Brutality! Daughter-in-law burned alive after giving birth to a girl, condition critical, marriage took place 9 years ago, accused husband arrested, in-laws absconding

Crime News: In Ludhiana, in-laws burnt their daughter-in-law alive after giving birth to a daughter. She has been admitted to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) in a critical condition. The police have arrested the accused husband in this case. The search for the mother-in-law and father-in-law is still on.

The incident took place two days ago in Swaddi Kala village under Sindhwa Bet police station. The victim, Sukhjit Kaur, is currently battling for life at Dayanand Medical College (DMC). On the complaint of the victim's elder sister Sumanpreet Kaur, the police have registered a case against her husband Gurpreet Singh, mother-in-law Manjit Kaur and father-in-law Amarjit Singh.

According to Sumanpreet, her sister got married to tempo driver Gurpreet Singh 9 years ago. A year after the marriage, Sukhjit gave birth to a daughter, Gurnoor, who is now 8 years old. Two days ago, Sumanpreet received a call from Pandori Nursing Home in Mullapur that her sister had been left in a decomposed condition.

Regarding this, police officials said that the victim is not in a position to give her statement. The accused husband Gurpreet Singh has been arrested. Currently, the police is investigating the case.

One of our team members recounted the ladies semi final. The girls team from Haldibari, an area known for its tea gardens had been playing exceptionally well. The Haldibari organisers had pledged that if they won the semis, they would stop work for the day and bring a 200 plus strong band of supporters to cheer for their team. Sadly, their team lost in the semi, but it’s that spirit which speaks volumes. Several teams that played in this edition of the tournament were made up of ‘tea garden kids’, girls and boys whose parents are workers in the tea estates. For these youngsters football is a way to rise over and above the circumstances of themselves and their parents. The women’s tournament is sponsored by Tata Steel and these tales add to their mammoth legacy of creating social mobility and empowerment.
