Jeepers Creepers (1939)
WE'VE BEEN LIED TO!
Roy Rogers kissed someone on screen who was not Dale! Or Trigger! Like on the lips! (I am apparently 12 years old again.)
This was definitely part of a cover up. I've always read that his first and only on screen kiss was Dale Evans in San Fernando Valley (1945). But I was watching Jeepers Creepers (1939) where Roy has a smaller role, with Maris Wrixon as the love interest.
He's getting on her nerves and she slaps him (which also only happens in one other film), and then in a sort of uncharacteristic show of romantic frustration, he grabs her by the shoulders and gives her a quick kiss.
I was both horrified and surprised haha. I was simply not expecting it. For someone who has diligently studied and learned as much Roy Rogers lore as I can find, this was an exciting find.

How many tropes and plot-pivots can you throw in to an hour-long horror movie? Director William Beaudine gives his best shot with 1946's THE FACE OF MARBLE starring John Carradine, Claudia Drake, Robert Shayne and Maris Wrixon.
We have voodoo, ghosts, vampires, mad scientists, white faces of marble, and more!

Maris Wrixon had a minor career at Warner Brothers during the 1930's and 40's. She possessed all the physical endowments that had propelled other screen sirens of the period to stardom.
