#MXY is i will ask someone to stab them to get out of this

au of an au for qin su!wwx where wwx is still in qin su's body but it's JYL who gets summoned back in MXY's body.
Jiang Yanli doesn’t know what she was expecting to happen after she died, but it certainly wasn’t waking up a few minutes later in a donkey shed with blood all over her robes.
She’d been stabbed, she remembers. Perhaps they put her in the first sheltered place they could find while the battle was still going on, and somehow missed the fact that she was still alive? Yanli reaches up to her chest and tries to feel her heartbeat; she is somehow very certain that she had died, since the look on A-Xian’s face when the sword went through her chest was--
But the memory remains unfinished, because Yanli’s hands are poking at her bosom, patting over her ribs one by one as she wonders when she became so thin. Her mother always complained about her narrow figure, even as she scolded her for eating so much when she was in her teens--and Madam Jin worried about how difficult childbirth might be before Jin Ling arrived, since her waist and hips were so skinny--but her breasts were never this flat, and her ribs never stuck out this much even when she was a child.
And then her fingers brush over the rounded lump at her throat, and reveal the truth in one devastating blow that brings Yanli to her knees.
This isn’t my body, she realizes, backing away from the bloody array on the ground and into the rickety cupboard standing against the wall. This is a man’s body.
___
Less than two hours after she wakes, Yanli escapes from the Mo estate in such turmoil that she almost forgets to take the donkey with her.
Keep your wits about you, she berates herself, dressing herself in the only set of spare robes she could find before squirming out of the shed’s high window and crumpling into the dust outside. Mo Xuanyu meant to bring back A-Xian, but that means that A-Xian is...
She blinks back tears, dragging the donkey down the road behind her as she reads over Mo Xuanyu’s letter again. The poor boy had been one of Jin Guangshan’s illegitimate sons, Jiang Yanli’s own xiaoshuzi, and Jin Guangyao had exiled him because he had learned the truth about Qin Su being his younger half-sister.
He was behind your death, too, the letter said. I believe he might even have organized Jin Zixuan’s assassination, since he most likely murdered our father, as well.
Jiang Yanli grits her teeth and pushes on. The single long cut in her arm throbs--a cut that will heal only when Jin Guangyao dies, according to Mo Xuanyu--but the sting is nothing to the twenty hours of sheer agony that was giving birth to Jin Ling, who turned out so big and chubby that she spent the first few hours of his life wondering how such an enormous baby could have possibly fit inside her.
How old would A-Ling be now? she wonders. Did Jin Guangyao and Qin Su bring him up, in mine and Zixuan’s place?
Oddly enough, she doesn’t find herself shying away at the thought of bringing Jin Guangyao to justice. She can probably count on Nie Mingjue to do the actual killing, if it comes to it; there was bad blood between the two even before she and her husband died, and quite frankly, she doesn’t blame Nie Mingjue for it.
A-Xian tore the men who killed the Jiang shidis and shimeis limb from limb, and she would expect no less from a man who watched Jin Guangyao kill his brothers-in-arms right before his eyes.
But then, why did they swear brotherhood after that?
It must have been for Zewu-jun’s sake, Yanli thinks wearily, when she finally stops at a river crossing and leads her donkey down onto the pebbly beach to take a drink. Though I doubt that Zewu-jun could have sworn brotherhood with anyone who had Lan blood on their hands, whether he owed them a life-debt or not.
Her stomach growls, and she searches in the donkey’s saddle-bag for something to eat just in case the owners of the Mo estate had left some bread or fruit there to coax the animal with. Her brief hunt yields a pair of shriveling apples, half-dried but not yet spoiled, so she washes down the fresher one with plenty of cold water and feeds the bigger, drier apple to the donkey.
“I think I’ll call you Apple,” she laughs, as it wolfs down the fruit before sticking its muzzle back into the bubbling stream. “Do you like your name, xiao-pingguo?”
Little Apple takes to the name well enough, and brays contentedly every time she calls it. They rest together by the river for an hour, with Yanli napping in the shade with Little Apple keeping guard; and she starts off again just after noon, hoping to find a main road that might direct her to a town and then towards the nearest cultivation sect.
Jiang Yanli has to admit that Yunmeng Jiang is out of the question: because as much as she loves her younger brother, she highly doubts that he won’t do something stupid if he thinks some nameless Jin exile is pretending to be her. And she certainly can’t go back to Lanling with Jin Guangyao still there, so her quarry will have to be the Gusu Lan clan. Hanguang-jun was friends with her A-Xian, and would surely hear her out for his sake if for nothing else; and Zewu-jun is not as hot-tempered as Chifeng-zun, meaning that Yanli will come to no harm even if Lan-zongzhu doesn’t believe her.
“Xiao-Pingguo,” Yanli begins, stepping over something silvery in the grass as the two of them head deeper into the woods, “how far do you think the--”
Suddenly, her legs go out from under her. Little Apple brays and backs away in alarm, tossing his head anxiously as Yanli struggles into a sitting position and tries to make sense of the fact that her donkey is now over ten feet below her.
“What on earth?” she mutters, biting back one of A-Xian’s favorite curse words as she takes stock of her current situation: trapped inside a net swaying far above the ground, and with no means of cutting her way free from it without breaking her own neck.
“It caught something!” Yanli hears a boyish voice shout, followed by the crackling of someone rushing through the forest and the twang of a drawn bowstring. “Duck, Yu-da-shixiong! I’m going to shoot!”
“You are going to do no such thing,” someone else drawls, with a hint of a sharp Northern accent that reminds her of her late mother. “At least see what you’ve caught, you onionhead. If your stupid nets managed to catch a Lan, you’ll have Chifeng-zun and Hanguang-jun dragging you to Jin-zongzhu for punishment. Chifeng-zun might even punish you himself, since he’s Jin-zongzhu’s sworn da-ge. Do you really want to take the risk?”
“No,” the first boy grumbles. “And anyway, it looks like it’s just--you!”
The sudden dislike in his voice makes Yanli look down, startled, and then the breath flies out of her body as the Jin disciple marches up to stand beneath her.
“Jin Ling?” she asks, her own voice cracking like shattered glass as the Jiang disciple mounts his sword and flies up towards her, presumably so that he can help her climb out of the net. “A-Ling--is it you?”

I'm so confused. can jgy reincarnate or be resurrected? I know fanfic can take liberties but I've read conflicting things. plus the untamed didn't show his body or explain anything and I believe the novel says something else entirely? 😔🥺😕
So "can JGY reincarnate or be resurrected" is not a question I can really properly answer. My understanding is that the answer is yes if he's not stuck in the coffin (and a friend of mine has read a bunch of Chinese fic, albeit through Google translate, where stuff like that does in fact happen), but I'm not confident I'd know it if the answer were no! So I'm afraid I can't really help you there, I'm sorry. This is normally where I'd link you stuff from people who know more than I do but while I know I've seen stuff on the subject apparently I didn't save it, and I couldn't find anything relevant searching, either. That'll teach me not to save my links...
But I can show you what happened to JGY in MDZS, and then contrast with CQL! Let's go.
So, end of ch. 108, JGY pushes LXC away from the coffin and NMJ (not, note, out of the temple, which isn't crumbling!) and then NMJ immediately drags him into the coffin and kills him:
Yet, just as the hand was an instant from grasping Lan XiChen’s neck, Jin GuangYao used the only hand he had left to strike Lan XiChen’s chest, pushing Lan XiChen away.
He, himself, on the other hand, was dragged into the coffin by Nie MingJue, then held up like holding a puppet. The scene was beyond frightening. Jin GuangYao used his one hand to peel away at Nie MingJue’s steel-like palm. He struggled ceaselessly from the pain, hair tangled, as heavy malice shot from his eyes. He cursed with all the energy he had left, “Fuck you, Nie MingJue! You think I’m really scared of you?! I…”
With much difficulty, he coughed up some blood. Everyone present heard a crack that was abnormally clear and brutal.
A whimper of a last breath left Jin GuangYao’s throat.
There's a last short couple of sentences about JL's reaction, and then at the beginning of 109 you immediately have:
Lan XiChen staggered a few steps back from the push. He hadn’t realized what happened yet. Meanwhile, Lan WangJi struck the back of the fair-featured Guanyin statue at the center of the temple. The statue vibrated as it flew towards the coffin. Nie MingJue was still inspecting the corpse in his hand, the head had already dipped. As the heavy statue hit him, he fell right back where he’d been.
Wei WuXian leaped over and stepped onto the Guanyin’s chest. The coffin lid had broken already. They could only use the Guanyin statue as a lid to seal away Nie MingJue and his rampage. Down below, Nie MingJue struck the statue again and again in attempt to break free, while Wei WuXian also shook again and again, reeling so much he was almost thrown off.
And then LWJ lifts the coffin up, seals it with seven quqin strings and lets it fall again to the ground.
Then for the rest of chapter 109 and the beginning of 110, LXC and then WWX ask NHS some questions, after which:
After a while of silence, Wei WuXian spoke, “Let’s stop standing around for nothing. Get a few people to go find assistance. Save a few to stand by here and watch the thing. The coffin and the guqin strings won’t be able to seal ChiFeng-Zun for long.”
As though to verify his judgement, loud noises echoed within the coffin again, along with a nameless fury. Nie HuaiSang shivered. Wei WuXian glanced at him, “You see? You have to switch to a firmer coffin right now, dig a deep ditch, and bury it once more. You won’t be able to open it in at least a hundred years. If you do, it’s guaranteed it’ll continue to haunt, resulting in endless consequences…”
Right after this, the crowd comes pouring in. Some of them do indeed work on strengthening the seal; we're also told that it requires careful handling (which is why it's a few of the sect leaders who volunteer to handle it), and WWX anticipates the near future of the coffin:
Soon, this coffin would be sealed within a larger, firmer coffin. It’d be secured with seventy-two mahogany nails and buried deep underground, sealed under some mountain with stone tablets of warning.
Then we see some sect leaders carrying it outside the temple, and later LQR watches it be hauled onto a cart.
The next we hear of it is in overheard rumour in ch 113, three months later:
Someone switched the subject, “Enough, enough. Why talk about these things? Eat up, eat up No matter how powerful that Jin GuangYao used to be, right now he could be stuck in a coffin brawling with Nie MingJue.”
“I don’t think so. They loathe each other to the core, after all. I bet his bones have already been torn apart by Nie MingJue.”
“Indeed! I went to the sealing ceremony. The resentful energy in that coffin was so strong that no life grew within five hundred feet of it. I’m doubting it, really—could the coffin really seal them for a hundred years?”
Overheard rumour is not the most reliable of things, especially in MDZS—for example, I would not be surprised if it wasn't really five hundred feet. But it gives any sense, and certainly—as WWX indicated above—the coffin is /meant/ to seal them for a hundred years. (Though I have my doubts on this actually working; see here.)
Now let's look at CQL:
After JGY breaks the seal on the coffin, the blood drops onto the Tiger Seal, and resentful energy emerges and the temple starts to crumple; pretty much everyone but wangxian and xiyao flee the temple. LXC lifts his hand to push JGY away, but can't bring himself to do it; JGY asks him to stay and die with him, and he agrees. JGY then pushed him away to save his life, and wangxian catch him and LWJ brings him out of the temple to make sure he actually leaves insead of e.g. running right back in to die with JGY. WWX stays and watches a little; we see JGY turn and confront the resentful energy: "Nie Mingjue. Do you think I will be afraid of you?" The temple continues to collapse, WWX flees, and JGY runs towards the coffin.
(I'm having a hard time with the blocking on this one, I watched it a few times and it looks like they are a) immediately over the coffin when JGY bleeds on it and then immediately after they're...not? Despite not moving??? But the above is what I think is supposed to be going on.)
They're then sitting around in the courtyard outside. They seem to have been sitting around for a while even before WWX's wound heals (not a feature in MDZS, because in MDZS MXY's revenge didn't include JGY); it seems likely that JGY died before that, I think, but that's at least an end point. After this the cultivators rush into the courtyard. Now we finally get people going into the temple again, but there doesn't seem to be any sign or mention of sealing. I thought I remembered mention if a ceremony of some sort, but I can't find it in the rest of the episode and a friend doesn't remember it at all so I think it's pretty likely I was just misremembering/crossing it with MDZS.
But basically: in MDZS, they seal them together /immediately/ after JGY dies, and they proceed very quickly to a stronger, more permanent seal. In CQL, there's no sign of any of this at all! It seems quite plausible that they're not buried together, never mind sealed together. And regardless, it couldn't have happened nearly as immediately; JGY's spirit could have time to flee the coop.
It's also worth remembering that in MDZS when they seal the coffin at the end, it's to immediately deal with /fierce corpse NMJ/, who otherwise would be an extremely powerful, extraordinarily dangerous fierce corpse, made even worse—as WWX notes in ch 107—by having killed JGY.* In CQL it looks like the problem is more the Tiger Seal, I think? And it's not like they need to immediately seal it into the coffin which JGY is also in? It's not even clear that JGY's body actually ends up in the coffin, from what I can see. As far as I can tell there's not really any reason to believe they're buried together. If I had to guess (though I didn't rewatch all relevant scenes, or even all the temple scenes, and I could easily be missing something) I'd say NMJ might be going back to Honourable Burial Nie Land, and JGY's corpse....
Hmmm. That's kind of interesting, come to think of it. If it hasn't mysteriously vanished I'm not sure what would happen to it; I'm inclined to say it wouldn't be treated well except LXC is right there and he might like. Stab someone, honestly. If it /has/ mysteriously vanished—I just might change my mind about CQL LXC killing himself.** In Which a Twin Jade obsessively searches the world for their loved one because there's the possibility they might not be dead, huh.
*"After he killed Jin GuangYao, his killing intent would definitely become stronger, and he’d be more difficult to subdue!"
**I don't think this is the impression CQL as a whole is trying to give us, to be clear, it's just what I think happened.

I would love to see a fanfic where WWX figures out how to bring MXY back without you know... sacrificing the body he gave to him.
I can just imagine the absolute chaos that would bring.
LWJ entering the Jingshi and seeing 2 WWX looking figures, one who’s laughing maniacally and the other who’s apologizing profusely. And just... deciding not to question it and offering them both tea. Later getting into a minor spat with WWX for ressurecting the guy who killed himself to bring you back for *revenge*.
The guy who managed to creep out JGY, “Wei Ying this guy is dangerous. “
“Nonesense, he’s harmless. So sure he may have just stabbed a guy, but like it’s cool, I’ll make sure he behaves I promise.” *proceeds to then not do that and just watch with amusement*
WWX meanwhile has contracted the biggest older brother instinct alive, JC is actually jealous with how much time WWX spends teaching MXY how to live and enjoy life while cultivative demonic practices. To the point of being stupidly protective of MXY. Like MXY accidentally kills someone cause whoops Demonic Cultivation isn’t perfected, and WWX is like “That was wrong of you to do, but I’ll be damned if anyone blames you for it. Guess I’m the villain again!” Gets himself in a bunch of trouble trying to hide the fact he resurrected MXY. “JC I swear that I the totally evil Yiling Patriarch am responsible, yes even though I have like 10 alibies because I was night hunting with the Juniors, no I was totally the one who did this, let MXY go please, he doesn’t like cells”
Meanwhile during all of this MXY is just floored with how nice people (read: WWX and LWJ and the juniors) are being to him... like why? And he actually ends up traveling a lot with Wen Ning because let’s say WWX made him a pseudo immortal corpse, “I s2g I was just trying to contact your spirit to ask if this body had a return date or....” and ends up somehow as the new Yiling Patriarch, because whoops, he’s more scary than the current WWX which means that the current WWX is probably not actually the Yiling Patriarch. The sheer number of rumors that WWX is actually MXY pretending to be WWX for whatever reason, is massive and has caused JC a lot of strife. You can also happily pair him with whoever, and they end up falling in love giving most of the cultivation world a heart attack.
Wei Wuxian to this day will not let MXY live down the fact that he cried when LWJ said he was welcome to stay in cloud recesses as long as he didn’t disturb Wangxian’s “everyday” practice.
MXY has walked in on wangxian enough times that unlike the juniors who still flip out when LWJ and WWX kiss, casually will tell people: “they’re busy fucking like rabbits, so unless you wanna bleach your eyes I reccomend you wait for an hour or so”.
MXY is actually scary, like he gives people goosebumps, so the Juniors use this fact to get people to behave whenever they’re trying to fix a problem. “Careful now, if you don’t do why we ask we may sick Mo Xuanyu on you, and trust me that guy is scary”
Mo Xuanyu is Wei Wuxian without any of the sorta happy background, so he’s a 1000x more chaotic and unhinged. And that’s why they get along.

Okay, so this is going to contain some major spoilers for mdzs regarding golden cores and cultivation. If you don't know exactly what I'm talking about I'd finish your version of the watching/reading experience then come back.
Also, I'm drawing pretty heavily from both Scum Villain Self Saving System and Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation for this, so if the information between the two books are wildly different and only alike in genre than this post will make little sense.
So, onto my point.
First, the term 'golden core's. Now in SVSSS it's implied that most people don't get far enough in cultivation training to develop a golden core, but that it meant they were farther developed and closer to being immortal. In MDZS it's much more common, though I'm unsure of if that's because it's just more common or because it focuses on sect leaders and other powerful figures. Now it's sort of implicitly stated that everyone named in MDZS has a golden core (except civilian types like YangLi) but if you consider points from SVSSS I would consider the 'weaker cultivators' as those who hadn't developed a golden core or improperly developed a golden core, such as Nie HuaiSung (and you know the little shit did it on purpose, but that's a whole other post).
Now in both novels having a golden core came with a few benefits. Inedia (the ability to function without food by using spiritual essence as a replacement), increased physical strength (Wei being unable to hold himself up when Jiang pushes him for example), temperature regulation (pretty sure people mention this a few times though aparently the Cold Spring in Gusu is too cold for that?), the ability to wield a spiritual weapon (hence Wei not using Suibian post core-shift), and healing abilities (by this I mean both the external use of healing by putting spiritual essence into someone else and being able avoid bleeding out from a missing ARM).
So we know that after giving his core to Jiang he gets thrown into the Burrial Mounds where he is beset by resentful energy which his golden core cannot protect him from. Mastering this is how he is still able to use cultivation without a core, as instead of his own core, he uses external resentment to power his talismans and corpse-control music.
But using this isnt the same as having a golden core.
It's been a while since I read this part, but I just watched Untamed again and he's clearly holding his chest throughout the show as though he's constantly in pain, so I imagine there are many things different. If he's using external power for his cultivation then he can't automatically do things he's used to.
But he'd probably forget this.
Just imagine for me-
- WWX leaning heavily on his flute because hey it's okay that my brother stabbed me in the gut just to make it seem like I defected. I'll heal, no need for WQ to patch me up, someone else could use those supplies. Why am I coughing blood?
-WWX being relieved that he's renowned for liking spicy food and liquor because they're the only things keeping him warm when it would be odd to ask for more blankets. Not that anyone would notice if he did.
-WWX pestering JLY for her soup and cooking more often. She thinks it's because it's a war and he's homesick or heartsick but he's honestly starving because high level cultivators don't get large portions so that they have enough food to go around to the common soldiers on the battlefield, and everyone knows WWX is scary powerful so why would he need large portions anyways?
-having to avoid wearing ANY sword casually, let alone Suibian because what if he gets challenged to a fight and he cant refuse they'd break his guard in a moment and then his secret would be out and JC would be furious, the Wens would be in danger and he'd rather face ridicule for the rest of his life than watch that happen.
-watching fellow cultivators jump on their sword and having to make quick excuses why he 'forgot his sword' or 'could use the exercise' or 'wanted to hold onto LWJ- WHY ARE THEY FLYING AWAY' but being secretly relieved when they scoff and think he's arrogant.
- honestly believing that he can regulate his emotions and the amulet's influence because he's used to having a core to pass things through to purify them and he forgets this sometimes and he panics. But he promised LWJ it wouldn't consume him. So obviously he can't be losing his control, he's just righteously angry, who wouldn't be? (He's losing his mind and he knows it)
BONUS:
- WWX instinctively runs from fights now, dodging and diving and using the dark tricks he'd taught himself. He braces himself for a surge of resentment, anger- but it's not coming? It's muted, barely there and he realizes, MXY doesnt have a golden core- he was kicked out of the Jin sect before it formed, but even though he cant use SuiBian properly he STILL HAS SPIRITUAL ENERGY. He feels boneless with a sort of longing relief.

AU where JGS was not a bastard.
Recognized that Madam Jin was not into him, but their families arranged the marriage. Arranged a pregnancy without penetration with research into dual cultivation (ritual for a boy) and after the child was born Madam Jin went to visit her childhood friend at Lotus Pier and never moved back. Madam Yu was much happier than canon with her ‘friend’ with her.
Bought a prostitute with major skills in literature, music, conversation and entertainment to host social events at Koi Tower: despite reassuring her that sleeping with him was not required it was obvious she’d feel more secure with that kind of relationship and also wanted a child of her own after helping take care of JZX. The two of them sleeping together and JGS making it fairly public and making it clear that he thought highly of her also helped discourage idiot insults, since pointing out that she was a former prostitute = implying that the sect leader was an idiot for buying a prostitute.
JIn ZiXuan and Jin ZiYao growing up together. Madam Jin sending a letter saying she wanted the daughter she helped raise to marry her blood son (to substitute for her and Madam Yu not being able to get married) and JGS being ‘sure’ since his own arranged marriage worked out quite well and Jiang Yanli, growing up with her moms, would hopefully have heard their story and instead of being clingy or whatever would be open to sitting down with Jin ZiXuan and working out how to arrange for the two of them to be happy.
Madam Yu and her husband were focused on the sect in general, so Madam Jin helping her daughter Yanli with her cultivation, although a combination of sexism and Yanli just not having the best spiritual roots kept her from being chosen for sect head over JC - not that the parents wanted the sects to merge/a couple to have to split their time between the HQs.
Madam Jin sending a ‘what the hell?’ letter to JGS when gossip says he got a sixteen-year-old pregnant - he writes back that he went to Mo Village leading some trainees night hunting and in the process found a young couple had tried to elope but it ended in tragedy with the girl already pregnant. The girl’s family were not good people, so he decided to claim the child as his as an excuse to bring her back to Koi Tower. Mo XuanYu remains MXY due to not actually being a Jin.
JZX and Yanli surprise all four of their parents by actually falling in love? Madam Jin visiting for wedding planning: JGY’s mother is nervous that she’ll want to reclaim her place but Madam Jin makes it clear that she doesn’t want JGS back since she’s not into dudes. JGS sending Madam Jin letters gossiping about their son’s fail attempts at being romantic.
Jin ZiYao going to study at Cloud Recesses and crushing so effing hard on Lan XiChen, but the heir of the righteous Lan sect marrying the son of a prostitute? But things are heading towards war, and someone who turned the tide of the war would have a MUCH better shot at LXC, so JZiYao stabs Jin ZiXun for insulting his mother and defects to the Wens, sending his intel to NMJ because the Wen’s’d be looking for communications between him and his dad. Ends up killing WRH and saving NMJ”s life in the process, so NMJ swears brotherhood and becomes wingman in the LXC wooing, or rather Huaisang does because he has some idea what he’s doing in the romance dept. LXC is also pushing for the Lan sect to recognize gay marriage for the sake of his little brother’s happiness.
During one of Huaisang’s visits to Koi Tower for conspiring purposes *cough* I mean, ‘business with the chief cultivator,’ MXY crushes on him. Xue Yang is IDed as psycho and not accepted as a disciple. Instead the sects decide that WWX needs to destroy the Seal, and WWX doesn’t want to go to Gusu to work on it there, going to Lotus Pier would be putting that power in the Jiang sect’s hands since WWX is a sect member and the Nie said no since their saber spirits involve resentful energy and they don’t want the Seal near them, so the Jin sect is a neutral location with a library (also WWX is happy to be there bc shijie’s there doing wedding prep). LWJ volunteers to copy research material from the Gusu Library, so the gossip letters also contain ‘by the gods how can anyone be so clueless’ updates from JGS on the LWJ/WWX situation for Madam Yu to LOL at.
...WWX and JC being bridezillas. Shijie’s wedding MUST be perfect!
Oh, Qin Su - the Qin sect leader is impotent due to a qi deviation but he didn’t want that to get out/didn’t like the people who would inherit if he didn’t have a kid, so he asked his BFF to do that getting someone pregnant ritual. His wife was not happy about this until she was assured there was no penetration involved. Supposed to be a guaranteed son but strong yin energy something something Qin Su was determined to be a woman apparently. There wasn’t a second try for a boy because JGS was like ‘yeeeah it’d be kind of a dick move to contribute to my bio daughter getting passed over in favor of a guy,’ so she remained sect heir.
WWX finding out about the conception ritual and idly finding a way for two guys to have a kid (although they still need a surrogate mom) as a favor to Jin ZiYao’s attempted Romance and not at all because he’s thinking of LWJ. When the two hook up, Wen Qing volunteering to be the surrogate in the name of Research into methods for ensuring easier/safer pregnancy and childbirth.
Many years later, asexual!JC deciding that JGS had the right idea with buying and freeing a prostitute and then hiring her to provide the social graces he lacks and also he reallyreallywants a kid and his bro and sis refuse to let him kidnap theirs. So he gives Jin ZiYao’s mom like a ton of money and she goes to several cities/brothels and buys like a dozen people who seem nice and sends them to Lotus Pier for the job interview. Most of them end up sticking around so JC gets the harem master rep despite not sleeping with any of them. People doing harem intrigues to secure their children’s futures is averted by JC doting on ALL the kids instead of only one or two faves. There are so many puppies. And so many kids that JC, not JGS, ends up the one with the sex fiend rep.
(LIke, Madame Meng going ‘OFC you’re free to go, here’s some money, but if you want a job social manager for a Great Sect is a sweet gig I highly reommend, you get room board, lots of $ and Wen Qing as your family physician, the health care is A++ also cultivators to beat the shit out of anyone who looks down on you for being a former prostitute.Jiang Cheng doesn’t want to have sex with you, which is a bit unfortunate since cultivator guys are freaking hot’)

#3 for Story! (MDZS getting to know u asks)
questions from here
Bring back Jin Zixuan. Kill Jiang Cheng.
You can bring one character back to life, but you must pick someone else to die in their place. Would you do it? How would this effect the story?
Okay so I already brought back Cangse Sanren for a happy ending let's try for something a little more devastating. I am in the mood to hurt myself emotionally. Sorry friend, I don’t know if this is what you wanted.
JZX rushes off as per canon but this time JYL with her canon my-WWX-spidey-senses-tingling grabs JC's arm and asks him to go with her husband because she has a bad feeling
JZX is waiting with JC and JYL for WWX's arrival at JinLinTai, which is where JGY finds them after ugly cousin takes off with the Lan  and Jin disciples
JZX and JC arrive at Qiongqi Path just as UC and WWX are about to come blows
This time, when WN moves to strike, JC is close enough to act
He throws himself in front of the blow meant for JZX
JC gets JZX’s final words “a-jie is, is still, waiting for you”
JZX catches him as he collapses and it’s the Nightless City JLY-dying scene except with JZX as JC and JC as JYL. Also JZX doesn’t push WWX
◇◇◇
First way it goes is that the rest of the plot goes pretty much as it did in canon except JC is not at Nightless City so LWJ has nobody but himself to hate if WWX still goes over the cliff which he absolutely does if JYL somehow still manages to make it to Nightless City and dies
JGY still needs to find a way to kill off JZX so probably makes sure that happens at Nightless City as well (unless JZX has to stay alive in this hypothetical, in which case JGY probably pulls a post-canon LWJ where his older brother is SL but in such deep mourning that he takes over as acting Sect Leader and Chief Cultivator)
Jin Ling is raised entirely by the Jin and is therefore 50% more diplomatic and 90% more miserable
Without JC and with Lotus Pier still recovering it’s laughably easy for JGS and JGY to absorb Yunmeng Jiang into Lanling Jin’s territories
Their next sect leader is the closest thing to an heir that Lotus Pier has afterall!
There’s a lot more territory to go around and JGY could frankly use the help so MXY is treated very well and never feels the need to reenact the Yiling Patriarch to exact revenge
Possibly JGY marries MXY to a Jiang/Meishan Yu/Baling disciple and sends his brother to Lotus Pier as his proxy
NHS’s alternative revenge plot is betrayed, he is either executed or exiled and JGY seizes Qinghe Nie as compensation for their sect leader's treachery
LWJ stumbles across Yi City and the mess that is XY while going where the chaos is. He rescues a-Qing and XXC
This is a lot harder without the groundwork exposing all of JGY’s crimes and in the end they’re not successful
LWJ confronts LXC with his suspicions about JGY based on some things XY said beforehe died
LXC looks at what’s happening and decides they need to confront JGY
JGY locks LXC up the same way Qingfeng-jun locked up Madam Lan, which LXC agrees to provided JGY promises not to hurt LWJ
LWJ takes LSZ and LJY and flees, meeting up with XXC and a-Qing near Yi City
The five of them retire to Baixue Temple and start the orphanage/cultivation school songxiao dreamed of (SL will join them later)
They watch helplessly from afar while JGY governs the united sects
◇◇◇
Second way it goes is that WWX is so distraught over killing JC that he lashes out like he does against the minor cultivators outside Nightless City
Everyone within a hundred metres is pinned to the ground and slowly suffocating while WWX sobs over JC’s body
WN tries to get him to leave but WWX screams at him to go away “what should I do now? what should I tell my sister?”
WN goes back to Burial Mounds to get WQ in the hopes that she will be able to help
This is not a happy ending
Meanwhile LXC, LWJ, and JGY come looking for their disciples and stumble upon the scene
LWJ and LXC manage to dispel the resentful energy with xiao/guqin and in the process discover SS and the evidence of the hundred holes curse on him
From JZX they hear about how UC was attacking WWX and WWX was defending himself and lost control
Happy ending would be everyone realising that SS and JGY had planned the ambush and confronting him before it escalates
JGY realises this and has to think quickly. He announces that SS must be in league with WWX. He pulls an NHS and yells for LXC to lookout! and LXC stabs SS, who looks very betrayed for three seconds before he dies
WWX allows himself to be restrained but just laughs when they demand a lock on his spiritual power because there’s nothing to lock (he doesn’t have to worry anymore about revealing the core transfer because JC is dead and can’t find out)
Everyone is horrified but ofc JGY is just like “well but what about the stygian tiget amulet? that’s more powerful than a core you should hand it over.”
WWX agrees to give it to LXC. JGY eventually convinces LXC to give it to him to study
JYL collapses in grief when her brothers are brought in, one is chains, the other in a shroud
LWJ goes to the cell where WWX is being held and begs him to let him help but WWX is lost in his grief and tells him to “piss off”
LWJ leaves and goes to the Burial Mounds where he rescues not only a-Yuan but all the other Wen remnants as well. He takes them to Yunmeng since - with all the chaos over JC’s death - no one is likely to notice twenty civilians showing up out of nowhere
While he’s away there’s a trial and the Jin demand that WN and WQ surrender themselves as well. Much as in canon they announce that they’ve killed the three demonic scourges
LWJ loses it and nearly kills JGS, JGY, JZX, and a bunch of other people at the conference
He still gets the lashes and three years seclusion
By the time LWJ emerges from seclusion the Jin have taken over Yunmeng in Jiang Yanli’s name as Young Madam Jin. Granny and Fourth Uncle are worried about discovery so Lan Wangji takes on a-Yuan as a disciple except he’s much older now and the war is long over which means questions. He pulls it off with LXC’s help but it’s a close call
By the time NMJ dies and NHS hatches his revenge plot the Jin are far more powerful than in canon. Jin Guangyao has, by then, managed to bump off UC, JZX, and JGS
JGY has tried using threats against JYL and WQ to make WWX help with their experiments but he refuses
He doesn’t really need much help though since he has the amulet and XY
They probably end up killing WWX and WQ around the time JGY and XY successfully create their first fierce corpse OR they leave them locked up below JinLinTai for a decade and a half
If they live, NHS’s revenge plot basically relies on him and MXY somehow breaking WWX out of the cells while LWJ is around to find him and be pulled into the investigation
If they die, the resurrection and post-resurrection go pretty much as per canon except after the second siege of the Burial Mounds they go to Cloud Recesses not Lotus Pier, since Lotus Pier is occupied territory
This is also not a happy ending but less unhappy than the first one

I saw an ask abt LWJ helping WWX developing MXY's baby golden core, which is canon since MXTX confirmed that, and I'd like to believe that in time WWX would fully develop it and become close to achieving immortality. He's WWX after all, I have no doubt in his skills. But then I see the potential for more shuangjie angst because of one detail: last time I recalled, WN last gave Suibian to JC when he chewed him out in a way, but JC gave back only Chenqing to WWX. (1/)
So once WWX formed his core, he would need his sword back. But he doesn’t go to Lotus Pier since what did JC tell him last time? “Don’t let me see you in Lotus Pier again.” And “Get out of my sect!” Their talk in the Guanyin Temple doesn’t change the fact that WWX took those words to heart and thought when he passed out, “Let’s leave. And never come back.” So someone else goes in his stead. Not sure on who it should be, but let’s say in one scenario it’s LWJ who comes to ask for the sword. (2/)
It’s a Fact that LWJ does not like JC, but he’s completely tactful and neutral when he stops by the gates of Lotus Pier and asks JC for the sword. But JC surprises himself when he feels (and possibly shows) that he’s very reluctant to give up Suibian. He dances around the issue by asking questions. I can’t imagine what kind of questions, but I wouldn’t put it past him to take a few more stabs because of some residual spite/jealousy for LWJ. (3/)
Still, LWJ stays calm and asks for the sword again, pointing out, “Do you have any use for the sword?” or something. JC knows that no, he doesn’t, and slowly realizes that he still hasn’t completely moved on if he’s still reluctant to let go of anything of WWX, and with Chenqing gone Suibian is the only thing he has left. But then he remembers that WWX chose to live his new life free from the shackles of his past, tattered life in Lotus Pier. (4/)
He also remembers that he never tells WWX the truth about his capture to let him have his freedom. If he denies WWX Suibian, then it’s just going to be like the past all over again. He realizes part of him is still holding on to the past and to their old promises. He then hears WWX telling him before that they need to let go of the past because it’s been eating at them for too long. They have different lives now, don’t they? (5/)This causes JC to give the sword. LWJ says no more and leaves, and JC reflects again: he doesn’t lose Lotus Pier a second time. He still has Jin Ling. But he knows that even as he moves on, there will be something inside him that remains incomplete. He still has mixed feelings about it all. But there’s still nothing to say.
what did i do to you to make you hurt me like this?
at the end of the day, the twin heroes of yunmeng will be a distant dream. at least jc can remember yanli through jin ling, but in the end, he has nothing left of his brother at all, except that golden core that is just a constant reminder of his own failure.

General Danvers ‘The Heat’ au, from a discussion with @alittlelesspain
Astra as Shannon, the detective, and Alex as Sarah, the FBI Special Agent. Alura as Astra’s despairing Captain. Hank as Alex’s superior officer.
So, Alex and Astra are forced to work together in an attempt to take down the local drug cartel. The plot is pretty much the same, except its gay.
But basically, think of specific scenes.
Astra, the leather jacket wearing, Rosa Diaz aesthetic detective, meeting Alex, with her proper suits and dead straight short hair, and thinking, I am not working with this incredibly attractive incredibly irritating looking woman. Going on the ‘where are the captain’s balls’ rant when Alura explains that they have to work together. Alura sitting there with her head in her hand while Astra prowls around the office looking for her balls, and when its finally over, she stands up, puts her hands on her sister’s shoulders, and says, ‘are you done now? Is it over? Do you feel better?’
Astra grumbles and lets her sister hug her and agrees to work with Alex, but threatens that she might end up destroying those stupid suits.
Alex, in turn, seeing this tall, athletic, beautiful detective with a scowl like thunder, seeing her methods and her attitude, and turning to Hank to say, ‘I can’t work with her’. Hank asks if its because she’s unprofessional or because Alex finds her attractive. Alex turns bright red. ‘Me? Why would you say that?! Maybe you’re attracted to her, hA!’ ‘I am a married gay man, Agent Danvers’.
On their way to stake out a night club, a car beeps, and Alex sees a small, well dressed woman turn in her seat, her fingers splayed in a V over her mouth, her tongue stuck through, and Astra flips her off as she goes past. ‘Who was that?’ Alex asks, thinking that perhaps it was Astra’s girlfriend. Astra grumbles. ‘Our DA, Lucy Lane. And my sister’s girlfriend’. Astra tells Alex that unless she wants to watch Alura freak out in the middle of the precinct because she’s shy and wants to keep things professional in the work space, she should refrain from mentioning her relationship with Lucy. (‘How dARE yOU detectIVE iN-Ze I AM yOUr suPeRIOr ofFICER!!!’ ‘Sister you’ve been going out for two years’ ‘mE slEEP wiTH a LAWYER??’ Alura learnt a lot from her mentor, Captain Holt)
At the club, Astra fits in easily, and takes it upon herself to ‘fix’ Alex’s look so that she fits in. Alex being flustered and irritated in equal measure when Astra takes a knife to her favourite shirt, rips her pants off, insults her spanks and ruffles her hair so that its no longer straight. Foreshadowing.
When they get confronted by the two DEA agents, Mxy and Mon-El, and Mxy insults Alex’s looks, Astra loses it. She rattles off a long list of Alex’s qualifications that Alex didn’t even know she knew, before saying, ‘are you giving beauty tips? Do you own a fucking mirror? Have you looked at Alexandra? You are but a fucking worm in comparison’. Alex feels unfairly turned on by Astra swearing while defending her. While they’re there, they notice Kara (an undercover cop who has inherited Astra’s recklessness and Alura’s stubbornness, Astra’s hotheaded anger and Alura’s calm, collected focus, and their desire to protect the innocent and see justice done), interacting with a member of the organisation.
Kara, who obviously refuses to pull herself out because she’s getting close, gives them the name of the ringleader’s second in command, Maxwell Lord. Alex tries to interrogate him, and Astra, always hotheaded and worried about her niece, bursts in an hurls a book at his head. Astra interrogating him using Russian Roulette, cocking her gun, pointing it at his dick, pulling the trigger to various screams of horror from Alex and Max alike. Alura bursting in because god fucking dammit Astra we have talked about these methods.
Then the bar scene. M’gann serves them as many drinks as they want, and Alex proceeds to tell Astra that she has never liked intimacy with men, Astra points out that perhaps she’s gay, and Alex is like?? Idk if I’m gay women don’t like me. Astra gets so affronted because she’s drunk and she’s like ‘where are these women? Show me these fucking women? Oh wait there is just me and I like you surprise idiot’. Alex is honestly so confused, ‘you hate me? Shut up?’
Astra grabs her by her stupid suit shirt and kisses her. Alex pulls back to pronounce that she’s right, she’s definitely gay, and clambers into Astra’s lap. Astra, drunk off her ass, falls backwards, and they end up making out on the pool table.
Its a night of making out, screaming song lyrics, dancing together, sleeping standing upright while swaying together, and M’gann records the whole thing with pictures that she sends to Lucy the next day.
There is a brief moment of tension, following Kara ending up in hospital thanks to Alex using a tip off that was actually a test from the drug cartel to uncover the mole in their ranks, and both she and Astra are taken off the investigation (a decision that is out of Alura’s hands). Alura ends up bawling her eyes out in the briefing room when Alex comes to Astra’s defence when certain shitty people are making fun of her and her methods, a rant that involves more swearing than she’s ever done in her entire life, because she’s so happy that Astra found someone who’ll fight tooth and nail in her defence.
Astra and Alex gear up in Astra’s apartment, emptying her fridge stocked with various assault weapons that make Alex drool, and infiltrate one of the cartel’s warehouses. Astra wants revenge for her niece, and they both want justice for themselves. They are eventually apprehended, and Maxwell (who had previously escaped) stabs Alex in the leg before he’s called away by his boss. Astra removes the knife, only to have Alex scream at her to stick it back in when they hear Maxwell returning, and, Astra, in a moment of blind panic, does just that.
The ringleader is, in fact, Mon-El, and after gloating, he leaves to kill Kara to prevent her from spilling any of the cartel’s secrets when she wakes up, and Astra whips the knife from Alex’s leg, stabs Max in the leg, and manages to free herself after Alex takes him out with her head. It all comes to an head in the hospital, where Mon-El incapacitates Astra, and is on the verge of killing Kara when Alex, unable to walk but still viciously fighting, slides into the room on her ass and shoots him in the balls. Astra is, to Alex’s surprise, completely shocked. ‘Why would you actually do that?!’ ‘I got it from you, Astra!’ ‘I’d never actually do it it was an intimidation tactic!’
Kara wakes up to them making out on the floor.
In the end, high in the clouds from all the pain meds for her leg, Alex ends up proposing. ‘I still can’t believe you stuck a knife in my leg’ ‘you asked me to’ ‘so you’d do anything I asked?’ ‘perhaps’ ‘marry me’.
Astra simply shushes her and kisses her and watches her sleep despite the way her heart is pounding, and, later, after Alex is better and her transfer to Boston is complete, Astra turns up at the door with Alex’s lost cat (which is not, in fact, her cat), and a ring, and says, ‘I don’t know if you remember proposing but I did say I’d do whatever you want’. Alex accepts the ring and they make out with the cat winding around their feet before Alex pulls back to say, ‘one thing though, that was never my cat’. Astra picks her up and kisses her and says, ‘well, it is now’.
Alura cries like a baby when she finds out because she’s so happy for them. That, and now she has to put up with both of them.
