More relevant to Americans but anything that combines music and empowering women is in the right place in my heart and mind.
Also features one of my new heroes Mal Harper the founder of Mallabel as a speaker.

Eko Zu - Let Me Fall by MalLabel Music LET ME FALL MUSIC VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szOY3f5IB9k LET ME FALL EP: http://ift.tt/2FfWtdA This week MalLabel Music has gone deep into the urban jungles of the pacific to bring you a little bit of that four on the floor flavor as LA/San Francisco's, EKO ZU shows us how a guy and two gals bring house music to life right before our eyes. Self described deserted, jungle-island outcasts and wild animals at heart, EKO ZU are no strangers to the rhythm and vibes electronic dance music has blessed upon our culture, but create their flow in a way that could only be captured as each intonation is struck perfectly in time by a musician. Making due with the tools at hand, these castaways ride the party out all night long with nothing, but a guitar, drumpads and a sirens song as they keep us on our toes with the swing, grooves and switch ups that could only ever hit you in all the right places by a group of live musicians working the crowd. Their newest EP is to be released over the next 4 months cascading behind the title track and Let Me Fall begins with an upbeat and soulful deep house vibe and takes that feel good to a higher place. Eternal Eyes is a slow and synthy jam with an epic computerized breakdown and some Funk elements. From the studio Here and Now looks like it's shaping up to bring some sultry goodness to the bunch with some funky synths and slap bass. What we know so far about All I Ever is that is that it's going to melt dance floors with sensual fire. Stay tuned to snatch these up as they pump out of the studio! El Diablo Shares Influences, Experimental Bass, And Story In Exclusive Interview
El Diablo Shares Influences, Experimental Bass, And Story In Exclusive Interview
El Diablo west-coast experimental bass style, recently showed off in his latest release The Last Upper EP, shined a light on the path the solo artist has been on. Each of the 5-tracks delivered a unique feel while fitting into the vein of modern experimental bass. We had a chance to talk to El Diablo about this and more, sharing about influences, beginnings, the bay area’s scene – check it out below.
How many years have you been producing and what got you hooked on experimental bass?
I’ve been producing for about 7 years. Previously I was a bass player/vocalist in a band in NYC called “The Kung-Fu Grip”. We were an experimental hard rock band in the vein of Mr. Bungle, or Tool, and had begun incorporating electronic elements into our sets right before we broke up. As a bass player and sort of “recording engineer” for the band, it was a natural transition to electronic music.
After moving to the Bay area and immersing myself in DJ culture, I saw the work of the other up and coming producers here pushing boundaries and, combined with the influences from having been in a completely different realm of music, it really inspired me to experiment more and more and to go out of my comfort zone and the traditional format for electronic dance music. Also, once I became a resident with MalLabel Music, there was just no lack of talent around me everywhere from recordings to live sets it is crazy! Hella exciting!
Who were your inspirations when you first started producing?
Definitely, I would say Eprom, The Glitch Mob, Noisia, Starkey, Bar9, Chase & Status, DJ Shadow plus and an endless list of others.
How would you say the west coast experimental bass scene differs from the south and east coast?
I just see A LOT more experimentation going on here since the scene is big, folks are constantly pushing each other. Although I guess I would say that it’s def A LOT more influenced by and deeply rooted in Hyphy and West Coast Hip Hop.
Where would you be today if you weren’t doing music?
Well, I was a fine arts major in college and my goal was to be a painter until music came along and took me over, so I guess I’d be a visual artist. Or dead, who knows? I can’t imagine doing anything more fun or fulfilling!
Any special events happening as 2017 ends?
Currently, I’m taking a break from shows to work on perfecting my production. I find that when I’m playing all the time, it really gets in the way and I can’t make the kind of progress I’d like to and fall behind on my schedule for remixes and collaborations.
Who are some talented producers you have your eye on right now?
Def always liked Yheti & G Jones. Also Yunis, NastyNasty, Proko, Bionik, The Widdler, Jonathan Thomas, Moniker, Mike Ill – hell there’s too many to list!! I like their style and bonus, they’re always easy to get along with!
