This is my first drawing of marmay. I haven’t drawn in a while, and I feel stiff. A teacher of mine used to say that drawing was a jealousy mistress, and I would just laugh. Now I get.

'Mermaid' Mahito and Marine biologist Lynn! (And Junpei!)

Some lore cooked up by @distortedkilling and myself:

Mahito isn't really a mermaid, he's really a deep sea abomination imitating a mermaid (His true form looks like his 'final' form 👀👀👀) Humans think they're studying him but he's studying humans. (His tail is the same color as his legs when he's neked but censored and he has the ability to shapeshift ofc)

'Mermaid' Mahito has a penchant for getting out of his tank and crawling around the grounds of his enclosure and actually has good manuvarbility outside of water, kind of like an alligator. Other mermaids don't stray away from water but ya boy is trying to EVOLVE! He's creepy and freaky as hell and he didn't get along well with anyone and is very agressive and menacing. The only person he likes is Lynn and he is very territorial of her (Often splashing/ spitting at/ hitting Junpei if he's too close to Lynn) 'Mermaid' Mahito won't eat unless Lynn feeds him and digs up his aquatic plants just so she'll spend more time with him. He doesn't let Lynn wear an oxygen tank and instead has his own way of giving her oxygen when she dives (Kisses!). On days Lynn is absent he gets very petulant and the only person brave enough to care for him when Lynn isn't there is Junpei and he only does it because Lynn will be sad that no one cared for Mahito while she was away. Of course Mahito is throwing his food on the wall, spitting bones and rocks at Junpei, scratching him, smacking him with his tail and nearly drowning him several times as well as digging up his plants after they've been replanted. (Junpei specializes in caring for jelly fish and has taken care of a gigantic jelly fish, Moon Dregs, since he was a ephyra. Lynn and Junpei also take care of penguins together and the penguins view them as their parents!) ANYWAY Mahito finds it very entertaining to torture and beat up Junpei. (Lynn assures Junpei Mahito is just playing!! uwu) Lynn always gives Mahito a piece of her sammich at lunchtime and stays after hours often to spend time with Mahito! Junpei is unnerved by their relationship. What in the Shape of Water, Creature of the Black Lagoon type nonsense is this??

I'll probably make more doodles of this AU cause I love it so much!!!

Bi tropes : Toute Première Fois (I Kissed A Girl)

Jérémie is a gay guy who's getting married to his surgeon boyfriend. But his one night stand with a swedish woman (his first time with a woman) is changing everything about his life and what he thought he wanted.

He decides to hide this from his fiancé and move on. When the woman won't leave his mind, his best friend's advice is to see her again, to "make sure" he's still gay.

The first and only mention of bisexuality is when he searches about gay men having sex with women and all he finds is: bisexuality is not real, and bisexual men are just frustrated homosexuals. Which is exactly what he repeats to his bff when he suggests he might be bi. It could have been a commentary on the lack of understanding and the stigma around bisexuality but it is never mentioned or discussed again.

So Jérémie lies to his fiancé and grows apart from him, all the while sleeping with his new girlfriend (who has no idea). The whole thing eventually blows up and he loses both his fiancé and his girlfriend, who goes back to Sweden. With a kinda supportive speech from his bff, he decides to follow her and win her back. He finally finds her and comes out to her as gay (???) and wins her back by going through a frozen lake (??).

It is never addressed whether he still likes men or not. In the final scene, Jérémie is chatting with a guy and his girlfriend swoops him away like she feels threatened. Could be a hint that he is still attracted to men, or that she can't trust him to stay "straight" or faithful....

So we got the invisible bi trope (bisexuality doesn't really exist), the undecisive trope (bisexuals can't choose) and the cheating and lying trope. This movie is an all around winner and I've felt insulted the whole time.
