2 design. The MG3 would go on to serve in many countries until the current day in various forms.
